TP Yoga 14 Wifi not working and stopping wifi on other devices

Q: TP Yoga 14 Wifi not working and stopping wifi on other devices

Hey guys, I bought this Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 about a month ago, and have had no problems with it until about 3 days ago when the wifi internet got really slow and would cut out with in a minute or two of working. During this time, any time I open the notebook and connect to wifi all other devices in the house won't get internet. I've tried browsing through this forum, but the solutions that seemed to work for others have not worked for me. If anyone has experienced this or knows of a solution please let me know. Thank you!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm getting a fraction of the speeds from my home 5G wifi from the Yoga 920. I have three other wifi devices and all currently get ~46 Mbps at common speed test sites. On the 920, I get 2-7.Things me and Lenovo phone support have tried:- In the driver advanced options, setting "roaming aggressiveness" to 5 (that temporarily seemed to fix the problem but it now persists)- Updating the Qualcomm Atheros wifi driver (it was already updated)- Reinstalling the driver (version is a clean Win 10 Home system running on Fall Creator's Update with nothing installed to take bandwidth. No apps are running on startup.Lenovo support had nothing for me, beyond reinstalling the driver or resetting the machine to factory. Anything else I can try before I take this step? I don't want to spend four hours downloading Windows updates again

Last night bought my daughter a 720, we came home and she immediately started setting it up. At that same time, everyone's wifi became incredibly slow on all our devices: phones, other laptops, and her new 720 as well. Slow as molasses, some pages even timing out. Any ideas if this is just a coincidence or not?

when i first set up my yoga, my wifi didnt work. it only works if i sit very close to the router. if i go upstairs or anywhere else, the connection gets lost instantly while all the other devices on the house would work just fine at that distance. and when it works, it often drops out. what i noticed is that if i connect to my phones mobile hotspot or the schools wifi network, the connection is great no matter where i am. ive tried updating the drivers, restarting the machine and so on. how come this device cant connect to my home network while literally everything else i own works great? i spend a lot of money on this laptop and wifi issues were a problem i wanted the least to happen.

Hi, i will attempt to supply any info that is requested. This is my problem: My internet (wifi) was working fine, now it doesn't. I recently started having issues but when my landlord restarted the router it was fixed. The issue continued to happen and he replaced the router but the problem still persists. The internet works for my roommate and my landlord. The reason I am not giving computer specs is because the internet doesn't work on my iPod either. Basically the internet works for everyone in my house and on my iPhone, but it doesn't not work for my laptop or my iPod or when my friends come over with there computers. It says I am connected but I have the little yellow triangle. It says ipv4 no internet access and ipv6 no network access. I tried all sorts of fixes but since it does not work on my iPod or my friends' laptop, the issue is bigger than my laptop. Why would if only work on some devices? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. I really need internet access on my laptop for school!!!

I recently bought a new cisco e2000 router and had no problem connecting to it on all the devices in the house (about 10 of them)

Just now, all the devices in my room (ipod, netbook, phone, and laptop) lost a connection to the router and no matter where I am in the house none of these 4 devices can get a connection. I can see other networks, just not mine. They all worked perfectly fine before, and out of nowhere they stopped working. Other devices that were not in my room at the time of this 'wifi surge' still have a connection to the router.
The wired connection works and that's how I'm typing this right now...

Any suggestions?

Hello laxman7,

I would start off with a Power Cycle. See if it helps, if not please move on to the next tasks.

You may visit Linsys site and see if there's a most recent update for you router even though your router is brand new.

Install and run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector from one of your wireless computers.
Double click the Xirrus Icon on your Desktop, Tap the Printscreen key on your keyboard, open up Paint then choose Edit from the Menu and select Paste, then SAVE it. Upload and attached the file here.

Please post an update.

Hello, I have a X1 Yoga 1st gen bought around 1 year back. It had a fan problem which finally solved only after a replacement of the fan. I received my laptop yesterday and since then the WiFi doesnt work anymore. It worked prefectly before I gave it for repair. It doesn't connect at all OR if I put it right next to the router, it picks up an extremely weak signal that is of no use. I have tried updating the drivers to the latest one (from Lenovo support website, ver 20.3). But this hasnt resolved the issue. Could you please tell me how to fix this? It is annoying to buy something worth $3000 that has all kinds of problems from the get go! First the fan and now the WiFi. Thanks!

