I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi there, Mons -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

To fix the flickering problem, you should first check the laptop cables for loose connections. So engineer have already diagnosed and confirmed, it was not the lcd cable which is faulty.

Another possible reason for the flickering problem in computer screens is interference of magnetic fields from other gadgets. Yes, check if near your laptop, you haven't placed speakers, fluorescent lights, cell phones, radios and any other electrical device. If it is so, you must remove any such interfering electrical gadgets away from your laptop. Studies have proved that cell phones do cause screen flickering.

Try and identify when you face this issue, when on Battery power, mains AC adapter or in both scenarios? Is it for a particular power plan or for all power plans? Also check if this happen when you enter BIOS and in Safe Mode too.

Please follow the below steps:

If updating video drivers does not help, uninstall and reinstall the Video drivers.
Open Control Panel\All Control Panel It ems\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings and restore the default power plan settings by clicking on Restore default settings for this plan. Do this for all your Power Plans.
Change the refresh rate and see if that helps.

Update us how it goes.

This is my third time making this thread with no working solution being posted.I purchased a Lenovo Y70 Touch Laptop several months ago. Since a few weeks after its initial use, it has had constant horizontal white lines flickering across the screen at random intervals. I updated the BIOS and it fixed it temporarily. The issue came back once more.I am running Windows 10. I have updated my NVidia and Intel drivers. The BIOS is up to date. I have tried to change the power settings with no luck (the recommended options are not present). Many others seem to have this issue and also have not been helped. I really don't like causing a fuss, but these computers aren't cheap and the lack of help has been very alarming.

This has been an extremely aggrivating issue for a while. After updating the BIOS the other week, the issue stopped completely; however, the second the newest NVidia (364.47) driver finished installation, the screen flickering immediately started again. Any help on fixing this issue, that does not require dismantling my computer, would be appreciated. Thanks!

My laptop is pushing 5 years old and now out of both the main and extended warranty periods but a problem had arisen.  I have begun to notice that the screen flickers for a split second (blacks out). At first it might happen every few minutes but the timing seems to be increasing and now does it a few times per minute. The flicker is brief, like a fraction of a second but I am wondering what is causing it and why it seems to be getting more frequent. I wonder if it could be the video card?  I have not noticed any difference if I wiggle the screen back and forth, I know sometimes the wired connection in the hinge on some laptops can show damage after a lot of use. Wiggling it or moving the position of the screen does not coincide with the flicker, it is just random. I thought  would post the question here before seeking a repair facility to analyze the problem.  I believe I read that the video card is not replaceable so would they replace the entire mother board? Is it too costly to consider?  Any suggestions appreciated.

I am suspicious that the screen is somehow damaged and needs replaced.

You can run a virus scan, start in safe mode, but this sounds like a hardware problem with the screen.

Any shops around you that you can take the laptop to and see what it might cost to replace the screen?

Hi folks, my Y70 just died yesterday shortly after screen flickering. The flickering started a day earlier at a random pattern, barley noticeable.Yesterday however the flickering increased somewhat and the laptop suddently shut down. I was able to restart but while booting it shut down again. A couple time I could access the boot menue ( I tried to boot in recovery) but it almost instantly shut down. This play was going on for maybe 5-6 times. Then the laptop wasn't powering on any more at all.I was able to see that the battery indication was showing 86% during one of the failed start ups. Of course I am out of warranty since 4 month  Contacting the support is a pain (and I wasnt able yet). Punching in the S/N in the first screen was just creating a wait animation and nothing else. I tried two different browser though both with the same result. On the second screen I was able to enter the S/N but it was generating this cryptic message. BTW clicking "yes" does of course nothing.message (under the black box the S/N was just repeated) Does any one else expirienced such behavior?I assume it's hardware related, can some one with knowledge point me in the right direction to find the faulty part? Thanks in advanceChris

