bezel not properly glued to screen - Lenovo S540-14IWL

Q: bezel not properly glued to screen - Lenovo S540-14IWL

So I got a new laptop, a Lenovo s540-14IWL. Everything is great about it, other than the fact that the bezel is not glued properly to the screen at the right and left edges.I had this problem on the original one I got and also on two replacements. I decided to keep it because the price was very good and I really like it. The other options were not nearly as good and as a programmer I need to have a computer all the time. I was wondering if someone could offer some help?I got 2 options:- Live with it.- Send it to the lab under warranty as it's only about a week old (Problem is I saw their work on my cousin's laptop and it wasn't good). Can it cause any further damage to the computer if I leave it like that. To the eye it's not as bad as it looks in the picture. One important note: If I hold it with my hands it will glue back and look perfect for a few minutes (When it was new it stayed for longer) until it goes back to its' original state. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read my post! Here are some pictures:When staring in front of the laptop:Right Side:Left Side:After touching it with my fingers for a few seconds:

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,I used my laptop for a couple of days and I couldn't get to make Lenovo performance mode (pressing Fn + Q to change fan speed) to work. I've seen this thread, but I don't want to risk installing wrong software. Anyone knows how to solve it without manually going to BIOS every time, and if that software is compatible with my laptop? Edit: I forgot to mention, whole software/drivers are up-to-date, both via Lenovo Vantage and via Windows Update (System version: Windows 10 Pro 1909 18363.476)

So I bought  a new s540 without an os. Installed Windows 10, ran automatic updates, installed other drivers manually etc...When I connect the laptop to an external monitor nothing happens - trying on different monitors and cables.I thought I had a damaged product so went back to the store for a replacement. A few days later I got the replacement - same exact problem. The sales representative said it is probbly a problem with the whole line. Is that so? I just returned it to get my money back. Is it a known problem? I see that I'm not the only one having this problem. I've been a Lenovo user for most of my life and would like to remain one. Can you please suggest a fix? I'm not going to buy another s540 / ideapad model until I can find a solution.  Thanks, Samuel

I purchased a new Ideapad S540-14IWL recently but couldn't find a way how to connect a secondary display via HDMI. I use Windows 10 Pro. So far I've tried the following:- using different monitors;- using different HDMI cables;- installing newer and older Intel VGA drivers;- going through the Windows 10 video troubleshooter;- switching off the laptop and/or the monitor and powering them in various sequences (as suggested in a few articles I found on the Internet);- tried to switch to the second display using Win+P, of course. No matter what, Windows is not able to detect a connected display (even after I manually push the 'Detect' button). The display itself finds no signal. Surprisingly, the Lenovo diagnostics utility couldn?t identify a problem after running both the Display and the Display Interface tests. The laptop is flashed with the latest BIOS. I read other Lenovo models have similar issued when AHCI mode is selected in the BIOS rather than RST. However, switching to RST comes with a warning that the controller change will result in all the data being erased, which I can't afford.  Any help on that issue will be appreciated.

Hi! I bought  Ideapad s540 14IWL with Nvidia mx250 without OS. I've installed Windows 10 from official msdn site and then I've been starting to install drivers from Lenovo site in order: Chipset -> Intel VGA - Nvidia. And when I had installed Nvidia driver the system failed in BSOD with error "driver_verifier_dma_violation". And the after any restarts system fails again. If I remove Nvidia drivers - system works fine (but ofcouse wihout mx250  ). Does anybody know how I can solve this problem?

Hello, Since two weeks my Lenovo Thinkpad screen flickers on the right side and on boot up or recover from stand by. This becomes pretty annoying and I have updated all the drivers and also upgrading to Windows 10 didn't work neither. The warranty was due June this year, so I don't know that if I have to repair it that it will cost money. But I think it's strange for a screen to be broken in one year and 3 months. If you perhaps know a solution for this or know how it will be handled by Lenovo if I send it away for repairs please tell me. Yours faithfully, Joost Kolkhuis Tanke

I'm from the Philippines and i have asked my grandma when they went vacation to the U.S to buy me a laptop (an indian friend of my told me items baught from the U.S is more quality & durable than locally in my country). My laptop is still under warranty however i inquired through Lenovo philippines facebook page and said the international warranty of this laptop is not covered in the Philippines. and I'f i ask them to repair it parts my vary and warranty will be voided? Is there anyway that Lenovo can help me out with this problem to maximize the warranty ?The reason being i just complained now because im about to go home to the Philippines as I work offshore, angola.Nothing i can do for the span of 6 months but to live with the annoying bezel problem. Any recommendation or any help to maximuze the warranty will highly be appreciated. please see image for your reference.

