Bios Recovery For ideapad laptops!!

Q: Bios Recovery For ideapad laptops!!

Goodevening, goodafternoon or goodmorning, whatever it implies for you.Today i would like to share some information on recovering bios after bios update failure or bad bios. Please follow the following steps.Disclaimer:- This would work for laptops with signs of life but may work for dead laptops.Download pheonix crisis tool and the respective bios files first. Now extract the zip file to the desired locationRun the bios .exe application where it will extract the main bios file. Go there and rename the bios file For.ex 30cn71ww.wph from that folder to bios.wph.Copy the Renamed bios file to the folder where you extracted the pheonix crisi tool.( extract it with wincrisis.exe file).Plug the usb stick ( not more than 4 gb or about 2-4 gb )Run wincris.exe > start > ok > ok > noNow plug the usb in the affected laptop and remove any power source such as battery and ac adapter.Hold Fn+R or Fn+f or Fn+B or Win+B key and then plug in adapter. Just after Plugging in the ac adapter, Press the power button .After this you will see the usb light blinking and hear the the fan running(yippe!!)You will then hear beep sound indicating that the bios is bieng reflashed. Leave the computer for about 5-10 Minutes. It will automatically restart. If it doesnt then restart the laptop manually. If everything went well then yippe your laptop is back and the bios recoverd with flying colours. This has been tested with the Lenovo Ideapad Y560 and it was suucesful!!!Hope this helps!!!Regards

Preferred Solution: Bios Recovery For ideapad laptops!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings everyone! Here is the problem, sadly, i am not the only one that has it- So, i have this perfect z580 ideapad which got a BIOS update before few years... and it started running slow, and some other problems appeared. So i want my old BIOS back. The new one is the 5FCN95WW... but sadly i have no backup of the old BIOS, i think it is 5FCN34 or 35WW. I saw tons of information around the internet, many posts here in the Lenovo forums, i've downloaded countless files, used many programs, even backed up my own BIOS and nothing. I haven't seen even 1 solution from point A to point B for "How to backup and then flashback to the old bios again if needed", so please, tell me what can i do.1: How can i obtain a file of the old good original BIOS 2: I have 2 Lenovo z580 laptops and just one of them is with the new BIOS, the other one has the old BIOS - can i somehow make a file of the old BIOS, transfer it to the other laptop and then flash back to it. Thank you in advance, i hope to see a good answer these days, which will save me much troubles.

Hi VegetaOSX,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform you that after updating the BIOS it overwrites the current version with the new version and is not reversible unless you had made a backup of the previous version, as an alternative I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance.
Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I?m sure they will be a great help.

Hey guys, I have a Lenovo Ideapad IdeaPad 100 14ibd - win10 and basically im planning on formatting my laptop to get rid of all the stuff/unknown files that are terribly slowing down my ram. But im still new to this process so im wondering if using Lenovo's Onekey recovery is a good thing but then i saw the Reset this PC feature of windows is another thing. My question is, what would be the more recommended thing i should do to get my laptop to its original state just like the new windows 10, or are there any difference within those  two?PS: I got my back up files all set from this laptop to my external hd already Thank you!

Hi.I have an IdeaPad 310 that shipped with a 2TB HDD that I would like to replace with a 512GB SSD.After speaking with Lenovo support i was under the impression that I should be able to use OneKey recovery to create a USB recovery image, swap the drives over and use System Retore to load a factory fresh OS on my SSD. I have prepared the Recovery USB drive. I am in the process of trying to initiate the OneKey Recovery system restore. This is where i run into problems. OneKey does not pick up my USB drive recovery image.Ok - perhaps the USB drive is not configured as a bootable device. I have used DiskPart to reformat the drive to NTFS format and make the boot partition active (diskpart active). My USB drive is too large to format as FAT32...NTFS is not compatible with UEFI...(?)... So in the BIOS I have selected Boot Mode as Legacy..., Disabled UEFI... USB is enabled. Now when i run OneKey recovery --> System restore... UEFI network boot does not start up, but i receive an error that no OS was found, remove drive and restart (or words to that effect..). What next? Do i need to Format in FAT32 in order to boot from the recovery drive?

