after Windows 10 anniversary update, Inspiron 5459 freezes if wifi is turned off or wifi access point is changed, is there a solution to this problem?

Q: after Windows 10 anniversary update, Inspiron 5459 freezes if wifi is turned off or wifi access point is changed, is there a solution to this problem?

I recently updated my Inspiron 14" 5459 to the Windows 10 anniversary update, i noticed that when my wifi access point changes or wifi signal drops or turning off wifi, my laptop semi-freezes, you could still scroll with the mouse or track pad and select open tabs but that's all, clicking other icons and even the windows start menu does not work, if you wait for more than 5 minutes, everything goes back to normal. Waiting around for about 5 minutes is annoying so what I do is press ctrl alt delete and from there restart the laptop. my wifi adapter is updated to the most recent version and also both graphics card (intel hd 520 and amd radeon m335) is also updated to the latest version. Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

Preferred Solution: after Windows 10 anniversary update, Inspiron 5459 freezes if wifi is turned off or wifi access point is changed, is there a solution to this problem?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Please confirm the wireless card from the device manger or the network control panel. Also please update the BIOS firmware to the latest version. The BIOS update should ideally be version v1.2.2. Also please try system out with a LAN cable as well to confirm if is indeed caused by the wireless. Though this may not run a complete diagnostics on the network you can run a hardware diagnostics on the computer using the following steps

Shutdown the computer
Hold the 'Fn' key and turn on the computer
Let go of the 'Fn' key after 2 seconds

This is will initiate the H/w diagnostics. Please let us know if it completes or if you run into any errors. If you do run into any errors.

Microsoft force-upgraded my machine to the Windows 10, version 1703 (Creator) upgrade.
After this upgrade my WiFi stopped working. Is Dell working on a new driver?
I installed the latest driver Qualcomm-QCA9565-WiFi-Bluetooth-Driver_Y8HRF_WIN_10.0.0.352_A08_01.EXE but it is still not working properly. It only works every other boot up and fails in the middle of sessions.
Is there a plan to fix this driver? Or are we on our own?

Hi all,
Pulling my hair out at the Inspiron 11 machine type 3137.  We've had it for about two years and it has never connected to our home router at a range greater than about ten feet from the access point.
The problem started when we first took it out of the box, then running Windows 8, later 8.1, now Windows 10.  All the OS upgrades have neither made the problem better nor worse.
Router is a Linksys E2500, in other words, name-brand stuff.  4 other machines in the house work all over the house and can connect to the router from anywhere in the house.
The driver is the latest version, and we have ruled out problems with firewall settings.  We can ping any network service, but no luck on HTTP, POP3/SMTP, etc. protocols.
For the past two years my wife has solved the problem by sitting within 10 feet from the access point, but that's not what we paid for and not what we expect from Dell.  Any ideas?  Anyone had a similar issue?

I was at a home today and connected to their private home network on a Surface Pro 4. This showed their network as Connected. However, the internet kept going to a local open BT network instead! I couldn't select this open network anywhere to exclude it. Thinking about it now, I should have disabled/reenabled Wifi first, and then tried a reboot after that. But otherwise, is there any hidden setting to ignore certain networks?

A:Using 'open' access Wifi point instead of connected private wifi.

Hello and welcome to the TenForums

If the home where you were had a BT hub then it most probably was offering both an open connection also known as BT Wifi or BT Fon and also a secured wifi connection which would have an SSID number with a BThub name with some random numbers and letters. It is possible that you connected to the open one and were then automatically directed to a BT broadband page on the internet to pay for use of the BT hotspot service that they provide via customers routers. See this article for more info: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/d...fi-with-fon%3F

After the Windows 10 Anniversary Upgrade I can't connect to any WiFi. Since then I tried uninstalling Windows WiFi Direct Virtual Adapter because I read that after doing that scanning for hardware changes would add it back, and it did, but after repeating this step again it shows up as disconnected. Now the settings menu WiFi section doesn't even show up. I don't know what to do.

