Lenovo Ideapad Z710 Fan Constantly running on Wind...

Q: Lenovo Ideapad Z710 Fan Constantly running on Wind...

Hi, I have tried everything I can think of to try and get my fan to not run nearly 100% of the time. Drivers, BIOS, complete reinstallations of windows, compressed air, physically removing the back of the laptop and cleaning the fan by hand, about 50 different internet solutions; nothing works. Also the temperature is fine, running around 35 degrees, so it's not that. Help would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

My girlfriend's lenovo ideapad Z710 won't boot up past the Lenovo splash screen. She turned it on this evening and it just keeps refreshing to the Lenovo splash screen. She can't access the bios as far as I know, and she tried the CMOS battery thing as far as I'm aware and that didn't work. It won't boot into the OS and just keeps refreshing to the Lenovo splash screen. Any help would be appreciated. it's a fairly old laptop but it's needed and we can't seem to get it to boot up again.

Hi to evreyone! So recently I bought a brand new Lenovo Z710 (i7-4700mq, intel hd 4600 and nvidia gt745m). I then installed windows 8.1 (genuine) and all the drivers on the cd that came with the machine. But it seems there is a big problem with the graphics card. Nvidia gt745 seems like its not there. The Geforce Experience and nvidia control panel fail to recognize it, although it's there on Windows Driver Manager. When I try to load a game (WOW) it crashes on the loading screen. "Display driver has stopped responding..." bubble appears and a minute or so afterwards, there is a bsod. The game works on the integrated card (intel hd 4600) when nvidia is disabled or its driver is uninstalled.I tried reinstalling the drivers, downloading and installing the recent ones, removing all graphic drivers and reintalling them in different order, tried safe mode, changed some bios settings, but still nothing happened.Could this be any kind of driver compatibility issue or simply a windows thing, or is it a hardware problem? Could the nvidia be faulty or the laptop itself? I want to try anything before turning it back to where I bought it for a look... So your ideas will be vastly appreciated. Thanks!

I was in the middle of using my laptop just fine, when the screen suddenly turned black with the cursor showing. After a while I did a force shutdown. After turning it back on, it start showing me the issues below. I?ve tried looking up various issues online, and can?t find anything exactly like my own situation. I can?t get my laptop to boot up properly.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z710 - Type 80AK - Model 59433087
SN: xxxxx

1. Switching between UEFI and Legacy doesn?t work (I?ve tried all sorts of combinations and it doesn?t fix anything). Situations for what occurs in each of them are listed below.
2. My hard drive is making continuous beeping sounds.

? In UEFI: says ?EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (D8-97-BA-3D-D1-A3) boot failed?, then ?Checking Media?, and lastly to ?EFI Network 0 for IPv6 (D8-97-BA-3D-D1-A3) boot failed?. Afterwards it goes to the ?Default Boot Device missing or Boot Failed? screen. At the Boot Manager, only the IPv4 and IPv6 devices are available (even when I have other devices connected). If I click on one, it then says ?No Bootable Device - Restart System?

? In Legacy: it says ?Check Cable Connection! PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM?.

A:Lenovo Ideapad Z710 - No Bootable Device

Good day and welcome to the community.Sorry you're having difficulty.
The messages you're seeing mean that your hard drive is non-bootable, either a hardware failure or the Windows boot "stuff" is corrupt. When that happens, the BIOS tries to step through boot-up options, and often the last is an attempt to boot from a network server (via PXE boot).

If you boot your machine to its BIOS, is the HDD even showing on the Startup tab? If not, it's most likely a true hardware issue.Regards.

Hey, I have an afterglow headset for gaming. It has a line out 3mm headphone jack on it, and a USB.
Usually, the USB controls the Mic, and the headphone jack controls the audio. But when I plug it in, the sound is coming through the USB (Chat volume), unless I plug it into another power source, like a wall charger for phones. Than the sound will come through the headphone/Line out jack, allowing me to use the Bass boost feature. My brother has the same headset, and it does the same on my computer, and I have no idea why. The sound sounds like garbage coming through the USB. Also my laptop only has one Line out jack. I think the Line in and Line out jacks are combined into one. I don't know if that is messing it up.
So when I have the USB and Line out plugged into my laptop, the sound level is controlled by moving the adjuster to the "Chat" volume, rather than the "Game volume". But if I plug the USB into a wall wart, and the headphone jack into the laptops line out jack, it's normal and controlled by the game volume adjuster on the headset. But than the MIC won't work since it's through the USB.
Any ideas??

