Preferred Solution: Stupid Diet Patch Spyware

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Stupid Diet Patch Spyware

Here are some initial instructions. We may need a deeper look yet.....

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CA0E28FA-1AFD-4C21-A8DC-70EB5BE2F076} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O9 - Extra button: Yahoo! Messenger - {E5D12C4E-7B4F-11D3-B5C9-0050045C3C96} - C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\MESSEN~1\YPager.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Yahoo! Messenger - {E5D12C4E-7B4F-11D3-B5C9-0050045C3C96} - C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\MESSEN~1\YPager.exe (file missing)

Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file.

I have the dreaded mydietpatch pop-up that especially likes to wake me in the middle of the night.

I ran Spybot and Ad-Aware prior to this HJT log.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

A:my diet patch pop-up

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run ad-aware SE with VX2 add-on cleaner, Spybot Search & Destroy (with updated database) and CWShredder as these programs will clean a lot of the crap out first. All links to programs are in my signature. Ok..on to the log?..

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be but make sure)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Sktempdm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Tovs.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Tovs.exe

Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure you do not miss an entry)

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

A:My Diet Patch Ad Pop Up Please Help

Hello, and welcome to TSF.

A couple of infections there; we'll use the tools, first.

You have the Peper infection. Download PeperUninstall. Make sure you are connected online to run this program. Run it once and reboot. Then run it again for the second time. Download PeperFix and save it to your Desktop. Run it and click Find and Fix (reboot if prompted).

Download CWShredder and click on Fix (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you). If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here.

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Go to this site to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants.

Then, reboot and post a new HJT log

I've done the adaware, spybot, and cwshredder. I use mozilla, but need to keep IE for a couple of work programs.

I'm getting an increasing number of ie popups, even when ie isn't open. Dietpatch is the worst, but there are more.

Thanks for giving this a look.

Hi,

I have a friend who has the Diet Patch pop up ad on his computer and I cannot get rid of it. I've tried using AdAware, and Spybot to remove it without success, and then recently read about HiJack This on your forum. I've made a copy of the HiJack log file and was hoping someone would be able to walk me through this process. Thanks in advance for all of your help and time!

Before you give us a new log here, if we gave you instructions for a fix, please do the fixes first and then post the new log with this updated version.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.

3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. I have run Hijack this and have tried to clean up the clearly faulty info, but it keeps coming back. Could someone please help me?

CWShredder found nothing, nor did Mcaffee. I tried running SPybot, but it freezes one me. I reinstalled it and added the patch from MajorGeeks.com, but it still freezes on me when I try and fix the problems it finds.

Here is my Hijack this log: I twould be great if someone could tell me what to delete.

I recently got hit by tons of spyware/Malware and I learned that the paid version of Panda is NOTHING compred to Spybot and Malwarebytes! NOOTTTHHHIIIINNNNNGGGG!!!!!!

Panda said I was clean! Meanwhile These viruses totally wiped out my updates and caused ALL kinds of issues.... I got it fixed now... reinstalled my original software FREE.... and now Im updating again.... hopefully the service packs fix my operating system cause I DONT want to do my 20th recovery in less than a year.... this machine is so old and obsolete its useless! 7 yrs old... and small... not the issue.

Anyways! I have Spybot and Malwarebytes back on here and ZoneAlarms firewall.... but my security center, now that I have my updates, says that I have no Anti-virus! It didnt do that before when I had this stuff on here.... I had NO issues, until I put Panda on here! I hate you Panda... What do you reccomend??? Uninstall Spybot and Malwarebytes and then reinstall??? Install AVG free or Lavasoft Ad-Aware or both w/ my other two programs???? I imagine I'll have some MAJOR Anti-virus Clashing wars on here then if I did that.... I have the exes all downloaded and I will try uninstalling/reinstalling in the mean time... I'd just like to know if I include something else on here! I also have Spyware Blaster installed!

TY :)

A:STUPID SPYWARE.... Stupid Panda....

Okay.... so ALL my microsoft updates are reinstalled and my operating system works again... WHEW!!!! Ive ran several scans w/ Malwarebytes and Spybot and anything they didnt get, which was only one thing, I went after manually thru a search/delete via my op system. Ive uninstalled Malwarebytes and Spybot and reinstalled them and my security center STILL says I have no Anti-virus software.... Are they NOT Anti-virus protection or should I also install AVG free as well??? I really like Lavasoft but Im sure its the same as Spybot but less potent... NO? Whatchu think???? For now until u give me further notice Im gonna install AVG free. If I run into probs then Ill remove it. Some of ur time would be PRECIOUS!!!!!! When everythings up to par again Ill run hijack this and post my log... just to make sure Im clean. Thankyou for ALL the support youve given me in the past! Youve taught me MUCH!!!!

Okay, I've ran Spybot AND Ad Aware, everytime I run it they both find the same things over and over, even when they say those items were removed! Other items can't be fixed and ask if they can run on startup. Everytime I choose that option they both startup AFTER Windows XP starts so those programs are already running. I thought it was because my computer didn't automatically start up (It goes to the log in menu first)
Well I went to change my account options so I could have computer start up without the login screen and I noticed ANOTHER acount named some stupid Ad name I changed the name and removed the password but it doesn't show up on the login screen... I need help What do I...

It sounds like you have multiple malware problems going on with your computer so I suggest posting a HijackThis log in the HJT Logs and Analysis Forum. Here is a link to that Forum: HJT ForumPlease follow the preparation directions and try not to alter your system until you receive help from one of our HJT Team Members. The preparation directions are found at the following link:Prep Guide for Posting HJT LogsMake sure to follow every step in the prep guide because the scans you are instructed to run will help alleviate some immediate problems. Please note: Do not try to fix any problems with HJT yourself. This is an advanced tool and requires expert analysis. It may take a couple of days before a helper can get to your log so please be patient; they are very busy but once they get to you, you'll be on your way to having a totally malware free and secure PC.I hope this helps you out!

Hello everyone,
I've never used this forum but it looks to have a lot of knowledgable folks here.
I have been having problems since the 15th of this month and have bought Spyhunter, ran Spybot S&D with new updates, ran Corp. version of Norton Antivirus, and downloaded Hijack this. All of these programs have found infected files and removed most of them but everyday it keeps coming back and I have no clue what to do. From reading it seems like I should post a Hijackthis log and maybe somebody can help me remove the culprit.

Any help is much appreciated cuz Im about to pull my freaking hair out by now!!!!

What program is advising you of the spyware? Could you describe the spyware...name, location...are you getting any pop up alerts? That would help give us a clue as to what your dealing with. What OS (Win XP/2000, etc) are you using? Have you tried doing your scans in "SAFE MODE"? Are you doing scans while logged into the Administrator's account or an account with administrator privileges? If not, do so and then download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware FreeDouble-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation. An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program. If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and unzip into the program's folder.)Reboot in "SAFE MODE using the F8 method and launch SUPERAntispyware. In the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer. There are three scanning options. Choose "Perform Complete Scan" and click "Next".After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Hello,We need to perform in different steps to get rid of the different infections. You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exehttp://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exeSave the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Somehow i've managed to get spy and adware on my computer, which is really weird because I've not done anything that would warrant it. I very rarely download stuff that would contain this crap and I'm very careful when I do, plus I haven't visited any "sites" that might infect me with it. I've got Norton Antivirus always running and I've used spysweeper and adware to remove it, but it's still here. I'm still getting pop ups for Golden Palace Casino and other crap. Gahd. Any ideas how to get rid of this stuff? Using winxp... thanks! Plus, i've got the IETool bar in IExplorer. It keeps killing my google taskbar and redirecting my searches to some stupid site. what did i do?