Hello Everyone.

I am new here and have never really posted on a help forum before. But I am having crippling connection issues and have not found any threads that really represent my specific problem.

I have an ASUS laptop and have been running windows 10 pretty much since it was available without any sort of network problems. However since the large anniversary update my wifi connectivity seems to be somehow weakened. My typical networks I use at home and at work seem to be fine. It's now when trying to connect to hotel, airport, or coffee shop networks that seem to give me trouble. I travel a lot and this is a big deal for me.

For example at the hotel I am currently staying at my iPhone (which I am posting this with) and Samsung tablet are able to detect the hotel wifi and connect without any problems. But my laptop at times cannot even find the network. If I walk around the room with the laptop sometimes I can pick it up briefly I can connect momentarily, only to be dropped immediately when trying to access a website. While my iPhone shows full bars the laptop will only ever show one or two. Indicating that it is somehow weakened.

I have checked an have all the latest drivers. My settings are set to obtainable ip automatically and so forth.

I am not sure if it's related but when I connect and open the network tray icon it shows one bar but the tray icon itself always shows full bars. Very weird.

I have gone through this at every hotel I have stayed... Read more

Hi, I think this is the 4th USB Wifi adapter that i have tried to use with windows 10 after the anniversary update to create a hotspot/adhoc

Mainly using the program connectify

Befor doing this update my USD wifi was fine i was forced to update windows for the new game forza that came out not to long ago it wouldn't allow me to download or install the game without this actual update on pc..
sadly it has broken my wifi adaptors the drivers and software no longer work correctly..

Please direct your attention to screen shot 1

on the left side the device comes up as a lan card in the middle of the screen shot you will see it showing up top

But the Microsoft hosted network adaptor isnt enable or showing up correctly I need this to be able to make and start the hotspot/adhoc

it doesn't think its a wifi adaptor anymore

on the right side you can see there no sharing options etc on the wi fi properties basically useless

Now i will plug in a little tp link usb adaptor (10$ one) that can't reach where i need it to.. i'll leave the net gear plugged in as well

Now can we go to screen shot 2 please

You will see on the left side now the Microsoft wi-fi adaptor has enabled it self..

Now on the netgear wifi properties it now has its sharing options back

But when i try to make a adhoc using connectify or the windows command prompt way they use the little tp link wifi adaptor and not the net gear one..
is there a way when creating a adhoc to some how tell it to u... Read more

I happened to be using another PC today and went to connect to wifi. I noticed there was an access point that was DIRECT-XXname of my computer-XXX. where the Xs were some capital letters.

I didn't set this up and I've hunted on the internet for it. It does not appear to be the standard Windows set up an access point because a) it isn't turned on and b) if it was, the wifi name would be different.

The only thing I "might" have done today to do this was share a printer over bluetooth or wifi. I didn't mean to do this and I deleted it. Could that be it? That said, it appeared in the wifi list again briefly but that could have been a refresh issue.

I've never seen this before today and I have not noticed it when I've been connecting devices to our wifi.

As I've spent about 40 mins unsuccessfully trying to look this up, so any info, help or advice would be great.

Also, I have run a full virus scan and it's clean. Plus I have found the wifi name in the registry under profiles and unmanaged. But no other links.

A:Strange wifi access point in Windows 10

If you turn your printer off does the wireless network disappear? Sounds like direct print option that many printers have. If so then you can disable it from the printer menus or printer's web interface.

