Check that the Virtual Machine Management service is running and that you are authorized to connect to the server

Q: Check that the Virtual Machine Management service is running and that you are authorized to connect to the server

Hi all,
I am getting this error, whenever I try to connect to server from Hyper-V, I choose local server then I get this message

Check that the Virtual Machine Management service is running and that you are authorized to connect to the server.
In the services, I don't have this service... What should I do...?

Preferred Solution: Check that the Virtual Machine Management service is running and that you are authorized to connect to the server

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Check that the Virtual Machine Management service is running and that you are authorized to connect to the server

Here is the solution
1-make sure turn on virtual platform on bios
2- from turn windows features on or off expand hyper-v and enable hyper-v platform (Must)
3- restart your machine it should be working without problem.

This 100 % works

I have come across a Hypervisor issue on Windows 8 which seems not to be described yet.

Suddenly the Windows 8 Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service is not starting automatically anymore after an computer restart.
Also manually starting the Hyper-V manager service from the Hyper-V Manger Console ends up in the following error:
The Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service terminated with the following error:

Reinstalling the Hyper-V feature is not solving this issue.
Although the event description relates this issue due to local storage issues in my case it was not related to any storage shortage at all but due to file corruption on the system drive.

System configuration:

I am running a server in vmware workstation which is connected with NAT connection. I made port forwarding for access this virtual machine from outside the host computer. That is when type host computer ip:9000 in chrome it redirects to server web interface
which is running in vmware workstation because I redirect port 8080 in virtual machine to port 9000 in host machine.

Now I want to get all shared folders in the virtual machine . when I typed host ip in run dialog box it gives only the host machine shared folders . when i typed host ip along with port number it shows error.

What should I do for getting all shared folders of virtual machine in other computer in same network.

Note:Should not use bridge network connection.

Whether it is possible?.

I am trying to map a network drive to a remote server. The server is not on the same network as the computer I am trying to map the drive on.

I have the external IP address, the port number, and the drive letter on the server. I have entered http:// IP Address:Port Number/drive letter. I get an error message stating that the drive path is incorrect.

I am using the network drive mapping wizard in the Computer screen.

The remote server is part of a local network with 3 other computers running in the VMware workstation connected by NAT connection .I run this server port number 9000 of host machine by Port forwarding method.

I need help with the proper syntax for mapping the drive to the remote server. I can't get my Windows 10 machine to connect to the server. I need to get shared folder of virtual machine in another computer.

How do I map a drive to my remote server? Please be specific as I am not that familiar with networking.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm looking for a list of services which do something like what Jolicloud does. What I would like to do is install an OS on a computer, and then install another bootable instance of that exact same OS in a virtual machine on someone's server, and then be able to always access that virtual machine and do everything I do on it (except, I guess, print). All my docs are in Google Docs and are backed-up with Backupify, so my data life is already 99% in the cloud. But what I would like is for that cloud VM to be like a backup computer. So does anybody offer a hosting service for a "personal virtual machine"? For licensing reasons, I've little doubt but that one could not do this with Windows. But I would be fine with Ubuntu or CentOS.

I guess one way of doing what I would like to do would be to simply put Ubuntu on an old tower and leave it both on and on the Internet at all times, and then log into it as needed over the Internet. But then you run into the problem of theft, fire, or hardware failure. So I want to pay someone to manage the security, hardware, and always-on and accessible 24/7/365 operation of the virtual machine.

Thanks in advance for your help,

I have perforce upgraded to W10 from W7. The routine stuff is fine - after a bit of digging around. However I have two applications I can no longer run.
Locoscript (DOS) which has an extensive English-Russian database built up over decades
Photoshop Elements (XP) - I'm accustomed to it and would like to continue with it.
I was running both under Virtual Machine on W7. I have backups of the
VSV and VMC and VHD files.
Can you suggest how I can set up for these programs?

I also have a system backup of the 7 system.

Possibilities are in order of strong preference -
- a virtual PC under W10 (where from ?)
- a W7 boot on my W10 machine, just to run the Virtual PC for these two environments;
- for the DOs unpack the VSV data and possible DOSBOX to run the program
- Get a separate box and try to reinstall W7 on it from my system backup
= other

In each case I not sure where to start. Is it possible? Any suggestions?
Please !

My company bought out a company recently and now I have to manage a new server. The server is windows 2000 server that is getting fairly old now (not sure exact age of server). There are no more than 10 users accessing the server. It is running out of hard drive space and sometimes the tape backup drive acts up. This server does a bunch of different jobs. The server is running exchange server 2000, a blackberry server for a couple users, ms sql server (I think 2003?) for some accounting software and it is also a file server.

