Q: HP spectre x360 stuck in sleep mode. Power button led and ch...

I left my laptop alone for a few minutes and when I came back, my display was off and the power led was blinking. I tried [ressing the power button, but the screen did not turn on and power led continued to blink. At the time the charging led was white, meaning the battery was fully charged. I waited a few days to see if draining the battery would allow me to turn the commputer on but that hasn't worked. Now, when I plug the adapter in and try to turn on the laptop, the charging led (now orange, not white) and the power led blink on and off simultaneously. I tried plugging the display to an external monitor too and since the computer has been stuck in this mode, nothing has shown up. I have viewed the HP page for hard reset but it did not work for me: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768 I have also viewed the HP led flashing page and tried the steps. They did not work: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01732674 Can anyone help me fix this asap? This laptop was going strong and I've taken really good care of it. I don't see why this computer should die on me after using it for 4 months.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I tilt the screen back, my computer sometimes goes into sleep mode, or at least it appears to be in sleep mode (the screen goes blank and the power button flashes).  To get it back on I usually have to press and hold the power button until it completely shuts down, then reboot.  It appears to happen when the hinges get bent in a certain way.  Is there a cable or ribbon that runs across the back of the unit that might be getting pinched?  How can I troubleshoot this and get it fixed?

I just bought my HP Pavilion X360 not even 30 days ago.  I had it on the ottoman and my dog jumped up and knock it off. It fell a decent distance, but still worked fine. I've been using it without any problems, until now. The battery drained, so I went to plug in the power cord and then proceeded to press the power button and it got stuck. I tried everything to get it to depress. Initially, I thought it would have very little to do with the fall,  because it was working fine until I had to recharge and power up. Sadly, I can get nothing to turn on and the button still appears NOT to have depressed (still stuck).  Can anyone help me with this? I don't honestly know if it was due to the fall, or if this is just an issue with HP Pavilion laptops. Can someone also advise on the cost to replace this button?  Thank you!

Hello,
After putting my computer into sleep mode last night, I was unable to get it to boot into windows this morning. When i pressed the power buttong, everything turn on and working (all fans are functional, gpu power led is on, all hard drives & cd drives are functional. But the problem is, the screen to my monitor is blank. I also noticed that my usb aren't working (mouse connection light isn't on). I tried a soft power off by holding down the power button but no luck. The system does not turn off no matter how long I hold it. The only way to turn it off is by pulling the power supply cord or turning the power supply switch off.

A:Windows 7 blank screen after sleep mode (unable to power off with power button)

Hello,

Is it possible that you can test with another compatible PSU? I would strongly suggest doing so.

Also try the following steps:
?Make sure that the (internal) speaker is connected to the motherboard
?Remove all memory and attempt to boot the PC
?You should get the no memory beep errors

If the Power Supply is in working order and no beeps are present then it can be indicative of a faulty motherboard.

For troubleshooting purposes it may be a good idea to remove the components from the case and bench test to rule out a short.

Hi. I pressed the power button once on my laptop to put it in sleep mode. Is this a safe thing to do?

A:Power button sleep mode question

Hi -
Do you mean it was an accident, or deliberate ??
I have never used Sleep Mode on any computer that I have owned -
The safest thing I always think, is to turn the computer Off once you are actually finished with it, or just let it go to screen saver if I am away for an hour -

Your computer / laptop can always wake from sleep mode in its storage bag if there is a scan scheduled for the Antivirus or similar.
If it is in a storage bag, the temperatures can get too high due to lack of ventilation and create problems.

My desktop is switched off at the wall every night, or if I am not using it for the day. The same for my laptop, powered off and left off unless it is wanted.

Since it only takes 30 to 60 seconds to power up I see no need for Sleep or Hibernation mode at any time -

I hope this covers your question -

Hello - I have about 50 Lenovo P series Laptops running in our comapny and within the last month, 2 - P51S same make and model has had power up issues.Users reported that they "control +alt+ Del" to lock out their laptops and when then returned the laptop was DOA. The signs are that the power power light is flashing every second ( Indicates in sleep mode)- FAn attempts to start but does not.I have tried plugging in different AC power adapter, disconnecting both external and internal batteries. No change. I have openned laptop and disconnected SSD, Wireless card, ROM battery, fan, speakers etc testing and no difference. I have tried to discharge by removing all power and and tapping power button 10 times and hold in for 30 seconds. No change.  I find it strange that 2 identical laptops would suffer the same issue at the same time?? Looking on internet - this looks like hugh problem that maybe linked to the motherboard issues on this make and model.I have called Lenovo and since out of warranty - sorry. So please help if anyone has any other ideas to try. Thank you in advance

