Windows 7 DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5) problem

Q: Windows 7 DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5) problem

hi all I am facing a problem which is my laptop blue screen randomly when i start up.
I have uploaded mine minidump output . can anyone help me to solve this please?

Preferred Solution: Windows 7 DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5) problem

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

I experience at least a daily BSOD on my new Dell XPS 15 (9550) running Windows 10.  DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL.  ntoskrnl.exe+151d0
Have you updated to the latest BIOS? Yes.
Are your drivers up to date?  Yes.
Are you running the Samsung version 1.1 driver for the NVMe SSD?  Yes
Are you using UEFI in AHCI mode?  Yes
Have you reloaded your operating system from scratch?  Yes.

I am sorry to read that you have been getting these errors.
If you haven't already done so I do suggest running diagnostics and see if they can fine any possible hardware difficulties.
You mentioned reinstalling the OS from scratch, I have found too many times when dealing with defective hardware that reinstalling windows wont always go that well. Often errors will occur during the reinstall period and some times the reinstall may be halted altogether.  When reinstalling Windows did anything occur, any errors, hangs or lock ups during the install?  If not, when after the install did you start noticing the problem again, and what application, or driver was installed just prior to when the blue screens returned?
I know that this can be frustrating especially on a new system. Please let me know the results from the diagnostics, and if there was any abnormalities while reinstalling Windows.

Your issue seems to be probably caused by "Avast antivirus".

Welcome to the 10forums.

It seems you are running 2 Anti-Virus programs at the same time.
Running more then 1 Anti-Virus programs at the same time causes conflicts for the system and will have as result problems like performance issues or bluescreens in your case.

Hi guys, this is my first post and I really need your help!

My parents machine just started crashing randomly the other day, no new hardware has been installed recently, and I've run memtest86+ for a while with no errors being reported.

The only other possible error I've been reading about for this error is antivirus (I'm using Avast 4.6.691)

I'm really at a loss as to what to do next!!! Any suggestions are most welcome!
I've attached the minidump for your info...

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable.

I started dabbling into overclocking my CPU just yesterday , following many guides and doing so slowly and "safely". I've found a mild OC of 4.2 GHz with stock voltage works well, and is enough for me.

While running OCCT to stress test the stability of the overclock, with a temperature auto-stop set if it hits 80C, I have been experiencing a BSOD. Yesterday it took around 8 hours of testing before the crash, today only about an hour.

I have not yet run Light wave my 3d rendering software yet again since the blue screen but would like to try to figure out what driver has caused this issue. A few months ago i had a similar issue and it had something to do with a USB 3.0 key driver or something that light wave needed. As far as im aware all my drivers are up to date and I cant think of any new software that i Installed recently that would cause an issue. If any more information is required as to the specs of my pc please let me know.

It seems to come in waves. The system will crash with this error at seemingly random times than reboot into the error a couple of times before settling down.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Hey there.

All of your crashes are precisely the same C5 bug check, so I do not suspect a memory issue at this time. I do however, suspect some driver as the culprit.

Want to fix your machine? I'm sure you do.

Uninstall Symantec/Norton software with the tool they offer to do so.

Reboot and set the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender services to automatic and start them too. Type services.msc into the start screen then press Enter to get to the settings page for them.

Have fun.

On another note, if you have a Microsoft Keyboard and/or mouse attached to this system, try to update the driver from them:

Select the ?Startup? tab.

Working with a Dell E6540 on Windows 8.1. I've been chasing this BSOD for most of the week, and some days I think I have it licked, but then the next it comes right back... and is repeatable. The Stop Errors sometimes indicate a specific driver, but not always the same. The machine has latest Symantec Endpoint Protection and Cisco AnyConnect VPN client. Interestingly enough, the machine does not crash unless connected to the VPN, but we've uninstalled/reinstalled and done as much troubleshooting as possible, and still not sure what set this off. The errors started almost an entire week after the AnyConnect Client was updated, and before the latest SEP build was installed. (All Windows updates applied Any help is appreciated. Hi trostc,

Welcome to the 8forums.