I was thinking of replacing it with a windows 2008 server but that would mean buying all new server software and office 2007 to connect to exchange 2007. Than I would need to migrate data to the new server. I have a some experience with migrating right now as I have setup a test lab to try things out using virtualbox.

So I have also been thinking about converting the windows 2000 server to a virtual machine and running vmware or other virtual machine software on a new server and using the image from the old server.

So my question is, would converting the server to a virtual machine and running it that way be a good idea? It would save a lot of money in software. Does any one have any pro's and con's to this type of idea or would getting a new server be the best option?

Thanks for all the help.

A:need advice if I should convert a server to a virtual machine

In my limited experience, virtualization is best for larger corporations that want to reduce the amount of hardware, energy consumption, and space requirements. A lot of the time, if you're a smaller company it would actually cost more in licensing costs to virtualize than to buy another server.

I am using a virtual IP to provide access to a mysql cluster. However since I don't have unlimited hardware I am unable to put the mysql servers as the sole application on each system. I end up with both an instance of apache and mysql on each system. I've configured the network with LVS and ldirector for load balancing. I've assigned a virtual IP to the system, say, I make that the primary IP to eth0 on the load balancer and as a loopback interface on the two machines (sql1 and sql2) running the mysql servers.

If I make a request from any server that is not sql1 or sql2, everything works fine, but when I am making a request from either of those machines it will not send to the load balancer, instead it picks up the loopback and just uses the local server.

Does anyone have any ideas for how to over come this? I'm kind of new to VIP's and anything more advanced than a static/dynamic ip address. I believe my setup is using direct routing.

Host OS: Windows 2003 Server running on domain under Active Directory
Guest Virtual Machine OS: Same

The Host Machine and Host OS operate as expected, and can interact with everything in the entire network, including

Other w2k3 servers
Domain Controllers
Linux servers
Linux PCs
However, the Virtual Machine was created using - and runs within - MS Virtual Machine 2005. The VM thinks it's a stand-alone server. It doesn't "see"

the HP 373i gigabit Network Interface Cards (NICs)
anything else in the network
the proxy server/internet gateway
anything on the host's hard drive
The VM DOES see

a non-existent NIC (a generic Intel adapter)
the host machine' s CD-ROM
As an aside, I have the same problem with a PC
Host OS: XP SP2
Guest Virtual Machine OS: Ubuntu Linux 7.10
That VM doesn't "see" the NIC, and lives in its own dark cave.

In each case, the VMs see all the other hardware - except the NICs and hard drives not internal to the VM.

How do I get the VM to acknowledge the NICs so that I can install the NIC drivers and open the VM's eyes to the rest of the Domain?

A:Solved: server 2003 - virtual machine - NIC

That 'non-existent' NIC is a 'virtual' one running as a Device on the Virtual Machine.
I'm using Virtual PC 2003 but I think yours is similar.
Try setting the 1st virtual NIC to use each option in the drop-down list in the Settings window.
I think NAT will work but I'm not sure, I only have a small home network so am not familiar with your situation.

In Windows 8 Pro I have created a virtual machine using Win XPSP3. I've tried everything I can to get an internet connection for my VM. I'm not on a network so I've created an external virtual switch. I've tried using both the legacy adapter and a network adapter. I've tried changing the IP address -even tried a DNS address but the best I've achieved so far is "limited or no Connectivity". I also tried Win 7 Home Premium VM with the same result - no internet connection.
The virtual manager should set this up automatically but doesn't so if anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear them.

Hello everyone,

Young student working on my master's thesis, I have to run a few programs only available on linux.

As seen on almost all the sources I visited, I installed VirtualBox and downloaded the last Ubuntu "iso" file. after having installed the new OS on virtualbox, I tried launching it and got the very often found "VT-x is disabled in the BIOS" error.

The solution also given in all the sources I visited is "enable Hyper-V" in the "windows features turn on or off" menu. Problem is : I can't find this option (I even looked in the least probable sub directories, just in case)

I found out this feature was only available for "Pro" versions of windows 8/8.1.

My question is : Is it feasible for me to run a virtual machine, or even run a machine on dual boot on my default-installed-windows 8 machine? I don't have the money to buy the pro package (which, for some reason, is MUCH more expensive than the "previous windows to 8.1 pro" update).

and If yes : how?

Best regards and thank you for reading,

(PS : my hardware is more than sufficient: 64bits i7-4700HQ processor, 8Gb RAM DDR3l)

A:Running a virtual machine on windows 8.1 NOT PRO edition

A:Running windows 8 as virtual machine in win7

You cannot run a virtual machine with only 3GB of RAM. Windows 7 needs 2GB to run. You will then only have 1GB for running Windows 8, which is not enough. You should have at least 8GB of RAM and a quad core CPU to run virtual machines. Also, since you have only a dual core CPU, 1 core will be needed for Win8, and another for Win7. this will make both OS's run very slow.

Windows 7 SP1 with 4 GB RAM.

This laptop is freezing about three times per week. The user regularly maxes out on RAM.

Apparently the laptop froze when only Microsoft Word was open; no other apps were open.

Additionally, every day, the system generates about 500 of the following errors:

A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Windows Management Instrumentation service to connect.
Event ID: 7009

I adjusted the timeout setting to 60000 ms (from https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc756342(v=ws.10).aspx).

However, the threshold of 60000 milliseconds keeps being reached (about 350 times per day)

How do I stop this PC from freezing?

Hello, all, and thank you in advance for the assistance. I am currently working on a customer's Toshiba Satellite C55 running Windows 8. Upon initial review, it was obvious that the machine was badly infected with numerous junkware and adware. Per our standard operating procedures, I backed up relevant data and restarted the machine in safe mode. Junk programs were uninstalled via CCleaner, scanned using MBytes, made copies of registry and repaired using CCleaner, cleaned up HDD using CCleaner, and restarted to Windows 8 (regular). Up to this point, all programs are installed from a flash drive. Typically, upon restart from safe, we run ESET Online Scanner. However, I noticed immediately that Chrome was giving me the "Could not connect to proxy server" error. I checked setting in Chrome to find that the "Proxy" tab was grayed out. I opened Internet Options from control panel -> Advanced -> LAN settings to find, as I had assumed it would be, the Proxy button selected. I deselected the Proxy settings, re-selected Automatically Detect Settings, and clicked OK. Same error from Chrome. Checked LAN settings again to find Proxy checked. Following this, I ran ComboFix, to no avail. Basically, every time I deselect Proxy settings (and even when I delete all Advanced Proxy Settings fields), something is automatically selecting it again. I have a few days to complete this, so no big rush. I really appreciate the help.

Unable to start Disk Management. I tried the following without success:

- Check file integrity
- Repair with DISM
- Start the Virtual Disk Service and Volume SHadoy Copy manually and set them to Automatic and Manual (it starts, but Disk Management cannot connect to it)
- Disable Firewall and Antivirus
- Verified that my system is malware free
- Tried opening it in Safe Mode

I'd appreciate any suggestions, thanks

A:Disk Management could not start Virtual Disk Service (VDS)

You might try going to the Services panel (services.msc) and looking at the properties for the Virtual Disk service. Open the Dependencies tab and check that those three services are also running or can be started.

Have you done anything with the utility lately like mount a .vhd or .xvhd file? Is there anything which might be corrupted and causes problems for the Utility with it tries to scan the drives?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this particular question, but it's technically an installation problem. If it's in the wrong forum, I apologize.

I've just recently started a Computer Information Technology program at a university, and I'm in my first class, which is an intro class which is online as a summer class. My teacher does not have a text book for us, and he says it's a "research class" where we have to figure out everything on our own. All in all, he's not offered me anything at all that would help me figure out how to install Server 2003 on a virtual PC, and I'm not the only student having problems with trying to do this with zero instructions (for what it's worth, I'm in another class in the program which is nothing like this complete lack of instruction).

I ultimately have to make a video showing that I have the programs loaded (Virtual PC-done, MySQL-done, Server 2003-problems all week long), running, and then explain them, but I just can't get Server 2003 to work at all on my Windows 7 machine. I think I could probably get Server 2008 to work, but the university only uses 2003, hence my problem.

Basically, I downloaded the Virtual PC and Windows XP bundle off of Microsoft's site and installed those. I have created a virtual PC, and it's running XP SP3. Now, if I try to install Server 2003 on the virtual PC, it gives me various errors according to which installer I try to use:

A:Cannot install Server 2003 SP2 on a virtual PC running XP SP3.

You need to install Server 2003 in its own VM, not in a VM that already has XP in it. There are many ways to install an OS into Virtual PC - I suggest googling for instructions. We can't exactly tell you how, since it's a research project you have to complete.

Think of it this way - if you have a brand new computer with a brand new hard drive, would you install Windows 7 on it and then try to install Server 2003 inside of Windows 7? No, you would install Server 2003 on the brand new hard drive.

Issue: I have a Windows 7 client that will not activate via the command slmgr.vbs /ato nor through the Volume Activation Management Tool.

Error: 0x800706BA Unable to connect to the WMI service on the remote machine
Troubleshooting: I have added the workstation via ip address and tried to activate since I read that it could be a DNS issue. I also ran a script that was supposed to repair the WMI. Neither tries fixed it.

Hey all. I just recently purchased a laptop with Windows 8 and wanted to set up a VM of Windows 7 on it. I have never worked with VM's before and I'm ready to get it going. Could anyone provide any help as to how to do it. Thanks!!!

A:Windows 8 Machine Running Windows 7 Virtual Machine

Hi there,

For beginners I recommend VMware Player:
VMware Player: Run Windows 8, Chrome OS on a Virtual PC
It's free.

You can also find it on filehippo for example.
The install process is easy to follow and the VM's work nicely.

There are other visualization products out there but this on is best to get started with.

Good luck

Hi All,

I have 32 bit System runing on 4 GB RAM and other better configurations.

I have Windows 7 installed as the main system and i have created a Virtual PC with Windows Virtual PC.

I am unable to Ping between the PCs together but i can boot and log in to the Vitual machine from Main syatem(Win 7).

I Tried to make the IP static by maintaining Gateway and Subnet mask same across and Main and Virtual PCs.

but still my Network status shows as Network cable unplugged in Virtual PC.

Explicitly i can connect to External network by making the IP Dynamic.

When i do IpConfig on Win 7 main PC(with Static IP configured in IPv4 TCP/IP)
the details are displayed as Disconnected.

please help me out in making the connectivity between Main PC and Virtual PC.

Thanks in Advance.

hi guys,

have an old xp box thats connected to a special machine that handles steel cutting
apparently it runs nt4...but i cant seem to exit the software...but i will contact the manufacturer if i have to

the old box access the shares on the steel machine no problem
but my new box doesnt

is there a way to export network settings or see how the old box is connecting to steel machine? or do you think it will have to be configured on the nt4 steel machine

the error i get is "you do not have permission to use resources on this machine...bla bla bla"
the old box connecting doesnt have a password on the user account, so i dont thinks its a permission thing
we dont have a server / domain

just need to connect to a folder on the steel cutter to dump cad files on for the machine to read and cut accordingly

any info on how to tackle this appreciated

im guessing i will need to get into the nt4 box...

Connect WAMP Server/Virtual Host/local Word Press to GoDaddy.

my name is Amadeus,

We are starting a self funded animal rescue center,
We have purchased out own servers, and are pretty tech savy.

We have run across something we can not figure out.

Here is our Set up.

1. 2u Server.
2. Lynksys E8400 router x 2
/ 1 Router is bridged.
3. 1Gigabit online speed.

We have tried everything,

~port forwarding
~port 80
~ pretty much every tutorial in the known planet.

The conclusion we came to was, it has something to do with the router ?

because godaddy can point to the router login page, but thats it,

after we tried port forwarding, its just a error page.

The only logical guess we have left is

1. We need to set the DHCP

DHCP Server:
Enabled Disabled
Start IP Address: 192 . 168 . 1.
Maximum Number of Users:
IP Address Range: 192 . 168 . 1. 50 to 149
Client Lease Time: minutes (0 means one day)
Static DNS 1: . . . ???
Static DNS 2: . . . ???
Static DNS 3: . . . ???
WINS: . . .

3. Something we totally missed ?

we know how to change everything... Read more

I've tried hosting a server for an indie computer game called Minecraft using the following .jar file
and while it works, I've been unable to allocate more than 1 gig of memory to the program.

Running the .jar file by itself leaves a very small amount of memory, which is tracked on the server window as "Memory use: # mb (% free)

The support forum for the game suggests using a .bat file with the following line:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar

This does increase the amount of memory, and while I should be able to increase the "1024" values to use even more, this is where I run into problems. Using "2048" or any other value in this .bat line produces an error stating:
"Unable to run virtual Java machine"

I've asked about this on the game's forum, and the only response I've gotten was from other Vista 64 bit users that have the same problem and are unable to solve it. Any thoughts?

Hello I am working for an international organisation and I am responsible for all ICT manners in Lebanon. We have deployed several HP laptops (mostly EliteBook 840). The organisation has a world wide warranty. Now I am looking for an Authorized Service Center in Lebanon which could support us in case one of the laptops breaks. We mainly have issue with broken screens or power issues. Is there an Authorized Service Center in Lebanon? If not, what would be the closed location of such a Service Center? Kind RegardsMichael

I have an H50-05 with a bad power supply and 2 weeks out of warranty. My credit card company extends the warranty 1 year, but they need (and will pay for) a diagnosis from an authorized service center. The Lenovo website says there is only one service center within 100 miles, but when I call that company they say they don't repair anything. Is there such a thing as an authorized service center, and how do I find one.
