Optional displayport not working after board replacement M900 Tiny

Q: Optional displayport not working after board replacement M900 Tiny

Hello, I have a M900 Tiny and I called Lenovo support and they told me that my motherboard needs to be replaced due to a bad USB port, a week went by and the part finally came in. I had the tech come out and everythig seems to be working expect the Optional displayport. I called in to the support line again and they told me they need to replace the board again!!!!! The part isn't in stock and they don't know when it will be in, this isn't accetable at all.. So I have 2 questions, 1) Is there a setting somewhere to get it working?2) Is it possiable they gave me the wrong motherboard that dosn't support the Optional displayport?3) Any other ideas? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a ThinkCentre M73.  I bought a hdmi to displayport adapter.  Connected it to my Samsung TV and nothing is showing.  Not even a signal.  Blank screen.  I have installed the lenovo solution centre and the companion and installed the latest drivers.  Still nothing works.  How do I get this to work?

HDMI to DisplayPort or DisplayPort to HDMI? Most likely the latter?Assuming the latter, is it an active or passive converter?

For all of our desktops we have the display set to turn off after 1 hour of inactivity to save power and extend the life of the monitor.  With the Tiny-In-One 24 & M700 Tiny, once the monitor turns off, it won't wake back up by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard.  The Tiny is still running just fine I can remote to it from another machine but even remoting to it and logging in does not wake the screen.  This is with the TIO running in AIO mode.  The only way to wake the screen is to use the user controls on the front of the monitor to switch to DP mode and back to AIO mode.

Is this a know bug?  Running Windows 7 and I've already reinstalled all drivers and ran the lenovo system update utility and everything is up-to-date.  I also set the display to turn off after only a minute to do more testing and about 1 in every 10 tries, the monitor will wake up normally.  The rest of the time I have to use the user controls on the front of the monitor.

A:Tiny-In-One 24 & M700 Tiny - Monitor Won't Wake - TIO 23, M900 Tiny

In addition to the same exact thing that Banner has, (well I wake it by pressing the power button, it goes off, then press again, it comes on, then move mouse to wake) but in addition to that quite a few of our clients mention that when they sit down at the computer (without touching anything) it immediately goes black, shows AIO Mode in the top left corner and goes back to the normal screen.

Different Intel chipset implies a different motherboard.   Providing processor, memory, storage is the same speed, I would suspect that the performance is the same or similar.

I have an M900 Tiny that has a intermittent problem with dropping brightness on the displayport out. I'm not setting it anywhere. Sometimes when coming out of sleep (windows 7 x64 Pro) it just won't send video. I can swap the DP cable to another monitor and the problem is the same. A hard reboot solves it, leading me to think it's definitely something WRT the sleep/video configuration. I've had it running in Maximum Performance power mode with no OS sleep settings, just 'turn off the monitor after 6 minutes'. The video driver version is: 20.19.15.4474 This is a somewhat recent problem, as it hasn't always done this. Anyone run into a similar situation? And found an actual fix/solution? Not just guesses, please.

Hello all,up to quite recently, I had been running Debian Stretch (4.4 kernel) on an Intel NUC NUC5I7RYH using two SSDs (Samsung 850 Pro and a Samsung 951) in RAID 0 array with no problems.Having used IBM/Lenovo equipment for decades, I decided to purchase a Lenovo M900 Tiny as I was impressed with the specifications and the physical size of the thing. One dark night, I decided to transfer my RAID 0 array from the NUC (see above) to the M900 (physically remove the SSDs from the NUC and insert them into the M900). Lo and behold, my Debian came up on the M900 with no problems, DMESG reported nothing untowards etc. This setup had been running for a week or so until with hindsight, I unwisely decided to upgrade the M900 BIOS. The original factory BIOS had a release date of December 2015 as far as I can remember. The new BIOS is FWKT38A and was released on 10.02.2016. Needless to say, after this upgrade, that was the end of my RAID 0 and my Debian. I have since reinstalled Debian on the M900, using the two abovementioned SSDs in a RAID 0 array - everything completes as it should, at this stage I would expect to have a bootable system - but no. On boot, no diagnostics, error messages, just a "black screen".I have run all of the Lenovo diagnostics on all hardware components (including the SSDs) with no error messages returned. If I install Debian using just one of the SSDs (Samsung 850 Pro), things work, i.e. the system comes up (boots).I am at a loss here as to why things are not wor... Frustrated... someone suggested that I update the BIOS on my newly acquired Tiny M900. I went to the Lenovo support page, downloaded the CD ISO, created a bootable USB, but now what? Do I just drop the ISO into the USB? Does it have to be "burned"? I tried just dropping the ISO into the bootable USB but upon reboot, my machine just went straight into Windows. I looked around in the BIOS but did not see anything (that an end user with my limited techno geek knowledge) indicated there was any issue with the boot order. Also, I'm concerned because according to the BIOS screen, my machine's current BIOS version is FTWC21a, but it looks like all the BIOS versions listed in the READ ME file start with FWKT?! Can anyone just provide clear instructions on how to create the bootable USB flash drive and update the BIOS? Thank you in advance!

A:M900 Tiny BIOS

Correction: The BIOS screens says the BIOS version is FTWC21A, but I see in the Lenovo Companion application that it's showing as FWKT38A. According to the READ ME file, there are 2 BIOS updates since this version.

Hi, Happy New Year to all. Please help resolve the fan noise or rather, fan going full speed even with 0% CPU usage after SSD upgrade. My M900 was configured with i7 CPU, 8 GB RAM and 128 GB stock Samsung SSD. I remembered that when I first opened the box, I was quite impressed by its high quality materials and solid construction. I placed the Tiny in the All-in-one 24 in monitor. The whole combo worked as well as advertised. Everything was going great until the SSD was upgraded to 1TB Crucial MX 300. (Acronis was used to migrate OS from Samsung to Crucial SSD). The new Curcial SSD booted up fine but shortly after logging into the Win 10, the fan started going full speed although the CPU usage was less than 20%. The fan slowed down after a while but whould pick up the speed intermittently.  To resolve the problem, I installed the updated BIOS (FWKT63A) and partitioned the 1 TB SSD drive into two 500 GB drives. It worked well. The fan became quiet! Not to leave good enough alone, I decided to intall a Samsung PCIe NVMe 500 GB (Samsung 960 EVO Series - 500GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6E500BW)) in the M.2 slot. What a mistake! The fan has been going full blast ever since, even after the Samaung NVMe drive was removed. To be sure, I even replaced the Crucial 1 TB drive with the stock Samsung 128 GB SSD that came with the computer. Still, the fan noise continued to be unrelenting.  I then thought it could be the m... Read more

I suggest a 'clear CMOS', otherwise known as a CMOS reset.   Refer to this thread:  M900x & Tiny: Recover from failed BIOS update (CMOS jumper)   Skip the connect CD step, leave it powered up for 5min with the jumper removed.

Do it with the stock components, and ensure the fan is working normally.   Try the all mods again, if the fan runs at high again, try a clear CMOS with the mods in place, and see if it fixes it.

After spend more than 50 Man-Hours on this issue, now I finally solved it out. Here is the way I made it: Go get a copy of Acronis True Image 2016, I was using the edition 19.0.6571, use the disk edition to boot the machine, then select the original disk as source disk, use the newly added SSD as destination disk. Click process, then mess around for a while till it shows up "finish". Remove the external disk drive, the original HDD, leave the SSD inside. Start up, and everything you need is there. And, for unknown reason, once you finish all above, then press F11 during system boot, the R&R works perfect. PS.I didn't try the R&R disk at this moment, probably it still won't works. Anyway, thanks to the amazing Acronis True Image, now the issue has been solved. Cheers!

The M900 Tiny has no PCI expansion slots due to is size, so adding an internal WiFi card is not an option, but you could add an external USB WiFi adapter if desired. The M900 Tiny should already have an built in 802.11ac dual-band WiFi adapter, so you really should not need anything other than the correct driver to use the WiFi function.     Is there some reason you cannot use the built in WiFi?

