Preferred Solution: Is this a good computer case?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Is this a good computer case?

Looks like it might be a little tricky to upgrade. Otherwise a fine looking case.

I've been shopping for a case to build my system around. This one is found at CompUSA and has a 300w PS though not a name brand. I did some digging on the web and actually found a review of this case. I was wondering what some of you guys think of its specs

Case Review

Maybe some of you who have built systems would know if this type of case would make a decent build or not. I want to go with an Athlon XP1500 m/b in it. I don't know if I should buy my own PS to put in it or use the one it comes with, its a brand called Power-Win.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX270. When I press the power button, the power button light turns amber, I hear some fans spinning, and the CD drive spinning. However, it never gets to the boot screen (or any screen). If I open the case and press the power button, however, the power button turns green and the computer works fine (loads all the way up and functions like normal). If I close the case after it has started, it continues to run fine. I'm guessing / hoping it's not the mother board or power supply that has directly gone bad... but maybe there is a connection or something? that changes from when it's closed to when it's open. I've heard of something like... the motherboard is shorting out by touching the case... but I'm not really sure where to look for that / how. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hello
I've had this case for a while now OVERCLOCKED AMD BULLDOZER 4.0GHZ ATI HD 6450 1TB FAST GAMING COMPUTER PC
and have been thinking about whether the fans are in a good position.

I have purchased http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ls_o00_s00_i00 - and they are both positioned on the side (where the led fans on the link are) as intake fans. Though it isnt shown on the link, the side fans actually have a mesh like grill over them.

There is also a front intake, rear exhaust and also the psu at the rear top. Though i havent actually checked the sizes of those fans.

Is this is a good setup? I've no clue to positive/negative airflow so any help would be ace!

A:Good fan setup for this case?

Welcome to Vista Forums

Sorry it's been a while getting back to you.

My opinion (and others might agree/disagree with me on this) is that the airflow through the case should be balanced so that the air pushed into the case by the intake fans equals that forced out by the exhaust ones. Generally speaking, intake fans are mounted on the front and/or side and exhaust fans are mounted at the rear and on top.

I'm looking for a good case to start modding on, I'm not planning on going outrageous with the mods but I wanted to add about 8-9 fans and do some designs on the sidepanel. Some of my friends who do case modding recommend this case but the top vent I don't like very much, although it's not a very big con.

Also, for the side panel, do I have to sand down the inside to start cutting into it or can it be cut without damaging? I can't really tell from pictures and I've never seen this case for myself.

-edit-

Does anyone know where to get the sound foam for inside a case that isn't very expensive? Since these fans will cause a lot of a noise I want to dampen it with the foam.

Hi,
I'm a new member of this community and need a little help.

About a week ago I got a virus are some spyware on my computer and foolishly downloaded and installed Stopzilla. I found out about mid-week that stopzilla itself malware and since have been battling it trying to remove it from my computer. I've gotten a good portion of it [I think] using Hijack this, AVG and my other anti-malware programs that I trust and had on my computer before the incident.
A number of is3 and SZ dll.s were deleted and I lost Internet connection for about a 15 to 16 hours and finally got it back up finding and deleting a certain is3 dll.
However, it seems that it was at a loss.
Half of the games that I played and ran very well [BF2 and Cod4] are now unplayable and I cannot access the Steam Network any longer. This is not videocard issue because games like Company of Heroes and World of Warcraft are running perfectly.
I'm running out of options and will be reinstalling XP somewhere in this or the coming week.A Stopzilla service is still running, only find one function with Hijack this that keeps coming back every time I delete it.

I'm wondering if DSRM could somehow restore my PC back to the way it was before this all happened.

Please tell me if this is a bad idea.

Good thing we have FBI and Gates on case

Alan T. Saracevic Sunday, August 31, 2003

The FBI arrested an 18-year-old in Minnesota this week for being a "key player" in the Blaster worm fiasco, which infected more than 500,000 computers this month.

How can the FBI stand there with a straight face and pat itself on the back for busting this loser? In reality, agents caught an extremely uninspired script-kid wannabe who allegedly copied and renamed the original Blaster code. And they did it by acting on a tip that turned the youngster over like a pancake. And it took 'em 10 days to do that!

As U.S. Attorney John McKay, who is taking credit for this sleuthing coup, put it: "I find it difficult sometimes to click the on button."

Best part is they put this 6-foot-4-inch, 320-pound fellow under home detention. From what I can tell, doesn't sound like young Jeffrey Lee Parson got out much in the first place.

$ $ $

Oh, wait. Even better than that was the actual complaint filed electronically by federal prosecutors Friday. It wasn't very legible, because the super cybersleuths who chased down this menace to society had scanned the legal document sideways. The PDF files that folks were trying to read on this matter showed only half of each page, laid out vertically across the horizontal format.

Hey,

I have recently begun the research phase of building a computer for the first time and have been concentrating on the first piece of hardware that I will need, the case. Needless to say I am a bit overwhelmed. Never knew so many bands or types of cases existed lol. Anyway I thought Iíd post here with the type of case I *think* I want to get though being new at this there are some aspects which I am sure to be unaware of.