Symantec tried to empty a block of memory with a specific tag which didn't exists, the reaction on this was delaying the action where after the tagged memory was being moved to the virtual memory (page file) which went wrong because of the problem with the non-existing memory reference.
That is what caused the crashes.

Please reinstall Symantec

I have had a reoccurring BSOD error that has been popping up since approximately 07/31/2014. Troubleshooting steps taken:
I have uninstalled any and all antivirus/antimalware software I thought could be conflicting. Previously I had Avira AV, which is no longer used and I also had Spybot Search & Destroy. Both of those programs have been uninstalled since then and it seemed to make no difference. Currently I am running Forticlient.
I ran Memtest to check my RAM and it completed 2 passes w/ 0 errors. I ran this from a USB flash drive w/ Hitron's Boot CD. Attached are my BlueScreenView's Saved text file & DX Diag.
When the blue screen occurs it seems to be fairly random. I've seen it occur while playing various games, doing general web browsing or other misc activities. One other problem I have seen is the computer throwing a BSOD on shutdown & intermittently and often restarting instead of shutting down after a shutdown command has been given from the start menu. I have also witnessed this BSOD occur while in Safe mode w/ networking as well.
This computer was a new build as of November 2013. No problems were experienced until July of the following year and no new hardware has been added aside from a single HDD which was formatted (NTFS) and is only used for data storage that is rarely accessed. NO OS or programs are installed on that HDD (Drive F)
My OS is on Drive C and is a SSD.
Any ideas? I am at a loss.

sorry, not sure what I am doing to generate this error.

I have recently had problems where the network connection fails and I cannot connect to any sites.

I cannot bring up the task manager and when I try to restart the system just freezes. I can close my open programs and save.
This has happened maybe twice in the last week, but does not always result in the BSOD so may not be related at all!

I have attached the system info dump - but i removed hosts - i develop on this PC and I some of the sites are under non-disclosure agreements.
If hosts is really required, let me know and i will remove the sensitive sites and post up.

System install is reasonable fresh [replaced the C drive just before christmas] and the updates should be applied.

Hi! I have a few problems with a few difference softwares. I thought it would be best open on thread with all the problems other than opening multiple different threads.
My Problems are:

1) I use mozilla firefox and i have a problem opening PDF files. When i click on a link which leads me to a PDF file, the following error message pops up.
"The adobe acrobat/ reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Wev Browser and try again."
When I use Internet Explorer, I get a similar error message.
"The adobe acrobat/ reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Adobe Acrobet/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again."
This message tells me to exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader. I don't exactly know how to do that.

2) The other problem I have is with Windows Live Messenger (MSN). This messenger allows you to draw in a conversation. They have a handwriting tool. The problem I have with this tool is that when I use it to draw something, what I draw doesn't appear on the place where I am suppose to draw before sending the message. But when I click send just by drawing something with seeing what is happening on my screen, I will be able to see what I drew in the message sent part of the window. I know this is confusing but it is hard to explain. So basically, while drawing something, I can't see it but when i send it, I can see it.

My first problem is that, apparently, you cannot make the screen brighter on some lenovo laptops with windows 8. The Brightness- button is working, but once you make the screen dimmer, you cannot make it bright again using the brightness settings. I found out however that you can revert by rolling back some drivers. It worked every time when my screen would get dimmer for whatever reason. Yet, yesterday, it happened again and I forgot what to do about it and I ended up uninstaling the Intel Graphics 4000 driver from my computer by mistake. When I tried reinstalling it, it would display the following message:
"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
I thought that I could undo all of this adventure of mine by using the system restore and revert back long before this all started. However, every time I tried to use system restore it wouldn't work, due to "error 0x80070005", recommending that I turn off my antivirus in order for the system restore to be able to access a certain file. I went as far as uninstalling anything reminescent of an antivirus from my computer and disabling windows defender. However, it is still not working, displaying the same error.