1. Yes, it's possible to activate vPro service remote access, but... you wil need a vPro aware management console (AMT capable), among a host of other items as revealed here: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/guides/vpro-setup-and-configuration-guid...This is not a solution for users, as in LogMeIn or Teamviewer, etc...2. If you want to use the full 8GB, you'll have to switch to a 64bit operating system.

I recently purchased a m900 Tiny and installed an Intel 600p NVMe SSD in it. It immediately started showing errors in both Windows 10 and Linux 4.8, and did so even with another SSD in place of it, and even after Lenovo support replaced the motherboard. It appears to be a bug in UEFI, prior to v45 the issue did not show up under Linux 4.8 but it still did under Windows. UEFI v5F claims to have fixed this issue, but unfortunately did not actually do so under Windows 10 or Linux 4.8. CHANGES for FWKT5FA
- [Important] Update includes security fixes.
- Fix Windows Event Viewer reports WHEA_Logger Event ID 17 error with some kind of configurations.
- Support IPV4 and IPV6 boot when Boot Mode is set as "UEFI Only". I tried getting phone support to route me to someone that I could report the issue in the UEFI firmware to for nearly an hour and many transfers later they finally said they were not able to do so and that there was nothing else they could do. This is obviously unacceptable, why is it that they can't report issues to the UEFI team? I work in level 3 support, and telling the customer 'sorry' we can't tell someone else in our own company about a major issue would get a serious reprimand. -- Under Linux 4.8 the issue shows up like the following, repeated thousands of times per second: Dec 6 22:53:53 ubuntu-mate kernel: [ 5.550386] pcieport 0000:00:1b.0: AER: Corrected error received: id=00d8Dec 6 22:53:53 ubuntu-mate kernel: [ 5.550403] p... Hi everyone,I am the happy owner of a TinkCentre 'Tiny' M900 desktop with 32Gb RAM and an i5 CPU (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500T CPU @ 2.50GHz).I've been looking for a way to add more horsepower and since some of the M900 tiny desktops were sold with core i7 cpus, I've been wondering if the following upgrades would work:Current CPU: i5-6500T CPU @ 2.50GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 530, 35W, DMI 3.0). (6th Gen)Candidate #1: i7-6700T CPU @ 2.80GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 530, 35W, DMI 3.0). (6th Gen)Candidate #2: i7-7700T CPU @ 2.90GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 630, 35W, DMI 3.0). This one is a 7th Gen (KabyLake).Candidate #3: Xeon E3-1268L V5, LGA 1151, Intel P530, 35W, DMI 3.0 (Same Gen, it seems). Some people seem to have been successful with Xeons and the M900 Tiny. All of these chips feature an LGA1151 socket, 35W TDP. I'd be curious if people would recommend either candidate for replacing the original cpu..Thanks,Vincent

Hello, I have the Lenovo ThinkCentre 'M900 Tiny' (10FMCTO1WW). Acording to this page: https://store.emprgroup.com.au/p-413179-45n1041.aspxMy system is compatible with the 'Ultrabay Battery'. Could you please confirm if the 'Ultrabay Battery' is compatible with either the 'ThinkCentre Tiny Storage Unit' (http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/accessories-and-monitors/tiny-accessories/tiny-brackets/MECHANICAL-Thin...) or the 'ThinkCentre Tiny DVD Super Burner' (http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/accessories-and-monitors/memory-and-storage/dvd-players/DVD-DRIVE-Slim-...). Or otherwise advise how the 'Ultrabay Battery' (or any external battery) can be connected to the 'M900 Tiny'. Thank you

Hey, About 5 months ago i decided to swap my HDD for an SSD, for some extra speed. However, when opening the laptop i broke the ribbon cable off the power button board. In the last 5 months i tried buying a replacement from ebay. I have bought boards from 3 different sellers, and not one of them worked. They all showed the same behavior; plugging and then unplugging the cable from the motherboard started the computer, and as soon as i put the cable back in, the computer shut down. I used a multimeter to see what was going on, and it turns out the new boards did not switch anything, whereas the original board switched when the button was pushed (of course). Is there a way i can purchase an official replacement?  Thanks in advance!

