Q: Very unstable internet. Full imgur album and specs inside

I original posted this to reddit.com in /r/techsupport but soon realized that was fruitless. I am replacing all the links up here so anywhere you see 'here's a link' just ignore it and think I'm a dumbass

Imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/TSj0x#0
D-link stick: http://www.dlink.com/ca/en/home-solutions/connect/adapters/dwa-130-wireless-n-usb-adapter
Laptop: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-ca/prod...spx?path=6c390155f74f95f993fc777f863f2405en02 (not touchscreen)

My problem: My internet connection is not stable and I have tried everything. I stutter when playing games which allows my team to lose and I can't have a skype conversation because people cut out every 10-15 seconds.
Computer Specs: I don't have a great laptop, to put it blunt. Here is the link to it on future shop. It says windows 8, but I have windows 7 running on this.

What I've done: The wifi card in the laptop is terrible, it is the worst. So I went out and bought This . The first thing I tried was connecting both the original wifi on my laptop and the d-link stick to the wifi. It didn't help. So I used only the stick and it got a bit better, but ultimately it is still unusable. I have tried other things like deleting cookies and what not, but they're not the problem. Here is the link to the stick specs

The router: Here is where I think the problem lie. My router Seen here . Is positioned right here . Could the interference from the Tv signals be messing with the router. I find after 10ish, the internet improves significantly, although this is off peak hours so what do I know.

ISP: My isp is currently rogers. I have not attempted to contact them to try and sort out this issue.

Bonus troubleshooting: My little brother plays online games on the wii. While watching him play I noticed he was getting similar lag. I'm not saying the wii is a powerhouse capable of good online play, but it was identical to what I was experiencing.

If anyone can help me out and let me return to my games in peace I'll buy you a humble bundle or reddit gold or something.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a PC I built myself that is about 1 year old. Recently I just replaced the mother board with an ECS P4M800PRO-M. At first, it seemed to be working fine. I'm not sure what the issue is now... It will load and let me get into bios everytime, but most of the time, it will not load the windows xp screen and the HD LED goes out. I've checked all my connections and jumper settings - nada. It will boot, just a matter of how many times I reboot it...

Here are my full specs...

Brand: Self Built
Motherboard: ECS P4M800PRO-M
CPU: Intel Pentium D 840 3.2GHz
RAM: 2 X Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz
Graphics: Radeon x800xl (256mb AGP) - connecting DVI-HDMI cable TV
Master HD: Maxtor 200gb IDE
PSU: Ultra 500w V-Series

Built August 06, new Master HD in April 07, new motherboard 2 weeks ago.

Thanks all, let me know if you need any more specs or info!

yesterday I was browsing Orkut and clicked on a link that says:

In Portuguese: "Meu album completo est? nesse site: <http://www.freewebtown.com/fotos_orkut">
In English: "My complete album is on this site: <http://www.freewebtown.com/fotos_orkut">

An empty browser window appeared, and I realized I did something stupid.

Since then, my browser shows an error every 10 seconds, saying it's trying to connect to something. I managed to stop it by changing my Orkut password. But I can't acess some sites and browsing is extremely slow.

Can someone help me? Here's DDS log. Thanks a lot!!!

Okay well the problem is my computer keeps freezing while I play games, directx games to be in specific but i havnt played any non direct x games.

Games I've played NBA live 2005, War3, CS:S, i never seem to freeze playing CS:S so it could be something else.

Another thing that could be taken note as that when I turn on my computer, my comp will freeze when it tests the memory in bios. Like it won't even say 'xxx OK' it'll just freeze. Then I restart and then it'll do it, but this is only sometimes, and ussaully always happens after I freeze during gameplay and have to restart.

I've tried formatting, and it didn't work, I've also tried uninstalling my firewire card that I installed recently which I thought was causing the problem, didn't help either. So anyone got any clues? I ran memtest on 700mb of my 1gb ram and all seems okay.

I've attached my DXDiag if you want to take a look at my system specs.

A:My Comp is unstable please help details inside

Sounds like a hardware problem. Bad memory or motherboard. Do you have more than one stick of RAM? If so try running the computer with just one. Some motherboards are picky about which brand and type of RAM you use.

Current system which was built in 2004 problem I am having now is my PSU, I had a good 600watt PSU running before and it went dead and replaced it with a even older PSU, 380watt and it keeps the system up and running. When I try to run heavy applications, try to install games or what not, the system will just turn off, and continue to turn off and then other times it will stay on for a lot of time.

Ok well I'm having trouble finding the 98se cd used on my old computer (I need to reinstall it), and I was thinking after a recent small memory upgrade XP might be able to run slightly better. PIII 500-700mhz (can't remember I would check cpu-z on it but the computer has been rendered unbootable). 384mb of SDRAM. The requirements I found were:255mhz, 64mb from Paul Thurroits site.