So, here is what I need help with:
Solving the error code 31 of my display adapte driver.
Solving the error 0x80070005 of the system restore

Any of these are appreciated. Thank you.

If that Lenovo has the intel driver download on the Lenovo site - download it from there NOT the latest from Intel
Alternatively if Lenovo does not have it for your laptop try this one

checking that I have selected the correct one for your processor

Try that and when I return at 1800 hrs - I am in the UK I will come back to you to attempt to solve the other issues
Please post the full model of the Lenovo

Intel 520 series SSD
Dell U2711 27" Monitor
Win 7 Pro

I can move icons/windows up, right, left perfectly smoothly - HOWEVER

When I try to move them down, OR try to grab a scroll bar with the mouse and move it down, OR try the resize a window (either by grabbing the top or btm of the window) in a downward motion it will move between a few mm to a few cm then stop - and I have to regrab it with the mouse .... it can take a dozen attemtps to move a window or an icon to the bottom of the screen.

In fact moving sideways with a downward motion causes the same problem.

Any movement to the right, left or up moves totally smoothly......

Any suggestions? It's doing my head in !!

(NB. All motherboard, GPU, windows files are fully up to date.)

A:Moving windows/icons down problem!! Move right/left/up - no problem

Doh - just been for a walk and it suddenly dawned on me that I was having similar problems with my old computer (although not the the same extent).

The only common denominator was the mouse.

Sure enough, plugged in an old mouse - and all working fine!!

Sorry guys - but if nothing else a lesson in the need to sometimes go back to basics!!

Haven't had the need to use my printer in a couple of weeks, so I don't know when the problem started. It is a Brother HL-2270DW that has been problem free. There are tests that can be tried using the printer itself and it says it has a good connection and should be functioning.

Nevertheless, when I click on print, the available choices are Microsoft XPS Document writer and Fax; the Brother unit is not included as an option. When I enter the control panel and look at the devices, my printer is mentioned with a Troubleshooting necessary indicated, but letting the troubleshooter do its job does not provice any suitable result.

I returned to a restore point the 23 of this month, but am not wanting to go much further back, because except for the printer problem, my computer is working great, and I don't want to remove necessary updates, etc. that might create a whole new problem.

I have shut down for half minute and restarted the printer to see if it might provide a benefit, but when I restart the printer, it's self trouble shooting feature suggest that the unit is both attached and working properly. Toner is over 90% remaining. BTW it is wifi and my router seems to be working perfectly. Drivers are latest.

Thanks for any input!

A:Printer problem needs guru. Looks like Windows not Brother problem.

Do you have it setup as a wireless printer? If so, reinstall the printer driver but use a USB cable initially.
Once that is working then setup wireless.

If you don't have the CD or can't find it, the drive is available from the Brother web site (I have the same printer).

I have since a cupple of days the following problems with my computer:

When i boot it up and the windows password shreen comes, i cant log in because the part of the logon screen with the username, password field, password hint etc. is missing.... here a screen shot of it (yea, its in german...guesse were I am from!):

So I logged in by pressing ctr+alt+delete twice. I used the username that was in the loginbox and since I don't even have a windows password (!), I just lett the passwordfield free and I could log in without problems. later I noticed that the account I loged in to has not admin rights but is only an visitor account. Unfortunately I dont remember what my login name is since you dont have to type it in on regular bases in windows xp.

After that I tried to boot up the computer in safe moode to get to the account "administrator" which is without password. But my safemoode seems not to be working too! I just used it several days ago and everything was ok. But now, when i boot it up in safemoode the computer turns itself of right before the loogin schreen comes!

I did several things with my computer right before I had these problems that could in my oppinion possibly have something to do with my problems.
I addded a password to my useraccount but i made up my minde and deleted it right away again.
I also did some work with the regestry, but I dont realy think that that schould have anything to do with my problems since I was very... Read more

Hello, sry for the double post but I think its clearer like this than if I would etit the first post.
I just solved my problem on my own, here what I did, for the case that somebody has a simmilar problem or is just interested.

