Ideapad U310 Numberic Keyboard Not Working

Q: Ideapad U310 Numberic Keyboard Not Working

Just wonder if any one you encountered the same issue? I am using Win10. Only 5 and 6 are working, the rest of the numbers failed. I have read a post regarding the same issue - https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-U-and-S-Series-Notebooks/ideapad-U310-keyboard-problem-numericwi... I have already tried with external keyboards and it works perfectly. I suspect it would be the software or the driver. If you know the solutions, please share.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I would try plugging in a USB keyboard.  If that works without problems then I would suspect the laptop's keyboard is at fault.

Hi all,I've been having some sound issues with my Ideapad U310 for a while now, and any help would be appreciated. Initially, no sound came out of the speakers, but if I plugged heaphones into the audio jack I could still hear sound through the headphones. Unfortunately, now there is no sound from either the speakers or the headphones. To address this, I've tried disabling sound enhancements through playback devices. I've tried installing the latest drivers for Intel Display Audio and Conexant Smart Audio HD. I've also attempted deleting these drivers (both together, then one at a time) and then installing manually/letting Windows install them. Unfortunately the nearest factory reset goes back to a time when the sound was not working. None of this appears to work. I'm wondering it whether it could be a hardware issue, since the USB drive next to the audio jack does not work either and what with the headphones initially still working. I'm running Windows 10, 64 bit. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

A:Ideapad U310 factory reset

Hi kimuh72 ,

Welcome to the Community.

Keep your Serial number confidential.
Did you clean install windows reformatting the entire harddrive before or just an in place install?
Did you manage to create a recovery media before?

The factory image resides on a hidden partion on the harddrive and can only be restored on the depot facility.

No harm on trying if it is still working right .
Turning off your pc , then press the Novo key (page 28) ,
System recovery on the menu

You may order your Recovery media set by calling support
Check your warranty coverage specially if the harddrive broke for repair .
Else,  you can download windows
OEM product key would be the challenge , you can try using tools to extract it if needed.
For the drivers needed , its all free for download.

Hope this post helped you and gave you idea to proceed.
Just reply back and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

I have a Levovo Ideapad U310, PN 59351642, 13.3" Ultrabook. When the power button is pressed, I can hear the CPU fan was on but there was nothing on the screen. I verified that the disk is working. I can attach the disk to my external drive and it is working file. I suspect that the mother board is bad. But I need to confirm this before ordering a mother board replacement. There are other components such as the LCD screen or the CPU itself might be bad. When I turned on the power, I tried to enter the BIOS set up utility by pressing Fn-F2 but there was still nothing on the screen and there was no sounds or beeps. I have tried the "onekey rescue" but this also did not work. Are there any other tests that I can perform to be certain that the mother board is bad and all other components are still okay? Any helps / suggestions are greatly appreciated. Ken

A:Ideapad U310 Motherboard Problems

Same here. Mobo is faulty. Symptoms are- press power and caps lock flashes once- front battery light is on and funtions normally (flashing amber for charging, white for charged)- front power light is white, as normal- power on button is on, as normal- nothing on screen, no backlight, completely black My part number ends with a 7, meaning i5 CPU - so it's not a CPU specific issue but a common issue between models, meaning motherboard or something on the board like the GPU.

Hey everyone, I got a new ideapad U310 this weekend. I'm very happy with it, accept for the fan. It seems to go fast for no reason. I found some old topics on this forum, one with a bios update, but it does not seem to work anymore on the current bios version unfortunately. Can anyody please help me? The fan noise is very annoying and after 2 days of working with the ideapad I rather have it turned off to get rid of the noise than continue working on it.

Hi All, My Lenovo U310 Ideapad Has been Having speaker problems, The Headphones are working fine but the Inbuilt speakers that are Awefully situated inbetween the hinge and the base of the Screen aren't working. First i thought that this was a issue with the headphone jack assembly that might have cut off the internal speaker circuit due to improper removal of the headphone jack but thats not true because I noticed that Its an Issue with the angle I keep my Screen's tilt. On moving the screen to any angle above 90 or 100 degrees the speakers get cut of and are activated once its below 80 degrees. I am a bit worried any words on that????? regards, raisedadead. THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE!!!

Hello, I have had a U310 Touch for over three years now and I have recently discovered that after the upgrade to Windows 10 the BIOS is now nonexistant. When I run the command prompt to identify the BIOS it is blank where it should show which version I have. When pressing the NOVO button I receive the option screen to boot to BIOS or Boot Management screen but no matter what option I select the OS boots regularly. Is there any known solutions for this. When searching the drivers and downloads section with the computer in question no BIOS files appear. Thanks

A:DISPLAY PROBLEM Ideapad U310 Touch

Hi DILEMMA123,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As I understand that you are facing issues with your Ideapad U310 touch display, however when you power on the unit there is power but  no display and the screen remains black.

Here are the troubleshooting steps that you may try
Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help. - Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it up again. - If this will not work, do test the AC adapter if it's working properly. Remove the battery and power the laptop with just the AC adapter connected and see if it will boot up or not. do also try a different AC adapter that has the same voltage and see if it will work or not. - Proceed with reseating the RAM's if trying a different AC adapter will not work, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly. - If it will still not work, connect an external monitor and see if you'll get any display from it. If there's a display on the external monitor that could mean that the problem is the built in display.  - But if there's still no display on the external monitor that means the problem lies in the motherboard.
In addition, here are further service centers that you can also check
I hope the above information helps.

Hello Lenovo,I'm a business management student from India.I purchased Lenovo Ideapad U310 Touch model this May from the US (through Amazon) and have been using it without any issues till the last month. Last month I noticed that the hinge had developed tension and there was additional pressure on the lid or the screen area while closing. I thought it would be a routine issue and took it to my college's hardware repair center, but they suggested I handle the issue via Lenovo Support as it required opening the laptop. When I checked Lenovo support through customer care (India), I was told that the U series is not covered by International warranty. But I checked if the Lenovo service center would still have a look at the issue, to which I was told that it would be chargeable. I thought it was fair enough and took the laptop to the service center in Jamshedpur this afternoon. To my utter disappointment, the technician was unable to open up the area near the screen (where the problem was supposedly), but he also got the screen cracked while trying to. Now I'm left with a laptop that cannot be used as even though the screen display is intact, the touch sensors detect screen touch near the cracked area and keep the cursor rooted to that point. Also, the issue with the hinge could also not be fixed. All to add to the woes, I will have to manage a few days (don't know how many) without a laptop and also shell out the expense from my pocket! Now my question is, will the screen for Ideapad... Hello, I recently installed a new SSD in my U310 laptop and put Windows 10 on it. Everything was working fine until I ran the Bios update found on Lenovo's website located here. After the update installed without any error messages, the machine rebooted and I was left looking at the boot menu. I selected the ssd and the screen went blank for 15 seconds or so and then the boot menu appeared again. I've restarted the machine several times, tried booting from usb, and even tried putting the old hard drive back in but I just keep getting the blank screen and then back to the boot menu. Nothings working. When the computer first starts it doesn't show a lenovo logo or any text. Because of this it seems that I'm unable to get into the bios too. What do I do here? Hi TC22 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can consider LCD panel replacement first since performance and functions are ok.
This can be considered specially if connecting to an external monitor shows normal.

Using the part number to search for parts from the parts looks up page for pricing and availability.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hello everyone, I just bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P (the non-SLI model), and I've noticed some weird behavior with the keyboard. It does work - like in BIOS, the FN+F1,F2, etc. combinations, and in DOS (before I installed Windows 8.1). But after installing Windows 8.1 the keyboard has stopped working. It still works in BIOS, which sort of leads me to believe that it's a software/driver issue.  Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

A:IdeaPad Y510P Keyboard not working

hi msimionescu,

Welcome to the Forums.