I'm not sure whether this is a hardware issue, driver issue, or possibly a windows 10's bug causes conflict with 1820A
I got this laptop exaclt a month ago, it is windows 10 preinstalled
Everthing works fine, except my wifi is giving me some trouble
Whenever there comes a windows update that requires reboot, wifi got disabled as if the wireless card is not detected from PC
It would just show a red X mark on the wifi icon
and if I click on it, there's no enable / disable option; same happens in the settings, wifi submenu is nowhere to be found
Then I head into device manager, and believe it or not there is no wireless adapter at all
At first I thought the wireless card is dead, but after some long research on the web it seems more likely to be just driver-related issue. Turns out that I would have to delete the driver (unhide devices appears wireless adapter), restart the PC, and reinstall driver manually from device manager
Wifi is temporarily functional again using this workaround, but it is also getting very frustrating that I have to repeat all these steps once in a while and I can't enjoy using it like a normal laptop.
This doesn't occur on any of my previous laptop which have windows 10 too, so I'm really suspecting it must either be broadcom not providing a proper driver, or dell using faulty hardware.
If anyone here has the same issue / knows a permanent solution, pl... Read more

I noticed recently my taskbar, sound, and notifications not working after a while using Win 10 Anniversary Update. I installed latest drivers and also the latest Bios update but hasn't helped. I even created a Windows 10 media creation USB tool and did a fresh install. I also went to Dell site and created their Windows 10 install tool and performed the same clean install. Got the same issues with freezing. I'm glad I kept my desktop PC running Windows 7 or I would be rather mad right now. How in the world can one update mess up so much? This seems to be a major issue with PC's that received the Anniversary Update.

Let me start off by saying I'm not very tech-savvy but I have searched for solutions to this problem for weeks and tried many things but to no avail. So I am really hoping I can get some help here.

Dell Inspiron 15 3541 laptop
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Processor: AMD A6-6310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 Graphics, AMD64 Family 22 Model 48 Stepping 1
8 GB of RAM

I have had this laptop for almost two years and have had no problems until the recent Anniversary update. Ever since then, the computer will sometimes totally freeze. When this happens, I press the caps lock button on my keyboard and its light won't even come on. This total freeze sometimes lasts for 30 seconds, sometimes for 10 minutes, and sometimes doesn't unfreeze even after 30 minutes of waiting. If/when it does finally unfreeze, my caps lock light will suddenly turn on and everything on the screen will slowly but surely become usable again.

Sometimes the freezes seem random, but other times it seems to correspond with something I'm doing. For example, multiple times the computer has started to seem a little sluggish so I will go to open task manager, and the act of opening task manager will cause the freeze.

My other big problem is that my wifi connection will drop out intermittently. All of a sudden, my Skype call will drop and I will not be able to load any webpages. This usually lasts between 10-30 seconds. Then everything will be fine again. This sometimes happens 5 times within a 10 min... Read more

My system runs Windows 7 Home version, 64-bit Service Pack 1 and has applied all updates.  I use Outlook extensively and run the iCloud for PC add-on for syncing with my iPhone and iPad.  Just after finishing some updates to my task list in Outlook, and while Outlook was syncing with iCloud, we had a power failure in our house and the wifi router immediately shut down. When I say "froze", I mean just that.  The laptop simply stopped; can't move the cursor; can't Escape; and the hard drive is totally stopped - no lights indicating motion.  Shortly thereafter, the laptop's internal fan starts to run at full speed and that's the state it stays in until rebooting  I tried to run the computer in Safe Mode (using Network Connections) and the PC froze again.  I rebooted again, using Safe Mode without Network Connections and the system came back up.  From there, I conducted a restart to Windows running normally and the computer froze again.  I deduced the problem was wifi, so I using the external wifi switch, I turned wifi off.  After turning off wifi, I am able to bring the PC back in both Safe Mode and running Windows normally, however, anytime I engage the wifi switch, the same thing happens.  I have since updated all wifi drivers, and device manager indicated they are all operating normally.  I tried restoring ... A few days ago, my laptop was working perfectly fine. But then, I turned my computer off, the next day, everything started up as normal, with Windows 7 Home Premium still in the backgrounds when I am logging in but then, the network connecter won't automatically start. So I was left without internet for a bit. Whats more, I noticed that the taskbar, which was always semi-transparent before, is now white. As well as all the title bars of the programs that I open, turned into blue!

I first tried to look up how to solve my wifi problem. I manually opened the network connecter in the control panel, and tried to "Connect to a network". But it didn't detect any wifi servers! Which is odd since I had always used the one my family used, and I am using wifi on that server at this moment!

