Changing text colors for programs ?

Q: Changing text colors for programs ?

Several programs I use have dark backgrounds with dark colored text, such as black background with dark blue text, someone told me there's a way to change text colors in the programs through windows 10 settings, is that correct? if so how ?

Preferred Solution: Changing text colors for programs ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So about a year or so I decided to put some cool dreamscene I found online and I put it on my desktop. What happens is even tough the dreamscene plays smoothly there were 2 things always happening back then. First one was that ocasionally the dreamscene wouldn't "load" when I logged on it would just be a stuck image(this one isn't rly much of a big deal) and the second one is the colors of my desktop icons changing to a different colour making it almost impossible to read. And even tough I knew each program there was on my desktop by looking at the image it's still a little bit annoying.

Anyways I stopped messing with the dreamscenes shortly after that time but now I sort of created one of my own and I'd rly like to know how could I possibly fix the text colour thingie. I've already tried to change the desktop colours manually but it just doesn't do it at all. I've also tried to calibrate the colours accordingly with the background I'm using and the system still puts the text with some sort of transparency. As soon as I put let's say a classic theme or an aero theme from windows 7 the colours go back to normal.

Also you will probably advise me and ask: why would you want to do that anyways? it's just gonna slow down your pc.

Well I'm working on a project and I made this rly catchy video that's supposed to be running in computer screens exactly like a dreamscene. The purpose is to lure clients into taking a peak at said monitors. Anyways getting offtopic here.

Hey guys,

Well, I've been customizing my Windows for a bit and it went pretty well...
However, there's one thing I don't like about it:
The text of some menus appear to be the color that a disabled menu item would be.

See pictures below for explanation:

Well, as you can tell, it becomes quite annoying trying to figure out what things are allowable to click.

Does any one know how to get the text color to be different?

A:Windows Colors - Text?

If it can be done then it would only be through a new visual style but I'm not sure that it's possible even then. As far as I know this effect is controlled by the system so whatever colour text you have the inactive sections will always be a dimmed version of it.

Anywho, on to the topic at hand.

See that REALLY dark text that displays the size etc. of the file/folder?

That's the problem, I want to make it so it's grey, or at least white. Preferably a custom color, and problem is, I can't seem to find the right place to configure it.

I'm using a dark theme, I don't know the name. I really need help with this. And yes, I've tried "Change windows colours and metric" or something like that, I didn't seem to find an option to configure THAT specific text which is the problem.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Hey, I've been searching all day trying to figure out how to modify individual hex colors on my monitor. For example, I want a C34242 color (red) to displayed as FCFCFC color (white). How would I go about doing this? Is it even possible to change windows scheme at the pixel level?

Maybe someone here can steer me in the right direction. The best I could do alone was find "hex workshop" software that may be able to do it, but I don't know how you would use it on windows itself. any help

A:Changing Hex colors

You can't just arbitrarily change colors on your monitor, there's a lot of middle-man processes involved in displaying images on your screen in a common OS (without getting into details here).
If you want to change the color theme of your windows, just use the Screen Properties window (right click on desktop->Properties->Look tab). You can customize most of the colors of your windows there.

Also, there is no such thing as a hex color, a hex is a number.

Hi all

I am having a problem with some of my games. I was playing DX Ball, which I do often. I got to about the third screen and all of a sudden it started to wobble. It then made the colors go all crazy. It then goes to the next screen and it's fine again. I assume it has something to do with the driver. It doesn't do it on anything else. I thought I had fixed it by reinstalling the driver but it's still doing the same thing.

I have a Packard Bell, 400 MHtz, 64 MB Ram, 3 years old.

I was wondering if I need a new Video driver or more Ram. Just not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

A:changing colors

you don't mention how old your monitor is. wobbly screens, esp around the edges is a sign of age in a monitor (old tubes, too much heating and cooling.. something like that).

maybe you can check your monitor make and model (usually a plate on the back of the unit) and go to their website and get any firmware updates for it. if it's the same age as the rest of your puter, i'm sure there's been at least one or two updates for it over the years.