A:Audio Issues With Lenovo Z710 Ideapad

USB headsets have their own built in "sound card" to convert the digital USB audio signal to analog so it can be heard in the headset. With USB, the PC's sound card is not used. With this information take another look at what you have or are doing.

My Lenovo Ideapad Z710 works just fine most of the time, but when I try to play games, first some individual pixels and as time goes on the entire screen starts flickering until it?s almost impossible to play. If I turn off my graphics card, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M , it worked fine again. Now first of all, it would be nice to know whether anyone knows what the cause of this first problem is and how to fix it, as I would like to be able to use my regular graphics card when playing (enables me to play on a higher resolution). Added to that, I?ve now noticed that on other games, there is a flickering, without the pixel flickering first, no matter whether or not I deactivate my graphics card. Anyone have an idea where this problem could stem from?

Hey all, I'm brand new to the forums, but I've used the site countless times to help solve problems I've had with various computers.

I'm usually not one to directly ask for computer help, being the acclaimed "Computer Guy" in my circle of friends and family, it takes a little too long to get an answer if I need to fix something fast, but this case is a little different.

A few weeks ago my friend bought a brand new Lenovo Ideapad Z710 laptop pre-installed with Win8. I "Upgraded" to Win7 for him, as neither of us can stand the new OS. Usually I have no trouble reinstalling drivers after installing a new OS, but for some reason his touchpad driver will NOT install.

I'm using the official driver for his computer, it's apparently a synaptics driver and it says it should work completely fine with Win7, but when I try to run the installation, I get the error "Synaptics Device Not Found!"

There are a few issues that I believe are related to the driver not being installed that may tell you guys something. When he closes his laptop lid and open it again, his mouse jumps over the screen endlessly, and he cannot use the computer until he restarts. Also, he can't turn his touchpad off, which I assume is a function that comes with the driver.

Any help or input is greatly appreciated, if you need any more information please feel free to ask.

Thanks again,
-Tyler

I bought a new Lenovo Ideapad 510s 14" recently. The fan constantly runs, even if the laptop is idle. A quick look at task manger shows that only 2% of the CPU and 31% of the memory is being used. The laptop is not heating up at all, yet the fan is still running. I have scanned for viruses and malware using Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, and got 0 results. I disabled Cortana and the P2P windows update system too. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Accelerates sometimes, as it should. But NEVER stops entirely, not even when ALL programs are closed down.  The pc is almost virgin. I only installed Chrome, and McAfee was already on. NO CPU usage (0-3%). NO disk usage. NO scan running. I updated Windows and the BIOS, and I even chose the Power Saving mode. Still the fan runs constantly - at low speed, but enough to get me irritated. Any help will be much appreciated. Otherwise the pc goes back! \

I have a Lenovo ideapad 305 which I have had for about 18 months. I have constantly had the issue where the laptop will randomly disconnect from WiFi and is then unable to reconnect. I have to turn the laptop off and restart it to reconnect the WiFi and it will then just disconnect again. I have previously sent this to Lenovo to fix but they wiped the whole laptop even when I asked them not to.  I have uninstalled all the network drives for the WiFi and forgot all the WiFi connection and it still happens. Nothing else I use disconnects except this laptop.  Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue? Would advise staying away from Lenovo laptops, it?s been a problem ever since I?ve owned it.

Hi everybody, I bought a new IdeaPad v310-15ikb, I have been using it for one week and I realized that fun is running all the time, although CPU usage is low (~5%) and its temperature is also ok (36C, HWMonitor). The fun speed and noise that it does is not big but still audible, it starts quickly after switching on and never stops entirely. I installed the latest bios update yesterday, nothing changed so far. I would like to know if it is normal and I need to accept it (I don't want to return the laptop, I like it otherwise) or if there is a way how to solve it / control the fan speed. Thank everybody in advance.

I do not have hardly anything loaded onto this laptop, it is less than 30 days old.  All of the sudden in the middle of playing a game the laptop locked up completely.  Now, it is locking up all the time, and when it isn't locking up it is VERY slow compared to when I first got it.   I noticed in task manager the disk use is 100% ALL of the time, not sure if that matters or not for my problem.  It is running at 100% even with no applications open.  I did remove the McAfee software and increased the virtual memory size, but it hasn't changed the constant 100% disk usage.  I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan, only leftover McAfee filed came up and I quaranteened them.  Really clueless as to what could be going on since this laptop is pretty much brand new and there's barely any programs installed combined with the fact NOTHING is running when it seems to slow down and/or lockup.   Thank you.