I've ran two different antivirus programs and they came up nill, followed by SpyBot S&D along with Spysweeper. They cleared out all of my little spyware, but I'm still infected. All of these programs were completely updated along with new definitions. So I got HiJack This to see if you all can help me with my woes... Here ya go!

It's like a fake security warning, warning me of multiple things like my computer isn't safe and that i have viruses, i have about 4 spyware programs, they don't pick it up so i can't get rid.

it looks like this in the add/remove programs and when i do try to uninstall it, it says i must reboot, and when i do reboot, it says it cannot finish the task just before it shuts down.
it also pops us system perfomance notices things like these;

i mean why would windows tell me to buy software it's insane and it's drving me insane.

A:STUPID SPYWARE...i can't get rid, help!

Hello ajsbsp,

This is not from Microsoft. We can help you remove this, but we need a HijackThis log to begin.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine the extent of any spyware/malware on your computer. Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIJACKTHIS\

Double click on HijackThis.exe to run the program.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Post the hijackthis.log file in this thread.

Hi.Welcome..

Please download Combofix: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/combofix.exe
and save to the desktop.

1. Double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.
2. When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
3. Post the contents of that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.

Notes:
* Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to stall/hang.
* Do not proceed with the rest of the fix if you fail to run combofix
* Disable script blocking if you have NAV installed so it will not interfere with the fix. Trojan Hunter has been reported to detect combofix as Worm.Qiv.100.

Dear Experts,

I have few queries :
> i have been pacthing IE on win 2012 R2 servers from Oct 2017 and the latest deployed pacth is April 2018 roll out. but when i scan these server by Vulnerability scanners- it detects  june 2017 IE patch missing(which i know was never deplyed as
i started patching from Oct 2017 ) and i believe this June 2017 IE patch requires below registry key to be present , which they are not :
The following registry key is missing.
This registry key is required to enable the fix for CVE-2017-8529:
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PRINT_INFO_DISCLOSURE_FIX\iexplore.exe
SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PRINT_INFO_DISCLOSURE_FIX\iexplore.exe
My Query is -
Does the installation of the superseding patch adds/updates the registry keys required for the patch it supersedes. In this case should  the successfull installation of April 2018 IE patch be adding these registry keys required for June 2017 IE patch.
if not  is there any documentation related to this ?

Unauthorized Patch For Microsoft WMF Bug Sparks Controversy

Sober worm may hit tomorrow, but businesses are more concerned about the WFM vulnerability and Microsoft's inability to produce a patch this week. Some are choosing an alternative that could lead to other problems.

By Larry Greenemeier
InformationWeek

Jan 4, 2006 01:00 PM

Concerns over the lack of a Microsoft-issued patch have pushed the Windows Metafile/Zero-Day bug to top of mind, surpassing even tomorrow's much-anticipated Sober worm attack.

The lag time between the Dec. 27 discovery of the WMF vulnerability and Microsoft's planned Jan. 10 patch availability has forced IT security departments to find alternative means for protecting their systems and prompted a non-Microsoft developer to create a patch that others could use.

All of this serves to damage Microsoft's reputation as a company that can secure its own products—a reputation that only recently was beginning to improve after years of being dragged through the mud. Experts are divided over whether it's wise to use Ilfak Guilfanov's Hexblog patch to fix the WMF vulnerability, which could allow attackers to use WMF images to execute malicious code on their victims' computers. Some say it's a necessary measure to protect systems until the official Microsoft patch arrives; others say it's not worth the extra work to patch twice or to take the risk of using a third-party fix.

So i made the mistake of following some online instructions (not from here) about how to get rid of a certain type of spyware. i renamed two files that are necessary to load windows and all i need to do is rename them back.

i'm running winxpsp2. i have a windows98 disc, a win2k disc, a winxppro disc and a UBCD, which i assume is my best bet, but have no idea how to use it. With the xppro disk, i tried to repair, but its insisting i put in an administrator password that was never created (just hitting enter doesn't work either). So without that password, i can't reach a c: prompt via the winxp disc.

