I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Will a HP ZBook 15 G2 Laptop with a A7E38UT#ABA 230W Advanced Docking Station run two Samsung UHD Monitor UE850 monitors at 4K and 60hz using both DisplayPorts on the Docking Station? I am currently running a HP ZBook 15 G2 Laptop using the A7E34AA#ABA Docking Station running two Samsung UHD UE850 Monitors at 4K.I am using the DisplayPort on the A7E34AA#ABA Docking Station to run one of the Samsung UHD Monitor UE850 monitors at 4K and 60hz.I am using a StarTech USB to DisplayPort adapter to provide a second DisplayPort. The adapter driven monitor will only refresh at 30 Hz and looks terrible compared to the 60 Hz monitor.  I can use the mini DisplayPort on the laptop to drive the second Samsung UHD Monitor UE850 monitors at 4K and 60hz, but I am afraid the laptop mini DisplayPort physical port will wear out quickly and give me trouble quickly because I remove laptop from the port at least daily. Can the A7E38UT#ABA 230W Advanced Docking Station run two Samsung UHD Monitor UE850 monitors at 4K and 60hz using both DisplayPorts on the Docking Station?Thank you.Bill

I have the following:HP ZBook 15 G2 Mobile Workstation (F1M37UT#ABA) (Windows 7)HP 2012 230W Advanced Docking Station (A7E38AA#ABA)2 x Dell U2312HM connected via Display Port I use one of the Dell displays as the primary display when the laptop is docked. I am using Windows to manage the displays (extend, disconnect) Before I undock, I disconnect the external displays. When I do so, both IE11 and Chrome processes hang. If I extend back to the external displays, they start working again. I originally used the HP drivers for the intel hd graphics 4600 and nvidia quadro k2100m. I was having problems with the system not recognizing the type and resolution of the external displays, so HP support advised me to try the intel and nvidia drivers. That did not fix the issue with the displays and I am also having this problem with the IE11 and Chrome processes hanging. I recently updated to the latest intel and nvidia drivers and they made no difference. I'm disappointed that this very expensive laptop and docking station works so poorly. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Anyone have a suggestion to work around or fix it?

A:Problems with ZBook 15 G2 and Advanced Docking Station

Just got the same ZBook 15 G2 and I'm also having these resolution issues when using a external display. It's driving me crazy. Both displays (laptop and external) have the same resolution 1920x1080. And yet for some reason when I drag a window from one display to another the resolution of that window changes. I either have the correct resolution on the laptop screen or I have the correct resolution on the external display. But not at the same time. While draging the windows from one display you can clearly see the size of the window changing, from perfectly readable to a blurry resolution that is hard to read. I have used multiple display drivers. I have set the Hybrid mode in de BIOS on every possible setting. Nothing solves this issue. There must be more ZBook users out there having these issues.  Anybody got a solution for this mess?

Hi all, I bought an A7E34AA docking station and received an A7E32AA with an A7E34AA AC adapter (230W) and an A7E32AA power cord (different plug and slimmer cable). Is there any difference between the two docking stations except the AC adapter? I'm thinking about getting a docking station for my laptop, but I'm running into some confusions. First off, I don't know if my laptop is a ZBook 15 or a ZBook 15 G2. I think it's a ZBook 15 because it says "HP ZBook 15" on the bottom without the "G2" suffix. Also, it was issued to me by my university in August 2014, a month before the ZBook 15 G2 was announced. So unless my university was able to get early access to the G2's, it must just be a ZBook 15. Second, I don't know which docking stations are compatible with the ZBook 15. And I don't know what the merits of each of these docking station models are. I use a second monitor a lot with my laptop, which connects by VGA. So that's one thing I'd want the docking station to be able to support. Other than that I'd just want a bunch of USB ports, an audio port, and other stuff that I think is standard for a docking station. So, what advice can you give me?

Hello. My work computer is a 15" Probook. My personal computer is a Zbook 15. I have the old 90W HP Docking Station. I have speakers, 2 monitors, a keyboard, a printer, and a mouse. Connecting all of them each time I connect my laptop is a huge pain. I also use both my work and personal computer a lot at home, and I definitely like using my full setup for both when I do that. What is the best (and ideally cheapest) way for me to get a docking station (or some kind of workaround) that will dock both laptops?  Thanks,Justin

Hopefully someone here can help me before I get an aneurysm. I got the HP Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station (150 watts, model number P5Q54AA). Everything is connected ok but as soon as the dock connects to my laptop it crashes my computer instantly and generates the blue screen of death. It doesn't matter if a monitor is connected or not. There was a couple of scary moments when it sent my fans into overdrive and started beeping loudly as if a bomb was ready to explode. I spent more than eight hours on this yesterday and at this point the dock seems like nothing more than a nice looking brick. I have went through all of the help threads here and tried everything. I updated the bios from 1.14 to 1.15I updated all audio drivers, graphic drivers, firmware drivers, chipset drivers, and thunderbolt related driversI rolled back everything twice and reinstalled everythingI removed the security setting in the bios that relates to thunderbolt devices connectingI've made numerous other changes that didn't work and had to roll backNothing seems to work. I am puzzled as to why HP haven't set this up better. Surely there needs to be a dedicated app for this that handles everything and installs and removes all necessary drivers. By the looks of it this docking station has been a mess from the start. What else can I do at this point?

It is possible you have a defective dock. I have exactly the same setup and went through some difficulties when I first got it but turning off Thunderbolt security made mine work. It is still occasionally finicky coming out of sleep mode or if I disconnect the laptop and use it as a laptop then try to reconnect the dock. Takes a restart or 2 sometimes but mine generally works well.  I would suggest your problems point to a bad piece of hardware.

I have a ZBook Studio G3.  I received the docking station for this laptop which is part number:  P5Q58UT#ABA.  I have plugged it in as instructed, but it is not charging the ZBook.  The power light on the docking station is illuminated.   The USB ports do not work either.  It appears that the only thing that is working is the power indicator and its ability to put the laptop to sleep if I press the button.  Do I have a defective docking station (it appears to be defective)?  If not, how do I get it to work?  By the way, the power supply that came with the docking station seems to be working just fine if I plug it directly into the ZBook.

I work for a school system and we're looking at going to Win7 x64 Professional soon for administrators (not teachers or students). In our testing, we have three users in our office that are using HP ProBook 6450b laptops with HP Advanced Docking Station as their only workstation. This will be the same setup that a lot of users will have as well once we deploy it further. These three users all have issues when placing their laptops on the docking station. Two of the three usually have their laptops sleep when leaving home and get prompted to repair Windows once it's placed on the docking station and turn it on. The other I can't get a straight answer out of but claim that they turned it off every time they're done.

When the two users get the repair menu, one lets it repair and her laptop's fine. The other cancels the repair (all data is not on the laptop and we can re-image it if anything happens) and his laptop's fine once it's in Windows.

Both users that have the issues are now running SP1, which made no difference with or without. One of the users had the HP drivers for the Advanced Docking Station installed, which seems to just add USB drivers. One user we've swapped out the docking station for a new one. We've even tried BIOS updates. No matter what we've tried, the errors still occur.

I've tried to find specific information on the issue with that model, but haven't been able to. When I've searched for "docking issues" with Windows 7, I keep fin... Read more

My new work computer is an HP ZBook 15 G2 (i7 processor). Great machine, love the screen, getting used to the keyboard. It came with the 230W adapter, which is approximately the size and weight of a small child. When I'm in my office, it's in the dock, but I carry this thing to like 7 meetings a day. If I got a 90W slimline adapter, would it work? I understand that obviously it's not going to be able to provide as much juice as the 230W adapterzilla that the machine came with. I'd be OK if it just ran the laptop, or even just significantly extended the battery life instead of running it and charging it at the same time.

I have an HP Elitebook 850 and an HP 2013 Ultraslim Docking Station.  I've been using them for over a year with dual 27" WQHD monitors (2560x1440) through the dual displayport connections on the back of the docking station. I recently upgraded to a 32" BenQ UHD (4K) monitor, and while it works perfect if I connect the DisplayPort cable directly to my laptop, I am having problems getting it to display anything when connected through the docking station. This problem makes it so I can't use the docking station and the new monitor together. Some more details:- Running Windows 7 x64- When monitor & laptop are connected to docking station, Windows recognizes the 4K monitor is there, but won't display anything on it (monitor thinks there is no input). I undock and connect to the laptop directly and it recognizes/displays instantly.- I've tried docking port firmware version 2.27 (what I had originally - SoftPaq#71104) and 2.30 (SoftPaq#75855). Both were downloaded through the "HP SoftPaq Download Manager". And yes, I undocked/unplugged/rebooted/etc in between with no difference in result.- I've tried configuring the monitor with every different resolution from 800x600 all the way to 4K - none of them get anything displayed if it's connected through the docking port (but all work fine if connected directly to the laptop). I'm at my wits end here - How can I get the docking station to work with my new monitor?

Hey everyone,

I use the docking station with two additional monitors and other devices. If I connect the already powered off laptop, that was previously powered on without the docking station, the eject button does not power on, the connected devices do not work, and the laptop is extremely slow. If I then power off the laptop while connected, disconnect it from the docking station, reconnect it to the docking station, then the eject light illuminates, and it works perfectly.

and finally power on the laptop and it works perfectly.

I don;t plug in also any power cord to docking station but is this necessery for working?

Hi!
I have a Latitude E7740 that runs Ubuntu Xenial (16.04). I dock it to a "Dell EURO2 Advanced E-port II" docking station.
If I boot it in the docking station, everything works fine, and I find all my two DVI-connected monitors.
However, if I undock, then put it into the dock again while running, it fails to enable the screens. I'm using a script called autorandr for switching between display modes - it uses xrandr. It tries to run:
xrandr --output DP1-1 --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0 --mode 1920x1200 --panning 0x0 --pos 0x0 --rate 59.95 --reflect normal --rotate normal --output DP1-2 --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0 --mode 1920x1200 --panning 0x0 --pos 1920x0 --rate 59.95 --reflect normal --rotate normal
But the X server responds with:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)  Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)  Minor opcode of failed request: 21 (RRSetCrtcConfig)  Serial number of failed request: 48  Current serial number in output stream: 48
Running this exact command after booting in the dock is doing the right thing, but after undocking then docking, it doesn't work.
Any ideas here? I have updated to the latest BIOS version.
Problem also reported in launchpad with lot's of debug info, here:
bugs.launchpad.net/.../1585884
Autorandr script is here: github.com/.../

Hello -  My x220 does not lock into  Mini Docking Station Series 3 that I bough recently. The rubber pads on the battery seem to be preventing the laptop from being docked. (Not sure if I am doing something wrong instead.) Also I am trying to set up a multi monitor display ( Dell U2415). Will appreciate some inputs on how I should resolve both the issues or a link if that has been covered before .

Hello, I have to work with special PCIe cards (x1 up to x16), usually connected in a tower. I want to replace my old tower (E31) with a ThinkPad P51. I was looking for solutions to connect PCIe x16 cards over USB3 and found some do-it-yourself tutorials, but I didn't find a kind of cloed box for 1 to 4 PCIe cards that I can connect to the ThinkPad Dockinstation. I found a lot of threads concerning the extension of grafic cards for notebooks like:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/External-GPUs-on-P50-Mobile-Workstation-... But I don't want to connect grafic cards. The PCIe cards are used to connect other 3rd party hardware. For example I need the card "ADLINK PCIE-GIE64" because I only got drivers for this device and I can't use the onboard network card. Looking forward for advices how I can connect PCIe cards to the docking station in a "clean and not self-made" solution. Thank you in advance.

Hi,I've just got a Zbook 15 G2 and currently looking for docking station as I mainly use it with combination of monitor + keyboard/Mouse + speaker in my desk.Since this laptop is quite large with its equally unwieldy power brick I figured out I'd better go with a docking for easy daily attach/detach. http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetHTML.aspx?docname=c04287869I think I need the basic dock (not the advance one)So a few internet searches suggest the suitable dock for HP Zbook 15 is the one with 230W power (it makes sense since its factory power brick is 150 watt), but I also see a the 90W one is offered considerably cheaper.. and I get a vague notion that the additional power in the 230W is simply to allow you to successfully operate more peripheral items at a single time.Since I'm not going to connect and/or daisy-chain any power hungry device, is there any chance 90W docking would be able to hold?Regards,Razz

A:90W Docking for HP Zbook 15 G2

For anyone interested,  I went with 120W Dock and my laptop works just fine (no warning/no error/no "running under power" message). No degradation of performance whatsoever. My setup:HP Zbook 15 G2+ HP 2012 120W Dock  + Displayport Monitor + Wireless Keyboard/Mouse + 1 or 2 low power USB devices (Smartphone/Portable HDD) Additionally I found out that some people also have success using 90W dock, but this is anecdotal. I can't really confirm.

I am using this Zbook 17 g3 for the third week now. It is significantly fasters than the elitebook 8760W it retires. There is still some issues not resolved. I have established a routine to making docking to the thunderbolt 3 work. I have one thunderbolt 3 at home and another in the office.  I found to have the thunderbolt 3 docking work properly I need to log in to the laptop standing alone without having it connected to any device. The external keyboard and the mouse are both connected to the thunderbolt 3 via USB so when I start up they are both inactive. After the laptop starts up, I then plug in the thunderbolt 3 to the laptop to provide it with power and communication. The screen (dual monitor in both locations) flashes and then the second monitor, external keyboard and the mouse work this way. If I plug in the thunderbolt 3 connector to the laptop right when I start up, it will not communicate with the laptop which means the external keyboard, the mouse or the second monitor all will not work.  I think this is not right. I'd like to be able to walk into the office, or home office. Dock the laptop. Turn it on and every device works, like any HP docking device I used to have. But before I found an alternative my established start-up procedure is an acceptable work around. Not good enough. But I'd live with it. How is everyone else's experience with the zbook 17 g3 docking to the thunderbolt 3? Another issue is I have not yet had the USB ports on ... Read more

Anyone know of a solution for this? Almost every time I undock or re-dock my laptop after a meeting, something will be unresponsive, i.e. my Ethernet cable will fail to be detected or my wired keyboard becomes unresponsive. This is generally solved by a reboot (reseating the cable to the device that is failing has not generally worked), but I don't think this is necessary to solve the problem each time. I am still needing to look at things such as drivers (knowing that Windows 10 has its own method of fetching compatible drivers over HP Support Assistant or what's offered through the site). Specs: HP Zbook 15 G2Inten 6th gen I7 Processor16 GB RAMWindows 10 Professional 64-bit  Hardware attached to docking station:Wireless MouseWired KeyboardEthernet CableVGA cable to Samsung Syncmaster BX2431Power Cable

Hi all, We just bought 5x Zbook 15 laptops as replacement for our Dell line, they have the latest drivers and bios from the HP site. We have/had 2 issue when the laptop is sitting in the dock ( 230w dock ) The first one : When the laptop (W7/8/8.1 or Ubuntu) is started in the dock so with the screen closed the external screens work perfect from starting the laptop till shutting down. The only that does not work is the laptop screen when opening or when getting the laptop off the dock, only thing that worked was restarting with the laptop screen opened. Solution HP helpdesk : Turn off the Hybrid Graphics Enhanced Display Feature in the bios. So I thought ok solved.... NOT Second issue : Now when booting in dock with laptop screen closed the external screens only turn on if Windows/Ubuntu is started, this will be ok for a lot of consumers but not for companies as they are using bios passwords when now is not visable so they need to guess when typing the password.  Case : 4734559318 / 4733480978 HP enigeer came onsite and came to the same conclusion I already made... It's a bios --> hardware controlling issue. Hopefully will this supposedly bios issue (control bios -> hardware) be resolved otherwise we will probably go back to Dell!

A:Zbook 15 Docking/external screens issue

If you have the latest BIOS and BOTH Intel and NVIDIA graphics drivers installed, please, call HP support back and ask for an escalation. Intel graphics is used most of the time (unless applications use OpenGL or other 3D graphics) and there may be an issue with resume from suspend with that driver

I connect my zBook to the Thunderbolt docking station with the cable provided. (Some kind of USB and power plug).Everything works fine for a while, sometimes days but then all of a sudden the two monitors and other devices connected to the docking station become disconnected. Sometimes the computer goes into a reboot after the connection is lost.Occassionally the connection will be lost then resored without me touching a thing.

I recently upgraded from an EliteBook 8570w to a ZBook 17 G2.  I had 3 external  monitors working on the 8570w with Windows 7.  My ZBook is running Windows 8.1 (64-bit), however, I can only get 2 monitors running at the same time.   My docking station is an HP Advanced Docking Station (A7E38AA), and the displays are all HP's.  1 is a Z24i connected with DisplayPort, the 2nd is a ZR2440w also connected with DisplayPort.  The 3rd is another Z24i connected with VGA.  It is the VGA display that is not working currently. I've tried updating the drivers and that didn't work, in fact since I updated the driver, the 2 working displays screens seem to flash off and back on at random intervals (almost like the display settings were changed).  I also tried to connect the VGA monitor directly to the VGA port on the laptop and did not get any results. The 3rd monitor is simply just not being detected.  If I look at the NVida Control Panel, it is only showing the 2 displays, as does the Windows Display Settings.   Any ideas?  Is there something I am missing, or is this a Windows 8.1

A:ZBook 17 G3 with 3 external monitors and Advanced Dock

Hi psubsee2002, Can we test the VGA input of the monitor and VGA cable to make sure they are not the root cause. I would like you to get a known working VGA cable and a knonw wokring monitor. If the VGA input of the monior and VGA cable is good, pleas try the following: Go into BIOS -> Advanced -> Device Confirugation -> Disable "Hybrid Graphic." By doing this, it will only allow the unit to use your Nvidia video card rather than your onboard Intel graphic and Nvidia. Since you're connecting to multiple monitors, lets use the Nvidia graphic which can handle graphic at better rate.  Thank you, -Tenzin

I could use a little help solving this problem. I purchased a removable hard drive that I patitioned to save my master hard drive image with Norton Ghost. Well I now have the image on what I will call the G: drive and removed the IDE ribbon from the master hard drive and pluged into the removable hard drive hoping it would boot and this would be all over but when I boot I get a message NTLDR is missing. Am I missing something here?

A:Docking Station

I have plenty of these docks in my company, and have had a few god bad. That would explain the LAN net working, but your wireless and air card shouldn't be affected in any way. Are you saying that if you are connected to your network by wireless, and you dock your laptop...then connection drops and the card disables?
