Windows 10 keeps trying to upgrade on Windows 7 Ultimate Running on a iMac Bootcamp which does support Windows 10

Q: Windows 10 keeps trying to upgrade on Windows 7 Ultimate Running on a iMac Bootcamp which does support Windows 10

I own several computers. Some PC's and a mid-2010 iMac 27 inch. Windows 10 upgrade worked fine on my PC's. After I signed up for the upgrade on my iMac Bootcamp running Windows 7 Ultimate, Apple announced it will not support my particular iMac version. I
have tried to no avail to stop the Windows 10 upgrade, which has failed several times. I have uninstalled Windows updates associated with the upgrade: KB 3035583, KB 3033929, and KB2952664, and hidden them in Windows Update. Any suggestions as to how to stop
Windows 10 upgrade? Any work around to install the upgrade on my iMac?

Thanks, Jeff

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

About halfway through my Windows 7 upgrade (32 bit), I get this error:

Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure
all files required for installation are available, and restart the
installation. Error code: 0x80070002

I'm running the upgrade through the Vista partition on my mac. Does anyone have any solutions? I don't want a clean install, since I've got way too many important applications installed on my partition, I don't have to spend days reinstalling everything.

nasman, that error code says exactly what is described, a file is missing or corrupted. Are you running the upgrade from the original DVD or have you tried to copy the files to the HD?

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown bo... Read more

Hi all, this is my first post on here so I hope I am doing things correctly!?

I need some help please! Yesterday I installed Bootcamp on my Mac and then installed Windows 10. My Mac partition seems fine and working normally. My Windows partition has no sound and the keyboard F keys aren't working either... other programs seem fine, I am running Office and CC programs without issue.

I'm hoping someone has come across this before me and has a solution?

Thanks! ;O)

Hi furners, welcome to Ten Forums. To use the function keys, you need to hold the function(Fn) key also. F1 is Fn + F1. Here is some more info on using the apple keyboard in windows. Use your Apple Keyboard in Windows with Boot Camp - Apple Support .

For the sound not working try downloading the bootcamp support software again. See this If you don't see some features of your Mac in Windows - Apple Support .

It started with my control panel window icon's disappearing
The I can not name new folders without a error message, if I try again then it works.

My computer has gone to the black screen , with the blue screen insert, explaining a fatal error has occurred...
And this AM I got this message (see attached)
I am considering wiping my windows side out-- but am concerned it is a greater issue...

The OSX side is fine but I need to run Autocad and the OSX Autocad stinks....

A:Running Windows7 on Bootcamp-- having windows errors

I only ask because no one else has responded: Have you tried Googling the exact error message? Some of those results look promising.

In general my first step is to Google the exact text of error messages, so have you tried that with the other ones you get?

If you've already tried all that, can you give some more technical details about your problem?

It's not possible, neither can it be made possible as the upgrade wouldn't install from a trial version, and even if it did, it would cause persistent problems.

You have to install the non-trial version as a "clean" installation on to an empty partition.
Back up all your important data first to another drive or to DVDs.
Applications will have to be re-installed once the non-trial version is up and running.

As in, keep all of my files and programs? Or will Windows 7 Ultimate clean my computer of everything? Because I hear that in order to save anything, I need to move it to an external hard drive. And if that's what I have to do, what's the difference between the Upgrade version of Windows and the System Builder of Windows if they both wipe my computer clean? If the only way to save anything is to move it to another storage space?

A:I've got Windows 7 Ultimate, the upgrade edition. Can I upgrade from Windows XP?

Yes there is no direct upgrade from XP to 7.  You need to do a clean install.  You can use WIndows Easy Transfer to simplify moving your documents and settings across.  Programs need to be re-installed in 7 (the upgrade advisor will tell you of any known compatibility problems).  It's quickest and easiest using an external HDD.  Guide here.  The installer is the same for all - the difference between the different versions is in the license.  The Upgrade version will not accept your product key if you try to install it on a computer that doesn't already have an OS.  The System Builder (OEM) version is tied to the machine it's installed on - the license does not allow for it to be transferred to a new PC.  The "full" retail version can be used for upgrades or installation on a new PC.

