I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Windows 7 basically blew up and is no longer working. I tried a one-key recovery as well which utterly failed. As a last resort I tried using Windows 7 recovery disks sent by Lenovo. There are 4 disks 1,2,3, and an additional disk. Everything seemed to be going somewhat smoothly, although slow up until disk 3. The screen shows

"Current Item: ApplyOs" "Recover process is running please don't remove your power adapter."

It's been like this for days. The blue bar load bar under it seems to still be running. Tried again, this time with 4 different disks sent by Lenovo. The first 3 disks went a bit faster, but the end result was still the same, getting stuck on "ApplyOs". Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Hello all.  I have a lenovo ideapad z560 with win7 home premium.

Around 1 -2 years back I upgraded it to win 10 home insider preview.

Everything was fine until 5 months before....  it wasn't intercepting internet connection..... after much hassle I called in the technician and the problem solved but not fully..... sometime it would persist then I used internet forums to solve it temporarily.

Last week same internet problem surfaced.....  shoes as connected but no pages loaded in any browser.....

Did a system reset successfully....  then after few minutes it was a blue screen showing that all processes died....

Did a reset again but it said reset failed....

And the system hanged....  I switched it off....  and tried to restart but it shows a black screen after lenovo logo screen.....

Tried hardware unplugging.... draining out power supply.... all f1 -f10 buttons don't work.... no safe mode options available.... one key recovery doesn't work for win 10 .... pressing power button for 30 mins.... etc etc etc....

But the system keeps rebooting every few minutes with blank window after lenovo logo....

Calling technician isn't option cos I can't afford it now....  purchased in Oct 2011....  dunno if it still lies in warranty....

Please help.  Thanks in advance.

I am having issues with onekey recovery because I am trying to factory reset my laptop. I have used it before without issues, but I believe it may have happened after I tried out Windows 10 but then reverted back to Windows 7. If I try to use OneKey recovery through the program, when I select the option to reformat, it just restarts my computer normally. If I try to use the onekey recovery key on the keyboard, it just turns on my computer normally. Any solutions to this issue?

If you mean the factory recovery files try Lenovo for a recovery disc set if available. If you mean for the OS alone just download the MEDIA CREATION TOOL from microsoft which you will use to download the OS installer. As to drivers go to the download site for your unit to download them.

I've had my ideapad (flex 15 20309) for about 2 years and was working fine. Around 5 months ago I noticed my touchscreen wouldn't work any more. Sometimes after a reboot it would seem to come back to life but now I can't figure out what is going on. I seem to have Microsoft Windows 10 home as the operating system. I can't find any setting or keystroke or anything that can get my touchscreen back to life. Help! My touchpad (mousepad) works fine and I'm using a USB mouse as well because I don't like using the mousepad. The only thing I think has changed in the last 5 or 6 months was probably windows 10 and the regular updates that are done via windows 10.

Hello, I can't get the touchpad scrolling to work with Windows. I tried installing/reinstalling and updating the driver but nothing worked. I tried installing Ubuntu on the laptop, and there I got multitouch scrolling even without drivers, so I don't really think the touchpad can't support scrolling.I'm running latest Windows 10 with latest drivers from Lenovo support page. Why is this problem? Is it the Windows or the official drivers for Windows are bugged?(It won't work with 7/8.1 either, tried them all)

Seems like the problem is that Lenovo thought this would be acceptable place to cut costs (not having any touchpad scrolling).  They are very very wrong, this thing is going right back to the store.

Hi iShkilenok ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try to uninstall energy management and the reinstall it back from the support site .
Restart the pc and test.

If same issue , you may have to physically open the cover and inspect the fan if it would be able spin.
While turned of try to test if the fan will smoothly move by pushing it with a small stick.
Check if there are clogged materials preventing it to spin like strands of fibers and dust.
Use a blower as needed .

If you don't have the tools or experience on doing this best that you have a service technician in your location do it for you.  Herewith are the hardware manual for review and guide.

Hi, I recently purchased new Lenovo P50s, and when I was trying to call skype I mentioned that microphone doesn't work. I was reading guidelines on mic problems, but nothing changed. Then I was contacting support, it looks like they tried to reinstall driver but it didn't help. I connected external mic, and its working ok. They offer me to give to service center, but I don't really like this idea, because it will take a lot of time. Computer had Win 8 installed originally, but I didn't try mic on it.  Did somebody met this problem and may have some resolution, maybe I should try to install some of specific driver which must be working on Win 10 or smth else.  Thanks!