I just got this M700 SFF desktop, which has 2 Displayports and 1 VGA output. The PC has Intel HD 530 Integrated Graphics. - Should I be able to use THREE monitors at "extended desktop" setting from 2 X DP + 1 X VGA? Right now, I am running One (Dell S2216H) Monitor from One of the Displayport via DP to HDMI adapter (since the monitor doesn't support DP input) and another same model monitor from the VGA output, using a VGA cable. If I try the second Displayport, it seems to show no output. I tried the same setup as the first monitor, DP>DP to HDMI Adapter>HDMI cable>Monitor; doesn't work. I tried unplugging the VGA connected one and run the setup, doesn't work. I shifted the working setup i.e. DP Adapter>HDMI to that displayport from the working one, the monitor doesn't get any input. In both cases, monitors connected to the last Displayport isn't detected by the graphics card or control panel. I have updated my BIOS to .....67 (as shown in Lenovo Support page) and changed the Display from PCE to IGD (as suggested in another Lenovo Support forum), but the BIOS setting doesn't show any option for "Enable Multiple Monitor Support" I have designated the DP>HDMI connected monitor as my primary display. - How can I get the other Displayport to work? - Can I use two Displayport output (via HDMI) to two monitors simultaneously at extended desktop setting? - How can I check/diagnose if that Displayport is correctly connected for giving any output at all?

Hello all, I'm having quite the issue with a batch of Lenovo M700 (10HY 21US) tinys. I've had at least a dozen with displayport issues. We purchased them in bulk from our vendor about 9 months ago, and are just now getting around to using them to replace older models. We're running Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise. We're running into issues with the monitors connected thru the displayport to VGA cutting out. It doesn't matter which port we use, the monitor will still cut out. We've tried different displayport adapters, we've tried different monitors, etc. It seems to happen regardless of hardware brand. We've also managed to run Lenovo system update, update the bios and all of the drivers, etc. We're very stumped at the moment because after everything we have tried the monitors will still cut out and come back on. It's definitely NOT a monitor issue. Also, there is no VGA port on the M700 model we have. If we use a 3rd party USB to VGA adapter we have no issues, it's just the displayport to VGA that we have issues with. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My M900 tiny gets lots of WHEA-Logger Event 17 warning after wake up from sleep mode everytime. This event refresh really fast. (From picture, you can see lots of warning in the same second.) System: Windows 10 Pro 14393  Error Message: A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Component: PCI Express Root Port
Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)

Bus:Device:Function: 0x0:0x1B:0x0
Vendor ID:Device ID: 0x8086:0xA167
Class Code: 0x30400

The details view of this entry contains further information.  I check device manager. The Samsung NVMe SSD is connected to this PCI Express port. I had done the following step, all not works.1. Windows Update2. Update driver to newest3. Update BIOS (UEFI Firmware)4. Recovery Windows with Lenovo official recovery image I just disable Diagnostic Policy Service in Windows Services. This helps stop this warning refresh in event viewer, but I think this is just a workaround. The Lenovo solution center checks are all pass. Is this hardware issue or software issue? If this is hardware issue, I may RMA this machine to Lenovo.

Hello - curious where I can find information about setting the time in the BIOS for my M900 Tiny.... Primary issue: How do I set the M900 BIOS time to local time and have it remain without (apparently resetting) to UTC? I can set the time to local time (America / New York / EST) in the BIOS and boot into my OS and everything is fine, BUT once I power off the machine and return to the BIOS the time has been reset back to UTC (apparently) because it always increments +5 hours. The real issue I'm having if I have the machine wake from power-off, my cron jobs (Linux OS) kick off 5 hours early whenever the machine power cycles. Thanks for any insight.