I have tried Battery Saving and Balanced mode. I have run several diffferent diagnostics through the Lenovo app and made sure my Window was up-to-date. I also used the Lenovo app to try and blow any dust from the vents. The laptop is not over heated or working overly hard. Any ideas on how to make it stop? I purchased my Z710 Laptop 2-3 years ago. Currently I seem to suffer from thermal throttling on both the CPU(i7-4700mq)(85C) and GPU(gt-745m)(75C). I tried cleaning dust from the fan and heatsink but that did not seem to solve the issue. I tried to underclock CPU down to 2.4GHz but still reaches 85C and GPU still throttles as well. So I am thinking of two options:1) Buy a laptop cooling pad and put it under the exposed underside of the laptop and hope that it can cool it down.2)Replace the thermal paste of the CPU and GPU (boy oh boy how sketchy this one is, but exciting at the same time!) and hope for the best? I am looking for your advice on which of these I should choose or if there is anything I am missing? Thank you in advance!

My Lenovo ideapad Z710, after a year of use started telling me the battery was not the correct battery.  I thought the battery might have died.  I eventually bought a replacement battery.  The new battery gets the same message.  My wife has a different model but uses the same battery.  My OEM battery does not function in her machine but the new one does.  So it appears that my machine has a problem recognizing the proper battery.  Once I accept the message, the machine boots and runs fine plugged in.  The battery does not charge so I assume the machine is protecting itself from improper battery.  The new battery is a DR.BATTERY Notebook battery with a two year warranty.  When I was shopping for the battery, there were numerous suppliers and of course they all claimed to have only the highest quality that meets or exceeds the original battery specs. Does anyone know a solution?  Could it be a software problem?  I had assumed it was a hardware problem.  The computer works fine as desktop machine, but with no battery it is pretty worthless as a portable.

I'm trying to Install Debian GNU/Linux on my Windows 8 Ideapad Z710, and I can't even get my laptop to boot from external media. From the InsydeH20 Setup Utility, I've so far disabled Secure Boot, set Boot Mode to UEFI, enabled USB Boot, enabled PXE Boot to LAN, and set my EFI boot order to 1) EFI Network 0 for IPv4, 2) EFI Network 0 for IPv6, then 3) Windows Boot Manager (no other options). I'm not actually trying to boot from a network, I just want to boot from the onboard DVD drive or my USB DVD drive. When I boot with these settings, I get the error: EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (...) boot failed, then a similar one for IPv6, then it boots to Windows. Why can't I boot from DVD or USB? Another thing I've tried is setting Boot Mode to Legacy Support and Boot Priority to Legacy First (with Secure Boot disabled) which results in my laptop booting to straight to Windows even when USB ODD is first in the boot order. Please tell me how to boot to a Linux DVD or USB on this machine! This was major purchase for me, and if I can't install Linux on it, this laptop is totally useless for me. Please respond.

Can this laptop be run from a 24V supply, too?Or is that voltage too high?(Two 12V batteries i series)

A:Power supply for IdeaPad Z710

The battery voltage and power supply voltage have nothing to do with each other. It has integrated voltage regulation modules that convert the voltage to the required voltages to power the device and simultaneously drive the battery. The voltage has to match with what the input is designed for, and that is 20V in the Z710. The amperage can basically be higher than required as the devices request an amperage and use how much they need (for the Z710 type 80AK, there were three power supplies: 20V on each, but with either 3.25, 4.5 or 6.75 Amps for 65, 90 or 130 Watts power output), but a differing voltage (unless your device is made for special fast charging types oder mostly USB Type-C, which most laptops aren't) will most likely fry your motherboard/batteries. By the way, the batteries in your Z710 run at either 14.4 or 14.8 Volts, not 12V.

I can burn jpegs on a CD/DVD, but when I try to reinsert and view, nothing loads.  It's like the device doesn't recognize the file from the CD/DVD.  Any suggestions?

Hi! When I start my laptop, I get this message "EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (54-BE-F7-53-1F-14) boot failed". The laptop is 4 months old. How would I get it to work again? pls!

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Z710 Laptop is not booting to Windows and displaying initial error, I suggest you to access the BIOS menu and change the first boot device to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and check if the issue persists. To access BIOS menu turn OFF the computer and then press the NOVO button which is located beside the power button and select BIOS utility, then under boot menu change the HDD to first boot device under boot order. Now click on F10 to save the changes.

Do post us back if the issue persists

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar
