Hey all!I bought a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK Laptop (touch version) exactly a month ago through a seller, since I live in Pakistan & as far I know Lenovo doesn't officially function here. Other details: Windows 10; core i7; 16gb; 512gb memory. About a week ago i clicked on the wrong link and got a terrible virus because of which i had to reformat my hard drive by reloading my Windows 10 (through that full/all disk reset option). What that resulted in was a simple windows 10 (without the preloaded software which I kinda want back), and a heck of a lot of problems. Firstly, is there any way to get back that preloaded software? I've tried searching everywhere but can't really find it; found the nvidia and reltek stuff but that's it. Secondly, the black screen of death; this was something that happened to me the very first time i opened the laptop, and the second time after i reloaded it. It hasn't happened since, but was wondering if there's a way to fix without physically doing anything to the laptop. Thirdly, ever since I've reloaded windows, the on-screen indicators for caps lock and num lock do not show up, and I really want those because i'm still adjusting to this keyboard. I've tried looking for it here on the forum, but all the instructions are for windows 7 or maybe 8, nothing for windows 10 (the instructions for windows 7 can't apply to windows 10 because the options aren't the same). ALSO, the on screen indicator for when i turn off the trackpad also isn't showing up. Fourthly (yes this is a long list i'm so sorry for making you read all this), ever since I've reloaded, the speakers occasionally/regularly make a loud pop or tsk sound whenever i click something or i'm about to start an audio/video. I have tried installing the latest audio drivers by going to the support site, but for some reason it doesn't work. And i have tried installing multiple times, it still won't go away. Everytime i scan, it tells me to upgrade to version 10, despite my having done so multiple times -_- Fifthly (ha!) the notifications banners that show up on the side aren't showing up properly. Nothign shows up, with a exception of a really thin, black, cursor like line at the right border of where the photo/app icon is supposed to be within the banner area. If i have to click something in the area of the notification banner, i can't do so until it goes away. Sixthly, fn+f5, which is supposed to be airplane mode, only worked the very first time i opened this laptop, and has not worked since, not even after the reload. And lastly, spellcheck doesn't work in my firefox, despite my turning on spellcheck in both firefox settings and windows settings; it has been this way since the start, and has not changed even after reloading. I'm sorry for the extremely long post (and any mispellings). Ever since this stuff started happening to me, i realised by exploring the forum here that Lenovo has a lot of issues with the firmware and drivers, especially in this model. That makes me incredibly sad because this laptop was a big investment for me as a design student in university, and i was pretty happy with it until this happened; now i'm stuck because i can't return it or anything. So if the community has any solutions or ideas or anything, please do let me know. The shop i bought it from wrote one year international warranty on the receipt, but when i checked my laptop on the support site it says that the warranty is out of date :/ And i've tried searching the forum, some of the problems i have aren't mentioned anywhere (not even on youtube). As far as i know, my windows 10 is supposed to be genuine (has the sticker at the bottom), though when i bought the laptop i saw one of the stickers on the bottom (the serial numer one) was fading and coming off. The seller said it happens due to customs checking, and i went with it since i'd already paid and didn't have a choice. Anyhoo... again i'm sorry for making this even longer. Thank you for reading! And for any solutions!
I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system
It's worked out well for many of us in the past.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, I am going to buy a used Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 15.6". The modelnr is 80NV00JWMX It has the following spesifications: Intel Core i5-6300HQ, Nvidia GTX 960M 2GB, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB HDD (maybe a 8 GB flash drive). I have never owned a Lenovo, just several other brands. Will it be possible to upgrade this model with a SSD, and still have the 1 TB HDD? I am thinking of a M.2 Solid State Drive. I am going to pick up the Lenovo later today. I just wanted to clarify this before I am picking it up.Read other answers
Hello, I have pets in the house and I just bought the laptop about a month ago. I was using it then I decided to clean it from outside because it got fingerprints all over it. When I flipped the laptop I was surprised by the huge amounts of pet hair piling up on the fan. It never crossed my mind that this would happen. I want to know if the fan is supported by a dust filter mesh? And is it possible that the hair got through to the components inside? Should I haved checked and cleaned from the inside? I recently bought a M.2 SSD and I want to use it as a cache drive. Intels RST requires AHCI mode, I was under the assumption that I was already in AHCI mode but my inability to create any raid volumes through the disk management or have my drives recognized by the RST app says otherwise. There is no option to change my mode from IDE to AHCI in BIOS due to it being locked. How can I work around this?
Look in the device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, it should say Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller. For your second part of your question, you need at least 2 disk with unallocated areas to make a RAID array. But, saying that I would never setup a software RAID (ie windows) array and the BIOS doesnt support a hardware RAIDRead other 4 answers