Hello, I recently purchased a Lenovo S340-14IWL Machine Type: 81N7. I have an SSD available with me. (SAMSUNG 2.5" 256GB SSD SATA3.0Gbps) Is it possible to install this SSD alongwith the existing 1TB HDD to my laptop and transfer the windows to the SSD without hampering the warranty. Also i need to know if I can add an 8GB RAM with the below details: Capacity:8GB Single Rank  |  Style:Crucial DDR4 CT8G4SFS824A is a 8GB single ranked DDR4 notebook module that operates at speeds up to 2400 MT/s and has a CL17 latency. It is an Unbuffered SODIMM . It conforms to the industry standard DDR4 SODIMM layout of 260 pins and is compatible with systems that take DDR4 2400MT/s SODIMM memory. Align the notch(es) on the module with the notch(es) in the slot, and then press the module down until the clips on the slot snap into place place. also please clarify whether these activities can be done by me or need to take to some service centers.

My pc is pretty clean and it shouldn't be slow, I'm on 86 GB used space and 53 GB free. This was in movie maker, and when I hit save the first time nothing happened and the app froze, had to force quit with task manager then start again, now that Save Movie File menu option won't go away.

It will if I restart, but why is this happening...? Very annoying.

Edit: Just did another full malware & virus scan and nothing came up. Any ideas? I have a feeling that storage space isn't the culprit. If you'd like a HJT log I'll post one.

Hello.I recently bought C340 14IWL I5 8265U with VGA onboard Intel Graphic 620.On the back of the device, I can see two slots to release the heat but only the right side is working. I have reviewed some documents from User Guides, Hardware Maintenance Manual and can see the cooling system with two fans.I also know some version with VGA NVIDIA and I wonder if only these versions have a cooling system with two fans? The reason that I ask this's because I often see fans run very fast and make noises. This is my first time using a laptop from Lenovo so I don't know if it's normal or not ? My previous laptop from Asus was rarely able to hear the noise from the fan.And one more thing. I bought this laptop for 20 days and use Conservation Mode. Is full charge capacity (in Lenovo Vantage/Battery) reliable ? 10 days ago I checked and found 45Wh/45Wh(Design). 3 days ago it suddenly reduced to 41/45Wh, then i turned off Conservation mode and fully charged and now it's increased to 42.9/45Wh. (With 10 Cycle count)Thank you

The video below show the inside of the C340 model without the discrete Nvidia graphics, and it does indeed have only a single, but larger, cooling fan than the two fan version.     C340 Fan Removalhttps://download.lenovo.com/lts/RCNW1860/FOF/RCNW1860-IdeapadC340IdeapadFlex_REM_FRU_09_Fan.mp4 More C340 parts removlal/repelacement videoshttps://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/HT508522 I cannot answer you battery questions, but in my experience lithium batteries last longer in conservation mode (lifespan).  Cheers,  Cheers,

I recently bought an Ideapad S540 (12GB Ram, Intel i7). The PC is unable to boot despite being fully charged. When pressing the power button, the keyboard and power button light up for 5 seconds, and then goes off. I've waited for it for 5 minutes and it doesn't start up. The only solution was to hold the power button down for 30 seconds, and then it starts up. I've tried with battery power and while plugged in, both suffer from this problem. After shutting down, if I press the keyboard, it will still light up and show the battery percentage despite not being plugged in. I had disabled 'Fast Boot' and put in various values for 'Timeout' in msconfig, but it didn't solve the problem. I had also tried to shut down via cmd. For some reason, the keyboard backlight is unable to be turned off. I tried disabling it via Vantage and pressing Fn+Space bar, but it's still on.

I recently purchased a Lenovo IDEAPAD 14" laptop S340-14IWL. I'm finding the display screen is extremely sensitive to viewing angle, in particular in the vertical axis and when watching streaming TV. In particular when watching video like NETFLIX the picture quality is very poor and difficult to watch. I beleive this laptop has a TN display and the poor video quality may be due to the quality of TN panel but not sure if this is a common issue with the S340. Any insights would be appreciated.