Basically I want a case that is quiet, has a good sized power supply (if it includes one), is VERY easy to work with when it comes to actually installing all my other hardware, and has a high level of over all quality in its construction. Since I am really just researching at the moment price does not matter.

To sum it up I guess the only thing that I donít care about is a fancy look though if the best case for the description above does a fancy look I wouldnít argue.

Any advise on what case would be good for me would be greatly appreciated. (any advice from a specific case model to general advice when looking for a case) Thanks

Well, it just came to mind that a boot disk for my computer is definitely within my financial reach but I do not know the specifics about boot disks. Should I make one just in case something were to happen to my computer? What good is a boot disk anyway? Also, does it matter if I use a CD-R or a floppy for the boot disk? Hi, folks.

Can anyone recommend a forum that I can go to for advice about custom built PCs?

I am looking to build (or have built for me) a new desktop for work. I mostly use Adobe Creative Suite for...
print designweb site content creationvideo editingetc
I'm not a gamer, but I still have a copy of Flight Simulator X & rFactor 2 that I might install again.

My ideal system will be something like this:
2 or 3 monitors (very high resolution)2 NVIDIA GPUsa lot of RAMa SSD to boot off ofat least 1 TB of onboard storage space (I'm backing up to WD Passports)USB 3

Thank you!

A:Good place to get advice on mobo, case, etc.?

Our sister/brother site PC Help Forum has a lot of knowledgeable people and some of them/us are here too.
Some advice for a start, Since you already set what you need computer for, set the budget too, at least within some boundaries and be prepared to hear a lot of Intel vs. AMD and Nvidia vs. AMD arguments.
I do some graphics and video editing so here some of my experience:
CPU, more cores vs. CPU "power". Like, AMD FX8350 vs, Intel I7
As much and as fast RAM you can cram in the MB.
Speaking of MB, a quality MB with good cooling and power section durability.
Don't really need two video cards if you are not heavy gamer. one good one should suffice in your case. There are also some (expensive) video cards dedicated to graphic/ video work.
Do not skimp on a power supply, it will be called to do a lot of work. A good make would be preferable to a lot of declared Watts.
A large, properly ventilated case is preferably to fancy ones.
Consider a good CPU cooler, preferably water cooling, CPU coolers supplied with processor are barely adequate for ordinary work let alone for heavy use hour after hour you will probably do in the warm climate.
SSD, as large as you can/want to get, larger, 500GB or more are faster and more reliable than smaller ones. Video and to some extent graphic programs do a lot of work with disks even with large amount of RAM so it can speed up operations considerably.

I purchased Dk Grey "K&H" Bumper and Trim paint from the local auto shop for about $12aus, cleaned the beast with Metho, sprayed away, and it looks Brand new.

Looked so good I did my case as well, all from the one aerosol can.

Hope this helps someone.

P.S Don't spray it in an enclosed area, unless you:dead: like that sort of thing - seen BLUE VELVET anyone ???

A:Found good paint 4 hard plastic ie case, monitor...

how much is it?. when i turn 18 i might get some. one question though.... how did you spray your monitor without getting it in the vent holes?.

Hi Guys,

My computer's case/tower doesn't have an more cages for a new HDD, so I was thinking of this solution. I take one of those DIY HDD Enclosures for 3.5 Sata HDDs, but basically just leave it without the connectors and backpanel (where the SATA and power are converted to USB and AC inputs/outputs).

I then just plugin the SATA and DC Power from the PSU directly and secure the enclosure to the bottom of my case using some adhesive.

Would this be a good idea? I don't like having an external drive, and using a USB 2.0 is a bit slower than using SATA direct. Let's not even talk about the convenience of having one less AC Adapter to think about.

Would this be a viable option? I got the idea from one of my friends who just tapes his SDD to the inside of his case. Given that mine is NOT an SDD, I thought it would need a cage/enclosure to keep it stable.

Any Feedback?

A:Using DIY HDD Enclosure w/o AC/USB inside Case as extra cage.. good idea?

Check the drive cage that is already in the computer.
You may be able to temporarily remove the drive that is in there
and flip your a other drive over and mount it to the bottom of the cage.
Then reinstall the first drive.
Drives usually have mounting holes on the side and the bottom

Hello,
I am new to the forum, but not new to computing. I recently started having problems with this Vista Home Premium box not being able to resolve DNS names for only computers on my home network (all others XP boxes or Windows Server 2003). It can ping the IP addresses of the local boxes. It doesn't have a problem connecting to the internet. But this is a big problem when it comes to sharing files within my local network.

I have disabled Windows Firewall and McAfee Firewall and Services to try and diagnose the problem.

I have been googling this for a couple of days looking for ideas, but I have none. I have validated that DNS is running. NETBios over DHCP is enabled. Subnet mask is 255.255.255. DHCP and DNS server IP is correct.

Anything that anyone could point me to try? I am out of ideas.

A:Ping on Workgroup Computer Names Bad / IP Addresses Good / Internet Good

Unless you've got a DNS server running at home, it's rather unlikely that DNS is being used to resolve names of your home computers when pinging by name. Instead, the machine does a broadcast (on the local segment) to the effect of "if you're called XYZ, please get back to me and tell me your IP address".