Ok well I have a reinstallation cd which seems to function as almost a normal xp cd (doesn't have the repair option). Well I need to have the setup run off the cd drive on my 98 but I'm not sure how to get into the bios so I can run the cd-rom before drive A: So what I'm asking is how to how to install xp to my second hard drive. Then I would be able to get all my nessecery files off my other hard drive (the one with the 98)

A:Installing XP to an old computer-look inside for specs.

If you boot from the XP CD, you will be given the option to install it wherever you want.

If you have the floppy set as your first boot device and CD second, and there is nothing in your floppy drive, it will boot from the CD.

I've tried a couple of extensions for Chrome but none of 'em really worked for me. I've also Firefox installed just in case. Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance

Hello Everyone...

I am wanting to upgrade my antiquated Socket 7 motherboard with something that supports a faster processor, but am looking to keep things decently low priced. My board is maxed out now with a straight P200 processor, 128 meg of EDO RAM, 2.0 Gig HD, CDR and CD reader, DSL Internal Modem, Sound Card, Video Board, and that's about it I guess. I am running Windows 95 on the HD. I would like to keep the HD I have and maybe get a second with 10 gig or so. So my question is...what type of MB and processor can I get that will fit in my current system case? I have 3 ISA slots and 2 PCI, and would need something comparable. My case is for a Compaq Deskpro, if that helps. Let me know if you need dimensions of the MB, I will get them. Any help would be appreciated.

This problem has me at my wit's end so I thank you vigorously in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

First, the technical specs. My ISP is Road Runner through Time Warner with a Surfboard SB4100 cable modem. I have the above mentioned Belkin wireless router updated to the latest firmware. There are two computers that use the connection.

Toshiba Satellite A105-S4014 w/Windows XP SP 3 and an Intel (R) 3945ABG wireless card that is factory original.

HP Pavilion w/Windows Vista (hers is NOT having a problem so not as detailed here).

I have WPA+WPA2 PSK security enabled, channel is set on router and in my wireless settings to 11, protected mode is on, and all other settings are factory default except for things like time zone.

The problem is that I have intermittent bouts of no/low connectivity. Using an Ethernet cable during these periods results in connectivity being restored. This problem oftentimes manifests after my computer goes into screen saver mode. Disconnecting from the network and reconnecting fixes the problem. If I try to ping the router during one of these periods wirelessly it results in a time out. My wireless driver is current, power management is set to highest, and the computer is not allowed to turn the device off to save power.

I think that is all relevant information. If anything else is needed, let me know and I will provide it.

It just happened while I was making this post! Having my network connectio... Read more

Hi Tech Support Guy,

I need some advices for a VGA Card which will work at it's best for my specs:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93 Ghz
Motherboard: ASUS P5KPL-AM EPU (only has 1 PCI-e 16x)
Memory: Corsair Dual Chanel 2 Gb
PSU: Seasonic S12II 550Watt
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 22" Full HD LED

I definitely will stay with 1 VGA card for a while, as my mobo only has 1 PCI-e slot.
And most likely I won't OC, but maybe in the future I will, still not sure.

I was thinking Nvidia GTX460, GTX470 or ATI 6850, 6870
Will those cards work ok with my specs? any risk of bottleneck?
Or maybe you have some better choices? Please do suggest

Thank you all!

The only sure thing is an exact replacement.  Next best is to buy a screen known to have shipped with the same model system you have.
Notebook LCDs are not as standardized as other PC parts - you can easily find variances within the same model line where one system will take a specific screen and another will not.

Hey ya'all.

So I had an ISO of Windows 7 on my flash driver, which covered like 3,5 gb of its whole space.
I inserted the flash driver on my desk PC which uses Ubuntu 11.04, And I deleted the ISO file.
Then I inserted the flash driver into my netbook and there was that folder called TRASH1000 or something, which had the Windows 7 ISO inside, dunno if it was the real deal or some kept log file or smt, all I know is that I deleted that folder, and now the flash driver from 4gb free space ( 3.7 actually ) it says it only has 247 MB, meaning 3.5 GB is already covered by smt, but when I open it it is completely empty!

Any suggestions?

A:Solved: Flash Driver is full with nothing inside

Hah, well problem solved, I just right clicked and selected ''format'' and it worked!