I just gave it another shot to get into the save moode and this time it surprisingly worked. I logged into to the account "administrator". Than I whent to Start/ Run and whent to "control userpasswords2". My username was in the group "debugger users" instead of "administrators". I changed this and now everything is normal again!

I am still wondering how this happend and why i could not enter the savemoode (and why it probably worked again)..... if anybody has ideas, i would be interested!

hey guys. i have seemed to run into a problem and some help would be appreciated. the story goes like this.

yesterday i came home with a semi brand new 60gb maxtor hard drive in my hand. i have a 120 gb hard drive already in my dimension 4550, and i thought hey, i got this for free from a friend so why not use it. I take the original drive out so it was less annoying for me to work in that small space, and put both drives back in. i must have gone wrong somewhere because when i booted up, it said that primary drive 0 was not found. after a while, i got the computer to recognize both drives. the 120 gb is a western digital and the 60 gb is a maxtor. even though the computer is recognizing both drives, when i go to boot, after the first part (the DELL sign and the loading bar), it is just a black screen with a blinking _. and after that it will boot to cd because as of now i have the xp professional installation disk in there.

now, when i run the ide drive diagnostics under the boot screen it recognizes both drives but this one word scares me. it looks something like this

wdc (the western digital drive) - thenabunchofnumbers - Fail - return code: 7
then the same thing with the maxtor drive underneath that.

i wouldnt really have much of a problem just re-installing windows onto the original drive since i didnt have anything that was irreplacable on there, but when i go to system recovery and the chkdsk option, it recognizes that there is an installation of windows o... Read more

Hi exodent and welcome to the TS Forum

you dont say how you connected the drives, or if they are IDE or SATA, did you

a) put them both on the same cable and set the jumpers correctly.
b) put them on seperate cables but have a CD or DVD on the same cable somewhere.

If its A then its possible that you have set them so that Primary drive 0 is now Primary drive 1 and thats why it wont boot.

Take out the drives and start again from scratch, find the one with the OS and make sure the jumper is set to Master and if you are using a cable that allows you to have 2 drives on it make sure it goes at the end of the cable and see if it boots.

If it does you now need to set the other drive as Slave and put it on the same cable and use the other IDE connector .

If it then misbehaves again and everything is set correctly then its possible that you have a drive that doesnt like having a Slave device attached to it, some IDE devices are like and your only choice is to put the 2nd drive onto the secondary IDE channel, again make sure you check the jumpers of any other devices you have on the channel.

Lastly some BIOS's allow you to set the boot device by actual connected device, such as primary device 0, primary device 1, for those that have this type of BIOS it means that they can have 1 or more drives with an OS and use the BIOS to decide which boots, other BIOS's just have the choice of HD or CD or Floppy in the boot order.

Cannot break this loop. Have been running W10 for 2-3 months and cannot roll back computer.

Cannot understand why system calls for "old password" when I do not know the old password, which is the reason for trying to create a new one.

The problem occurs with all applications that allow child windows. Does anyone else have this problem? How can i solve this issue?

Uninstall McAfee using MCPR. You can refer this article for instructions on how to use it.

After that I suggest you install Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows as your only antivirus. It's much better than McAfee.

Hi, I was getting an error with dwwin.exe when I shut down my computer at home, so I looked up the error on the internet and it told me the software I had install for my joystick from the company website, can cause this error, so I uninstalled it like it said, but when I clicked remove in add/Remove program window my computer restarted, and when it loaded windows my mouse and keyboard did not respond. I restart my computer and booted from the windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM. I ran windows recovery to see if that would fix the problem. But it did not, so I reboot into MSDOS and delete the windows directory, restarted my computer and booted from the windows CD-ROM to do a clean installation, when all the drivers were loaded and setup was ready to run, my keyboard and mouse stop responding. Is there a way to fix the problem, I did a virus scan and did not find anything. Do you know what the problem could be and how to fix it?

Thank you

A:Windows 7 boot problem and installation problem.

Try working through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot . You'll need to disinfect to make sure it will repair, then confirm the Active partition and run the REpairs as given. Everything is there to try to get it started, up to if necessary rescuiing your files to run Recovery or Reinstall.

If this is factory OEM and it requires running Recovery or Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 you can upload 7gb storage to MS Skydrive with each WIndows Live/Hotmail ID. Later your can even Sync Any Folder to Your SkyDrive Account.

First off, I had System Restore turned off - so I'm screwed there.

I rebooted my PC (HP Laptop, XP Pro w/latest updates) and the first thing I noticed was the icons on the desktop looked funny. Instead of the "shadow" around them, there was white, like the graphics depth was wrong. Then, I saw the little icons near the clock showing up in small boxes! When it finished booting, the START button was not there.

If I press the Start Button key on the keyboard, a start menu appears, but it looks odd. It show up in the upper left corner of the screen, and there are no icons in it at all. If I select Programs, the menu does open up, but again no icons.

When I start Windows Explorer, I can see the files and browse the PC, but the view is strictly large icons. I cannot change them as they remain as large icons.

Whenever I try and access anything with the MMC, I get an error stating that the application needs to be reinstalled.

Another thing, when I get to the display properties, any changes I make do not take effect. Resolution, color depth, no change at all.

I do not think that this is virus driven, I think I screwed something up with Windows. This happened after I ran a CleanUp4.0 on the PC, to get rid of all of the temporary files and stuff.

Prior to running CleanUp, I did my regular NAV, AdAware and SPyBot scans, and I even did a PandaActive Scan today.

I was able to use Windows Explorer and drag my Outlook Express data and the My Documents folder... Read more

UPDATE: This problem was caused by CleanUp! 4.0. I guess it's happened to quite a few people who have XP. Not sure if it's version specific, because I used this program before after a SpyWare run-in, at the suggestion of the crew here, and it worked flawlessly. The version that I used today, I downloaded today,

So - If you have XP - DON'T USE CLEANUP 4.0. The programmer indicates that version 4.5 should be better. I checked out their forum and there are people in the same boat as me.

Allegedly, booting with the XP CD and doing a "(R)epair" will replace the files that CleanUp erroneously deleted. I will report back to this thread the results, as this will undoubtedly happen to more folks.

Thanks in advance for any and all help. :)

This one got me by surprise.
Either somethg snuck past Kaspersky, or I clicked on something other than Deny by mistake when a Trojan warning popped up (which was probably the case).

When booting up my computer,
I was greeted by a Windows - No Disk - exception processing message.
If I clicked on Cancel, it would continue to pop up periodically.

Also, the Windows Security Alert box keeps telling me Windows Updates are disabled, and that I have no Virus protection,
even though I am running a continually updated Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7,
and the Windows Update menu in the Control Panel says Updates are enabled.

After running through all the steps you have laid out,
the pop-ups seem to be at bay, and the Windows - No Disk error hasn't popped back up yet

But the machine is sluggish, the Windows Security Alert problem still persists, and my browser continually refreshes as though it is trying to load something.

Below is the HiJackThis log,

BUMP, please

Also, an update since I originally posted this.

I already had Spybot installed prior to the problem, so I loaded Spybot Tea Timer to give me some sort of added protection while waiting.
It nuked numerous attempts by Run32dll.exe to access various dll files in the System32 directory, as well as adding various strings to the Registry.

During this time, the machine was extremely sluggish, but I could still use it to some degree.

But something happened yesterday, and now my machine won't even boot up. :(
I can't boot up in regular mode or in Safe mode.
All I get is the dreaded blue screen with a C000021A error. :(

I'm fortunate enough to have a backup drive that had all my working files, so I could continue my work on another machine.
But I stopped the backup when the problem popped up to avoid infecting any of the files on my backup drive.
So all of the data from the 3 days the virus problem started up is lost to me at the moment.

Please advise.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
If we clean this up like you did when helping me a year ago on another machine,
I'll be sure to donate again, like last time! :)