When I tried to use troubleshoot on my "internet connections", it first showed me that the issue was "The Diagnostic Policy Service is not running" but then every other time I tried to troubleshoot again, it doesn't show any problems detected

And with the problem of the taskbar, I tried to search solution... Read more

Ok, first off I would just like to say that this is my first thread post on this forum so sorry if I have done something wrong or am missing vital information. My problem is that I am trying to connect to my college campus's wireless internet. I will give more specific details in a bit. Basically, I was watching YouTube before going to class and shut down my PC before I left. I was connected to the internet then and it was working fine. When I got back is when I started getting problems. I booted up my computer as I usually do but instead of automatically connecting to my school's network, it didn't connect at all. When I go down to the wifi signal on the bottom right and choose the network and hit connect, it fails. This is what it reads: "Windows was unable to connect to (network name.)" I have tried going to Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections and disabling and enabling everything and that did not work. I should also tell you that all the devices in this window have a red "X" next to them. I also tried all of Windows "troubleshooting problems." What I don't get is that my phone connects just fine, as well as everyone else on campus. I'm getting a bit frustrated because I am quite knowledgeable when it comes to computers and this sort of thing. I even custom built my own desktop at home. Here are the specs of the laptop I am having trouble with:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
CPU: Intel Core i7-4810M... Read more

So, I live in my parents' basement, and I'm positioned at the very front of the house down here. The router (a Linksys WRT54GL, stock firmware) is down here with me right on my desk along with the cable modem and moving them is not an option. I need the simplest solution possible, perhaps something I can put upstairs on the main floor.

My parents have a gazebo out in the back as shown below and they like to take their laptop out there and even though it functions, they say that the signal is just barely strong enough and so it reduces the performance noticeably as compared to being in the house (roughly where that chimney is, but on the main floor). I can see that because I'm literally at the front of the house in the basement (as close to the front as you can get, right about in the center and I'm facing West and so the router is right up against the wall). So, the router is as far away from the gazebo as is possible, outside of putting it in the front yard or something.

So as you can see, it's not exactly close! So do they need a WiFi extender, an access point, or should I get a better router? What's the best option without costing too much money?

Additionally, I don't know what's good or bad on the market, and so I need your help with that as well. I'd like to get them the best unit possible whatever that may be (extender, access point, or router) so that it does an excellent job and can keep working for as many years to come as possibl... hi ya

I have a cheapo ADSL wireliess router (54mbps) in the front of my shop and I want to increase the wireless signal I recieve in the office in the back of the shop. The signal is strong but the connection speed drops as low as 20mbps, also I have a desktop with no wifi card in the same room which I need to connect to the network.
My aim is to get the very best connection speeds between the two rooms without cables. I was thinking that if I got a draft N router and access point then the shop front and office would have a very strong connection allowing me to connect multiple machines via ethernet cables in each room and at the same time increasing my wifi signal in the office. This way I wouldnt need to buy another wifi card and would get better signal for my laptop

I dont know if I am completly off track and would better off getting a good router a range booster and installing wifi cards when needed.

if anyone could give me some help with this and also what routers/access points you would reccomend would be great

many thanks

A:Increasing wifi signal using access point

N will give 300mbp (realtime is 240 to 270mbps) of data in / data out
Range is greater than G but just to let you know your range my vary due to interference in your shop.
2.4GHz cordless phones
Some lighting systems
Microwave devices
But the Draft-N clears up some but not much again depends on what's you have in the shop. Place the wireless router higher away from other electronic devices. Wireless access point can be use but if you want to go without wires then you need one that can do WDS. That WDS taps into the wireless signal that you presently is transmitting in your store.

Another issues you have one of those all-in-one modems that have wireless router feature. They tend to be slower than just using ADSL modem and a wireless router combination. Cable Modem from the Cable company is much faster, but you'll have to be able to get cable business customer plan. But in any case what you have reported is normal 54mbps can range from 24, 48, 54mbps. So for you N would do a better jobs.