Hello to all, this is my first entry to this forum hoping to get satisfactory and rapid response. The situation is the following I have this laptop Gateway MX6420 that got infected for AntivirusPro 2009, which was a Rogue infection hard to remove, of which I still believe I have remnants of it. This infection manifested in blinking desktop every 10-15 seconds, not running some windows applications, disabling networks, and not working Safe Mode properly leaving a black screen. In addition to the Gateway laptop, I use a desktop Emachines that is well protected with McAffee full protection, SpywareBlaster, and SpywareGuard, and haven't had manifested problems with malwares. Note: Since I didnt have Internet connections enabled at this phase, I had to download the MalwareBytes and transfer it to my usb flash memory drive. What did I do? After many attempts, I could solve it 1. I run MalwareBytes in Safe Mode without installing library updates. Anyway, it run and finally solved all my initial problems. Now I have wireless connection in the laptop. 2. Immediately after I eliminated through MalwareBytes, I wanted to protect the same utilities installed on my Emachines desktop with few changes. First I did install SpywareBlaster that protects from installing malware. Second, I installed Avast instead of my licensed McAffee, and the next step was to install was SpywareGuard. From here it started all the problems again, Avast warned me many times with its noisy alert that Spyware bro... Read more

hi, i have had help here before and seem to need it again. My problem is not with any pop-ups or malware it seems, but my computer is running VERY slow. It has only been in the past month or so that it has been running slow. Mainly it is Internet Explorer that is very slow. Other processes are slow, but not nearly as slow. Please let me know what other information will help.

I have an IBM T43 laptop with Windows XP Pro.
-Version 2002, Service Pack 2.
-Intel Pentium M Processor 2.00 GHz, 798 MHZ, 1.00 GB RAM (came with 512, I added a 512 stick myself). I have many programs on the computer, too many to list. (As an aside, Adobe Acrobat does not work anymore either and I cannot figure out how to remove it for the life of me. If I open a PDF with IE or Mozilla, it freezes both. Also, when opening a pdf with adobe, it appears in Arabic/computer language. Just on case this makes any difference.)

I have MacAfee antivirus and it has ben detecting a few viruses here lately. Most recently was today, it was an Exploit-MS06-014 Trojan running through explorer.exe.

Also, I have all the file logs available of my MacAfee scans, if needed. I will paste my most recent HiJackThis log.

I have been having various BSOD?s for months now. They are unpredictable and no one action causes them (That I am aware of).

I am running:
Vista x86 SP 2 (although the problem has occurred on SP 1)

On a custom built computer with:
M2N-SLI Deluxe MB
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
AMD Athalon X2 6400+
Recently replaced Turbolink 500w PS (The last PS fried, I was crashing before it did)
3 gigs of Mushkin RAM
1 Seagate and 2 WD HDD?s
Asus DVD drive
TSST DVD +RW drive
Aver Media M780 TV tuner (PCIe)

History/Steps taken:
The computer originally had a dual boot of Vista x86 and XP x86 and worked splendidly with no crashes for months. When it started to crash, and has continued to crash, I could not recall any recent hardware or software changes at the time. At the time, I restored the computer to an earlier state and it continued.

Recently I have:
Wiped the OS drive and completely reinstalled just Vista.
Flashed the BIOS and reset CMOS.
Ran the packaged RAM test with Vista (No problems. In the past I ram memtest 86+, and also had no problems)
Cleaned out and reinstalled older drivers for the Graphics card and tested for BSOD (All bsod?d)
Ran AusLogics diskdefrag multiple times.
Tested each stick of RAM in each slot on the MB (Each stick crashed in each slot)
Monitored temperature with Everest (Did not find anything abnormal, although it does not have RAM temp)
I have the side of the case open with the fans still plugged in (Couldn?t hurt... Read more

I'm an audio engineer doing work in Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium edition. I have an HP dv6883us with a 1.83gHz Core2Duo with 3GB of RAM.

My system has been rock solid for months, then out of nowhere I started getting BSOD crashes the past few days. These crashes always happen when using audio software. Now, I'm using the onboard sound(I do have other sound devices that are better, but for convenience when at work I just use onboard) which is a Realtek HD Audio device. I use a driver "wrapper" called ASIO4ALL(www.asio4all.com) which basically takes the WDM drivers and lets it act as an ASIO driver, which gives the best performance in audio software generally. This is a setup that thousands of people use, and I've used it with no issues for months now on this system, and on several other systems for years.

Anyways, the BSOD crashes happen randomly, but always while using audio software. Sometimes it happens when I hit the "Stop" button in the software, or whenever I perform another action. But pretty random.

Now, the ASIO4ALL just uses the onboard sound and it's drivers, and traditionally is as stable as the drivers you have. My Realtek drivers are just the ones that the computer update software itself(from HP) installed, and are the latest version. I ran the verifier.exe on the drivers, even though all audio and video drivers are already signed by Microsoft. No errors or any other signs of instability came up.

Here is my debug information:

A:Soundcard related BSOD crashes- full info inside

The analysis says that RTKVHDA.sys is the image where the error occurred.
The date stamp on it indicates it's from Oct 2007 - which is fairly old.

I'd suggest uninstalling your RealTek audio drivers from Control Panel...Programs and Features, then install a freshly downloaded copy of the latest version of the drivers for your system.

