URGENT! HP Laptop can load XP, Blue Screen of death appears!

Q: URGENT! HP Laptop can load XP, Blue Screen of death appears!

Hi Guys,
I have just spent hours and hours trying to find info and solution for my problem but I have had no luck whatsoever. I hope someone here can help me.

Ok this is the situation.
I have got a HP Laptop that is about a year a half old, its top of the range. I had my laptop in Hibernate mode the other night and the next afternoon I went to turn it back on there was a blank screen for a long time, all the lights on the laptop were on but nothing on the screen. I turned the laptop off and then back on again. and BOOM! The blue screen of death!
The computer starts up with the HP logo and then it pops up a screen saying that a previous attempt to start up had failed and it gave me options to start up in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, start with the previous successfull start config, and normal start up. When i click ANY of these the windows logo pops up for about 3 seconds and then the blue screen, which appears for long enough for me to read 3 letters or numbers at a time. Then the computer restarts and we go through the whole process again.
This is what I have done in the hope of fixing it.
#I used my HP retore disks and it loaded disk 1 of 3 and it didnt ask for the other 2 disks which i thought was odd. But that made no differeance still the same start up process as explained above.
#The blue screen made mention of chkdsk and i read about some poeple on the net doing a chkdsk and it fixing similar problems. So i read that i needed a xp install disk to access the windows recovery console and type r. BUT i have a OEM installation so i have NO disks! So what i did was i got the XP Pro disk i have from a few years ago that i had on Desktop. BUT when it goes into recovery console it can not find any hard drives!
#Ive tried spinrite and it reads all the hard drives in the computer so i know that they are still there.
#I've tried to find some chkdsk bootable cd's but most are either floppy only or they only for FAT16/32 file systems, my file system is NTFS.

I'am convinced from the research done that if I can run CHKDSK on the computer then it should fix the file error and then i can at least back up my data and then do a full format and start fresh again. But I have to be able to get this computer running.

I just tried the "Last Known Good Configuration" selection and it says that the system32/config/SYSTEM file is missing.

I would welcome any help, as I have exhausted all options that I can see available to me. From what I can see, the biggest problem is that im running a OEM version of windows. But then again the recovery console couldnt find the hard drives, so i dont know.

Preferred Solution: URGENT! HP Laptop can load XP, Blue Screen of death appears!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

OK So I was installing something and Avira popped up and said it found a virus, I went deny access, around about 5 seconds latter the same thing came up for the same file, this went on about ten times and then I saw a BSOD screen for about 1/2 a second then my computer rebooted, Now its stuck in a BSOD then reboot loop, I pressed F8 and turned on Don't reboot after error and I got the error code which is: STOP: 0x0000024 I looked up the code it was the NTFS_FILE_SYS Error Code It said to run chkdsk /r and it said Another Process is using the drive, Cannot do chkdsk. Would you like to do chkdsk at next boot? I said Y for yes, Problem is, The BSOD is in the way so it can't do the chkdsk, Please help.

Hi Bleeping Computer,

Recently, Blue Screens of Death have appeared often when I'm trying to shut down the computer, or else it occurs randomly while I'm using the computer.
The most frequent message that appears is : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Also, I've had a month-long problem of links being redirected on search engines as well. For this problem, I've already tried to solve it with a A squared scan, a MalwareBytes scan, a Adaware Scan, and an AntiVir (the one with the umbrella) scan , but none of them seemed to fix the problem. What I should I DO??

Thanks in advance,

A:URGENT HELP...Blue screen of death

Hi

The BSoD, we'll need all the page info of the next time you get it. Also ghave a check if you have a minidump.dmp file C:\WINDOWS\Minidump. The disk error seems like a bad HDD or a temporary loose cable.

Run these checks please:

# Checkdisk:

- Log on in an Administrator privileged account
- Press the keyboard buttons: Winkey+r
- Paste in the slot: chkdsk /f/r
- Press: enter ( black window appears)
- Press: Y button
- Press: enter
- Reboot the comp
(this process is the longest, worse the screen may be lost before hours later the computer arrives at the welcome screen)

That will fix most repairable bad sectors it finds on your HDD.

#HDD Diagnostic Utility

- For your manufacturer/model, download its utility from here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
- Run a thorough scan and see if any errors are given.

Let us know what you get.

Hi all,

I have an xp service pack 2, and just recently when I boot my computer I recieve the message
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM .

I know how to fix this problem due to other threads. That's why I went to system repair with the xp setup CD.

I followed the steps of putting the CD in, pressing r for repair. But when the time comes to select the type of installation (enter the number) I press number 1, and then I press enter to proceed.

But when I press enter, the blue screen of death appears, and the problem is not fixed.

pleae help, it's my dad's computer and if he finds out he'll be angry at me.