Hi,
I have Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK type/model 80Q700DRSC.
I want to update BIOS, so I downloaded D5CN47WW. In text file it is written that this is BIOS for my computer.
Everything seems fine but when I execute BIOS exe file it says that this is BIOS for Lenovo Paris 300 notebook!
What Paris now? I tried to google but only can find Paris in France.
I am user of Lenovo notebooks for many years (from IBM ThinkPads to this days) but when txt Readme file said
this is update for your computer, it was! This is confusing for me so I cancelled update.
Can anybody explain this mistery?
Thanks in advance

Are there any laptops other than Lenovo (IBM) laptops with the facility to create a restore file with any changes since the last creation of an incremental backup on the "C" drive?

I thought HP once advertised this facility but I can not find any info on such a feature.

A:Laptops with included recovery facility

Acer's have a User backup feature.

Or just buy a backup program like Acronis True Image and do your own backups as you choose, when you choose too.

If you're reading this I'd just like to say thanks for bothering to read this

To put it simply, I have a huge problem, I dont really expect anyone to understand this.. but here goes.. (Im gonna include all details of the problem - to avoid the questions!)

Heres my spec..

HP Pavilion dv2000
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
T5250 @ 1.50GHz
987MHz, 1.99GB of RAM
106GB Hard-drive (Not including D
Thats the basics, anyway

The laptop comes with built-in Vista, and Ive been happy with it for the last year and 4 months, over this time the laptop has become slower and slower - as they do generally. I decided about 3 days ago that I'd had enough with Vista killing my laptop, and downloaded Windows XP. I successfully installed it, keeping D: just incase anything went wrong. The D: contains a backup of the other system, but Ill get to that later..

So, after installing this XP (which is infact a modded version), my system OS is now 'Microsoft Windows XP Professional 2003, SP3 - Black Edition'.
Ill post the spec of this OS if needed..

As you probably know, to install Windows XP or any previously OS released before your current OS, you have to format your hard-drive then boot the new OS from startup. I did all of this and installed fine - meaning I have no trace of Vista or any other file on my C:, BUT I still have it all on my Recovery Drive (D

So this is the problem (finally, lol), I have this new modded XP, but after installing it I realised I didnt back-up my l... Read more

Hello my friends ! A time ago i bouhgt two Lenovo ideapad 100 14 IBY (FreeDos Version) and install Windows 10 on it with UEFI and GPT Partition Table. All works fine until i want to play around with Linux and install UBUNTU Mate in UEFI on one of them. The install was easy but the Performance on Ubuntu with Bay Trail and the don't working Bluetooth was a reason to switch back to Windows 10. After that the Problem beginns. The Bios don't let me save changes anymore (only time and date !). There was no UEFI ESP and GPT Support since i install UBUNTU and the Bios Menu looks like that:Bios Entries on a blank DiskBootingThe Disk is Blank there is no ubuntu on there (Don't know waht the EFI Entries are no Hardware is connected). And when I boot also go to Network Boot there.(No Matter a USB Stick is connected). So what i did: # I Dismantle it and disconnect Battery and Cell and wait half an hour. # Nothing changes !# I change the HDD. # Nothing changes !# Reflash the BIOS by edit the plattform.ini - CheckByBios=1 - Error Cannot mount EFI Partition. # Nothing changes !# Install Windows 10 - Make mbr2gpt.exe and bcdedit and bootrec. # Nothing changes ! I can install and run Windows 10 in MBR and BIOS Mode on it. But no USB Stick was displayed in Boot Menu. So now Iam on my Limit and the Question is there a way to put UEFI and GPT back on it or does the BIOS locked in this State. For me UEFI is MALEWARE so why can a simple UBUNTU damaged my BIOS and ... HI, Please skip to paragraph six for the actual issue I am having--the preceding paragraphs include info that may help to identify how to fix this. I am posting this using my HP desktop running Windows 7 as my Lenovo Ideapad 110 cannot connect to internet as explained below: Firstly, Sorry if I am breaking community guidelines in any way with this post. I did multiple searches but only came up with "forgot my BIOS password-how can I reset it" type posts. I am looking for urgent help to get back into the "BIOS" of my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 running preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was running fine until yesterday. This is when I made the mistake of thinking I knew more about the system than I actually seem to lol :/ So, yesterday--I entered the "BIOS" screen upon startup using F2 (function key+F2). I went on to disable wireless connection ability (to test something unrelated), and also switched Boot from strait UEFI boot mode to legacy/UEFI boot-with UEFI being the default boot option.  I don't know if any of the above have to do with the issue I am now having but I wanted to share it just in case. Here is the real issue as of now: Also yesterday at the same time while in "BIOS", I also went on to set an "admin password", the one you must type in before you can even get to the lenovo splash screen to enter "BIOS". Basically I believe this is referred to as a POST password although I am not an expert cleary (hence asking for the experts' he... Read more

