Q: Yahoo!Mail got infected from hotel lobby PC, now hijacked home PC browser Zoom-in Zoom-out

Howdy, my brother! This computer is running XP Home SP2 on an Intel Core Duo HP Media Center - but it stopped has booting outside of Safe Mode. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/sty...fault/wacko.gifI allowed a computer novice friend who had been accessing his Yahoo!Mail acct from a public motel computer where he contracted a virus - without cautioning me - to access his mail from my PC. He says the virus on his Y!Mail is hardware independent - and modeled the behavior he found at the motel - i.e. when he attempts to write a new email or forward one, a script inserts nuisance text in that message. After he experienced that on my pc, web browser windows now run a script which hijacks the Zoom-in / Zoom out control and locks-up at either the zoom in or out (out is worse) because you only see a corner of the raster.I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, AdAware, and my installed Avira AntiVir Guard - none of which detected anything but cookies. I installed some new camcorder software which rebooted the system. But after the Windows start-up screen, the screen just goes BLACK and the system is unresponsive. I booted in Safe Mode with Networking, downloaded and ran HijackThis to get log. I ran Dr.WebCureIt - which detected nothing in this mode. I have timely news video for CNN iReports Independence Day coverage which I seek to transfer from my camcorder to edit on this tower - if you would please help me get it back working again. (Remember this is the Safe Mode log). How can I get a regular booted log with the corruptions to post?Thank you - from Hollywood!http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gifLogfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4Scan saved at 1:11:16 AM, on 7/3/2010Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.6001.18702)Boot mode: Safe mode with network supportRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\AAWService.exeC:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\AAWTray.exeC:\Program Files\Advanced SystemCare 3\AWC.exeC:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exeC:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exeC:\Program Files\TrendMicro\HiJackThis\HiJackThis.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exeC:\Downloads\HijackThis (1).exeR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktopR0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://att.my.yahoo.com/R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157R1" target="_blank" class="wLink">http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&a...&pf=desktopR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.localR3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have Zoom Browser EX. It has always worked well...I don't know what changed. When I upload all the photos off my memory card, I can see them on the screen however when I click on them so I can save them or get a better view of them, nothing happens.
The picture just seems to be highlighted in gray/white. It looks like I am about to select it and then nothing. If I right click I can e-mail the picture but this is not how it used to work and I don't like doing it this way.

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has familiarity with this program.

Thanks,
K

Hi,

You could try uninstalling/re-installing Zoom Browser? This might fix the bug and it's worth a try.

If you're using Windows XP you can upload the pics from your digi camera without any other software needed.

I have ZoomBrowser but uninstalled it and don't really miss it as XP's inbuilt camera software works fine.

Hi! I am having a small issue with Cannon's ZoomBrowser program. I'm working on making movies with clips and pictures. I love the program, the way that it all works, but I ran into a small problem. Saving.

When I click save it says...
"The save failed due to decrease in available memory. Decrease the save image size, or reduce the number of images you are adding to the story board, and try to save again"

I decreased all of the images size, but it still didn't save. What is the issue with this program? I'm hoping you'll tell me there is just something small wrong that I can fix. It does this with about 10 pictures and 2 30 second video clips, so its not like I have lots of images/clips in it either.
Thank You!

OK, I've checked the other threads re: Zoom Browser and have tried all the tricks and ideas, but no success. First I kept getting an error message about not being registered and now it's the wrong string or something. I've d/l'ed the newest version and it DOES NOT work. Shut down my firewall: no success. I've cleaned out my registry, clean boot, more uninstalls and re-installs and looked on line for more fixes. Even tried my other programs to see if anything else didn't work. Nope! EVERYTHING else is fine! Also, all of Canon's answers I checked into don't work. And I've also seen that I'm not the only one.

I have NO idea what the problem could be. It DID work fine until I received the latest MS updates. (I'm HIGHLY considering NEVER again receiving any more updates from Microsoft as I tend to spend more time fixing things after the updates than the updates are worth. Everything from CHKDSK going into "lets start at every boot" mode to other programs getting glitchy. (Do they even test the updates before uploading them?)

Anyway, I don't want to do a system restore because I've recently d/l'ed some important programs and - like I had to do once in the past - I don't want to explain why I have to re-register the programs. (Can't they tell it's the same computer????)

Hi,
I'm running the latest official release of Google Chrome Browser.

I have laptop with 1920x1080 display and if Chrome is set at 100% zoom, everything is too small.

When I set Chrome to 150% zoom, things look okay. The problem is that for some webpages in Chrome, 150% zoom messes up the page really bad to the point where the webpage is almost unusable (overlapping pictures, text, etc). For webpages with this problem I find that I have to either have Chrome zoomed to a multiple of 100 (so either 100% zoom, 200%, 300%, etc). The problem is that doing so makes the page obnoxiously too big or too small. I've tried different zoom related plugins to help fix this issue but nothing works.

I notice I do not have this problem with Internet Explorer. I'm able to zoom in or out without the contents of the webpage becoming jumbled.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you

A:Help with Chrome browser, zoom issues on 1920x1080 display

Unfortunately, I know of only two options, neither of which I think you will be keen to.

1) Use IE9. I have both IE9 and Chrome installed on my computer, and I prefer IE9. I mainly use Chrome for the apps you can use with it, but for general browsing I prefer IE.

2) Reduce the resolution on your computer to 1600x900. This will make everything on the screen bigger, including web pages. I know it seems suboptimal to use a lower resolution than what the screen is capable of, but the difference in picture quality is minor and it will most likely solve your issue.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Hello,

I need some help stopping the disconnecting. Its very anoying.