Click the Appearance tab, and then click Advanced.
In the Item list or in the preview window, click the Window element that you want to change.

All options for windows elements are available. In the color box, specify the the color you want to use. Once you are in there you can play around and see what you like. Once you have it set the way you want it, click ok to save your settings. I hope this was helpful to you.

Sometimes this happens at startup and some times it will change after the computer has been on for a while. Sometimes the problem is intermittent, changing between normal and the blue hue. My monitor is an AGM and the monitor is not the problem as I have hooked another monitor up to the T6420 and the problem still exists. I would appreciate any suggestions on anything to try or what the problem might be, or it is something that I can replace?.......

Hello and welcome to techspot, a number of problems can cause the symtoms that you are describing. First off check to see if the cable in the back of the computer that connects the monitor is tightly in, also check if their is anything with magnets near your monitor like speakers if so move it away, also the best way to know is if you test the monitor on another computer and see if you experience the same symptoms

Select>Color Range and click on the background. There are many approaches from here, but I would just select a large airbrush and paint it whatever color blue you want - the white letters won't be touched with the background selected so you can just quickly airbrush the whole thing.

One of my clients has a lot of Windows XP machines. Almost all of them, at some point, starts to look like it is automatically changing themes to look like a tan version of Windows 2000. The close buttons change to the older buttons, the taskbar changes to look older, the colors all get changed and blending goes away... I wish that I had a better way to describe it, but if its happened to you you'd know what I mean.

Here is a screenshot, unfortunately with an application crash on my own Linux box:
but the Windows in the background is what I am looking for with this issue. Notice the various blue and tan parts?

Often, some antivirus scans and a few billion Windows Updates fixes it, but what is the cause and is there any way to prevent it? This happens on all of their machines regardless of their level of patches, and I've even seen it happen on clean installations that I've not yet connected to a network.

These are all 2GHz or faster machines with 512MB or more RAM...

Hi, I've been tearing my hair out over this problems for the last couple of days. I decided to upgrade my video card from a 650 to a zotac 960 2gb AMP. All was well and it ran most games. However, upon changing the resolution or refresh rate of my monitor, the color of the whole screen would turn really dark and the text would become very blurry.

I've installed the latest driver for the new card and my monitor is listed as Generic PnP. It's a LG M227WAP monitor but I was not able to find any drivers for it, and it had worked perfectly before with the 650.

And also, just last night, some of the text on my computer became very small. I've attached a small image to show you what I mean. Icon images and stuff are normal sized, but google chrome titles and the right click bar are very small. I'm using 100% display scale which is what I've always used. It's never been like this.

I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks for reading this.
Edit: Oh, and when I was using the old graphic card with no problems, I was using VGA. Now I'm using HDMI because the 960 has no VGA plug. Maybe this might have something to do with it.

Hello all,

This might be difficult to describe... bare with me.

When I set a wallpaper to my desktop that has near solid color (like the attachment I have provided), I can stare at it and watch the grey color change hues ever so slightly. It's almost like waves or ripples. When I view the picture in Photo Viewer, it's fine. This only happens when I set it as a wallpaper.

I hope someone knows what I am talking about. Lol

Please help if you know anything about this. Thanks!

EDIT: Actually, just viewing that attachment allows me to experience the same issue. This is frustrating... anyone else see what I am seeing?

A:Wallpapers with Solid Colors Changing Hues!

So I might have solved it with my own troubleshooting. I figured it had something to do with power settings since it looked like Windows was trying to adaptively change the wallpaper. I made my own power plan and changed the adaptive power setting to off. Rebooted and now it's working as intended.