Also if any of you current s540 owners have any issues with baclight bleeding of keypad issues, please let me know - looking to purchase this asap. Much thanks!

Hello everyone There have been plenty of threads about poor wifi performance on Lenovo S540.  But this is a new story. It is not poor, it is unhealthily terrible. I purchased S540 in summer 2014 and yes, wifi was weak but tolerable. Around 1 month ago, without a notice and without any intervention from my side, it became unhealthily weak. I mean it, 1 meter from router is more or less fine (three bars out of five), 2 meters  - weak and unstable, 3 meters - it doesn't even see the network. No barriers between router and laptop, of course The problem is not with router. That's because I tried two different routers, two different ISPs (and iphone hotspot just in case)- same story in every instance. Also, other devices in my family - laptops, smartphones and tablets - work just fine with existing wifi network. The problem is not with specific wifi card. I replaced wifi card (Intel N 7260) with the new one (nb. and probably lost guarantee by that) but nothing changed at all. The problem is not with software. I have all latest drivers and BIOS, and I also tested the problem under Windows 10 and under Ubuntu liveUSB - absolutely same symptoms, 3 meters from router = no wifi networks seen. P.S. LAN internet works perfectly fine, problem is only with wifi. From the above testings I conclude that problem is with hardware, but not wifi card - is it possibe? I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas on how I should... A:iso LENOVO IdeaPad U530 touch front lcd BEZEL

It's been awhile since I semi rebuilt my u530 after the hinge failed.  I don't recall it having a seperate bezel at all, the digitizer goes edge to edge and the "bezel" is masked onto the back of the glass.  FWIW, without the digitizer, I used duct tape to hold the screen in and hardware store bought bolts to reattach the lid.  UGLY!  It's been a while and my memory might be foggy, I want to forget about that experience.  If you're rebuilding because of hinge attachment failure?  You should contact Lenovo, even out of warranty and see if you can't get them to cover it.  It's a well-known design flaw.  Good luck!

Hi Jkcp,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can verify your ODD bezel from the parts lookup page here to confirm the part number to order if 5B30N82326 is for you.
I tried using 80XH01QYIH and may give a different option for the bezel (5B30N86319).

Lenovo encompass shows availability maybe till May 6 2018 but you can also check with Medion and other service partners too listed here (shops and parts desk).

Hope this helps answer your query.

Thanks in advance!

A:Satellite Pro M35 - How to remove the screen bezel?

Hi

Well buddy, in my opinion you should not try to disassemble the notebook if you don?t have the necessary experience and don?t know how to do this!
You could damage other parts? you know?

You are stuck on the LCD mask?
As far as I know the LCD mask is covered by two screws which are hidden under the seals.
You will have to remove two LCD mask seals and then you could remove the two screws hidden under the mentioned seals.
Then you could put your fingers between the mask and the LCD screen in order to release the LCD mask plastic latches.

But note; be careful, don?t use any force!

I have a HP Pavilion DV4-1125nr laptop and I cracked the screen and need to change it but I can't seem to figure out on how to remove the bezel out of my screen so I can remove screen and get the model number from the back.  I removed screens before but they had screws on top of bezel covered by little rubber knobs and the dv4-1125nr doesn't have any of this and it looks like you have to remove the bezel using your hands but I can only pop out the top and the sides, the bottom doesn't pop out and I'm afraid to force it out in case I break it.  What am I misssing here?  Is there a trick to get it out?

http://h20574.www2.hp.com/?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN&lang=en&cc=US&hpappid=psml.From above url ( HP partner Services Media Library ), do the following;1. Select Laptops and Teblet PCs in "Product Category".2. Select HP Pavilion Notebook PCs in "Product Family".3. Select Pavilion dv4-1000 Entertainment Notebook PC series in "Product Series".4. Select either FRU Remove/Replace (AMD) or FRU Remove/Replace (Intel) based on your CPU type..5. It should bring up another window "HP Service Media Library" and then select Display Bezel ( Recessed ) to bring up the video and detailed procedure for you to open up the LCD Display Bezel..Have fun and keep this URL handy and you can use it for all your DIY works later.