As the title states, my PC is disconnecting from the BT Home Wireless Hub.
It doesn't do this all the time and from what I can gather it only disconnects when downloading/uploading some amounts of data. Specifically Playing MMO's (EVE-Online, Tibia, Star Sonata, WoW) and Downloads.

Network Adapter Zoom Wireless-G USB adapter (192.168.1.64)

I have the latest drivers for this device and the hub is working fine.
The usb adapter is on a 3M Belkin USB Extension cable.
The Hub is on the other side of the house and on the second floor.

The understanding I have is that it disconnects due to low signal strength, but I have a strength of 30-40% most of the time, lowest being 10%. Link Quality always sits between 40%-100%.

Example: When I load EVE-Online Client, the client gets the status of the server cluster (online + number of players or offline, etc) This is when it starts to disconnect.

The connection just drops no matter what the link quality or signal strength. This happens constantly every 2 minutes.
Tedious solution for the random disconnection: when the ZoneAlarm Icon (my firewall) stops showing the data traffic of the connection, click Apply on the Zoom Wireless-G application. It looks like this refreshes the connection.

Parts of the setup for my PC that I cannot change.

I am not sure what this is called, but we've all seen this on TV (especially on shows like 20/20) where they take a regular picture...and as the picture is zoomed in, the subject of the photo is almost 3d, standing out from the background. How is this done? Is there a tutorial online anywhere?
I like creating photo slideshows and being able to do this would be nice...thanks!!

A:3d zoom? How?

Can't give you a step by step for a particular program, but basically you would start by duplicating the image, then cutting out the main subject.

So you have the original image on the bottom layer, and the cut-out subject on the top layer. If you do nothing else, no one would know that there are two layers, because they are identical except for the missing background in the top layer.

Apply the zoom-blur effect to the bottom layer. Now pretty much anything you do to the cut-out subject on the top layer will make it seem to pop out of the background. Lighten it. Enlarge it a bit. Add a subtle drop shadow. That's what I did to the still image attached. Because its visual properties are now different from the original image in the bottom layer, it'll just jump out at you, and it doesn't take much.

In video you can push in slowly on the cut-out subject, which is I think what they do on the tv programs.

I have reinstalled both XP and AOL. When using the internet the resolution is very small. I have tried to resolve this by adjusting the properties for Desktop without success. I hsave looked at my other laptop and find that there is a 'Zoom' button at the bottom right of the AOL screen. When I adjust the button it replicates the problem with this laptop. How do I restore the 'zoom' button/taskbar?

Hello, to enable/disable double tap zoom in browser (IE) just create this registry REG_SZ and set what you want:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\]

"DoubleTapZoom"="yes" or "no"

Can be done in HKCU if you want.

I bought a 3G modem stick so I could access the internet with my T-Mobile sim card with my laptop. I have had it for about two months and the speed I was getting was only enough to do basic searches and emails. A friend of mine has the same type of account I have with talk and total internet. When he uses his Sony Ericson to tether he get's lightning speed. The zoom modem stick is suppose to get up to 7.2mbps. I can only get like .20 download and .08 upload speed. I don't know why it is not getting even close to and average speed. What can I do to get the best speed?

On windows 7 laptop we have  has zoom feature on bottom of page, print size never changes. On this desktop window 7 zoom is on tool bar print size changes every time you go to another page.Anyway to keep it all the same, this desktop is new, mabee something has to be set. Thanks, Paul

A:ZOOM FEATURE

First of all - Welcome to BC !

Can you give some details of these computers - make, model and so on - it gives us something to go on.

When you say 'the bottom of the page', do you mean the task bar on the desktop, or at the bottom inside one application or another?  I am not familiar with a zoom control on the task bar but a lot of applications, from image viewers through graphics software to MS Office, have a zoom function. But this almost always uniformly expands or shrinks the complete page, text and everything included. And, more to the point, the zoom control goes wherever the designer of the software decided to put it.

We have a computer with a dual vga video card (nvidia). One going to monitor, and the other going to projector. It works fine, except the projector is mounted to the ceiling and cannot be easily moved, and we want the image a little smaller to fit within the border of a smart board. The projector is already zoomed out all the way. Are there any software solutions available that might be able to zoom? Thanks.

Often when I start my computer my CPU usage reaches 100% even though no programs are running. When I go to reboot it, an "End Program - Zoom In" window pops up and I have to click on OK to end the program for the computer to shut down. It seems obvious to me that this "Zoom In" program is using all my resources but I don't know how to keep it from starting - and it doesn't always start.

My computer is an Acer TravelMate 2300 with an Intel Celeron 1500 Mhz processor and 1.23 Ghz of RAM, Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I have AVG anti virus and run AVG Spyware, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot regularly.

Thanks

A:CPU 100% and End Program - Zoom In

Either search for that program and option to start at boot-up, or this small program will work great to control what starts up; http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml , and select the version that installs into the Control Panel, (listed first), rather than the stand alone version. I find this really helpful as compared to the built in msconfig.exe

to clarify images? lol, they do but not really to the extent of the show, they make it seem like a person having a seizer could take a picture with their cell phone and the fbi could just clean it up and its all good lol...

i think its more of image editors that can clean it up really well, like the people they have getting cracked open and broken hard drive information. they have specialists at different things, they have things we don't know exist, well at least thats all my uncle says.... so i have no idea what that could mean