Hi all, I purchased my U530 Touch laptop in January of 2015, then about a year later I had the infamous "broken hinge" issue that a lot of these laptops seem to suffer from. I sent it in to Lenovo and had it fixed though, and haven't had any other issue with it until now. The problem I am now experiencing is a very noticable flickering that moves from the bottom to the top of the screen. Changing the refresh rate only seems to change the rate at which the flickering moves. I noticed that the glossy black portion of the hinge seemed to have a slighly loose feel, and saw the screen flickering issue go away when I pressed into the hinge in the right place. You can feel and hear the plastic moving when pressing into the hinge. If you fiddle with it enough you can get it to a state where the screen doesn't flicker, but it's not an ideal solution. If the laptop gets even slightly bumped or moved, the flickering will come back. Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

ISSUEThe 720 touchpad and touchscreen are the worst.  This issue started out of the box before I had even gone on line.  When the touchpad does work, the right click/left click distinction doesn't work and I have to use the screen, when it's working, for the long hold until the right click options appear. When the screen is working, the ability to close a window and touching it just the right way is dubious at best.  I've tried modifying sensitivity, etc, in the control panel, but there is no difference.   When both window and touchpad stop functioning, I plug in an old HP mouse I have, but when I'm mobile, this means running the mouse down my leg if I don't have a surface to place my laptop upon.  And it also means carrying a mouse with me everywhere I go.  My line of work is often standing and walking with clients so  not really possible in my line of work.   RETURN/REPAIR OPTIONS AREN'T OFFERED OR ARE NOT PRACTICALTo back up a bit, I attempted to return this to BestBuy, but was four days beyond the allowable return date.  I contacted Lenovo, but it's all about mailing it in or turning the laptop over and being without anything for a few days.  Hard to find those few days.  I've tried to live it, but it's been an enormous killer of productivity, not to mention incredible frustration and some embarrsassing typos.    PAST YOGA BUILD WAS GREAT - WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE 720?My last Yoga 710 wa... After I had my laptop for 2 weeks (outside of Best Buy's return policy), the screen started flickering with circles. I contacted tech support. They said it was a virus so I got it scan for virus and nothing.  It continued to happen. I did an online search and it was suggested I turn off my touchscreen. I did that and I had no issues for about 1 month. Then my computer freezes after about 10 minutes of use.  I brought this laptop to also be used as a tablet and I am unable to do that. Hi guys, my girlfriend and I were on vacation for a week. Before leaving, her laptop (Lenovo U330P Touch with i3) wanted to do updates, but she decided, to put it into energy saving mode instead. She also turned off the power supply cord, so eventually the laptop ran out of power. Today, we came back to find the laptop with an empty battery (the battery was blinking orange, as expected). However, when starting the laptop the screen stays black and flickers from the "turned off"-black to the "turned on"-black. I tried using my TV as an external display, but it doesn't get any signal (This is the normal behaviour during startup, at least for my U330P Touch). I also tried hard resetting the laptop by removing the battery but that did not yield any results. Any ideas what might be wrong? FYI, I do have a working U330P Touch laptop myself (with an i5), so cross-checking should be somewhat possible. Thanks in advance!

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40°. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

I have a Lenovo y50-70, which I had for about 1-2 years until my screen started to flicker, so I sent it to Lenovo for reparation. Then when I got it back, it was new and the screen was fixed... until ½ year later.  My screen started to flicker AGAIN, but this time it was on a specific angle when you open/close screen. It was worse than before, because sometimes it goes into black screen, and you can't see anything unless you have placed it in the correct angle. Since my warranty expired, I decided to open up the screen using YouTube videos and pictures. I then realized there was a certain part where the screen wire doesn't look the same as mine.  It was because the screen wire was under the screw, which pressured the wire to flicker whenever the screen moves up or down...  WrongRight As you can see, on the right side, the screen is NOT under the screw. However, the left side (screen wire) is placed under the screw, which I found out was not the right way to place it.  I found a picture online where the wire is placed a bit over, so the screw could not pressure the wire making the flickering and black screen. Correct screen wire placement:Screen wire I thought a repair would fix a laptop and thereby extend its lifetime somewhat, but ironically it did the opposite. It's a matter of time I will get a black screen...  I don't know if this is on purpose or not, but I read so many of these "lenovo y50-70 screen flic... Read more

This issue may occur due to several reasons. Let us start with opening Excel in safe mode. To do that, follow the steps below.