I just bought a recovery USB, I want to reset my computer to factory settings and reinstall the operating system. I started up the process and got into the Recovery Manager. It let me start the process for the recovery preparation. It looks like that portion is about to finish, then gives the error "Windows cannot find 'D:\System.sav\Util\Rstone.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." If I click OK to get past the error, it tells me "Recovery preparation is complete" and prompts me to reboot, then sends me through a loop, ending in that error. The packet that came with the USB only says to Contact HP Support at www.hp.com/support in the event of errors...but when I try to contact support it tells me that my laptop is out of warranty. Which I'm sure is true, but I JUST paid over $50 for a USB recovery drive that doesn't seem to work, and I never even got any sort of email confirmation on the purchase. HP has provided no way for me to reach out beyond these forums. Can anyone help? Either with the OS installation or with how to get a refund on a recovery USB that seems to be missing a file?

My computer had a few freezes last week and I had to simply turn it off, which may have scrambled its brains.  It only boots into System Recovery, which doesn't work.
I've tried all the various options, including changing drive letter designations from the command prompt, but nothing helps.
There were two Recovery volumes, one on C:.  I deleted that volume thru DiskPart, and then the oS moved to D:
I can boot from the Windows setup disk, but it only offers a reinstall - not a repair.  I don't really want to do a reinstall because the computer is now 5 years old.
I just ordered a new one, but would like to be able to use this one until the other arrives.
I've backed up my data (before the problem developed).
How can I change the OS drive back to C:?  OR How can I boot to what is now the OS drive, which oddly is D:?
Thank you.

A:OS is now on E: instead of C:; Recovery doesn't work

Do you get the Advanced Boot Options when you tap F8 at boot? If you do then you should be able to select Repair Computer from the options and then do a Startup Repair.

I have a HP Pavillion dv2910us, and I need to perform a system recovery on my laptop. I?ve tried to press F11 when the computer boots up, and nothing happens except it makes a loud beep sound and continues on its way starting up. So when that didn?t work, I came to the HP site to look up another way to possibly perform a system recovery that I didn?t know. I found that I can open the Recovery Manager from my start menu and perform the operation from there. I tried about 15 times, following the exact steps that were given to me, and even another way I found in the forum. All that happens is my computer restarts and I log in to my account and it?s the same as it was before. I really need to perform this system recovery. I?ve already moved the files I need to save to an external hard drive, and I just really need to fix this problem. What am I doing wrong, or how can I restore my laptop to factory settings in another way? Additional info: My product number is FE989UA#ABA and serial is 2CE8200Y5Q.Message Edited by racket on 07-24-2009 10:36 PM

My final solution will be just ordering a set of recovery disks from hp, but I'll try other way out before I pay for it. Good luck with yours. Try this>>1.Right-click on "Computer" icon and select manage. 2.This will launch the Microsoft Management Console. 3.On the left side of the MMC, click on "Disk Management" and it will show you all of the partitions. 4.Right-click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Active Partition." 5.When the warning prompt appears, select "Yes" - Reboot the notebook and it will automatically boot into the Recovery Manager without having to press F11.

Run Startup Repair 3 times, rebooting between each try.

What did you try with the recovery DVD? Did you start to reinstall Windows? If so, you may have deleted the data that was on the computer.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

From the manual (note that you will obviously need to do the 2nd option via the F11 method):

Once you have recovered your system to its factory condition, I recommend that you carry out the instructions here and create recovery disks.

It's hard to explain, but here's what happened. I thought I was having audio problems, so I did a system recovery (on a Samsung R480 only a month old). Since I did the system recovery, everything is messed up. I will open Yahoo Messenger and I have pictures but no words. I cannot log into my gmail because I have boxes but now words. If I try to open a Microsoft Word document the computer does a dump and restarts. It's just totally messed up now. For some reasons I have no restore points at all, and I thought restore was automatically on. The Samsung guy said I could still make a backup and use it. I wasn't sure how that was going to work, because I'd be backing up the crap system, not the good system, but he's the 'expert' so I did what he said. And sure enough, all I did was make a backup of the bad system. Is there anything I can do to restore my computer to factory condition since I have no restore points and System Recovery 4 is what put it in this funky state in the first place....and obviously I have no operating disks like everyone used to get with all computers. Thank you in advance for your help.

The 11a/b/g/n wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter isn't recognized by vista. My friend said it might be a problem because it doesn't work with 64 bit software. Went through the long process of installing vista 32 bit version. Same thing. It was recognized by vista.

So now here I am with 64 bit vista installed again. I downloaded a couple drivers that it could be from lenovo website. It still didn't work.

Before I started this whole project I went to the microsoft upgrade site to check compatability. While running XP, the site said that I would have to download the wireless lan driver and install it after i installed vista. It also said the fingerprint reader would need to be manually installed but I don't care about that.

Any suggestions?

Hi all

I wanted to recover my original Windows that i created 2 DVDs when i first bought the laptop.
the first DVD worked OK and erased everything, then it won't read my second DVD although it appears fine to me and can be read on other devices.

is there any way i can recover my original windows?

i tried pressing 0 when starting up but no use.

thanks a lot

A:Toshiba Recovery - 2nd disk doesn't work

Hi

This is very bad situation now. All you can do is to try again. Make second DVD clean and try it again.
I really hope this will work somehow. If not, you have a big problem.