All i need to do is get to a c: prompt. i know the names of the files i changed. i know what they should be. i know where they're located. i just can't access them because i can't get to a c: prompt. Oh and safemode doesn't work either.

i *really* don't want to have to eff up my computer by reinstalling windows just because i renamed two stupid files.

Q: Diet 7

Hello all,

Well, I need some help here. I produce music with several software and hardware, audio interfaces, synths and software synths. Now, I'll try to use and test Windows 7 on this, under serious works. Since I use MAC for that, my windows laptop has no GREAT hardware, but I think it will do the work. Core 2 Duo 1,6 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 120 HD.

So this is what I need: to clean an installation of Windows 7 to keep it as light as possible. I mean, no internet or networks, so, no antivirus or firewall. Disable AS MUCH AS IT CAN BE DISABLED to run heavy apps FAST. As I did one time on XP, I managed to get like 120 MB of RAM used and 17 processes running in a very stable system to work with. I want to do the same with 7 and test stability of system, since I and many people use their laptops to play live shows, this info could be really useful, as well as DPC latencies and other stuff.

In Xp I disabled services, installed just the necessary drivers, disabled networks and kept the color display at 16 bit. I think that Win 7 should not be that different: disable services, etc. BUT, I see that it installs network drivers automatically and enables that. I don't want that. I also plan to disable windows aero.

Any ideas? Thanks!

A:Diet 7

Well you can most likely disable network drivers and just about anything else.

But to be honest 7 is very stable at least in the 7000 build and considering it is still in beta by the time the real version comes out I am sure it will run very fast regardless of what you have running.

On a fresh start up using 4gigs of ram windows 7 with everything enabled uses just under 1gig.

Point being that even if you leave it stock settings it is going to be very very stable and fast.

Hi Dillon, wow, you were away for awhile. Let's get this log cleaned up now....

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

I see you have P2P software installed on your machine (i.e. Trillian). We are not here to pass judgement on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to a re-infection. It is certainly a contributor to your current situation. I will make recommendations below for removal, which you can choose to ignore where this P2P application is involved. It's your decision.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Resto... Read more

You obviously have Ad-Ware already on your machine that isn't being found by your scanners. Try posting a Hijack-This log and see if someone here can show you how to kill it off.

Windows 7 on a Diet, to Match the Hardware Requirements of the Vista Hog

Under the leadership of Steven "Don't Call Me Transparent" Sinofsky, Senior Vice President, Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group, Microsoft will no longer repeat the five year gap between Windows XP and Windows Vista, or the mistakes done with the latest Windows client. The first sign that the Windows 7 apple will drop fat from the Windows Vista tree is the fact that the next iteration of Windows, due at the end of 2009, will be tailored for the same hardware infrastructure as XP's successor.

Rather than being a re-write of Microsoft's proprietary operating system, Windows 7
will simply build on top of Windows Vista's graphics, audio, and storage subsystems. At the same time, the Vista kernel will evolve into Windows 7's core, as Sinofsky and Christopher Flores, Director Windows Communications denied that Microsoft is building a new kernel from the ground up. Windows 7 will indeed feature an advanced model of componentization and a new kernel architecture, but it will do it by straying only superficially from what Vista is today.

"While these changes will increase our engineering agility, they will not impact the user experience or reduce application or hardware compatibility. In fact, one of our design goals for Windows 7 is that it will run on the recommended hardware we specified for Windows Vista and that the applications and devices that work with Windows Vista will be... Hi,

Basically what i'm trying to do is to record my diet for a 7 day period in excel for bodybuilding.

For this I thought it would be good if i could have a big table of all the food with their protein, carb and calorie content stored, so that when filling in my food diary, i could just choose one of the foods from a drop-down list and all the nutritional info would come up next to it and be totalled up for the whole day.

I've done excel in school, but that was a while ago, so i'm a bit rusty!

Any help you can give would be really helpful!

Thanks a lot, Theo