You may open the cover and see if any Wifi wire in Grey and/or Black color not attached firmly.Keep in mind that it may avoid warranty if you damage any component inside.

Hey there,

Have been having this problem for a while. I'll try to make a long story short. I'm on a personal build computer running x58 chipset. Originally installed Windows 7. Have upgraded to 8, 8.1, 10, and then 10 anniversary addition.

The problems started once I upgraded to Windows 10.

When the computer goes idle for the day (leave for work, come home later in the day) the desktop, which is connected via ethernet, has lost it's connection and will only come back after a reboot. Troubleshooting doesn't work, and trying to disable and re-enable the NIC card doesn't work.

Once the desktop loses its connection, every device that is connected via wifi will show that it is connected, but will not load anything. As soon as I reboot the desktop, everything works fine. I DO NOT need to reboot the modem or router.

I have searched over and over and over, and have determined it is not a modem problem(comcast eMTA, in bridge mode), or a router problem (Asus RT-AC68P) so it must be a driver problem for my NIC card. I cannot for the life of me find a Marvell Yukon 88E8056 windows 10 supported driver to see if that is the issue. Maybe there are settings in the NIC card properties I need to change?

Any help would be appreciated.

This issue started recently, after months of it working fine. The internet just would randomly stop working. I would use the troubleshooting function, it would go through the process and connect to our network, but then when I tried to go to a website, it would say there was no internet. Eventually I was able to get an old Netgear USB Adapter to work. I have tried changing the power settings, removing the drivers in the device manager, and I have the latest wifi driver. I have read many of the help posts on other Yoga wifi issues. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? Thanks for the help!

We use Yoga Pro 3 computers for work, so I have several and this problem is the same on 3 of them (which leads me to rule out a hardware issue): the wifi adapter just went missing one night, seemingly after the latest routine windows 10 update.  Bluetooth is still there, but no wifi.  If I go into the device managers, I see a bunch of 'wan miniport' artifacts, but no actual wifi adapater.  I've rolled back the update (multiple udpates, for tha matter), played around in BIOS, I've tried intsalling the network adapter drivers manually, and on one computer, I even did a factory reset.  Nothing works.  Certainly a windows update can't damage the wifi card itself.  Anyone have any ideas?  No network connection makes these computers expensive paperweights.  And since they're employee computers, time is critical.  I'm giong to have to guy buy new computers this week if I can't resolve this.

I experienced a bizarre problem today and although I've resolved it now I thought I'd post it here just in case someone else experiences the same issue. The issue was in regards to WiFi not working properly on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1. After a restart my computer's internet (with WiFi on) would work for a few minutes then it would stop. Long story short, I tried various things, and even uninstalled Norton and other software which I thought may have been a culprit but still the same issue. I also used a USB to Ethernet port (since there is no built in Ethernet port in the ThinkPad Yoga) and connected my computer with a cable and disabled the WiFi to see if it was the wireless hardware not working. Unfortunately still the same issue. Finally I noticed in the Windows Task Manager a process called "Discover.exe". It turned out this was using some noticeable amount of CPU and wondered what this was doing as I hadn't seen that before. I found out that this was a piece of software bundled in with my computer called Lenovo EMC Storage Connector. I'm not sure why it was running but I ended this process. Viola, suddenly my internet was working again! This time no problems.I uninstalled this software utility to make sure this doesn't cause this issue again. I can't understand why Lenovo bundles this software but this seems to have a serious defect and has cost me hours of trying to work out what was going wrong. I hope this is hel... I'm having a problem that's been on and off with my.wifi for a while. I have a Yoga 2 Pro and the WiFi card seems to disappear completely and I can't get it back without removing all the batteries and leaving it a while. It's not like it needs a driver update, it totally disappears as if it's not even installed and won't show up in any OS or even under the "rfkill list command". It appears to be completely failing. Thing is I've swapped it out and it seems to be some part of the operation that mounts it that isn't working. I notice that it installs into the power board and not the motherboard. Would swapping this fix it? Does anyone have any ideas?

This is my first time posting so i hope its in the right place. Here it goes:

I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:

1. Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.

After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on. Any help is appreciated.