A:I am just wonder Does Windows 7 Ultimate Support both 32 bit - 64bit

Going from 32-bit Windows 7 to 64-bit Windows 7 requires a complete reinstall because the kernel is different. So, the same is true for going from 64-bit to 32-bit.

32-bit software is fully supported in 64-bit Windows 7.

Hey guys and girls,
I have had Win7 Ultimate 64-bit RTM installed for a couple of months now, but there is one issue that I have not been able to solve for this whole time.
When I first went to install Windows 7, I had to remove a 2GB stick of RAM in order for the installer to even start without blue screen-ing on me.
So I took the RAM out and managed to get 7 installed (yay!). However, when I tried to reinsert the RAM, I got the same BSOD that I would when trying to install 7 with the other 2GB in. I gave up after a couple of tries, and it has taken me this long to try to solve the issue.
I am pretty sure that my specs are 7 Ultimate x64 compatible? Because if not, that is most probably the source of the error.
Otherwise, could anyone lend a hand? It really hurts having 2GB of RAM lying around in a drawer being useless.
Thanks everyone in advance.

Added:
By the way, install was a clean install from XP SP3 32-bit. Formatted all my HDD's.

A:Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit doesn't support 4GB RAM?

This is a very common problem with Windows 7.

It's probably a BIOS issue. Or perhaps there's a Windows update for it. Try searching the forums as I'm sure this has been discussed many many times.

Hello

Well, i should be able to upgrade from vista ultimate x64 to 7 ultimate x64, without doing a clean install?

A:Cannot upgrade windows vista ultimate 64bit to windows 7 ultimate 64bit!!!

Run setup while in Windows and you can.

If you run Setup from within Windows:

You can upgrade Windows Vista or Windows 7 Build 7077 or later.
You cannot run x64 Setup on a system running an x86 build of Windows, or vice-versa.
You cannot upgrade Windows XP or any pre-7077 build of Windows 7 (unless you use the workaround I describe later in this post).
You can install Windows 7 on the same volume as an existing Windows version. (I describe the best way to accomplish this in #4.)
You cannot make any changes to the layout of a disk; you must use existing partitions, and Setup will not recognize unallocated space.
If you boot from the Windows 7 DVD:

You cannot upgrade an existing Windows version. Your only option is a custom install.
You can delete existing partitions, create new partitions, extend an existing disk partition to unallocated space, or designate a block of unallocated space as the setup location.
You can install Windows 7 on the same volume as an existing Windows version.

Yes, you can upgrade from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro. If you don't have the SP1 update installed in Windows 7 Ultimate, then you just may not be able to keep everything when upgrading to Windows 10. You can verify before starting the actual upgrade at step 15 below, and safely close Windows 10 Setup at this step to cancel the upgrade if wanted.

A:Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade with non-upgrade Ultimate license?

Hi,
You will need an upgrade key to initiate the ultimate download, but if you can manage to obtain an ultimate installation cd your serial should work, also if you use this winisoutils - Windows ISO Disc Image Utilities

you can change a windows install cd (if you have one) into a universal edition one, very handy.

to answer your question an upgrade key is not the same as a serial, the upgrade key is just to download the installation while the serial activates it, and a serial from one edition will not work with a different edition.

hope this helps

I am trying to find out if I, given my situation, should upgrade or not? Whether it will help me or hurt me.

Hardware: So I have a Dell Deskstop, a Studio XPS that is a few years old but is still pretty powerful and i've upgraded it overtime. I have a single 20 inch monitor without touch support. No tablet or laptop. I have an Droid 3 phone but MAY upgrade to windows phone 8 phone depending on the announcement.

Use: I play a lot of PC games, usually involving steam. I have a lot of music all loaded into itunes and streaming using spotify. I download a lot using Utorrent. I watch a ton of videos using VLC and Media Player Classic. And of course web browsing with Chrome and Waterfox.

Basically, I want to know if I should upgrade. I have read a lot about the pros and they seemed to be about the advantages for multiple devices, touch support etc etc....none of which effect me right now.

Will Windows 8 help me with the things that I do now or will it make things more annoying? Any info you could give me would be wonderful.