For your infomation: 7 April 2016 Amazon price $1,194.99 Lenovo website does not specify what type of hard drive it comes with weither it is 2.5 ssd or M.2 ssd. I did call Lenovo prior to purchasing my computer to ask what type of drive it came with the sales staff told me it was a 2.5 inch ssd which turns out to be wrong. This laptop comes with a 500 GB M.2 ssd. It does not include the cable for the second hard drive, Your choice of 2.5 hd or 2.5 ssd. As of yet you cannot purchase the cable thru Lenovo parts department. The cable can be gotten thru AliExpress for around $49.00 (which does not include the hard drive caddy). Encompass also sales the cable but as of this time is back ordered to July 2016 at a price of $10 plus shipping. aslo does not come with the hard drive caddy. My computer had a bug when using it, windows exprorer service stopped working and I had to go to the task manager to restart the service. Hello everybody! I am interested in buying the new Gaming Laptop Lenovo ideapad Y700-15ACZ in the TOP version with FX-8800P and 4GB R9-M385X. As I have seen, first offers come only having the 1TB WD slim hdd. So time to find out which will be the best M.2 SSD to add nearby. For this need to clarify first if the M.2 port is connected to the SATA III of the FX-8800P's internal southbridge only or if it has connection to PCIe lanes. The HMM https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_y700-15acz_hmm_201508.pdf tells on page 26 there is PCI Express Gen3 and SATA Gen3. For the hdd is written SATA III as note and for the ssd it is NGFF which means the same like you write M.2, so it is unclear. Btw - there are NO DDR4 ports on that model yet. On page 64 you find some oem M.2 ssd models that Lenovo offers to add. Those are SATA3 models like LiteOn CV-1 and Samsung PM871 with keys for "B+M". But this also doesn't mean anything more than might be badder choices. Have a look at the mainboard on page 48. You can see that the M.2 connector has only key M (right side) which means PCIe 3.0 (cpu) + SATA whereas key B (left side) would mean PCIe 2.0 (southbridge) + SATA. That M key port would allow to put in ssd cards like the Samsung SM951MZ-HPV (AHCI) model which might be the fastest using AHCI+PCIe or even the newest model Samsung SSD 950 pro which uses PCIe 3.0+NVMe only. But if there exists only a SATA III connection, the key should be "B only" instea... Read more

Anyone having similar problem and fixed it?

Using external mouse for the most, but would be nice to have the option to use a functional touchpad from time to time.

Hello, My laptop configuration:OS: Windows 10 64 bits (up-to-date)Model : Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK (80NV)BIOS : CDCN37WW Five days ago the keyboard suddenly stopped to respond (nb : the Num Lock led remained on). I tried to restart Windows but since it could not (stucked on the reboot screen) I pressed the power button and heard a "clack" sound. When I restarted the computer the hard drive made some noices and the fans started to turn at high speed for ~3 seconds.NB : I upgraded to bios CDCN35WW few days before. After the incident I updated to CDCN37WW. Today the problem happened again (keyboard not responding). Before trying to reboot I unpluged and pluged back my mouse (Lenovo gaming mouse). As I expected, it did not function once I pluged it back. I tried to log out before rebooting. At that time Windows crashed and I saw the BSOD for 1 second before the computer shut down and reboot showing the Novo Button Menu (the keyboard was still not responding at this time).I rebooted by pressing the power button, once again some worrysome electrical noices while I was doing so.The computer restarted and once again noices from the hard drive + fans at full speed. Any suggestion ? Are BIOS updates bugged ?Thanks in advance for any help.Read other answers

how to install windows 7 on this. Here's what i've done: I've used both the Windows 7 DVD and i created a bootable USB wiith it (UEFI Boot). They work. I disabled the security in the bios, so i could work with UEFI, but when i boot the machine with either, the windows 7 loading screen happens, then it freezes on the Starting Windows animated logo. I can get no further. When i set the bios to boot in legacy mode it gets past that part, but then asks me for a driver. I've downloaded all of the windows 7 64 bit drivers on the Y700-15ISK driver page, but none of them seem to be the driver that windows is looking for. You would need to Order the reinstall DVD for the default OS from Lenovo. If you're planning on Win 10 then ask for that set of media. Only this way will it read the MS code in the bios for activation. Any other ISO download would require you still buy an upgrade OS for the key. If you search around in the Windows support area and/or post their someone may point you where to call. You could try the support Chat to a rep but you'll have to buy the upgrade media which is not expective at all and the simplist way to get all the drivers etc for a working image.

