Internet Explorer Zoom Settings

Q: Internet Explorer Zoom Settings

Now this is really doing my head in. The regular zoom setting for Internet explorer is 100%, but I find the screen?s way too small at those settings for me to read the text properly. The best setting for me is 200%, but the thing keeps on resetting itself back to 100% forcing me to keep on going back to put it back to 200% again. Is there any way to lock the zoom settings to what I want rather than having to keep on resetting it?

Preferred Solution: Internet Explorer Zoom Settings

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I use internet explorer, 125% zoom is the best choise for me

When I open IE8, the zoom is 100%. I then change it to 125%. Next page I open is often 100% and sometimes 125%. This is randomly.

Ive also tried to change it in regedit, but it doesnt help.

Ive read other threads about this issue, but these threads were started a while ago. Maybe there is some new solutions.

I just installed service pack 2, and I guess the issue appeared after the installation

Someone knows how to get the zoom to stay at 125% permanently?

Hey y'all!

I'm in need of some help with my IE.
I got a list of updates in the middle of a website that auto refreshes. I need to zoom in and lock it to fill the screen. Anyone know of a way to do this?

I'm sorry that I won't be able to link this website, since it is for the airforce.

A:Internet Explorer zoom problem!

To use IE8 zoom, add it to the command bar using 'customize'.

Each click (2) zooms then the third resets back to normal.

Still too small? Start with Text Size larger (customize again).

edit: you can also use Magnifier.

As a whole, IE is a fairly secure environment. If wanted you can go into the security tab and set your internet setting to High instead of medium. The best thing to do is to ensure you have all your windows updates completed and ensure you have some type of Antivirus/Antispyware scanners to find anything that may be lurking on your computer already. Below is a list of my most used Antispyware programs. YOu can only have one Antivirus but you can have as many antispyware programs as your heart desires and you can never have to many.

Microsoft Anti-Spyware (for Win2000/WinXP only)

Ice, welcome to Sevenforums!

Reseting it is a good idea. It will ask if you want to keep personal settings. After, go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer and download flashplayer to your desktop. Uninstall adobe flashplayer from contol panel in favor of installing this newer version. Check add-ons in internet explorer and make sure all the ones you want are there and none other. Having IEx64 and normal IE is standard on a x64 system, which you have. They are 2 versions of the same browser, but have about the same speed (for IE9). I'd use the normal one due to compatability reasons. Hope this helps

I don't know the answer to your specific problem but I'd be very wary of adding Games Sites to your Trusted Zone - that's really leaving yourself open to attack from any malware running around on those sites (and there will be plenty). I can't seem to modify the security settings for IE. Specifically I am trying to log in to my Yahoo e-mail account and I get a message saying "The browser you're using refuses to sign in (cookies rejected)". The privacy report says that, indeed, several versions of the yahoo web-site have cookies blocked even though right clicking on the sites clearly shows that "Always Accept cookies from this site" is selected. I can see nothing wrong with the cookie settings and have cleared caches, temp files etc as suggested by many other solutions out there. Internet search suggests that there should be a P3P entry in the registry but I can't see it anywhere. Where would these records be? I've run Ad-Aware and SpyBot with no improvement.

The PC is running Ranger, a schools based OS but I've removed it with no difference.

Recently, we ran a pilot where FIPS-compliance mode was enabled on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 32-bit computers.  Specifically, the "System cryptography: Use FIPS-compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" security option was
set to Enabled.  The pilot is over and we turned off FIPS-compliance mode.
Since doing that, I have noticed that the SSL/TLS settings in Internet Explorer 9 are disabled on computers that were part of the pilot.  I know the defaults are:

SSL 2.0 : offSSL 3.0 : onTLS 1.0 : onTLS 1.1 : offTLS 1.2 : off
Now, all of these settings are disabled (grayed out) and the following settings are set:

SSL 2.0 : onSSL 3.0 : onTLS 1.0 : onTLS 1.1 : offTLS 1.2 : off

This affects all user accounts on the system.
The test GPO we used to turn on FIPS mode for these computers has been verified to only be enforcing that FIPS setting.  It was not controlling any Internet Explorer settings.
Here is the troubleshooting I have done so far:

Reset Internet Explorer via the Reset button on the Advanced tab in Internet Options.Put computer in an OU that had Group Policy inheritance blocked, performed gpupdate, and rebooted to ensure no GPOs were affecting the computer.
Verified that local policy was not enforcing the Internet Explorer SSL/TLS settings.Ran msconfig, disabled non-Microsoft services, and rebooted.Removed the Internet Explorer feature, rebooted, re-added it, and rebooted.Installed all available important and r... Read more

I went on a vacation recently and came back to discover that my housesitter messed my computer up. I kept getting the warnings about my computer being infected with several viruses (malicious adware software), I can't remember exactly which one it was. I got rid of it, but then I could not get on the internet. I finally discovered a post about unchecking "Use a proxy server for your LAN", so I unchecked it and was able to access the internet. However, whenever I try to google anything, it takes me to different "search" websites instead of linking me directly to the site I want. Or, it will send me to a website that's trying to sell me something and I have to completely close IE down. This is getting really old, and I don't know how to fix it. If I recheck the proxy server box, I cannot get on the internet again. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I'm a newbie to Windows 7 Home Premium & think maybe I've messed up IE9. It seemed to me to be slow & some sites left me with hundreds of items in Temp.IE Files while others, this one in particular, just left 1, so in trying to get less from somewhere else I messed around with IE settings & now don't even remember what I did. So actually I guess my main question is: what is Microsoft Fixit? I've seen reference to it several times but have never used it. I have a very wide 'yellow streak' down my back & don't know which way to go.

Thank you.
oops, forgot to mention that the reason I came here to post was that I'd been in the Tutorials doing some reading when I was interrupted by a phone call & when I came back to continue, it took what seems like forever to 'wake up' my screen. Then when I came back here to edit, it again took too long to open my post. I'm sorry, my wording may be wrong, hope this makes sense.

I've used several guides for tweaking Internet Explorer for security settings. I want to be as meticulous and tight with security as possible without having to compromise for easy surfing, particularly not having to answer a prompt for every page I visit.

I've tried to do the online spyware scans for TrendMicro, Symantec and several of the other ones every now and then and they either don't load at all or tell me I'm not running ActiveX or scripting, which I am. What settings could be making it difficult for me to use these?

I am having trouble with internet explorer. I have downloaded from the email that I received to a folder that looked like it was created with capital letters - I have done a bit of research and I gather that it went to a IE5 folder. When I went looking for it - I could not find it.

Further, on this site a word doc downloads with no problem.I have to confess I am stumped. Anyone have any ideas?ThanksDerek

A:Reset Internet Explorer Settings

Resetting Internet Explorer will wipe history, temporary internet files, web form info, cookies and passwords. Resetting won't harm your computer, but because cookies and saved passwords are deleted, all you have to do is re-enter them when you go to ebay and other places that require one. If you use IE7, you'll also have to go through the "choose your options" or whatever it's called. And you will have to reset your homepage. And your restricted sites will also be deleted. If all you want to do is delete the restricted sites, you can do open Internet Options/Security tab.Click the red circle with a line through it, then sites. You can delete them individually, but with 300 sites there, this would take a lot of time to do. I personally don't think having that many restricted sites is slowing down your computer. When was the last time you deleted the cache? It's deleting cookies that wipes out your stored passwords. History, temp internet files, cookies can build up-causing a slowdown. It's a good idea to regularly delete them. As long as you know all your passwords, enter them back in when required. Also, what about defragging? That might help with the speed issue.Read Slow Computer?, Use this troubleshooting checklist for more info on things you can do to speed up your computer. Now every time I try, it briefly leaves the sign in page before immediately returning to it. It rests on the new page so briefly, merely a flicker that I don't have time to read what it says but I have seen ' browser settings' (I think).