Hey guys, I've had Blue Screen for quite a while now, it always boots up in safe mode, this way I was trying to temporarily disable Blue Screen, however recently it started popping up again and when it does, it only shows for a split second, I was lucky enough to get a picture, Here is the STOP code:
0x000000D1
Below that it says:
zmnzjdfe.sys
And the top is: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL I'm pretty sure this was supposed to be a programme that is causing the problem however I don't think this is a programme :P
I have absoluteley no idea what I'm supposed to do. Also, if you do have a solution please put it in simple terms as I'm not very familiar with coding errors.
P.S: I've also noticed that if I go to YouTube, the blue screen comes up, not every time but most, I was wondering if that was the thing that was causing the problem, however I don't think a site could cause a big problems as such.
Thanks alot! any help would be very much appreciated! :)

That blue screen error is because the Windows disc you're using doesn't have the correct drivers to support your hard drive. If you have a floppy drive, you can download the Mass Storage drivers for your mother board to a floppy disc and press F6 when prompted by Windows setup.

You could also go into your BIOS setup and change your SATA operation to Compatible mode (may be worded differently) for the installation. Or you can download the storage drivers and slipstream them into your install disc with nlite

Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron and whenever I turn my pc on a blue screen flashes and says Windows Cannot Load.. It goes directly to Startup Repair. However, That does not fix the issue.

I tried a Recovery Disk for Windows 7 iso and that does not work either.. It started rebooting back to the factory settings but when it completed, and restarted, the blue screen of death was still around.

I tried Command Prompt with Scandsk/ f I believe and that did not work at first because it was write protected.. I found a way past that and nothing. At one point it said boot memtest.exe is missing or corrupt.
Right now I got into a Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool.. I have no idea how I did but its checking for memory problems. The only way I got to this was by pressing the down button when booting with windows recovery disk via dvd drive.. and when it stated press any button to boot. when I press down it gets to this..

Is my hard drive fried? Can this be rectified?

I have ran PC burning test on the system and it passed without any issues. I have been monitoring temperatures consistently and average temperature for the all the CPU cores combined is 25 C or so. the GPU averages at 33 C at idle highest I have seen it go while running OCCT GPU test was 65C.

So far I have narrowed it down(in my opinion, not an expert) to either my GPU or my power supply. The computer shop I took it to for second opinion couldn't find anything wrong with the system except for the fact it crashes. PSU voltage was fine apprently but it still failed one of their PSU test and when I run OCCT PSU t... Read more

Last night after streaming a local radio station from back home I got a message that my HP computer was infected with a Trojan. I tried to close it with clicking the X and by stopping it through task manager but it wouldn't go away so I shut the computer down. When I tried to boot it back up it gets to the XP display screen with the load bar and cycles once, flashes to a blue screen and then loops back to the beginning of boot up and repeats. I tried starting in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Know Working Configuration and just about all the other options from pressing F8 but they all resulted in the same thing, blue screen and loop. I managed to get the BIOS SETUP UTILITY up but don't know what to do there so I don't want to mess with it.

I spent last night reading over a lot of your forums and there are many similar problems but nothing seemed specific enough. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A:XP Starts to load then blue screen of death flashes and it tries to boot up again

If you have a trojan - the boot files may be infected.
You may need to use a Rescue Cd.

Or back up your files and reinstall the operating system.

Hi, I'd be very grateful to you if you could help me fix my laptop.
In the middle of doing my work at the computer, the Windows XP keeps shutting down and I get this annoying blue screen background with white letters recommending among a several suggestions that I should try restarting my machine in Safe Mode and also consider removing some of my hardware or software that I have installed.
Having already removed some of the programs, this unfortunately hasn't prevented the Windows XP from its further continuous shutting down. First, it was shutting down every 1 to 2 hours, and now it's got even worse shutting down every 15 to 30 minutes on a regular basis.
My friend has asked me to reboot the system. But I don't want to lose all my software and files that I have all over my laptop, like in My Desktop, My Documents, Bookmarks, etc.
If I really have to reboot it, my question is How to save all my programs and files from losing or deletion?
Is there any other solution to this problem rather than rebooting the system?

Many thanks!!

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

A friend wanted me to look at her laptop to find out what's causing the blue screens. As I was using it earlier a blue screen popped up, but it was too fast to read(is there any way to get a screenshot of the screen?). Right now the computer is in safe mode and i'm running a virus scan(i'm not trying to find a virus, just trying to see if it's heating or a memory problem). I think it might be a driver conflict or something. Any ideas or wisdom to try out and see if I can get this working in normal mode?

Thanks

I keep getting this BSOD error. I have reinstalled windows 7 twice now. Run disk check and it came back fine as far as I know...I keep getting this error a few times a day now. My entire laptop just freezes up and then a minute or so later I get this BSOD error. I restart....it starts back up and either the same BSOD comes up right after or it runs ok for a while before I get the same error again. Sometimes it can run for hours until the error comes up, other times it happens right away.

Is it the motherboard? I had to sent my laptop (Asus G53JW) to the Asus repair centre and they had to replace the motherboard. About a month after this, I get this error often like I explained above. I started getting this around March 8th or so. After the first two times it stopped for a while but lately it's EVERYDAY and a few times a day.