Hahaahahaha don't look at the other tab

Why are you booting into safe mode? I would connect a network cable to the wired network port, if possible for you. In regular windows, not safe mode, right click on the 802.11ac network controller and uninstall. Right click on the top device manager entry for the computer itself and select scan for new hardware.

I have been unable to connect to anything on my wired network, for about the last week. I don't remember making any changes however, I just became unable to connect.

I having done a little troubleshooting.

1. I can connect to the shares of my Windows Home Server if I use the IP address. The name does not resolve.

2. Flushed DNS and restarting DNS server. Flushing DNS works on one client, to allow browsing by the name & restarting DNS works on the other. However neither works after a restart.

3. Only my Wifi clients are experiencing this issue. My wired clients, desktops, PS3, Xbox 360, and Boxee can connect perfectly.

This issue is not limited to my server. I can't connect to shares on my desktop, nor print to my wired printer.

I have two laptops, a tablet and smartphone which are all connected to my home wireless. When I use my laptop (Acer - Windows 7), the internet runs really slow and web pages keep timing out. This happens whether I use Chrome or Firefox. The internet also stops working completely on all other devices. As soon as I shut down the Acer laptop, the internet works on the other devices fine.
A couple of weeks ago I downloaded Bit Torrent software on the Acer laptop and this is when the problem started so I unistalled the software after a couple of days. I had McAfee antivirus software and Malwarebytes anti-malware at the time. I have unistalled McAfee and installed Avast Antivirus today and run full system scans with both Avast and Malwarebytes and they are not detecting anything.
The hard drive on my laptop is fully defragmented and has plenty of memory available. I also had Hola VPN add-on installed but I have unistalled this today too and this hasn't helped the problem. I recently installed Google Drive backup but have limited both the upload and download speed to 100kbps so I don't think this could be causing the problem.
I've tried restarting the laptop, resetting the modem and connecting to the internet via ethernet cable and none of these help either.
Any ideas of what else I could try? My husband and I both work online so need to use both laptops so this is really messing us up! Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey, I'm a bit of a tech idiot so I'm in a pretty bad spot right now. The thing is, I'm trying to connect to a wifi that requires a username and password, I've used this wifi before and been using it for almost a year but then it suddenly stops working and window 10 just tells me "can't connect to this network" after I type the credentials.
There's another thing too, the same thing happened to my Iphone at the same time and I couldn't reconnect, the simple fix I had for that was forgetting the network and then rejoining and seeing that I had to accept to something I think it was a custom profile or agreement I'm not sure but I recall getting this on windows the first time I connected so I started to think maybe they updated the agreement or something and I have to reaccept on windows, so I forgot the network and did everything but the accept certificate/profile/whatever wont show again and it's pretty frustrating.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Can you connect to the internet using an ethernet connection?

Read other 3 answers

Sorry if I sound like a complete novice (because I am one) but the problem basically presents itself.
I have a Dell Inspiron with Windows Vista (don't ask me why) which is connected to the internet via an ethernet port (because I live in a college dorm).
So I tried to convert this into a wifi for my Samsung phone and tablet androids by making it into an adhoc connection, but they didnt register it. After much Google-ing I realised that androids don't support ad-hoc connections.
I even tried installing Connectify. But once again it created an ad-hoc connection as my laptop is Vista, which is incompatible.

I also read all this stuff about rooting your phone etc. which basically scared the hell out of me because I don't want to damage my devices and I'm afraid I might just, if I mess it up. They work absolutely fine otherwise.

So basically my question is, is there ANY way (an app, a software; no configuration required please) in which I can connect an android device to an Ethernet internet connection via Vista?

Thanks in advance. Especially to those who can explain in easy language.

Everything's hooked up fine, and it was working perfectly before, but now my devices such as my laptop and Droid Pro can SEE the router (As in connect to it and say that they are getting excellent signal strength), but when I try to open my browser, it asks as if I'm not connected to anything at all. The PC that's wired to the modem through the router works fine, however.