DIR-655 ($89 to $129) Xtreme N Wireless Router
DAP-1522 ($99 and up) wireless access point Xtreme N Duo 2.4GHz/5.0GHz wireless
DAP-1555 (new) more for high def media

I think I know what I want, but I just wanted to check before I splashed the cash and made the wrong choice!

I have a Humax Freesat recorder and a Panasonic Blu-Ray player. Both of which have services that need internet access, but neither are WIFI enabled & are the wrong side of the room to be connected via cabled ethernet.

I believe that what I need is to wireless access point? I'd like one with a built in switch as well, as most seem to only come with only one port. The one I found has four, which would be useful as I could replace the poor wireless Xbox 360 dongle.

The one I was looking at was http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004JV42A0/sr=1-1/qid=1325091993/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1325091993&sr=1-1&seller=. This seems very cheap.

Can anyone tell me if this will do what I want & whether there is anything better without spending a fortune?

Many thanks in advance

Hello, I have a HP Pavillion x360 i3 2 in 1 laptop. I am having problems with the wifi staying connected, and when the laptop is connected to wifi the internet speeds are slow. The speeds are slow as in I cannot stream videos on youtube without constant pausing, and even downloading something as simple as google chrome takes much longer than it is supposed to. In my house there are plenty of other devices that are connected including my old laptop, which, has no problems downloading/streaming and iphones, and an ipad. All of the other devices except my new HP laptop has no problem streaming and downloading. The laptop is extremely new;less than a week old. I have tried updating the network driver, resetting the network driver, and disconnecting then reconnecting the wifi; yet the problem keeps occuring. I do have MacAfee so I guess that could pose a problem, but I am unsure. The adapter I use is a Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565, with internet provided by COMCAST. It could be an adapter problem, but because of the other devices working fine I do not think that the problem is from the adapter. Also, the OS is Windows 8.1

I have recently established a WiFi connection for her to use on her phone. It worked great the first day. It continues to work perfect on her mobile. On my net book, though, i can not see WiFi access point in her house.

It appears randomly for several minutes, i try to connect, it does not want to and then the access point disappears for some uncertain period of time. From time to time it appears and works fine from than on but disappears again if computer goes to sleeping mode...

Do you have any ideas what could it be?

I would like to know the step by step to :

1) set up a repeater using an another router.

2) set up an alternate access point (with out Ethernet connection to it if possible using the routerlogin.net)

What are the major advantages and disadvantages of both.

My router is a Netgear N750 Dual Band Gigabit Router and the router I would like to use to boost the signal is the same model.

The problem is that the signal is not strong enough sometimes to use my Galaxy S4 on the other side of the house away from the router. And sometimes the signal does loose strength to my desktop using an internal wireless adapter for WiFi .

The desktop is not so much the issue but the phone is.

So, I thought I would try to increase the range of the router to cover the areas of the house that are receiving a week signal from the router.

I have got this new Lenovo Flex 2 Pro-15 computer a month ago, but I have never got internet on it in my room. My room is 7-8 meters from the access point, and the signal is very weak or not existing. My Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini have a strong signal, if it lays just next to the computer. The computer has fine signal, if it is only 3-4 meters from the access point.

I sent the computer for a repair, and they changed the WLan card, but it did not help. What to do? I think I have installed the correct driver.

A:WiFi does not work 7-8 meters from access point

What wireless adapter does it have? What make/model access point? What band are you connecting with, 2.4 or 5 GHz?

Hello, and thanks very much in advance for any help you can offer. I am having wifi issues with a Netgear access point. I replaced the old access point thinking the hardware was the issue, problem has persisted. All devices (six Samsung android tablets and an iPhone) drop the wifi network, rebooting access point allows all devices to connect again. This has to be something simple but the solution is evading me. I'm using a Netgear WNDAP350, same exact model as the old unit. The access point has a static IP (.239) which is well above the DHCP pool which I believe ends at .51 (we are the US branch of a German company and our network admin is based in Germany).