I have a cheap dell laptop inspiron 15 3531 with windows 10 installed. Last night I got repeated blue screens, there was at least three or four different ones. The two that I managed to write down were; bad system config info and IRQL not less or equal. It said it needed to restart but every time it did it came up with another blue screen and then it restarted a final time and nothing came on the screen at all. I tried to restart it manually, but again nothing on the screen. The power comes on and I can hear the fan but that's it. I did a little research on my phone and it was suggested I take out the battery and power cable and hold down the power button...nothing, I removed the memory and put it back...nothing. I'm guessing a piece of hardware has failed. I have also tried to connect it to a monitor but again nothing. Anyone have any magical ideas? Thanks.

For the last 2 months I've been getting a blue screen that does a memory dump then crashes the computer. It doesn't happen every day, about 1x/week. I have already updated the machine and I think I updated all of the drivers, but I could be wrong about that.

I just scanned the computer and the results are attached. Anyone that can provide some analysis and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm close to just getting rid of the computer and starting fresh.

I'll try to be as clear as possible with the situation. I have an HP laptop that runs Windows XP. Now, whenever I start it after it gets past the windows loading screen the blue screen of death flashes and it restarts. And since it always pops up on start-up there is no way for me to turn off the 'restart on blue screen' option. So I have no way of seeing what the error is. I tried starting it on safe mode and all the other options and the blue screen flashes every time. I figured I would need some sort of OS disk and I found one, though it isn't the official HP one for my laptop (don't know where that is), whenever I try to reboot the entire system using the OS disk the laptop and overheats most of the way into it. My laptop normally can work for a couple of hours before overheating, but with the OS disk, the heat generates too quickly. So is there anything else I can do or am I out of options, I would call customers service, but my warranty is up and I just spent $80 buying a new AC adapter (and yes I know I was ripped off on that). So can anybody help me?

A:Blue Screen of Death Issues (HP Laptop)

From the F8 boot menu screen you should be able to turn off "automatically restart", and thus atleast read BSOD parameters.

But frankly this is not likely to be much help if you cannot start in Safe Mode and this is an underlying hardware problem.

With the XP disk that you have, on another computer, you might try creating the bootdisk below and see what you can do with it; it will run as a "virtual" windows. If you still have problems -- you can be certain they are hardware.

A puppy linux booter is also good to test hardware with.

A:Blue screen of death on a Dell laptop

Hi hkopene019057

My name is Anrick ,I work for the Dell social media and community
You have mentioned that it usually occurs when you are playing a game, so I would suspect the problem to be related to your Video drivers or the video card itself
First thing you can try is updating the Video driver from our support site ( www.support.dell.com) selecting the correct model of the system.

In order to help you better with the issue I would like you to answer to these questions
1. When usually these blue screens occur?
2. Do u get an error code or error message if yes what is the code/message?

The Blue Screen of Death (also known as the BSOD) is a screen that Windows shows you when it shuts down your computer in order to prevent damage to it. It's also known as a STOP error or as a BugCheck Code. It is a hardware error by definition - but this doesn't mean that it's caused by faulty hardware. Viruses, corrupt drivers, and even poorly written programs can cause it.

How to Find BSOD (Blue Screen) Error Messages: follow this link
How To Find Bsod Error Messages

3. What happens after the blue screen, do you have to restart the system, it restarts itself or it comes back up normally?

hello,
I'm looking for help with my 2005 acer laptop which won't boot up even in safe mode, I do however get the blue screen of death.
Brief history : I got a new laptop a few months ago so I put the old acer away. I decided to give the old laptop to a family member so I retrieved all my important data from the laptop and reset it to factory settings. This all worked fine and of course it went back to vista OS...once I finished all the updates (this took quite a while) I then updated to windows 7 which i was using before on this laptop, again this was successful. As I continued to install programs I had previously on the laptop (malwarebytes, Panda anti-virus etc.)..everything installed and worked properly so I continued to install windows office...the laptop rebooted several times successfully, until...the blue screen of death appeared..at this time I tried to start in safe mode to no avail...the laptop would try to repair itself and came up with the 'contact the manufacturer' screen...since this is an old laptop that had been running for quite a long time I feared I damaged some hardware...I managed to get to the 'reset to manufacturer settings' default screen by hitting the F key on start up, but it required a password...the default password, apparently in 000000..this did not work and I don't have any other password, so now I'm at a standstill...I have used your expertise before successfully and I hope you can help again...I've attached screen shots of the errors...thanks ... I was given this laptop a few days ago and it was not working when I got it. The previous owner said it just stopped working one day. It's running (or actually, NOT running) Windows XP.

When I start it up:
It displays the IBM logo screen
Then displays black screen saying there was a problem starting windows, start windows normally, safe mode, etc. - selecting "start windows normally"
Then the Windows XP screen with the loading bar
Then goes to the blue screen of death (every time), Even when trying to boot in safe mode after it hangs on this:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\agp440.sys

it still goes to BSoD

Before a removed the battery and held down the power button for a minute, it would do all of the above, except going to the blue screen of death, it would just go to a blank black screen.

Need help getting this thing to work!

If you simply boot your laptop and do not try to connect to the internet, run any games, in fact, don't try do do anything, then does the laptop boot successfully and not blue/black screen/freeze?