Thanks in Advance for the help.

A:Should I Upgrade from Windows 7 Ultimate?

Valve software relies on the open structure of windows and the internet to prosper their steam game store. Windows 8 seems to be the beginning of Microsoft trying to close the structure of Windows, could be a lot worse in Windows 9 and 10. If this trend happens, companies like Valve software are going to be up a creek, they can still sell their games (as apps) but then Microsoft will take a hefty cut.

We shall see my friend, we shall see...

All I did after the upgrade is download and install English (US) package to change interface language.

where should I begin? search microsoft for upgrade to windows 10?

I did the automatic upgrade from Win7 Ult. to Win10 Pro, no issues except for a couple of old programs but I've kept a Win7 Home computer for other needs.

But then I have kept a WinXP computer with 5.25" and 3.5" floppy drives [actually a combination drive] and a Zip250 drive for when a client needs data transferred to more modern computers. The issue with the older drives is having a BIOS that supports them.

I have a Dell XPS 410 Desktop with Windows XP Pro SP3. Specifications of the machine are: Windows XP Professional SP3, 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, 768MB nvidia 8800GTX video card, 500GB hard drive (2 x 250GB as RAID1)

I would like to know if I can upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate without doing clean install or dual boot. Is there an easier way to do this or do I have to do Clean Install.

Any experts out there who can provide some suggestion?

Thanks in advance

I have Windows 7 Pro installed, but recently purchased Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade edition. I would like to "upgrade" to Ultimate without loosing any of my data/programs/anything so I can use Ultimate's features.

When I try to put the disk in at boot, it tells me to start the install in the booted Windows 7 pro. But when I do this, it tells me to use Windows anytime upgrade!

I paid $219. I want it now. I don't want to buy another "simple" anytime upgrade serial. Help!

i want to upgrade windows 7 ultimate 32 bit to 64 bit for gaming coz the system requirements for the great gaming is only using 64 bit, but i can't solve it. i have already installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit ISO but after i clicked the setup.exe, the box appeared and it was written "the version of this files is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer system to see whether you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher." I have no choice but to post this. please answer ASAP. your answer will be very welcome

A:How to upgrade windows 7 ultimate 32 bit to 64 bit

You cannot upgrade from one bit version to another (32 bit to 64 bit or vice versa). A clean install is the only possibility.

Backup your personal files, wipe the hard disk empty, boot computer with 64 bit install media and install it, then reinstall all your software.

See this tutorial for instructions in creating a Windows install media from your ISO file: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool.

Hey guys:

I am currently running Windows 7 Pro. I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. I will do it right away if when I do it, Ultimate leaves all my personal software and files in tact from the Pro version.

I have the complete version of Windows Ultimate, not the upgrade version.

So what do you think?

Thanks

A:Can I upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate?

I think you're capable of doing the upgrade. Plug in the CD and see what options are present.

Hello,

I have a HP Pavilion g7, model 1219wm. I recently did a clean re-install with Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I cannot find a PCI driver.

This is what it says in the device status:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

I have used the Update Driver option, but it doesn't work. It gives me the message that Windows could not find the driver.

My hardware ids are given below:

Please please help

Thank you in advance

I have recently upgrade from win7 home premium to win7 ultimate. I upgrade due to my home premium running far to slow, it would take at least 20minutes to boot up and wouldn't open up programs when booted up. I reinstalled home premium and it ran fine for about a week then this issue arose again. I then have upgrade my OS to ultimate and it ran fine for a grand total of 1day, it is now running really slow and I can barely do anything on it what so ever. This issue is occurring on a Toshiba satellite c660-220 laptop. I have had Ubuntu Linux installed on this laptop and this issue didn't occur on that OS, so is it a hardware issue or a software issue? And what can I do to fix it?

A:windows 7 ultimate 64bit running far to slow.

You have a dual-core Intel Pentium T4500 processor clocked at 2.3GHz in a very entry level LT. It's going to be slow but not that slow. You should be able to tune it for 1 minute +/- startup times.

There are tons of threads here on how to do this, read them, it's worth your time.