Hi, I have the ideapad 300-14ISK (80Q6) were it comes with a HDD of 1Tb, I recently updagre it with a 250Gb SSD from Sandisk, and the computer does not detect the HDD at first power one, but if I restart with ctrl + alt + supr it restarts and then loads win 10 without problems. bios version is: D5CN43WWEC version is: D5EC43WW I have reset default settings, enter the secure boot to setup mode, reset factory ec from bios, swap to legacy (just testing because win 8 and up must be on UEFI) and nothing works but problem was very identified because only happend when is SSD and detect until second boot. if I power on, then power off and then power on, it be considered as two cold power on so it does not detect HDD, for detect drive must restart after the first boot does not detect in order to work.

Hi All, We have disabled the 'Flash BIOS Updating by End-Users' setting in all ThinkPad laptops in our organization, becuase we don't want activities with high risk to be performed by end users, Recently 1 remote user with ThinkPad T440P received a popup window to install drivers updates through the Lenovo System Update utility, the System Update tried to update the BIOS and asked the user for the BIOS Supervisor password, the user tried to type his domain password 3 times and eventually he received a message that "Supervisor Password retry count exceeded. You have to reboot the system and try again.",The problem is that after the user reboot, the laptop shows a message of "0199: System Security - Security password retry count exceeded. Press F1 to enter setup",And the laptop doesn't alllow the user to boot at all without entering the Supervisor password, this is a problem becuase remote users will not be able to boot, and obviously we can't provide the password for users, I see that in T460 there is a BIOS setting of "Password Count Exceeded Error" which can be disabled to prevent this behaviour, so the laptop will not require to type the supervisor password in such case,But the T440P do not have this setting to prevent this behavior,My question is, what could be done to configure T440P laptops not to require to type the supervisor password in such cases, as this have serious impact on remote users who can't boot th... I turned on my computer last night and was locked out with a BIOS password prompt. Super frustrating and it takes a lot of time to send in laptop for "free" repair as noted on Toshiba Support Notice: http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaS...iceId=&dialogID=33671841&stateId=0 0 33673053

I found the repair info over several blogs and forums regarding this problem. It is a really easy fix, with just a little bit of work and patience. I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4014. This should also work on a A100 since they are of the same family.
1) like always with anything that you do when taking your computer apart, take out the battery and unplug it (common sense)
2) Remove the plastic cover piece above the keyboard, called the "keyboard bezel". this is the piece where you can see the speakers. This page gives several pictures as to how to do this. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a135/remove-mainboard-2.htm
**I found it a little bit difficult to get the plastic retaining clips to "pop" loose, but if you are careful, you can use a small screw driver and slowly "wiggle-pry" between the two screen mounts. this is done with the screen all the way back. you could use a paper clip with a little 1/8" bend at tip to do this also. (it is a tight working area) Once these three retaining clips have come loose the others are fairly easy to "pop" Just be patient and work it slowly. once this is... Read more