If that's not working for you, my first inclination would be to suspect firewalls on the other machines - not necessarily on the machine exhibiting symptoms. Try disabling and even uninstalling (3rd-party) firewalls while you're troubleshooting, and also test what happens when all machines are booted to [safe mode + net].

Hey,

I have about a 5 year old computer i will tell you the specs.

MSI (VIA) MS-6309 v2.0 - Motherboard
512MB PC133 SDRAM
850Mhz Intel Celeron - now overclocked to 1Ghz
40GB Western Digital 5400rpm HDD(now slave) - now with a second 7200 40GB as master
it came with a (tornado?) video card but i now upgraded to a NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 which is a 256MB AGP 8x card.

I got it because it was at a VERY good price and it out of the packet but my friend builds computers and he got the wrong gfx card so he sold this one to me cheap... my computer is an AGP 4x. I understand i cant upgrade that unless i get a new motherboard. I have drivers that microsoft installed by itself (Nvidia GeForce FX5200 Microsoft Corporation) is it worth going to the nvidia website and upgrading to their drivers? my computer is really old and slow and i want to get the best performance out of this card... I dont think i can run games like Need For Speed Underground 2 can i? because i have a slow processor? i tried to play Halo Trial downloaded from microsoft but it went to the loading screen at the start but then just shut down before it got to the menu.

My point is... what can i do to get maximum performance out of this card but without increasing the startup items too much etc

Thankyou

Looking for suggestions for a cheap case (cheaper the better).

Must have:
front and back 120mm fan spots (doesn't need to come with fan)
at least 5x 5.25" external bays
at least 1x 3.5" external bay
Fits ATX spec

On a budget, so the cheaper the better. I'm just replacing the case, so it doesn't need to have anything in it (PSU, fans, etc), but must be able to put them there obviously. I don't have brand preferences. Name as many as you can, since it might be a problem getting them where I am...

A:Looking for a computer case

I found this as the cheapest with all the features you want, except it has an 80mm front fan and a 120mm rear fan. If you really need that 120mm front fan, this has it for about $7 more.

Hey everyone! It's jsut a quick post, but I recently finished a brand new computer build, but I am worried my case doesn't supply enough cooling, but also don't like the nosie it produces during gaming, so I am wondering if anyone knows of any good cases under £50/$60. I have looked at the powercool dominator and am wondering if it will be enough (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Powercool-D...9?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1362519059&sr=1-109).

My build is as follows:
- AMD 8350 CPU with stock heat sink/fan
- Gigabyte 7950 triple fan graphics card
- 16GB RAM
- SSD & Hard Drive (not performance, but more energy saving)
- CIT basic case modded with an additional fan on the side
- ASUS M5A99X Motherboard
- 880w PSU

Thank you for any advice! It will need to have high cooling abilities, but also quite quiet!

A:Computer case for $60?

- Noise from case is 95% the fault of the fans. More expensive cases provide quieter fans, but you're paying a lot more to start with anyway. Plus, you'll have to provide your own additional fans in most cases (pun not intended) anyway.
- PSU fan could be loud..?
- Cooling performance is a combination of how neat your build is (cables etc), the amount of components, the type of cooling on your devices, fans used, and airflow provided by case. This is a lot of variables, so it can be hard.
- The case you linked is a budget case. Don't expect miracles.

- My suggestion - stick with what you have, tweak the fan speeds a bit.

Hello everyone, I'm looking to buy a new computer case tomorrow for my PC because I'm getting worried by all the clutter. Everything is too close for comfort. Lol. Now I've heard that the most "scary", or worrisome, thing is taking out the mobo itself because of the static and all. Um, I'm in need of some Windows 7 Jedi guidance from you guys. Tell me what you guys need so I can post my specs so you can help me out further. Thanks.

A:Computer Case help?

If you are worried about the static when you buy/order your new case pick up a 2-5 dollar static wristband. they connect to your wrist then ground to the pc

Hi,

I have the following components in my PC:

GT 520 gpu
Intel i5 661 CPU
Gigabyte H55m-D2H motherboard (this is a small one, I believe it's micro ATX)
Two sticks of 4GB of RAM
ESI [email protected] audio card

I'm gonna stick with this build for a while (in fact, I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon - it runs great).

My case is big and makes a lot of noise (the fan is old...). I need a new one, and I wonder what compact cases are available for my setup. As you can see above, I do not use a gaming GPU, so I can probably make do with a thin case. The audio card isn't exactly tiny, though.

I'd appreciate any recommendations!

Thanks.

I have a A7N8XE-Deluxe Mobo, and I would like to get a new case for it with more fans and better airflow since I overclocked the CPU in it. I have found several ATX cases, but the back doesn't match what mine does currently. How do I get the right case with access to all the ports in the back, like my four USB and two Ethernet ports. The cases I have looked at don't have spaces for those. Do I just rip out the whole back part of the case or is there a way to find the case I need that will provide access to all my ports on the back? Thanks for help in advance.