I like to play a game on my computer called "Mahjongg Master 2". Every time that I change the background at first I get a very nice looking picture. For example, a garden. Then when I choose this background it doen't look like a garden anymore. Instead it looks like a garden that was painted with pastels. This happens with any background that I try. Then another problem that I have is when I'm done with the game all I have to do is click on okay to put my name in the hall of fame. My name is automatically in the player box so I only have to click on okay and thats that. The problem is that everytime that I do click on okay after I win a game the screen starts flashing rapidly and I can't stop it. I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to exitb out of the game and start a new one. I think it might be due to the video card. I have a Phoenix+ Tri video card and it's 2Mb. I can't take it out and reinsert it because the video card is intergrated. Please help with whatever information you can give me.

A:(Resolved) Colors keep changing on me and screen keeps blinking.

Gamers donít spend hundreds of dollars for AGP 128Mb DDR graphics cards just so they can put it on their T-shirt. There is usually a setting in most games to downtune the background elements to work with less capable cards. Go through your game setup and see if you can't generate less background detail.

I donít have a guess about the hall of fame problem unless reducing the video load through the game setup cures it.

Is there a way to fix washed out colors on a Dell Precision 7510?  I am guessing this is a pretty expensive unit and the colors look washed out and difficult to read because the contrast is so poor.
Also text is tiny on this and scaling messes up everything else on the screen.  Some things are too small and others too big.  Its huge size differences.
I have tried all the settings to help make the text better and colors more clear but then the dark is too dark and the light is too light.  There is no middle ground here.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A:Dell Precision 7510 Colors Washed Out and small text

If that system has the Intel Display Power Saving Technology setting, that is very likely responsible for your washed out colors.  If the setting is available, it will be under Intel Graphics Settings > Power > On Battery, or thereabouts.  What operating system and display resolution is your Precision 7510 running?  Also note that in many cases, scaling changes require you to log off and back on in order to be applied properly.  Newer releases of Windows 10 and third-party applications have been getting better about redrawing themselves immediately so that this isn't required, but that's not universally true yet, so if you haven't tried that yet, see if you like the appearance of text and graphic elements after a logoff/logon cycle.

Hi all!

Also, frequently I encounter an 'Restore Active Desktop' error message, which causes the desktop wallpaper to disappear, and while attempting to fix this, I unfortunately lost the icon text background color; how do I fix this?
Just some small problems that I am trying to fix now before I am building myself a new computer...
Thank you very much in advance!

A:How do I fix missing environment variables and icon text background colors?

I would disable active desktop as it is a security risk. Right click an empty spot on the Desktop > Properties > Desktop tab > Customize Desktop button > Web tab > uncheck any boxes. If the desktop image changes then set it up to your preferred image.
For Enviromental Variable issue right click Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Environmental Variables button. In the System Variable Section click on PATHTXT. Press edit. If MSC is not in the list add it with a semicolon.  ;.msc

I have Windows XP and today I have found my computer severely messed up. I turned it on and pixels keep changing color at random and the computer always restarts itself before anything can fully load.

I inserted the XP recovery CD and it shows the same problem when run, with characters changing at random and even their colors changing. Various blocks on the screen also go black or change color. Tried booting with memtest and it
is having the same types of errors.

Will post what memtest says when it finally finishes, but in the meantime, any idea what could cause this sort of behavior? Has some hardware piece gone bad?

A:Chars, colors changing and screen elements vanishing

So I woke this morning and the DOS screen for memtest is a garbled mess of mangled words, pixels, and colors. No sure if the tests finished successfully or not, but I see a zero under the errors section. Given that characters were changing at random, I can't be sure if that is really supposed to be a zero.

Firefox > Tools > Options > Content tab > Colours > Uncheck "Allow pages to choose their own colours, instead of using my selections above"

Does this solve the issue?

My taskbar is the normal blue from WinXP, however it is now changing at random to beige. Along with that I keep losing my sound card, in device manager it shows active and enable but no sounds (other than system sounds) will play. When I click on the speaker on the taskbar it says no active mixer devices enabled. I did a system restore to a previous point and got everything back, then after maybe a minute or so the taskbar changed colors to beige and then I checked my sound and I had lost it again.

Thanks in advance for any help.