Someone with the username TTAV134 in other forums has removed the wireless adapter whitelist from the HP Phoenix bios v. F.33 and apparently, many other bios versions, too.  I can confirm that his version of version F.33 is the BOMB! I can now stick any old wireless adapter that I want and forget about seeing the dreaded 104 error on start-up. I'm gonna get me a hot new wireless-n adapter, now. Google TTAV143 and your bios version and go for it. Using the tools and modded BIOS.WPH files he provides, I first flashed with WinPhlash, then shut it down and stuck in a random non-HP wireless-n adapter borrowed from an ASUS Eee PC. It fired up like a rocket and installed the new drivers as Windows loads. I was connected and updating Atheros drivers from Windows Update in no time. I wanted to be sure, so I downloaded and ran WinPhlash v. F.33 from HP and got the error 104 back on start up. I then used the modded F.33 BIOS.WPH files he provided to prepare a bootable USB flash drive with good ol' Phoenix Crisis Recovery Disk v. 1.0.0.4 (Fujitsu) in the way I did it on the post "The EZ Way To Unbrick". (Link below). Phoenix 1.0.0.4 only seems to run on 32-bit Windows xp by the way, so I needed to create a bootable USB flash drive with his hack on one of those machines. Then I flashed it again using the EZ Way To Unbrick with the bootable USB flash drive prepared with TTAV134's fabulous BIOS.WPA file. It restarted perfectly with the card from my ASUS netbook. Thanks t... Read more

I know a BIOS update on my Latitude with Windows 8 and Bitlocker activated on the O/S drive triggers Bit locker recovery on startup. I don't have the recovery key and so am stuck. How to recover without the Bit Locker recovery key?

A:BIOS update without suspending Bitlocker has triggered a recovery and on start up I am prompted for the recovery key

The solution I found was to install the previous version of the BIOS, but without being able to boot into Windows, I needed to install the previous version of the BIOS in DOS. Some server products provide a F12 boot up menu option to roll back a BIOS update, but this is not available in my Latitude.

I downloaded the correct BIOS version (the additional info section made specific reference to it being installable from Windows or DOS). I prepared a bootable USB key (to a dos prompt) and copied the bios installer executable to the memory stick.

Because secure boot (UEFI) is enabled, it is not possible to boot up from USB key, so legacy boot mode needs to be enabled. There were 3 settings that required changing in the BIOS before I was able to boot from the USB key.

Once I was able to boot into DOS from the USB key and got to the DOS prompt, I ran the BIOS update exe. The laptop rebooted, installed the previous BIOS version and then rebooted again. I pressed F2 to get into the BIOS and changed back the settings as they were (secure boot UEFI). I then managed to boot into windows without being prompted for the Bit locker recovery key.

You able to export or view the Bitlocker recovery key by going to Control Panel -> Security -> Bit locker Management, and temporarily suspend protection (until the next reboot). It is possible to run a commandlet to specify the number of reboots bit locker should be suspended for.

You may find that installing the previous version of the ... Read more

The computer wont start.   After pressing "ON" one can hear a vibration sound, it turns on an orange LED.   Stays black for two  minutes; then screen does light to a dim night-blue color.     This is for a Split x2 13-g110dx (windows 10 64bit). Already tried:  hard reset and going to BIOS (Windows button + "B"). Also tried booting from  a USB drive.   It did not work (see screen below). Any suggestion(s) of how it can still be revived ("do it myself")? Thank you.                                       Screen message

Hello, i have a really annoying problem: Everytime i start my laptop, it wont boot up. The capslock button is blinking twice so i guess the bios is damaged. First i checked if there is a update for my bios on you driver/software download page but there isnt. So afterward i tried to recover and reinstall my bios but i cant even enter the bios update menu.In the bios recovery manual http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 it says:With the computer off, press and hold the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time.Still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 1 to 2 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows and B keys until the BIOS update screen is displayed or until you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps). But this isnt working. It only blinks twice continiously but wont boot. Can anyone help me? I cant find further information regarding this issue. I start to get really really annoyed by the problem because sometimes it takes up to 15-20 times to get the laptop running. Best Regards