Although there's no evidence of the ASIO4ALL program causing problems, that'd be the next thing that I'd check if the RealTek update doesn't fix things.

I have shared one folder and in security I added "everyone" and given full permission (full control, write, etc.)

But still I cannot access some pdf files in the folder from another computer. I can open the folder but when I try to open the pdf file I'm getting some permission error. Then I went to the first computer I selected all pdf files >> right click >> properties >> I changed security and added everyone there. Then I could open the pdf files from another computer.

Now the problem is every time when I add some files in the shared folder. I have to select all the files inside and add permission even though the folder itself is given full permission. I wonder why is it so?

A:shared folder with full permission cannot access files inside

If the same users access this folder. Add each person individually with Full Control rather then the Everyone Group to the permissions of the folder. Or You can add the users to the Power Users Group. Then allow the Power Users Group to have Full control.

i recently got a new computer with WIN7 Home , 32 bits .

These vid formats dont work:

(one of the mkv files had the phrase "h.264-ac3" in its name, if its important for u)

rm files

one vid file played with video but didn't play with sound - it was .mpg

one file didnt play well - was .mpeg , had slow downs

AND the following photos didnt open -

GIF images, and by that i mean, those gif image who "move", which are like vids but without sound and the Windows image opener thingy used to open these normally on my other computer (who had Windows XP)
Gif images open usually with the internet explorer (even though its not my default browser) and there they are "played" ok (meaning they are displayed flawlessly)

One image is catagolized by my pc as "File". meaning the part that supposed to say GIF or JPEG says "file". it is a moving image which always asks me how to be opened, NEVER allowing me to tick the "always use this software to open this type of files". it is displayed well on the Internet explorer.

Just in case i will mention that i have IE9.

so my questions are what should i download as codecs, formats, whateverr? sound codecs, and vids, how about the k-lite ? i just dont want to clug my pc with codecs. so if u know what i need to DL to make the pics work on the windowd image displayer tool thingy and make all the vids play well, i will appreciate it.

Hi guys,
I've been struggling with internet issues on this netbook for quite a while now.

First off some information
Model is a Asus EEE pc, Model: 1015 px
Wireless Drivers are latest Asus gave me: Atheros Ar9825

I'll explain the problem now, I'm able to browse the internet without problem however every period of time (this varies drastically ranging from 30 seconds to 5 minutes) I won't be able to load up any webpages, stream videos/livestream ect. Even though I am perfectly connected to the wireless network and chat programs, or even online chatboxes will still work. It also isn't the fault of the network as it happens on my strong university network AND at home. It's been driving me crazy that i have to wait a minute or two every couple of time to continue browsing and furthermore it makes it impossible to watch any videostream.

I guess there are a couple of possible sources of the problem

A) something is wrong with the wireless drivers or it's settings
B) something is wrong with the wireless card itself
C) Something is wrong with the settings or the way I connect to the wireless networks.

Using a lan connection works just fine.

If you need any more information don't hesitate to ask!

Kind regards,

I recently built a new PC, cannibalizing the old one for some parts in the process. Once completed and set up the internet had seemed fine, though I was busy installing everything so it's possible I just didn't notice at first. Since completion my internet connection has gone from previously 100% speedy to a sort off, stuttering lag. The connection itself remains on, there's no indication of losing connection to the actual internet, but sometimes it feels like I have.

It's particularly noticeable when directing to a new webpage. It now seems to stutter; taking a few seconds to register that I've redirected it, a few seconds of white screen, and then slowly everything loads in, with even thumbnail images loading choppily (it sorta reminds me of how things used to load on a modem a little bit at a time). This occurs in all browsers I've tried, including Steam.

Steam will regularly lose connection as well, which never happened previously except when it's servers were down.

I also work from home using LogMeIn.com which has not been able to establish a connection to my work pc - it can connect to the network, activate the encryption, but fails with the error "your connection to the remote computer has been lost."

Streaming sites like youtube, twitch and livestream lag at first loadup, like everything else, but the videos stream perfectly fine with no hiccups.

When running windows network diagnostics the troubleshooting is unable t... Read more

i was wondering for those have have an internet with download speed of about 250 kb per sec is there a way to force skype to use it all i mean i can watch hd videos on youtube and cant have a stupid straight video chat on skype i dont use my webcam but i still cant get even pixelated video without it breaking and lagging and eventually dropping, its like download for example, downloading with the browser can be slow but if i use internet download manager, it takes full control of internet speed, full access and leaves nothing to the other programs , can that be done with skype?

A:Solved: is there anyway to give skype full access to internet with full speed

Youtube buffers video, a live chat isn't buffered.

If your internet speed is 256kb/s you need faster internet service.

See here for more info on internet connection speeds and how to see how much bandwidth Skype is using: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1417/how-much-bandwidth-does-skype-need