My question is if I ask IE to return to default settings, will that solve the problem? Thanks.

Make sure the sign in page is fully loaded and use the Yahoo "Enter" with a single mouse click. To see if the problem is in your box, try getting in from another computer.

Hi Everyone

I am having trouble locating where the default settings for internet explorer 11 is stored.
By that I mean when you go to press the reset button in the advanced tab - where is it pulling the default settings from?

IE keeps enabling "Display intranet sites in compatibility View" when I press reset button.

Every once in a while I get this dialog box that opens - not a major problem but annoying. I was wondering how dangerous is it to "Reset Internet Explorer to it's original settings? I know how to navigate to do this but was wondering the possible dangers that can happen when doing this?

Hope someone can help.

I have a user that needs to download files on IE, however the security settings don't allow him and need to manually changed each time. Because the user is logging into a domain I think it resets back to the default settings.

Is there any way to change the default settings in IE to prevent this from happening.

It's on Windows 2000 Professional using IE 6.

Cheers in advance,

Hiya and welcome

I've moved you to Web and Email for more response

As this sounds like a network issue, have you tried the System Administrator, as they may have set up the restrictions for a purpose.

I'm facing a strange problem on a lot of Windows machines at my company: the Internet Explorer proxy settings keeps changing.
The proxy settings are being set by a Domain GPO, but on several machines the proxy settings revert back do "Automatically detect settings" from time to time. I'm pretty sure that the GPO is rightly configured. I just need to run
gpupdate /force to correct the proxy settings. And all machines have a up-to-dated antivirus software installed.
Now the strange thing: while using Procmon to find out which process changed the AutoConfigURL registry key, I found that
iexplore.exe process executed by itself a RegDeleteKey command to clear this key.

I've tried disabling several add-ons, but the problem is still happening. Does anyone know if there is a way to discover "what" inside IE is removing the proxy configurations? Or if something is invoking IE to do this nasty job? :P

A:Internet Explorer keeps changing proxy settings

Actually I found out what happened.
Here in Brazil almost every bank and financial institution demand us to install a security plugin to help on protecting their internet banking access. These plugins work almost independently, they update by themselves and take any necessary action without
warning the user.
And that's what happended with us: one of the most used internet banking by the employees updated its security plugin automatically, and this new version was checking if the proxy configured in IE was suspicious. Sadly, for some reason it considered
our proxy address as a threat and removed it using the RegDeleteKey command. Just some minutes after we put back the proxy address, the plugin removed it again.
This loop lasted for almost two weeks. After figuring out what was happening, I have contacted the support personel of this bank. They knew that it was a known issue, and executed a remote action to downgrade their little monster, which
solved the problem.

Woops! I posted this in tips section. Reposting here. Sorry.

I tried to find info in forum on this but couldn't.
I started out with Internet Explorer (5.) after re-istalling Win98 which worked very well and loaded quickly. Then I downloaded Netscape but did not make it my default(?).
After that, IE became slow to load and now I get the message "detecting proxy settings" and I ususally lose patience and click on home button which works but it's still so slow. I'm on DSL. I use both Netscape and Internet Explorer to view how my html appears when working on my site.
Any suggestions for this problem and what the heck does detecting proxy settings mean.
Thanks, Marianne

A:Internet Explorer: detecting proxy settings

I don't have DSL, just regular DUN. Does DSL create a DSL folder like DUN has? Just curious.

I would check the settings in IE, Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Settings, to see if Use a proxy server is checked. If so, uncheck it, and test IE. If not, do you have a site that you can look at for the DSL FAQ's?

Which browser do you want to be your default?
To make Internet Explorer the default Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Place a checkmark at the bottom of the page for Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser otherwise, uncheck it to make another browser the default.
