I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'd like to get notified if there are any changes to other groups, like Exchange Admins, or ones that have elevated rights in our organization.

Hi everybody,
ATA V. 1.9.7312.32791 - fresh install, no update
Just recently installed Microsoft's ATA. I only use lightweight deployment option for ata gateways on every domain controller available, no other ata gateways in use. So for my understanding I don't need any configuration of event forwarding since the lightweight
gateways are able to read any event locally.

I am not able to get a report about modifications of sensitive groups, it's greyed out. An informational message below it says: "No modifications of sensitive groups were observed, make sure that events forwarding is properly configured."
I changed many things about my sensitive groups for testing purpose btw.
Any hints?
Thanks!

Thanks, regards, tim

After forgetting the local administrator password, I followed that guide for offline editing the SAM registry file. This clearly caused a problem, because no I see no users in LUAG as per the attached. All the accounts work fine, except the built-in administrator account which I can't do anything with (if I try to enable it using the 'net user' command, net crashes).

I suspect I may just have to live with this, but does anyone have any suggestions about how to 'clean' the administrator account in the registry so that LUAG works again?

Thanks

Here are a couple of options:

Ask the IT guys at your former employer's what these accounts and groups are about. They will know.
Perform a destructive Factory Restore. This is the recommended option for any second-hand PC because you can never know what is lurking in there. A Factory Restore gives you the equivalent of a brand-new machine.

Okay I have been making User accounts for awhile but i have a question when it comes to this one. When I copy a user account I get the same groups and permissions. Okay fine and dandy. If not and I make a new user I only get the Domain\Users group then have to manually add in the other groups. Is there any way to change this functionality to add more groups on creation without resorting to copying?

This stems from the deny local login question I posted. I can deny login by a global group but then this means every new User ID HAS to be in that group or else it won't deny the new hires.

E.G. I set the local setting for the front desk PC's to deny log on locally for anyone who is in the Non-front desk global group. This means all users currently on our domain has to have this global group added to their user account except the ID's we want to log in. This also means all new creations should have this by default.

A:Way to tell Domain users what groups to start off with.

Hi all,

I have a bunch of email distribution lists in Exchange that contain both users and other distribution lists.

Basically I have "User A" and "User B" in both "Group A" and "Group B", but "Group B" is also part of "Group A".

Group A
---> User A
---> User B
---> Group B
Group B
---> User A
---> User B

Since User A and User B are already technically part of Group A by way of Group B, I want to remove them from Group A, and only leave them in Group B, which is still part of Group A.

Is there a powershell or other script to do this automatically? Having to do this manually, comparing groups and subgroups for hundreds of DL's is very time consuming.

All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I own a system running windows 7 enterprise and have an administrator account on it.

I would like to setup a "standard user" (not admin) account for a new user.

I plan to create a folder for the user inside of which the user will be allowed to create his own subfolders and files. I plan to right click on that folder and "send it to
the desktop".

When the user double clicks that desktop icon, he'll be running windows explorer and I don't want him to be able to see or do anything using windows explorer outside of his
"home" folder other than creating or accessing items under it.

I plan to have that user's home folder be directly under the c: drive.

Questions:

Is there a better place for it (inside of "my documents", etc) or is under the c: drive as good a place as any for these purposes?

If I put the user's "home" folder under the c: drive, what should the permissions be for which users and which groups on the c: drive toplevel itself and on the user's
"home" folder so the user can do what he wants in or under his home folder, can run a few applications located in "Program Files" such as Firefox (one of the desktop icons I will be installing) and in another folder under the c: drive where I will place a few .exe files he can also run, but NOT be able to read, write, execute or in any way modify the contents of any other folders anywhere under the c: drive?

If you do not want a user to have access to certain folders, it is fairly simple to do. For instance, say you do not want a user to see other user's files. With your administrator account, do the following:

1. Click start menu
2. Click My Computer/Computer
3. Open C: (or whatever drive your users folder is in)
4. Open the Users folder
5. Right click your administrator user folder
6. Click Properties
7. Click the Security tab
8. Click Edit
9. (You don't want username John to open this folder ever) Click Add
10. Type in John (or the username you do not want to access the folder) and hit Enter
11. Under the Deny column, put a check in Full Control.
12. Click OK and apply to all folders (you may need to do this in safe mode to apply to every folder since some folders will be in use in normal mode).

Hi all
For the past 6 months we have received reports of PC's taking up to an hour to get to the login prompt.
All our PC's are running Windows 7 32/64 Bit.
The message is always "Applying Group Policy Local Users and Groups policy"
Once it gets to the login prompt they will login with no problem.
I have enabled GPO logging on 1 PC and the results show as below (sorry for the wall of text) Boot time was 15:16.
I was hoping someone else had come across this issue and maybe has some insight
Network team say "its not the network"!!
Server Team say "Its not DNS or Group Policy" !!
So its been left with me on the desktop team to diagnose the fault

I can sign into my Yahoo groups account but can only see the first page of groups (I belong to about 70 groups). When I click on "View all Groups" I get the following message:
"We're sorry, but we were unable to complete your request at this time.