I recently decided it would be cool to be able to see a list of all the devices that are connected to my wireless internet. Problem is, I cannot for the life of me figure out how. I've read that most routers/modems have a way of showing you this, but a) my modem is really old and I don't know if it supports this, and b) I think the modem has a way to attach a special router to it, but I have a completely separate router connected to it. So while wifi works fine, all the wireless setting on the modem are greyed out because it doesn't think I have any routers attached to it. So maybe there's a way to view it under those settings, and I can't because it's all greyed out. My modem is an Actiontec M1000, and I'm not really sure what the router is. If someone can tell me how to see devices (AND THEIR NAMES, not just IP/MAC addresses) from that router, that'd be great.

But what I'm really looking for is a program I can run on my computer to show me all the devices. I've tried net view in cmd, but that only gives me computers on the network, and not devices like iPhones or iPod Touches.

I know McAfee Security Center has a Network View or something that does a pretty good job of at least showing all the IP addresses, but a) I'm trying out some different free AV/Firewalls (since McAfee is too resource-heavy) and that's not at my disposal at the moment, b) it only shows IP address, not device names (very important to me), and c) I really want a standalone program to do this with.

A:Viewing devices on my wifi network

Edit: I found Wireless Network Watcher - Show who is connected to your wireless network and it's almost what I'm looking for. Simple, small, no hassle. But it still doesn't show the device names of things like my iPod.

I'm fairly certain that it should be possible to see its name because a while back, my school sent out warnings to everyone that was connecting to their wifi saying that we had to stop because almost all the students were using it and it couldn't handle all that traffic. (A little while later they got smart and put a password on it) But I asked one of the people in charge how they knew who was on it, and they told me that most of the devices (including my iPod) had a device name that somehow identified the owner (In my case my iPod's device name was my full name so that was pretty obvious). So I'm sure there's got to be a way that I can see that info on my home network as well.

I have seen a few printers that have USB and Wifi connections, I have also seen a small point and shoot digital camera that transfered it's pictures via wifi instead of bluetooth. Is bluetooth being phased out? Does this mean bluetooth is dieing? I know that wifi has a higher data transfer rate so it's more convenient but I can't imaging a wifi mouse or a wifi earphone.

A:Some devices are usinf Wifi instead of bluetooth

Bluetooth isn't dying, but is becoming something more integrated. Some speculate that cars will use it instead of internal cabling (bad idea if you ask me).

But wifi is better for some applications, as it allows the device to get inside a network and communicate with any device inside that network (so it's why wifi is pretty prevalent in printers along the Ethernet interface), while bluetooth is usually used for a temporary very-short-range connection between two devices. So you get bluetooth operated smart locks, sensors and other stuff that would make no sense to put on Wifi.

I can't imaging a wifi mouse or a wifi earphone

Why not? They are just different data transfer protocols over radio waves.

Hi all,
There is a virus in my laptop and all the other devices connected in the wifi at my home. When anyone open a webpage in any device, the page redirects to "Some trade exchage site and than to facebook". These days it also shows a warning in all mobile phones that there is a virus in your phone and prevent to do anything else.
If i connect any new device to the wifi the virus spreads. Now i don't want to reset all my devices( there are 7-8) including my laptop, phones, tab etc. Any solution to this?
Also the virus in my laptop opens a new tab too( with this type of link, "http://ad-type.google.com/rot.aspx?partner=766657&f=popup-u") in the browser when it click anywhere on any website.

That sounds like your router DNS settings have been changed to use a compromised/malware server
It is extremely unlikely that all your devices are infected by the symptoms you are saying
I have moved this to Networking so the experts there can talk you through how to rest to correct DNS in the router
What make and model router do you have

I run into this situation a lot at work... we have to blanket an area with WiFi to control A/V equipment, my go-to devices are usually Ubiquiti UniFi LR AP's. They get set up as per usual with the Unifi controller s/w and everything is great.

There are times though where there is existing networking/WiFi equipment. In a recent situation, we had two different manufacturers equipment and I was told to make the WiFi networks the same. Same SSID, same encryption type, same password.

I have always avoided doing that because not all gear plays well together. I can relate to WHY we'd want the same network - for ease of use by the customer, but my concern is that with the SSID being the same, on different APs, there could be a conflict of some nature. How is the hand-off handled between devices... that kind of thing.

Is there an absolute, hard and fast rule regarding this, or is it me who's being the stick in the mud? I've looked a bit on line (read not really all that deeply yet), but have not come across a suitable answer.
