I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Over the past week, my cursor moves randomly over the screen, will place newly-typed text in the wrong place, makes duplicate entries of an alphabetic keystroke, skips a space, etc. I have a Toshiba Satellite L455, new this year. This weird stuff happens in any system in which one types (electronic mail, forms on internet, etc.) My hand is nowhere near the mouse when this occurs. I sought help from one of those pay-how-much places on the internet last night; after 2 1/2 hours, I gave up. I have also noticed that my Dell Inspiron laptop is starting to do the same thing. Any experience/solutions with this?

A:Cursor is CRAZY!!!!!

If its new then return the lap top and get another one.

For your Dell i would recommend updating the mouse/keyboard drivers if you can or use another mouse.

I just joined this forum to ask the very same thing. I can be typing away and when I look at the screen, the cursor has jumped and I am actually typing on a totally different line. It is always where my pointer is located. It is very annoying. What do I do to correct this problem?

Hello everybody:

i have a problem with my new computer that is a little weird.
i would like to describe my system and then the symptoms.

e-machines/T1742/1.70GHz/512 MB ram/Celeron
windows xp home edition service pack 1, plus all the updates (critical, drivers and xp) installed

cd-r/dvd reader only/std. stuff like printer, floppy tray, 56k modem, (i do Not have a network installed, although it has a NIC)ect.

the new things i installed were 2 sticks of memory (256 MB ea.)
and the cd-r/dvd reader drive.

Here's the problem:
(i'm not precise the date it started, but it was months after i acquired the computer & maybe days after i plugged-in the first stick of memory (256) to work with the 128 MB stick that came with the machine.

It all began 1 day i was working with microsoft Works 6 (factory installed/EMI) and all of the sudden i clicked to insert a word and the cursor began eating (by itself) everything i was doing. I turn off the program and noticed that the whole system was going crazy. The toolbar (especially the section where the clock is located) was openning and closing by itself. i could not press anything because the thumbnails or icons where turning on and off. If you tried to turn off the machine the choices where like alive, turning off and on (didn't let you click). It was like a nervous breakdown. i panic and unplugged the machine from the wall outlet.
when i try to reboot, the machine froze on the e-machines logo

Hey guys,

So the issue I'm having is that very frequently, I'd be on my Y50-70 4K Touch, and the cursor goes crazy in the right lower corner! It is soooo annoying since everything spazzes out for a solid 30 seconds everytime it happens, and it happens very often. This video is an example of this annoyance. What can be the issue??

Welcome to the Forums Memy.

Sounds like the autocalibration on your Trackpoint has gone haywire. Does the jumping stop when you touch the TrackPad and resume immediately after you lift your fingers off it?

For me, I went back to the last known good configuration, and discovered that the problem was due to the program "AdAware" on my system... the new version of ad-aware was running too many different background.

Also, check if this persist in safe mode.

Update us how it goes.

I think that's a laptop. If you are using the laptop's keyboard try with the touchpad disabled and/or try typing with an external keyboard.

If you are using an external mouse disconnect it while typing to see if maybe it is sending spurious signals.

Hello.
Windows Pro SP2, 80GB, Pent4, 512MB RAM
I have had this little problem with my mouse for a year or so!! Until now it has been rare but lately it is getiing more and more frequent.

Every so often the computer will start beeping like mad and if a window (doesn't matter if it is word, excel, powerpoint or Internet) the page will jump up and down!! Sometimes I know when I turn the comp on if it is going to do this as it starts beeping as soon as it's turned on.
My mouse is optical and is plugged into the mouse port not USB.

Any suggestions?

A:Crazy Cursor! Help Needed!

Are you saying that you get beep codes before Windows starts or that the beeping starts after Windows boots?

Beep codes that occur as soon as the bios begins to post (except for one short beep) are indicative of a bios problem.

Describe the beeping for us and tell us what bios and version you have.

A few days ago I uploaded some video clips off my camera onto my son's laptop, soon after the mouse cursor started going crazy, darting around the screen with a mind of it's own. (The mouse itself is a little button in the middle of the keyboard)
I plugged in another mouse using usb port, this pretty much does the same although after a while messing around with it it'll work for a while but frequently goes crazy and darts about.