If the keyboard is working fine on the login screen and then suddenly stops functioning when you get to the desktop / metro screen then the problem might be with the Filter Keys - similar to this thread.

Try to turn off Filter Keys by going to Control Panel > Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center > Make the keyboard easier to use > uncheck Turn on Filter Keys then hit apply.

If same problem, you may want to consider doing a  Refresh / Reset.

Now the keyboard is not working as it should. As far as I can tell, the only buttons that are working are I, enter, tab, and the space bar. I've tried the on-screen keyboard and plugged in an external keyboard, and it is exactly the same. Restarting does not help. I cannot log in to check the drivers, etc. There has been nothing spilt on it, nothing downloaded to it - no variables at all, as far as I know.  Any advice?!  Thanks!

I have had my laptop for a few months now. A yesterday I turned on my laptop and the physical keyboard and mousepad were not working. I have updated Windows, no luck. I have updated all drivers, through Lenovo and other driver updating software, no luck. I have powered down, hard started etc. everything and no luck.I have even uninstalled and deleted the drivers, still no luck. When I boot to BIOS the trackpad and keyboard work fine, so this is clearly a software issue with Windows 10. If anyone else has experienced this or has any insight please please come to my rescue!  I really need the computer as I am currently doing my thesis and my panel defense is in a few weeks, and everything is done online, so this is a huge issue for me! Thank you in advance for anything you can offer!

After updating to windows 10 I noticed that the keyboard backlit didn't turn on no matter if I was pressing FN+Space bar. After several months of trying to solve this problem I came in contact with Microsoft tech support and I was told that my system doesn't seem to be compatibe with Windows 10 and I should downgrade back to Windows 8 in order to solve this problem. After doing that and installing many updates and drivers it still doesn't work. It would be greatly appreciated if someone can help.

Hi, the latptop is only about 2.5 months old now... 3 weeks ago randomly the keyboard's keys on the laptop itself stopped working. No clue why, Ive checked drivers, did a reboot, tried safe mode, etc... It's only on the laptop itself. The keys that work are tyhg caps lock num lock and maybe a couple others... Ive never spilled anything on the laptop nor have I ever dropped it. I was in love with this laptop for the price I paid for it at Best Buy until the keyboard stopped working on it... It just randomly happened and I'm not sure why. The keys don't appear to stick or anything like that... (normal keystrokes just nothing happens in result of clicking them) I am using a keyboard plugged into it right now... I really need to get this fixed and I'm very upset at the fact it happened just 2 months after the purchase... So that cancels out my bestbuy 1 month warranty right there. I really can't deal with this much longer considering the fact that I was planning to use this laptop for my work.. If I can't get a simple easy fix I will have to find something new somewhere else... sorry to say. Praying for an easy solution/fix.

This laptop is about 5 months old. While I was browsing the web suddenly the keyboard isn't working. Because of that, i tried to restart my computer. And for some reason, a Novo Button Menu showed up. I tried to press enter (because it is already highlighted on Normal Startup) and it wont. Then I remembered that my keyboard isn't working! I don't know what to do. I tried to press the power button to shut it off but nothing happened. Please help me! This is the first time i have problems in this pc. I don't know what to do..

On my Ideapad 320, the entire keyboard stopped working except some function keys at the top (brightness, volume, etc). An external keyboard works fine. I've tried suggestions on other posts about this, such as updating/uninstalling the keyboard driver, resetting BIOS/UEFI settings to default, enabling and disabling filter and sticky keys, and i've reset my computer more times than i can count. Nothing has worked. Sometimes, the Caps Lock light on the keyboard will turn on, and will occasionally turn off/on when i press the button a bunch (usually with a delay before it'll respond) The problem only started after i downloaded the game Overwatch today, but i tried uninstalling it to see if that'd help and it did nothing. I didn't spill anything on it, drop it, or even get crumbs in the keys. I've only had this laptop for almost 7 months. I'm at my wits end and can't find any other possible solutions to try. Please help.