Hold the Windows key and press R, type excel /safe (note there is a space between excel and /).

If the application works fine safe mode, try disabling the add-ins for the application and check the result.

Hello everyone. As the title says, my laptop's screen flickers. Let me say a few things i have tried.- I have already rolled back and downloaded again my intel's graphic card drivers. - I have done the same for the Nvidia graphics card but not just roll back but a complete removal.- I have pushed back and forth my screen slowly (nothing happened) The thing is, i have noticed that the screen flickers mostly when i switch on my laptop and not while it's working. Moreover, when i rolled back into previous drivers (intel's), by the time the procedure ended, the screen went into a rage and started flickering a lot, turning red and blinking and after a while it stopped. Here's a small video while i was working on the laptop --> https://youtu.be/l25SyC-c8gU I know that there is already a post about it but i though of creating a new one once i had a video included.P.S : The laptop is 5 months old.

Hi there, First time poster, so apologies if I'm not 100% sticking to protocol here! The issue I'm having is one that has been posted about time and again on Lenovo Forums - the screen flickering/blackness of the Yoga 520 (I'm not sure if it's affecting other Yoga systems, too, but certainly the 520). I've had my laptop a couple of months, and from around 2 weeks I have been afflicted with this horrible issue. Essentially, the screen randomly starts flickering like crazy and going black sometimes. This makes the laptop completely unusable until such a time as the machine starts behaving itself again (this can take a longggg time). I have taken a video in case people don't understand the situation, and this doesn't even show the worst of it:https://www.dropbox.com/s/swa41r7u6g4ndot/20180214_173640%20%281%29.mp4?dl=0 When it starts flickering and going black, the system is almost entirely unusable. Sometimes I'm able to get use by scrolling down from the top of a webpage or zooming in. These methods occasionally sedate the screen flickering, but not always. I have tried pretty much every 'solution' that I have seen offered about this issue and have had no luck whatsoever. These include disabling and enabling the touchscreen and graphics drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling these drivers, resetting the whole system, cleaning all caches, doing a static discharge, searching for driver updates, adjusting the brightness, etc, etc. The list goes on and on..... Read more

The flickering screen is not a software issue, but a hardware problem. If you have any sign that your laptop's screen is flickering, your connector from laptop base to the screen is not inserted correctly. The video link below shows how you can put the connector snuggly into the screen's socket. This thread was created AFTER I copied the steps from the video and right now my screen has no more flickering.

**Watch the video until the man unplugged the connector. You will not need to watch the rest of the video. Plug the connector back into the socket and carfully snap back the screen lid**

Also, I highly emphasize you perform the procedure carefully. I don't want a broken laptop.

If your flickering issue goes away, please spread the word of this thread. Thank you.

ADMIN EDIT - While hardware could be the cause in some cases, Lenovo has also determined that these symptoms may also be caused by downlevel BIOS.

Please see this tip from Lenovo - it is in the process of being updated to also include recommendations to update the Video driver and to make a setting change.

Change the Panel Self-Refresh setting to ?disable? in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel.

A:SOLUTION - Lenovo Y50-70 flickering screen

Well I unplugged the connector like the video and in the meantime no flickering. I will report if there any changes. I did it because before that I downloaded and installed the Nvidia new Driver, and it made my flickering worse, if before there were fast flickering now and then, after the Driver it happened to be black screen and I had to click on the power button to go to sleep mode and release it again by the same button. so that is why I did like u said.

I am having this issue on a computer i just turned on for the first time today after buying it yesterday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SIHJYWsFCI Others have this issue so what is being done to fix this?

A:Lenovo Yoga 920 Screen Flickering

Pretty sure that's a loose cable. If I were you, I'd send that back in with a thumb drive showing this video.  Just got a 920, myself, and it does not exhibit that issue.  This is out-of-the-box without installing anything?