I'm hopeless with all this technical stuff but since there wasn't a problem until I uploaded the video clips and also that the usb mouse does the same I'm guessing there's some kind of virus.
I have Spyware Terminator running but didn't realise until this happened that it was 'unsupported' and needed updating to a newer version, I've since done this and ran a full scan it isn't finding anything.
I've searched the problem and most of the results come back saying there is some kind of virus, I then download the recommended tool to find and remove it but nothing comes up.

Whilst I've been trying to 'fix' this problem I've noticed that all my system restore points have gone, leaving just one from the either the day the problem occurred or the day before, I've tried this but still the mouse dances about the screen.

Please someone help me fix this, it's driving me crazy, not to mention the fact that this is my son's laptop.. He's not impressed! lol ... Read more

It just jumps everywhere. It also clicks my start button. I am using a laptop. I have tried virus scan, malware scan, spyware scan....everything scan.... I tried rolling back the drivers. Can you help?

A:Crazy erratic cursor

Try Trend Micro Housecall they will scan your computer on line with multiple scanners.
Have you used any speed up type programs as they can cause the mouse to stutter and flicker.
set a restore point then go to device manager and expand the properties box of mice and other pointing devices and uninstall the driver.
Exit and restart your computer
Windows will look for the driver.
Update it after and restart.
If that fails you will have your restore point to return to.

It stops running but after awhile resumes again. When trying to run any of the downloaded removal tools, the (cancel) option is lite (it is like a light) and can not run any of the tools. Even as I write at this moment and I try go back the cursor line will move forward across all the words till it reaches the end. This same page at moments moves up or down by itself. Hello!

A day or so ago, I noticed that the computer was acting kind of strange.
I'm not exactly sure how all of this happened. I DO use Myspace, but I also try to make sure that I run Ad-Aware and virus scans pretty frequently, AND I do utilize Cookie Cleaner. I'm wondering if it's because a friend sent me a text file over AIM for some HTML, or if it was from something else...

Anyway, though, if I'm going to ask for help, I'd better give up the details, huh?

While Running AVG Free Edition Anti-Virus, I had an alert come up for this:

Tojan horse Generic6.UMS

There were 5 things that popped up...4 during a scan, and the 5th later, while I was online, looking for help. These are the two I can remember:

ISSetup.dll
_is10.exe

I can't recall what the others were, but I remember trying to search for them, and all I got were message boards where people WANTED to download this thing so they could play a game of some sort.

Placed in AVG Free virus vault, then wiped clean...said they were "backup files" and unhealable.

Ran Ad-Aware, AVG Free, Cookie Cleaner...downloaded PC Tools Antivirus, to no avail, did not have time to let definitions download. Am working on that currently.

Scanning with AVG Free today at 12:49 AM.......nothing unusual, except that it's taking 1+ hour to scan, when it usually only takes 20.
It seems mostly to be scanning in the WINDOWS section, and it's never taken this long before. I don't remember seeing ... Read more

Thanks for the help, I'm going crazy!

My IBM Thinkpad x60s I think is infected. I can't type anything, one or two keystrokes turns into a string of gibberish and the computer is constantly right-clicking. The mouse also sometimes turns into a little dinosaur when it's processing stuff and I know it wasn't there before. I've run my anti-virus software but nothing turns up.

I tried booting up in safe more, but my keyboard was still acting weird. The only way I was even able to log in was because the computer has a finger scanner.

any thoughts? I'm on a second computer now.
Thanks!!

Hi,

Since my screen turns black (instead of blue), I don't know if this is the correct forum to post in. The problem:

The mouse cursor (normally a black outlined white arrow) will, with no warning, turn weird-looking - and looks fuzzy or blurry, larger than normal, with different colors, it can go from pointy to round, sometimes disappears for awhile. After that, I have only a couple of minutes to shut down open programs before the computer slows down and freezes to the point where I can't click anything.

Sometimes, I'll have left the computer running, go off to do an errand, and come back to see the two monitors have turned black. Ctrl Alt Del does nothing. The only way to shut down is to push and hold the start button until the computer goes off.

Other times when the cursor goes crazy, I'm able to click Start and select restart, but the computer will not restart. It will start powering off, then turn black. I have to manually shut it off (push the start button in).

Upon restarting, the computer will start up normally (after selecting the option to start normally) and will run anywhere from a day to several days until the cursor goes crazy again.

I've run memtest 86+ and it reported no errors after 12 passes.

I saw a thread in another forum that suggested changing the power management of the mouse may help with mouse problems, so I have deselected "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under the Device Manager > Mice and other po... Read more

The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block.

The HDD is Western Digital WD Green WD10EARX 1TB. So test it using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows.

Also, some failure from AVG's part is also noticed. And AVG Disk Driver (c:\windows\system32\drivers\avgdiska.sys) may fairly contribute to the issue. Better you uninstall AVG using Revo Uninstaller freeware.

Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one; for a safety need.

Let us know the results.

I recently purchased an HP envy laptop (model m6 n-012dx) and the cursor on my screen will intermitently become erratic, very jumpy. It will start moving all over the screen, or jitter back and forth, and even minimize pages or open pages and links beyond my control. This happens even with my fingers off of the touchpad, so I know it is not a sensitivity issue. When I do attempt to take control of the crazy cursor it is pretty much inresponsive to my attempts.  Basically the cursor becomes possessed. This happens intermittently though (and when it occurs it lasts at least a couple minutes at a time), so I haven't been able to pin-point what triggers this behavior. My touchpad driver is up to date and all of my other drivers are up to date, so I know it's not an issue there. Oh, and I'm using Windows 8.1. A temporary solution I have noticed is that by doing a hard reset it fixes the problem until the next occurrence. But I don't want to have to keep going to this solution, considering this happens pretty much daily at some point or another. Any ideas/suggestions out there? Am I alone in this issue? It is very annoying. Cursing at the cursor. I would be very appreciative of any advice.  Also, a side note: I am living in Guatemala for most of the rest of this year (this is where I am right now) and so returning the laptop to Bestbuy isn't really an option. That would have been my big solution. Thank you in advance! &nbs... Read more

Hi All,

I was over in another area of the forums called "am i infected" and after following all their instructions it was determined that my computer is not infected with a virus of any sort.

I am running vista on a dell inspiron 1545. I've had it for about 3 years and when i first got it i had a lot of issues with the touchpad and keyboard acting erratically. After a lot of back and forth with dell and a ton of frustration, updating the touchpad driver and disabling the zoom option seemed to solve the problem. At that time, the problem was with typing. For instance, I'd be typing an email and the cursor would jump all over the page. Text would get highlighted and deleted, spaces would pop up, random letters appear, the keyboard seemed possessed. Dell sent me a new keyboard and ultimately a new laptop but it still happened. Through forums like this on line I found others experiencing the same problem and that's how i found the fix.

The other night all of a sudden windows started opening and closing randomly and very quickly. I lost internet connection and then the network couldn't be identified until the router was reset. The computer becomes totally useless. I can't do anything with it. It will be fine for a couple hours and then all of a sudden it becomes possessed. Considering the history with this machine, I'm assuming it's the touchpad driver again.

Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?

Hi,

Thank you to anyone who can give me a hand in advance. These two problems have been puzzling me for a while. I doubt they are linked - but they could be I suppose.

I have Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (12.0.6316.5000) SP1 MSO (12.0.6320.5000) installed apparently. This came pre-installed from Dell. I have tried re-installing it from scratch with no luck. This is a Microsoft Vista Ultimate machine.

I compose email's in HTML, though I have tried Rich and plain text

The symptoms:

*Spell check problem*
Spell check is set to do its checking before sending.
I compose an email and hit send.
If there are no spelling mistakes, the email sends, no problems.
If there are spelling mistakes, the spell check box window appears as you would expect. After the correcting routine I occasionally get a box saying (something like) "Do you want to spell check from the beginning" - clicking either Yes or No will crash Outlook.

*Cursor problem*
While composing an email, I will randomly loose the ability to use my mouse to position the cursor in the message area. I cannot position it, select text, right click - anything with the mouse. I can use the keyboard with the arrow keys perfectly fine though. I find it strange how this only effects the message box - the other fields, such as subject, to, cc etc, are unaffected.

I should explain that this machine is used by a blind person. It has Dolphin Supernova installed - a reader and magnifier product. These problems are present ... Read more

Hi All, I hope someone here can help me as I can't go on with this crazy machine any longer...

My machine is a 2012 Sony Vaio, I've just updated my system specs. What happens is the following:

The fan runs for no apparent reason. It just takes off, loud and blowing out hot air even though the machine is just ticking over, more noisy than it ever used to be. As I'm just writing this, it's racing away

The track-pad sticks and just generally plays up, I've attached two screenshots, the first as I was updating my system specs (writing specs or moving the pointer around, and it decides to highlight a load), the second as I was uploading that first screenshot (I was clicking on 'manage attachments'). Other times the pointer shoots around all over, no corelation to my hand movements, also when I go to tap the pad, the pointer flies off.

Comodo Dragon has been hanging, sticking, not-responding.

Generally my machine has been performing horribly, so I performed all the operations below but nothing has helped:

EAM runs its regular scans, every couple of days, finds nothing
MBAM finds nothing,
MBAR clean
SAS clean
Hitman Pro default, clean
Following Chiron's suggestions on TechSupportAlert:
Kaspersky TDSS Killer clean
Comodo Cleaning Essentials clean
Glary Utilities Pro default scan and fix
I then ran SFC /scannow and everything is fine,
Puran Defrag running a boot-time defrag
Full disk check
Carefully vacuumed the ventilation slots
Reinstalled (repaired) Comodo Dragon

I'm ready to kill the person that invented this virus that has hit me three times in as many weeks. XP Total Security 2011, has caused me more loss of mind and m ental stablity then anything in my life. this is what it does before actually infecting my machine

It disables my firewall
It disables my automatic updates and locks AU to off/disabled, I have to use the run command to actually activate the dll to turn on Automatic Updates
It disables my current anytivirus protection, (Microsfot Secuirity Essentials)

Then when viewing DeviantART, my internet windows dies, all its tabs die as well. first thing I run is MSE, as I am running it a fake Windows Security Center pops up saying I am infected. Thankfully so far MSE has found and supposdely removed the things it has found. Even on start up it finds the EXACT same things as it found during the scan, two or three items. I have the DDS logs, but sadly when trying ot run the GMER scanner, I got hit with the Blue Screen of Death, this virus will not quit. and I've lots more braincells fighting a uphill battle with this thing. I even ran rkill, it says it found and killed a proxy connection, which I never set. It leaves a RK_Proxy reg key on my desktop when done, I merly deleted it, as I never set a proxy, so merging will do little good.

I want this machine cleaned, and the virus properly killed and all my backdoors sealed.

Things I've tried: uninstalling / reinstalling / repairing / etc. mouse drivers, video card drivers, network adapter drivers (thought the problem was related to network activity because of startup/safe mode behaviour being normal), catalyst control centre, etc.

I haven't a clue what this means since I don't know how to put a disk in a harddisk. Any ideas?

Well its probably reffering to some kind of storage device you are using, if you have any beside One EIDE harddisk...

What's the Operating system you're working with? Do you have 2hardrives or a zip drive or something? A SCZI drive perhaps? Are you trying, albeit inadvertantly, to record on your CDRW drive?

I have a Compaq Presario 2570US laptop. Of late, whenever I type something, whether in MS Word, Search Engine Search Bar or even in this message etc, my computer DELETES (backspaces) what I type on its own. Sometimes it deletes a letter, a couple words or every darn thing I type.

Also when I am in Explorer, it would "back" to a previous page until it gets to the first page I was on.

When there are no windows open, the computer continuosly "beeps" like it is trying to backspace something.

I thought it was a virus, but newly installed Norton found nothing. I also thought it was a hijacker, but Xoft Spy found nothing.

I "restored" my system with the Restore System Discs and everything was normal/quiet for about a week and a half, or so, and then the problem started again.

Really frustratung, cause I cannot type what I want and I cant seem to find the problem

HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!!

Hello Ralanders and welcome to TSF...

Couple of items you need in order to begin our process:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download HijackThis http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KRC%...20Analyzer.zip and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in 'y' if you agree. The 'result.txt' file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. You don't need to post the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan.... Read more

Maybe this sounds weird, but I like the classic cursors and I want the cursor to stay the same whether it's showing a background or busy activity.

I tried to capture the cursor and edit it with AWicons, but when I set it, the entire cursor just dissapears when I launch an app for example. But when the white cursor is smaller than the normal, it's fine.

A:Apply classic arrow cursor to background and busy cursor?

You can just download standard classic cursor from XP and apply it to every cursor type by clicking on each type and selecting that file with Browse button.

Hi, Everyone- when typing on a new Asus EEE 1015, with Win 7, the cursor will suddenly jump backwards to an earlier spot in the text. This happens a lot, and makes it difficult to type anything.

I googled and saw this problem for many systems and OSs, but it seems like mainly a laptop and netbook problem. some people have erduced sensitivity on touchpads, or have updated touchpad drivers, or have installed a program that disconnects the touchpad when the keys are being used.

We know we are not touching the touchpad accidentally. you can really perch your fingers way above, and the jump still happens. We have decreased the sensitivity on the touchpad, and the jumping still happens.

We also have an Asus EEE 1005 Win XP, for almost a year, with absolutely no cursor jumping.

Any info specific to this set-up? I would love to hear any insights, before I go into a long routine of upgraing BIOS, upgrading touchpad drives, etc.

A:Cursor jumping Asus Eee 1015, cursor moves when typing

As the PC is new I would return it under warranty as this is most likely a hardware issue.

The only quick fix that might work is to reinstall the touchpad drivers from the Asus site. You could also check in the touchpad settings to see what is set for making the cursor disappear during typing, change the setting from whatever it is at present and see if that helps.

Firstly, please excuse my lacking of computer knowledge, I'm merely a scatterbrained teen looking for some help. I'm not even sure this thread is in the right place.

I've looked around the web for the longest time for a solution to this problem, but have found nothing but advice on restarting the computer, which does nothing to help.

This flashing cursor is very annoying, and not only is it a visual irritant, but ever since it started to flash, my computer has been running slower than usual. I've checked task manager for any strange or unusual processes that might be trying to run and keep failing and restarting, but everything seems normal there.

Currently I'm running a virus scanner to see if any malware has tampered with anything, but so far no risks there besides the usual few tracking cookies.

For now, to keep me from pulling my hair out from the massive irritation this problem brings, I have went into the mouse settings and changed the 'working in background' cursor to the regular pointer to keep it from visually flashing.

I'd be very grateful if someone could be of some assistance; for if this is causing some hazardous problem with my computer, simply hiding the flashing cursor will do no good.

My HP Touchsmart 300-1025 has windows 7 64bit installed and svchost is slowing down the computer and using very high cpu and memory usage. It is not a virus or malware. This is very frustrating - I am seriously questioning whether my next major purchase will involve Windows, as reliability seems to be a problem!

A:Cursor jumps around while typing in word (corrected) - Cursor jumpsing in Word around while typ (not corrected)

Hi,

Before going further, would you please let me know if the issue only occurs when trying in Word? What about notepad or other software? What is your mouse model?
Does it have the driver? Did you install any mouse related software?

First, make sure your computer model is supported Windows 7. If so, update the latest mouse and touchpad driver from manufacture's site. Also, go to Mouse Properties
-> Pointers Options tab -> clear the option for Enhance pointer precision.

If the issue persists, I suggest performing a
Clean Boot or Safe Mode to check the result.

Best Regards,
Niki