Having the same symptoms with two identical access points in a row makes me think this is a network issue of some kind. The new access point is in a new location in the building, so new wall jack which the runs to a new port in the switch etc. (so the entire path back to the gateway router is different than it was for the old access point), and I used a brand new patch cable to connect it to the wall. It's crapped out on me at least three times today throughout the day. I reboot it and it works fine again. When the tablets we are using all drop the network at once they all keep trying to reconnect and they all fail to obtain an IP address. I have three diagnostic apps installed in one of the tablets now (WiFi Fixer, Net Analyzer and PingTools), so I can provide additional info as needed. Everything is currently... Read more

Would it be possible for you to obtain a network map with all of your infrastructure? That would be very useful in assisting you.

What is the distance between this access point and the C.O. / Server closet? Does this happen on all of your access points or just this one? Have you attempted to use another access point's Ethernet-run on this access point?

I am having problems accessing the internet via a pay for service wifi connection (One Zone). I am located in an area with multiple encripted and unencripted networks. I can get to one free network, but cannot use my cellphone from there. I was able to log onto, sign up, and use the pay for service once. The next time after rebooting I could not. I called technical support for One Zone and was told to remove Internet Explorer from the list of applicaitons in my Mcafee firewall. This worked once, but then failed the next time I rebooted, and has not worked when I tried it again.

Next I tried the suggestion to use the commands:
For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

This worked once, and then not again.

I uninstalled the Mcafee firewall - but this did not help.

Finally, I updated the driver for the WIFI card, and for the ThinkVantage software used to access the network on the IBM Thinkpad T60.

Throughout this exercise I was able to acceess the free WIFI access point dLink.

When I try to access OneZone I am told that the signal strength is excellent and that I am connected. I am assigned an IP address. I can ping the IP address, but not the associated gateway address. When I look at the status I see IP addresses, indications that I am connected, a lot of packets going out, and no packets going in.

I've had spotty luck connecting to my iPhone via Wifi to gain internet access over LTE. In the midst of troulbeshooting, I once hit 'forget' this network instead of disconnect, and had to go through all sorts of hoops and a registry hack to get it to appear back in the list of available networks.  Still it's not very predictable.  I turn on my LTE Personal Hotspot on my iPhone and then go hunting for it on my Thinkpad 370, and the solution doesn't ever seem to be the same thing twice: 1) Turn Wi-Fi on/off2) Show available networks from setttings (many times)3) Reboot4) Change power settings on Wi-Fi Adapter5) Fiddle in control panel6) Show available networks again and again, sometimes this causes the iPhone to show up at the top of the list of hot spots nearby.7) Go to network status, sometimes the iPhone just shows up under status and connects. It's really just unpredictable I'm afraid.  I don't have it paired as a bluetooth device, so there's not that complication I'm afraid. Has anyone seen this odd behavior and is there a known good process to make it work correctly?  Similar to my post on my bluetooth headphones in the same forum, I'm really just looking for a consistent experience. Thanks in advance for any sage advice.

A:WiFi Access Point on iPhone via LTE, once forgotten, now flaky to connect

I'll start with stating that I don't think this has anything to do with your issue, so FWIW:
I had strange wifi problems with my pre-production 370 with some access points.  I don't recall seeing exactly what you describe, but certainly had inconsistent behavior.
The "fix" in my case was fiddling with the channel width settings for the card via device manager.  I've since swapped in an Intel 8260NGW and haven't seen the same behavior.  There have also been a ton of updates since then too so it's possible that whatever was going on would have been resolved by now anyway.

I'm confused. Here's the scenario. It's small office with a wireless network. They just installed a computer downstairs with one of those giant printer, scanner copier things.

I want to connect the printer to the existing network. The computer has a wireless card but the printer doesn't have wireless capabilities and needs to be plugged in via an ethernet cable. They want to be able to print to that printer from upstairs.