Before recovery image installation starts whole HDD will be formatted so there is no chance to start HDD recovery installation from the HDD (using 0 at start-up).

Unfortunately I also deleted the recovery partition. I am on a Vizio CT14-A4, which had Windows 8 preinstalled. I've upgraded to 8.1. I can boot from the drive but it does no see any recovery information on their. The space the files take up on the drive is 6gb, so something is on there. Could it just be an error in a file?

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.

New Yoga 700-141SK: Ran the Lenovo Support Center Hardware Scan and the Video Card Mathematical Operations Test has failed rendering the Report: WVC007002-UL7BPL. Is there a tried and proven solution out there? I have had a look at the solutions on the forum and am not satisfied that the solutions offered prove that the problem has been resolved. It is reasonable to expect Lenovo to make available a solution as a matter of course instead of end-users of "afflicted" Lenovo devices having to request/search for a solution(s).

Hi, after a short period of inactivity, my laptop has become seemingly unable to boot Windows 10 properly.

Upon turning the computer on, I will either see a black screen, or reach the login screen that will attempt to login for minutes at a time before failing.

Having attempted to use a USB recovery drive to fix the problem, neither the 'Reset This PC', 'System Restore', 'Startup Repair', or 'Go Back to the Previous Build' options work, failing in a variety of ways. I do not have a system image to recover from.

There are non-backed up files I can't lose on the computer, so a factory reset is absolutely the last option for me. Any advice on how to fix the problem would be hugely appreciated.

Ok so I have seen this bootmgr problem posted all over the Internet, but there are very few solutions and most of the solutions will not work for me, so any help would be amazing. My system is an HP Pavilion Notebook dv6500t.

Intel Core2 Duo processor T7300 (2.00 GHz & 4 MB L2 Cache)
2GB DDR2 (2 Dimm)
383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M
160GB 5400RPM Hard Drive

from what I can tell it has a small 2gb recovery hard drive to run vista's recovery manager off of instead of using a restore disc. HP sent me no Vista discs or system restore discs.

So the problem is when I start up my computer I get a black screen and a message saying:

"bootmgr is missing press ctrl + alt + delete to restart"

When I restart I get the same message. I tried opening up the system restore menu that is built in, and starting a full restore to its original factory condition but as soon as it starts reformatting the hard drive I get a message that says:

"Error 0x4001001300001002. If this issue continues, please contact HP support."

And of course I contacted HP support which was a waste of about 3 hours of my life and nothing got resolved. I have done numerous hard disc diagnostics tests and they all come up clear. I have also tried using the command prompt to copy the bootmgr file and folder to my other drives but had no success.

So If anyone can help me I have only had my laptop for 2 weeks and am desperate for some answers. Anything would be much appreciated.

Hello everyone! Thanks for taking the time to read this post!
I have an Acer Predator G3100
Computer Specs:1 TB hard drive
8 GB DDR3 memory
AMD Phenom X4 850 quad-core processor
DVD-Super Multi drive
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550ti (Recently replaced with an ASUS GTX 660 ti)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
LITEON PS-6451-5 450(?) Watt Power supply
ADATA XPG SX900 128GB SSD (Added by myself)
Now, I also have a picture of the motherboard. I'm not sure of the brand.

(The SSD was only not secured because of testing reasons when trying to figure out the problem)

So my problem began with me going away from home and putting the computer on restart before I left (I use splashtop to access my computer when I'm not home). During the following evening and night there was a lightning storm in town. I got home the next day with the computer being off. I tried to turn it on by pressing the power button and there was no reaction, I checked the power and unplugged the computer and plugged it back in again. I tried again and It powered up. Everything was loading fine until it started to load the OS (Windows 7 Home Premium) at that point the screen froze and the longer I waited the faster the CPU and Case Fan ran until it was what I assume at 100%. I turned the computer off, and restarted it into BIOS. CPU was stable at just about 50 Degrees Celsius. I left it to cool off for a bit and restarted it.

It froze again when loading Windows. I made a Windows recovery disc from my Laptop (Windows ... Read more

A:Windows won't start, recovery disc doesn't work...

I've seen this happen a few times with jumps in current (which may have came from your lightning storm). It's not the SSD/HDD, and in my case, it was the southbridge controller failed, which houses the SATA ports. Specifically, voltage regulators were overheating, and after 15-30 seconds of attempted use on the SATA ports, it would halt it's process.

Possibly the most irritating part of the whole thing was that I could idle a system or RAM process (BIOS/memtest/etc...) with no problem. It was once I tried to use any mass storage controller that I had no luck.

I've heard of ways around this, like rigging a case fan to hang perfectly over the regulators and run at full speed to keep them cooled, but that was ridiculous for me, I just replaced the board.

For fun, have you tried swapping your SSD with a spare drive (if you have one) and loading a clean install of Windows to rule out what I'm referring to? If you can get up and running with a test installation, it will help determine where the issue lies.
