Internet Proxy Setting for one specific domain address

Q: Internet Proxy Setting for one specific domain address

Hi All

I want traffic to a specific secure website(*.paypal.com) to go through a Proxy server and port - on port 1818

Now, I know under Internet Options, you can specify a proxy address, but then all traffic will go through that Proxy. I want to direct traffic ONLY to *.paypal.com to go through the proxy.

Do you perhaps set this in the hosts file like this: 1818 *paypal.com
But I don't think this will work Any idea how to do this? certainly it must be possible?

Preferred Solution: Internet Proxy Setting for one specific domain address

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What's the purpose of directing traffic for that one website through the proxy?

A:setting up a vpn or proxy to access anywhere with address and port nu

Hello and Welcome ecair4151,

If I understand correctly, you want to connect to your PC desktop at home from anywhere including whilst at school?

If so, other than opening your PC up to exposer, the one way is to use Remote Desktop. But the Desktop needs to be XP Pro, XP MCE2005 or higher, Windows Se7en Pro or higher. Its easier if you leave the desktop on, but you can use free apps like magicpacket to wake a Desktop Up even when its left turned off.

If this is what your trying to do , post & I'll search the tutorial sec. for "Remote Desktop" and help ya a little easier. Don't know for sure if its there, but I'd bet the farm it is!

Our small office is not on a domain and uses a simple workgroup.
We can’t receive emails (pop or imap, standard ports) from our domain work email since two days ago when the company providing our internet connection changed/updated something to do with our internet connection (requiring new router credentials and a new IP address).
The STRANGE thing is other email accounts work fine if set up here (using the same kind of ports etc) and our work emails receive fine through other internet connections!
We have been in contact with both the company that provides our internet connection (we have two connections with them, one for pc’s & laptops and one for the phone system - which I've also tested with our email unsuccessfully) and the company that provides the email service. Both companies have not been able to fix this or pin point the problem.

Any ideas much appreciated!

I seem to recall that when you change the proxy settings for Internet Explorer, it's not just IE you are changing. IEs proxy settings are somehow the proxy settings for other apps and the OS as well. Can anyone confirm this? What connections are affected if I add a proxy in IE?

A:Internet Explorer Proxy Setting

The proxy settings in Internet Explorer preferences are for IE and any system function that needs Internet access, such as Windows Update. In a large network going through a company proxy server is often the only way to access the Internet. Many applications choose to use these settings while others have their own configuration options. Many will use the system setting by default but provide the means to override this. Applications are free to do whatever they want regarding proxy servers.

For some time I have been unable to send email to one specific domain. If I send a very brief message (literally a few words) the email will go through: if there is an attachment or more than just a few words in the message body I receive a delivery failure notification. I have checked with my ISP (BT connect) and the ISP of the recipient and there is no evidence that the problem is due to filtering, blacklisting etc.

I have no problem sending emails (with or without attachments) to any other domain.

My pc runs Win98SE and Outlook 2000.

I signed up for a hotmail account and was able to send an email with a large attachment to the affected domain using that. I concluded the problem was my ISP, but before changing to another I ran one more test.

I sent a large email to the affected domain using my Win XP Pro laptop, also with Outlook 2000. It arrived!

This suggests the problem is specific to my PC setup. The problem started some time ago (maybe a year or so) - before that I was able to send emails to the domain from the PC.

I'd be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions about what could be causing this problem on the specific pc.

I tried on two different pc's

has orange blocked this type of activity and i would have thought I could have ping the IP address ...

I doubt the ISP is blocking ICMP traffic. But what you need to verify with your friend is if he has the router configuration to block ICMP/Pings.

I have strange issue with Windows 8.1 x64 Pro with Media Center. Since it was upgraded from 8, there have been issues with Software Store. Despite internet connection working fine with Firefox and other applications, Store would not connect to the internet. After long investigation I found out that Proxy server setting in Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings must be disabled in order to get Store working again. For some reason proxy server only stays disabled for the current session, which means when the windows is rebooted it comes back enabled again. My question is how to make it stay permanently disabled, as I don't use any proxy. Thanks.

I tried a system restore and when it came back on it was doing something with new settings and there was never a box or anything with an option to make new settings from the restore. To all the fonts of all knowledge.
I have two questions which are simple ones but I cannot find or don't know where to start to look
Up until now we have supplied just software to our customer and now we are looking at providing the hardware as well as the support for said hardware.

1) The plan is that when we need to carry out any maintenance to the laptops, instead of me or one of my team jumping in a car/plane to the customers location to update the software (both windows and application), the customer connects the laptop to the
internet and dials into our Secure VPN so I can then RD into it to do all the work remotely. However the customer cannot have access to anything else in the outside world. I know it can be done as my wife's laptop cannot access the internet
but only through her company VPN. I want to do the same but not give the customer access to the internet at all just my external IP address so I can access it.
2) We will provide them with secure USB memory sticks to use but they can only use these ones, all others will be blocked. How do I do this?
Your thoughts will be very much appreciated

I've been trying to join a new Windows 7 Professional machine to a domain controller running Windows 2003 Server with no luck.  We currently have 4 Windows XP machines running on that domain without any issues, but when I try to add the Windows 7 computer,
here is what happens:

A computer account on the domain could not be found (confirmed it is already there)
I put in the computer name and domain again, and Administrator credentialsNow it tells me: "An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has failed."
I currently have DNS on the Windows 7 PC set to the Domain Controller and have IPv6 unchecked under Network Properties.  I can even ping the domain name (resolves to IP of the domain controller).  It looks like it can, indeed, find the domain from
the message in step 1, so am I missing something here?
Thanks in advance for any help!

A:Cannot join Windows 7 to domain even after setting DNS to domain controller IP

You need flush your DNS cache in client side first.
Then, let?s create the following registry value for a try:
 - Created a DWORD DomainCompatibilityMode = 1
 - Created a DWORD DNSNameResolutionRequired = 0
Reboot the machine and check the result again.Alex Zhao

Sounds like the computer was joined to a Windows Domain that one would typically find in a business type network. Is this your computer at home or work? If it's at home, was someone tinkering with it? The main issue really is that it's tough to remove it from the domain without the domain controller (main computer that's in charge of all the other computers) being present.

Over the passed week or so, we have been having problems receiving emails from a specific domain.

I've been in contact with our email provider and we cannot figure out what the problem is.

Can anyone see what the problem is by looking at this returned mail transcript?

As you can see in the transcript, they are able to send email to my gmail address fine. But when they try to send an email to a company address, it fails. We are receiving emails from everyone else fine though.

Yesterday I had them make sure they were authenticating with their smtp server but that did not fix the problem.

Now, I know under Internet Options, you can specify a proxy address, but then all traffic will go through that Proxy. I want to direct traffic ONLY to *.paypal.com to go through the proxy.

The hosts file is only for DNS mappings so by doing that your machine will try to request the proxy server for any paypal webpages which it won't have unless cached.

What is your need for directing traffic to that domain name only through the proxy? If you wish to explicitly deny access then an Access-List on a router could do the job or you could just set the proxy server as the default gateway and force all traffic that do not belong on the clients subnet to pass through the proxy.

If you could help us determine why the need is then it may help us to find a possible alternative to completing such task.

Hello to all,
I have 10 users working on VM's in Azure accessing VisualStudio (DevOps). These VM's are locked so nothing can be transferred outside the VM.
I need to protect the code in case they copy it and sending files to another email account whithin the VM by logging to office.com.
I am trying to configure a proxy server for use  , where I want them to login to office.com with their XXX corporate identity only ( and not with any other like YYY ) . The only easy thing is block XXXXXXX.sharepoint.com which is the only thing needed
and contains our corporate tenant name (XXXXXXXXX)
XXXXXX.visualstudio.com is allowed but then goes through a lot of links which if we allow we allow any tenant to login
Office starts with generic office.com and goes through a lot of links as well.
Is there a way of configuring the proxy to search of our tenant name within the long links and allow them to continue?

Kind regards

Hey everyone! First time poster here, I found this as probably the most suitable area to post this thread in, as I only have connectivity issues to a single site and the rest of the internet works fine. Please tell me if I was wrong.

I have, until recently been using Surf The Channel (www.surfthechannel.com) IP: for general browsing on a regular basis.

Suddenly, I am greeted with a network timeout message for a solid 2 weeks when using firefox (my primary browser) as well as IE. I am able to connect to the site using a proxy, however, the site is rendered useless, with external links not working and only partial functionality.

I am fully updated with firefox and flash player.

The forums on the site will not approve registration requests of people who applied via proxies so I am unable to register a profile to discuss my technical issue! I am an occasional user of said site and I have never accessed their forums or posted anything which could cause me to be banned from using the site.

My understanding of computers is moderate for a casual user. I am able to set up routers and sort out port forwarding for my xbox 360, I know my way around the basics, so if you need me to check anything, some quick instructions to get me started should hopefully be enough :)

Just as a note, my question is regarding connectivity to the site, of which I am NOT banned. I do not wish to discuss the content of STC or any of the controversies surrounding it, not would I w... Read more

A:Browsers unable to connect to specific site, yet able to via proxy.

Welcome to TSF!!

So, you are having issues with only one site well that is great we know what we have to deal with. For starters I would like to know a little about your system. Mainly what version of FF you have and if you have different themes or addons. You don't need to list all of them just a simple yes will do.

My main question has to do with why you have to go through a proxy to connect to sites. Or is it just this one site, I am a little confused? Also, I would recommend that you clear your catche, and see if that helps, as I would guess that it has been a while for that.

Start with that and lets see what we can come up with.

I have one computer on our domain that can't connect to a shared drive. All other computers can, and it affects everyone who logs into the machine. When you try to map to it, or even use the unc path in windows explorer, you get an access denied error. If
you try from any other machine it works just fine. The machine can connect to other shares on the server just fine.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I have been tasked with the job allowing a specific set of users to log on certain workstations. For example, only accounting users will have access to the workstations in the accounting department. They will not be able to use workstations in
other departments and other department users  will not be able to use the accounting department workstations. I am manually testing a few workstations.

What I have done so far:
Administrators Group
In the administrators group: I have Domain Admins and the Administrator account (I have to remove local admin rights for our users)
Users Group
In the users group: I currently have Authenticated users and interactive users.

I want to remove authenticated users and add the accounting group, system, and domain admins.
Is this ok to do? If I should not remove authenticated users, I need to explain why and document.  Thank you.

Any help on how to fix this?

Have you tried to filter the incoming messages using the "with specific words in the sender's address" choice? It works for me to sort out e-mails from people at specific companies without having to add new people each time.

I have a client whose IE keeps checking Proxy Settings, ONLY in the mornings first logon to the domain. Once unchecked, Internet works fine. The PC can be rebooted, relogged on 100 times and the proxy setting is not checked. It only is checked on the first logon for the day. This system was infected. Did malwarebytes, spybot, CWshredder, TDSSKiller, Full symantec scan, cleared the prefetch, checked windows scheduler, Ran Rootkit razor. Uninstalled and reinstalled IE 8. All these have not solved the issue. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

i have several LOB apps in the company (called BI portal and GFS) and a Sharepoint 2013 in which integrated auth are enabled and working for all my users.
recently, weve created a new user account (a service account, not tied to anyone) with a very complex password
this particular account cant login using integrated auth. using other users, works OK, the problem relies only in this particular new user. Windows 7 and IE 11
If i log in using my user account, works ok, i can login in all apps without typeing any password. Its a new machine, so i. ve logged in for the first time
Now, after loggin on with the new account, al apps pop messages up asking for password
WebSite is in a trusted zone, by GPO, using: http://10.*.*.* and http://*.company.net and using https too
In IE, the proper check boxes are enabled, regarding sent credentials, allow auto longon for trusted zones, etc.
how can i diganose?

Thanks for the responses and help in advance.

Search for Internet Options>>Connections>>Lan Settings>>Uncheck all check boxes expect Use Automatic Settings and click apply and ok, that should fix it.

What does it do when you set up your own proxy using google apps and python engine? I did that not long ago just to see if i could but dont know how a circular route would be any better (circular route- a google account traceable to my ip, setting up a proxy that uses said google account.) Whats the deal with this way of doing it?  Its worked to get passed certain blocked sites but then its also barred me from other sites that don't allow proxy logons.
