I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I purchased my laptop on 11/6/15 from Best Buy. When it is plugged in, it works fine but the battery was not charging. Unfortunately for me, it is now 1 1/2 months out of warranty. I brought it into Best Buy to have the battery replaced and it was sent to their servicing center. I just received a call from them telling me that my issue is Not my battery but with something on the motherboard that controls how the battery charges and the entire board needs to be replaced and it is going to cost me just as much to replace it as I paid for my laptop. This is absolutely obsurd!! The laptop is only 13 months old and has never been mishandled. When making the decision to buy a new laptop, I chose HP because I had such good luck with my old one that was 10 years old. Has HP quality gone downhill? And on top of it all, when I went to submit a question about this to HP support, it comes up with my laptop being out of warranty since August 2016 which less than a 1 year warranty. Now Im left with the decision to repair my 13 month old laptop and still have no protection if something else breaks or buy a new one with protection for the same price.Read other answers

I try the HP support app incuided on my computer to do a calibration, however the battery fail the test. Yes, I did a check on the battery state; it says the battery is fine but I know that is incorrect. Anyway, I want to replace the battery but there is no infomation on how or were I should take it. At first the track pad and keyboard stopped working. THEN one of the USB ports quit working, and now it will only charge if you hold and wiggle the cord. I did buy a replacement Top cover with keyboard, and that did not solve the problem. What are my options, besides having to buy a new laptop? Can I buy a whole new/refurbished base? This works as a tablet, but I don't need just a tablet. I keep getting different answers from different people at HP, and it is frustrating to say the least.Read other answers
I recently purchased the new Split x2 on Windows 8.1. I've tried and tried unsuccessfully to display the computer on my TV via the HDMI output. The computer doesn't recognize that there's anything plugged in. Is there any way to get this to work? Thanks in advance!
Have you connected the HDMI cable between the HDMI out on the notebook and the HDMI input port on the TV? Windows key + the P key select duplicate. You may have to enter the HDTV menu to select the HDMI as the active input. Sometimes I have to do that with my own Philips HDTV.Read other 9 answers

When I use the test facility my notebook plays the test sound. I have updated to the latest version of the driver. a simple question......will a HP Pavilion 15-n034sa motherboard fit into a HP Pavilion 15-n083sa ?
help me obi-wan youre my only hope!!
Actually that's a hard question, generally its not possible to install another motherboard, sometimes it is. In this case one is an AMD platform and the other is an Intel platform, there could be tons of differences in mounting holes, physical design, clearance, connectors, heat dissipation requirements, cooling systems, etc. Laptops are not like desktops that use more standardized designs.

My HP Pavilion 500-205t was destroyed by a lightning strike. The HD is o.k. I have purchased an HP Pavilion 500-490 because the specs were very close. I want to use my 205t HD. Both computers are Core i3-4130, have 1 TB 7200 SATA 6G 3.5 HDs, same OS (Windows 7 Pro 64). My question is: can I swap them out, or do I need to get an external HD enclosure and copy the 205t to the 490? If I need the external HD enclosure, looks like aluminum would be best, but would like recommendation for one which would hold my HD.Read other answers

Good morning everybody, I have recieved a computer from my friend and he changed the OS to Win 7, however now the computer keeps crashing and I know there is a way to factory restore the computer in order to get the origional software back on it, however I can not remember how to do so. I have looked here in the forums and also can not find anything. I have done it before with my old computer which was an HP Touchsmart. If anyone knows how to do so please let me know. that would be great, in the mean time I think I would need the assistance of the HP disks that were sent with my touchsmart in order to help fix this issue, but I can not be sure. I have an HP Pavilion 500-056. I upgraded to Windows 10 about 8 months ago, and there was an issue with the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC driver. I didn't do anything with it since I was using HDMI and getting sound through my monitor. Now, I purchased a Logitech Z506 5.1 speaker system, and cannot get the driver to correct itself. I've tried updating to through Control Panel, uninstalling and reinstalling, and even had Microsoft tech support take a look at it. I get sound through the headphone jack on the front, but nothing through the jacks on the back. My PC is equipt with Beats, and I want to take advantage of the surround sound. I'm running the speakers off the headphone jack for now, but only get front right and left (no center, rear right or left, and no center). I know this is the nature of the jack. I simply need to know where I can download the driver directly and install it that way.

I am trying to fix my granddaughter computer hp pavilion dv4-1514dx, I did reinstall windows 7 and I have al kinds of errors:
After the reinstallation of windows 7, I have this message: ?No bootable device-Insert boot disk and press any key?
When I shut the computer and reboot again I get this message:
Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows in this computer, restart the installation.?
Then I restart again and this is what happens:
Application close [info] NO HDD
Hard drive test ok
Some times the computer restarts ok but then ask for administrator password
Administrator password is Clear in the bios set up
Can you help?
It sounds like something went wrong during the Windows re-installation. Since it sounds like you have installation media and this is a fresh install anyway, the first thing I would do is try installing again from the Installation DVD.Read other 12 answers
I just bought an HP Pavilion and tried to set it up. I could not get the existing monitor to work with the new hard drive. He new Pavilion does not have the same way of connecting the monitor that the old one did. I had to take it apart and put the older machine back in. Why can't I connect my monitor. The plug just won't fit.
Okay, we need more information from you, like... -PC model number (not just Pavilion, but the whole model number as a LOT of Pavilion PCs exist.)-Monitor model number and brand, or pictures of ports on the rear. It sounds like you will need to buy an adaptor which is easy enough to obtain; we just need to know which adaptor to get you.

Right mate do you have all the Quickplay software. If so all you need to do is goto Start, Computer, Devices, Hardware. At the top of the page you will see System Devices. Click it.
You will then see a window just like XP. Hit the hardware tab then scroll down to the USB line.
Once there you should see "USB composite device". Right click on it and choose Enable.
There will be a pause as the device is enabled.
You will then need to scroll up a little and find "imaging devices". Right click on "HP Webcam" and enable it.
That should sort it out. If not let us know.... Hope that helps. Peace

The computer would turn and I could hear the startup sound. Attached to a external monitor and it worked. Then I updated the AMD Graphic Drive and restarted the computer. Won't show on the external monitor and no startup sound. Can hear the fan. Removed the RAM and powered up the computer and heard the mother board beep. What's wrong with my laptop.Read other answers

I have been trying to help a friend update or correct her winxp on her HP pavilion 520w
I have a copy of my winxp cd from my dell system however I dont have the product key
code to use it. So I have tried repeatedly to reset her computer to boot from her cdrom without success. I even posted here last week and someone suggested to tap the delete
key when rebooting to change the boot sequence. I wasnt able to get it to work.
However I did accidently discover that tapping F10 brings up the Recover system on her computer. Not knowing exactly for sure if I could just correct her winxp with recoverying the whole system I turned off the computer to stop it. I have 3 questions
1) Can anyone tell me if the Recovery System on this HP model allows you to correct a current copy of your windows without reformatting?
2) Can anyone tell me how to set this HP model to reboot from the CD-rom?
3) How do I access the bios to change the boot sequence?