Should I get a wireless router and plug the printer into that or should I get an access point? Can you plug the printer into the access point? OR, should I get a wireless print server and plug the printer into one of the ethernet ports?

Hi, first post but very much need help. I saw similar threads to what my problem is but not exactly the same.

Basically I got a new wireless adapter last weekend. It was working fine, but then an automatic windows update occurred and I could not connect to the Internet anymore. It just says "limited access". I system restored to before the update and it went back to working fine. But now I can't restore to that previous point anymore so Internet is completely gone. I've not been able to get a cable to connect yet but I'm fairly sure that will work. However I would obviously prefer wireless to work.

I'm positive it has to do with this update but have no idea what and how to solve it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Lenovo G50-45 laptop running Windows 10, completely up to date including the Anniversary Update. Since that update, my laptop is having issues staying connected to my home Wi-fi network. I have tried unplugging and the plugging back in the router (multiple times and lengths of disconnection time), and this does not fix the issue. My laptop stays connected to the Wi-fi for anytime between 10 min to 12-13 hrs (after being turned on), before losing connection. The network then shows up in Windows 10 as "secured", but it cannot connect. Often, restarting my computer can fix the issue, however, a few times I have been unable to connect at all for a couple hours. My laptop does not have any problems connecting to several other networks. However, on the Wi-fi where the connection problems happen, there are at least 2 other laptops and mobile devices that have absolutely no issues with the Wi-fi, leading me to believe that the issue is with my laptop. I have made sure the network adapter driver is up to date (downloading the latest one from the Lenovo website, not just asking Windows if it is up to date), and also used all options of Windows network troubleshooting. Any ideas? I've also used the Windows 10 reset option (minus personal files), and after the reset, the problem persists. Generating the WLAN report in the cmd prompt reveals that the sudden disconnects are caused by following threee reasons:"The driver disconnected while associating" (count:148)"The net... Ok, on one PC, connected by ethernet wire to router, upgraded to 1607 with seeminly no problems. On my other PC, connected by wifi usb dongle (Netgear), I upgraded to 1607 but was left with no wifi internet. Wifi was fine throughout the upgrade, but disappeared completely when booting up initially with 1607. Tried new usb dongle (Linksys), with no success. On both, did not automatically find windows drivers. With mfg DVD's, for both installs it stalled 1/2 way through leaving message that it was still installing. Never finished. Using device manager tried uninstalling and then restoring both of these, but they also came back with an error message saying it didn't work. Finally, went back to 1511 and immediately when booting up with this, my wifi came back with Windows recognizing the Netgear usb.

Now, on my first PC that I thought was ok, it is for everything connected via ethernet wire, including my router, however the wifi Roku devices that displayed under my Network on 1511, now do not. Additionally, my Roku Media Player that previously found and displayed media from both my PC and NAS drives, no longer can find them.

Have tried all kinds of Google searches, and can find nothing for this specific problem, or how to fix it. Now to play my media on Roku, I have to copy it to a USB thumb drive and plug it directly into the Roku device. What a pain!

Similarly to I'm having issues when WiFi is on, a few key differences though

I'm using BIOS 1.4.13
USB C is unstable
USB type A on the right hand side (the one with powershare) is unstable in USB 3 mode
Both USB type A ports are stable in USB 2 mode
the left hand side USB type A port is absolutely fine even in USB3 mode
It's particularly unstable if the wifi is in Access Point (hotspot) mode, even if I set the tx power very low (like 10dBm)

By "unstable" I mean that the USB 3 Realtek GbE found on the DA200 is going up and down all the time, same for the "plugable" USB3 GbE (ASIX AX88179).
Is there any solution to this problem?

My home computer will connect fine to the internet, as will my iPhone and my family's androids. And just yesterday, my laptop was working fine when I wanted to use the internet. Last night, I was on YouTube, when my internet just started failing. So I opened Steam, then Skype. Neither worked. So I just shut it off for the night hoping it'd fix itself. It hasn't. I tried one suggestion of changing my router time, that didn't help. I also tried simply restarting my router. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
