Script Error Re Outlook Express & Internet Explorer

Q: Script Error Re Outlook Express & Internet Explorer

Hello there,

I have recently set up on my PC a different account area for my friend so that he can check his e-mails from time to time.

His e-mails are accessed via the program Outlook Express.

Now bear in mind he can access his e-mails via Outlook Express perfectly well on my account area

But for some reason on the new area Outlook Express throws a wobbly

(and I'm not sure if it's just Outlook Express or the Internet as a whole that is the problem)

After logging on to the new area and then clicking on Outlook Express the program opens up. - this is where the problem is.

If there are no new e-mails coming through its okay ? However !!

If there are new e-mails waiting the first e-mail will come & straight away the program will bring up a new box which says: Internet Explorer Script Error

(I have sent a screenshot of this as an attachment - see attachment)

And everything freezes, - this new box & Outlook Express the only way to get out of it is to do Ctrl/Alt/Delete

As I said earlier I?m not sure whether this is an Outlook Express problem or an Internet Explorer problem, - because I don't seem to be able to get certain Internet sites either

For example the Hotmail sign in page www.hotmail.com

And also when I open up Internet Explorer it always starts with a settings page even though I have set my homepage to Google.

I'm not particularly computer literate but would really appreciate a solution to this so my friend can read his e-mails

I look forward to hearing back from anyone

Regards Richard Milner.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The title of your thread says "Outlook Express", but it looks like you're running Microsoft Outlook. Those are two different products.

Is this a new error that just started to pop up after Outlook has been running fine for a while? Did you try a repair of Office?

I think that I started having this problem after I started using adaware to combat spyware and maybe I accidently deleted something. I am not sure. Is there any easy fix to this problem instead of reformatting my hard drive? I tried uninstalling outlook express and reinstalling, but I still get the same error. When I have the OE Inbox for Hotmail on my screen, and I right click an email with a view to opening it, I simultaneiously get a script error message with the menu resulting from the left click on top of it. And my computer is then frozen until I use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close the OE Inbox. I have that box checked (I can't remember where I got to the box) that says don't check for script errors.

All of the numerous script error messages I have gotten show Char. 35, but they show different lines, 15, 63 and 97 so far.

Any suggestions besides not using OE?

Operating system Windows XP home SP2--Internet Explorer 6-Outlook express 6

New Problem! When I open e-mail (sent) attempting to move e-mails to( Delete) so I can delete them, I receive an Internet Explorer Script Error.

It shows: An error has occured in the script on this page

Error
code
url
Do you want to continue running script on this page?
Yes No

There seems to be a seperate script error for each Sent e-mail with different info in the Line-through-url designations. Hitting yes/no eventually removes all the errors notifications but obviously something is wrong. You cannot move sent e-mails to delete until all the script error messages are deleted.
The problem only occurs in the SENT area of Outlook Express 6!

Help please! Tom

I have taken a bit of time to read through the earlier problems mentioned here and found my problem a bit unique (I hope So!).

My problems started a while ago. I have Win Xp Pro. with all updates available. About a month ago i noticed that everytime i opened Outlook express, Norton anti virus window would automatically pop up and send an email out - though i have not had any mail in my outbox or drafts folders. It is to be noted that my license for NAV has expired but i get the updates from the IT dept. on a CD and i update (I think Symantec would consider this illegal!!). Further, when i open my IE browser, everything is fine. When i do a search and then open a search in a new window - invariably there is a delay before any icon on the desk becomes active - even if i wanted to close or maximise the window - no luck. It would just freeze and take a while before anything happens. Now before this i had KazaaLite installed and then had Kazaa MD installed - i learnt later that they get installed side-by-side. Never knew actually. Now i went ahead and updated to the latest Ver of KMD and then i noticed quite a few other additional programmes installed. So Uninstalled the whole lot - incl KLite. I then end up with a Wupdater.exe fault window pop-up a... Read more

OK running Internet explorer you can click on 'Tools' the 'Internet Options' then the 'Programs tab' to access a location with drop down lists of program that can be used as defaults for your Interent explorer. Like Email.

I have a person that IS Using Outlook Express for all of her Email, and has been using it for some time, but when I go to the "Tools, Internet Options, Programs, and access the drop-down list for "Email:"" the only Mail program available is Outlook.

She does not want to use Outlook, and claims that when she does, it resends ...EVERY Sent email... Again.

Why is Outlook Express NOT in the drop-down list to allow it to be set as the default Email for Internet Explorer?
How can I add it or at lest set it to be used as the default Mail program?

A:Internet Explorer/Outlook Express

mine shows several options - but not Outlook as it's not installed

could try uninstalling outlook (and hope IE then looks for another email client)

check the OE settings (tools, options, general) is OE listed as the default mail client at the bottom of the tab window?

Example: Someone sends me an email, I click reply, I open up Google.com and copy this from the bottom of their website:

This attacked Norton, so I got rid of Norton. Now this Internet Explorer Script Error has gotten into my Control Panel.

What can I do to get rid of this?

It looks exactly like this: http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/2456/clipboard01bt6.jpg

I've tried turning off the disable script debugging(intenet explorer and other), and display a notification about every script error, but that didn't do make it leave my computer.

Also, would uninstalling Internet Explorer get rid of that Internet Explorer Script Error?

Okay, whenever I run internet explorer or do anything that accesses the internet through internet explorer (like trying to install the zune software for my recently purchased zune) I get a script error message, but it doesn't show any identification. It's just blank, and asks if I want to continue running scripts on the page. No matter what, it wont go away. It's not frozen, as I can exit it and it just pops up or i can click yes/no and it doesn't go away. Also, Im thinking this has something to do with norton 360 (a wicked evil program) but I uninstalled norton with about three different programs (ccleaner, norton offical complete uninstaller and the built in one) and I also did a search for all symnatec and norton programs and deleted them all, to no luck. MSN also doesn't work, and I'm thinking its connected. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I have dont show script messages turned on, but that doesn't do anything.

Okay, I fixed that problem, but now maybe someone can help me with installing the zune software. It gives me the crappy restart computer thing but that doesn't work. I think it has something to do with windows installer, because I can't install anything. Any help?

Everytime I try to print while on-line I get an error box that says:
An error has occured in the script on this page.
Line: 639 Char: 1 Error: Invalid argument. Code: 0
URL: res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/preview.dlg

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
YES NO

If I choose yes, I still cannot print. What can I do to fix this? I have to copy and paste everything from the internet onto a MS word document in order to print. I have a new X1100 series printer and it still won't let me print from the internet.

The drive location is Documents & Settings\RW\Local Settings
Temp\ (and then some letters & numbers that change each time the screen appears. And it appears almost every time I click an internet link.

Have tried de-selecting the script error notifications in internet options but the problems persists.

Anyone got any ideas?