I am about to get a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15" Touchscreen laptop to India from the United States. The M.2 SSD it will be having has a storage capacity of 128GB, which I would like to upgrade to 256GB by swapping (replacing) the existing one with a new M.2 SSD. I have a couple of questions which I hope you would answer as soon as possible. Please note that this storage upgrade will be done in India, and not in the United States, so I would like you to answer accordingly. Q1. Will this void the warranty? And, is any warranty transfer required because of the change of country from US to India?Assuming that the warranty remains after this upgrade, Q2. How can I carry out this process? Obviously, no data migration utility for Windows will work here because the operating system will be on the drive that will be replaced. So Windows and other applications will have to be installed once again, which brings me to..... Q3. How do I ensure I do not lose the pre-installed Lenovo softwares like Dolby's control panel, Stagelight, to name a few? Is it possible to download these from Lenovo's website using any registration key for the laptop? Q4. As Windows 10 Home is pre-installed, will there be any license issue with Windows after the SSD is swapped and the operating system is re-installed? Q5. Lastly, can this be done at a Lenovo Service Center? This laptop is a very expensive investment for me, and I would like to get an elaborate answer for all of th... Read moreRead other answers

Greetings! I recently bought a new laptop, Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 15-ISK, with Windows 10 Home preloaded. I found a minor problem that happens frequently. After the laptop is idled for a period of time, 5 or 10 mins depending on plugged in or not as you know, the laptop first turns off display, then goes into sleep mode after another 5 or 10 mins. The problem is, after I come back and try to turn it back on, the screen stays black. However, I can see that the laptop is indeed responding by pressing NumLock, CapLock, or in my case, Fn-Space to turn on/off the backlight of keyboard. I checked and I have the latest windows updates and latest drivers for everything. So, any brilliant idea on this issue? Thanks in advanced.

Hello, I bought Lenovo ideapad Y700 and I encountered several problems. First of all, when working on this notebook from time to time I hear strange sounds coming out of somewhere. Those are no speakers noises, it seems those souns come from somewhere within the computer. I understand that it is normal when computer emits some noises while being ON, some buzzing or fan sounds, but those sounds I hear are really unnatural. They are like really unexpected and rather loud quick knocks, seems like they do not happen systematically. I had observed this problem for some time before writing here and as I can say those sounds appear regardless of what I do: play games, watch films, listen to music or just read some articles. Secondly, there are some strange sounds when closing/opening the lid. As if something is preventing the lid from closing/opening. It isn`t difficult to close or open it, just sounds. Last but not least, there is a small gap between parts of the lid. I thought there might be some fixation, pushed this detail gently but it did not help. There was no physical impact on the computer. Problematic spot It is OK on the right side Can those issues be considered as a warranty case? I am not really satisfied with the quality of product. Thank You.Read other answers

Hello all, I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Y700-17ISK part # 80Q00011US, and according to case manager assigned to my case, 100 days ago. The notebook was mis-represented by a sales rep, and when I got the machine and it didn't have the second hard drive bay in rear of machine, which I was told the 80Q00011US had. The machine also had a mild display issue, but rather than report it and spend 2+ weeks without a machine, I ignore the issue. It didn't affect daily usage anyways. So 10 days ago, the machine dies during a reboot. Seems the MB fried. I have been fighting and waiting (mostly waiting) for over a week for a case manager (Crystal) to contact me, which finally happen @ 7:30 AM PST yesterday. The case manager was not customer friendly, refused the replacement or refund options I requested, stated they would ONLY repair the system. Her cause for "rejecting" those options was because I didn't report the display issue in the first 30 days (I have enough exp. (35 Yrs.) in computers to know a bad spot in display is NOT going to fried a MB). Conservation got heated. I refuse the repair option because I know what they will do is replace MB & Display, and return other parts back to the machine (parts that very well could have been damaged when MB died, leaving me with a US$1,300 refurbished machine). I then requested to speak with her supervisor since I was tired of being BS-ed, only for her to claim there was no-one higher to speak to, and her actually hang... Read moreRead other answers

Hi, I have 2 of these laptops and one has a battery problem. In Win10 it shows that it can only charge to 93%. I can leave it for few hours and it will still only say 93%. If I take power brick from the other (that can charge to 100%) charging stops at 94%. The light indicator is white when on 93% but the % in windows indicator is bothering (not to me, but to the user). I think that there is a problem in Win10 indicator (since light indicator lights white), but even formating (and converting from Legacy to EFI) didn't solved the problem. Is there a problem with battery? EDIT: At what % does LED turns from orange to white? I checked indicator for white LED when laptop was turned off and charging. So I can't confirm if it charged to 100% and if it charges to 100% when turned on.

I am disappointed with this. Is this something that can easily fixed or i have to send in for servicing? Thank you.