If you continue to receive this error for more than 48 hours, please contact our Customer Support staff. We apologize for this inconvenience."

I have tried from various workststations(home and at work), made sure cookies were turned on, dropped the firewall, etc. I even went to the lost groups locator utility, no result.

Yahoo tech support does not respond, I have tried many times in the last two months (I got what I paid for).

Any ideas?

Dear all the helpers

Well, i've been having this problems for around 4 months already and i cannot figure out what's is wrong with my newly built PC.
PC info:
Pentium 4 3.2 GHz HyperThreading
Asus mobo PC480 Delux with free WI-FI antenna edition
HDD 200GB serial seagate
1024MB DDR RAM
128MB Graphic card,WinFast A350XT
Monitor Samsung 173V

Windows XP Professional
Note: If you need more info about my PC please ask

Here're the problems:
- I don't what's wrong everytime that i touch something in the back of my System Units (all the ports and stuff) my PC just stop working by not sending any signal to the Monitor(blank with LED light flashing)
- Sometimes when i stand by the PC too long, say 4 or 5 hours then when i try to start up again it doesn't do so, again the same sign, the monitor is keep flashing its green light by not showing anything and the harddisk of the PC is not spinning anymore.
- Also the same thing happen when i run alot of applications(Like Norton Live Update, Signing in MSN, and a couple of Mozilla Windows) that use my Internet connection ( it's a LAN internet shared by Wireless switch outside my room).

Everytime that i have such kind of problems above when i try to boot my PC it doesn't boot (Means there's nothing comes up on the Monitor with flashing green light, HDD just run for a while then stop, and there's some wierd noise comes out of my Speakers as well it's like chinese or sth, wierd huh?

Stange isn't it. I post a question about an AOL problem, nobody answers it so I say I'm fed up with AOL and I'm going to dump it.
Suddenly, my post is no longer available and I'm not able to log in. Couldn't be because AOL doesn't want to hear the criticism could it?
As a "from the begining" AOL user, I'd still be marginally happy with it if any real help was available when they decide to change things that we don't want and don't work.
AOL has gone so far from it's original premise that it's no wonder it wouldn't work for Time Warner. In fact it's a wonder anybody is still sticking with it.
How about wising up and getting some real time help even for us "free" users? After all AOL was the one that wanted us to stop paying for their service.

A:AOL - a little sensitive?

Your other thread was deleted because you said your fix was to delete AOL - "Listen -- that sound you hear is AOL being flushed down the Computer Commode."

And your other comment led us to believe you had no further use for this forum - "Seems like this "help" forum is just as useless as AOL is."

Recently i have been having problems with my microphone as it is not sensitive enough. I was using astro a40s and they worked fine and everybody can hear me in discord but after those broke i have tried using razer, an beat headsets and they still can barely hear me in discord even though they said that they put me at 200% volume. I thought getting a newer headset (astro a50 gen 3) would fix it but it did not. My volume in recording devices is all the way up and my input device in discord is as well.

What exactly does "case sensitive" mean?

A:Case Sensitive

Case sensitive means when your Caps Lock is turned on. The letters can be BIG, like that, or can be small. That is especially important when you're logging into an account. Don't turn Caps Lock on when you're typing in a password, but if you have capital letters in your password then using Caps Lock could help.

Hello everyone!

I am using my sister's notebook and having major issues with mouse sensitivity.

Windows XP on HP Compaq 6730s

The touchpad seems to be overly sensitive to the point where basically lightly grazing it will move the mouse. It also seems like the cursor jumps randomly making typing on this or even using it at all nearly impossible!

I have tried to check the settings in the control panel but I can only find settings for a regular mouse, nothing about touch sensitivity... unless i'm looking in the wrong place... would these kind of settings be found in Mouse or Keyboard settings in Control Panel? Or somewhere else?

I am wondering if it is a driver problem?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Even typing this paragraph has taken me too long and the cursor has jumped 7 times already

Thanks!

A:Mouse TOO sensitive

ok..... so i decided to go with my gut and update the driver AND IT WORKED but then i kept getting an error message saying there was an error and "send or do not send" to report problem.. i kept closing the error box and it would just pop back up... so then i tried updating the live updates, and when i rebooted there were no more pop up error messages...

i went into control panel and opened the mouse settings and it was ALL THERE, finally! so I changed the sensitivity and it seems to be working PERFECT now!!!

thanks for taking the time to read it, for those of you who did, and even tho i resolved the issue myself, i figured i should at least post the update on how i fixed it (in case anyone in the future stumbles upon this same issue)