Yesterday my laptop suddenly refuse to get power from AC source. Following the instructions on the web, I first assumed AC adapter faillure. But the adapter works well. The tiny LED next to the power inlet went off, although Windows catches the AC adapter driver and seems working. The last job I did before the problem was updating the BIOS, which is instructed by HP Support program.  I bring it to the service center, but they refused to take it since it's not a Korean-sold model (I bought it from the other country).Quite annoying because they did not take any questions at all, just repeating 'we don't accept that, go away'. Can anybody give me a solution? The battery is only half-filled, and after it dries I think it would be turned into a piece of brick.I really need a help. I've had several calls with support on this issue and I'm getting conflicting answers (hardware issue to x360 does not have these features) and would love to hear from users alike. I use my laptop plugged in most of the times with external docking station, monitor, keyboard and mouse.  And I have my laptop lid closed so I can pretty much hide the laptop under my desk.  Windows 10 setting is fairly simple where I disabled "sleep" when lid closed.  Issue is that the sleep button does not work when the lid is closed.  I cannot put the computer to sleep or awake by pressing the button.  It does nothing. Also, when the laptop is sleeping (flashing white light on the sleep button) I cannot awake the laptop via external mouse or keyboard.  Nothing.  The only way to awake the laptop is to open the lid, which I have to remove the laptop from my desk slot to do and put it back in once it's awake.  I changed windows setting to allow awaking laptop via mouse/keyboard, disabled docking hub power saving, etc etc. The sleep button by the way works when the laptop is in tablet mode.  But still no external mouse/keyboard awake. Soooo.... 1. Is this issue isolated or do ALL Spectre x360 have the same limitation?2. If you have had this issue and got it fixed, please share your findings/experience.  Ideally, if the power button is disabled by design, then fine, but I would still like to awake the laptop by ... Hello! I just got a Refurbished HP Spectre X360 (late 2016 model) with 512 GB and 16 GB RAM. I love it! The fan is quiet enough, and the keyboard is fantastic. I was choosing between this laptop and the Dell XPS 13, and I'm so glad I chose it.  I do, however, have one small problem. There are some stuck pixels on the screen, and when I gently press them with a pencil (coated with a microfiber cloth), they move! They jump a few pixels to the left or right. I've fixed stuck pixels before with UD Pixel and with the physical nudge, but I've never seen anything like this! Is there anything I can do? While you're at it, do you have any other recommendations for using this new PC? Much appreciated,  Casey

So like many others on this forum my HP Spectre x360 13-4106na has no power after 10 months. Last night I shut down my laptop and turned off the power at the wall. Today when I turned it on it would not start and the Power LED is not on, even though it is plugged into the mains. I have tried disconnecting all external devices/cables and have also bought a replacement Power Adapter but still nothing. I am now out of pocket by 39.99 for the new Power Adapter from Maplins and worse still I can't open an issue/ticket online as I have the HP 3 year Pickup and Return Notebook Service as this can only be done between the hours of 08:30 and 18:00 by  phone with one of their engineers. I have experienced the issue with the tracker as well as the Intel Graphics resetting although I had up until now put this down to Windows 10.  HP what is going on? I will be keeping a track on how the replacement process goes especially as I have the extended warranty and the laptop is still not yet a year old and will provide updates. Jonathan

I purchased my Spectre x360 in July 2015 planning on buying a high end piece of reliable hardware.  I have had no problems with it (other than a trackpad issue that was patched soon after launch).  Fast forward to today.  I go to power it on and nothing happens.  It had been charging overnight so the battery should be good.  I check the power adapter is putting out correct voltage and attempt to do a hard reset.  Nothing.  Since the unit is out of warranty I open it up and pull the battery plug, hold power button, and then plug the battery and adapter back in.  Still nothing.  I then notice some fried caps and a fried IC under one of the stickers of the unit.  After some googling I see lots of people with this problem.  I go to contact tech support and find out I could be charged for the phone call!  Besides I don't feel like running through the "turn it off and back on" checklist when I can see the problem with my eyes.  Further googling has revealed this is a rather common problem and replacement costs are pushing the costs of the unit.  I am very dissatisfied for having something I paid over $1000 for and it not work in this short of period of time.  I put off making my laptop purchase for this thing to be released!  I recommended it to people  I am hoping someone from support sees this and can help me get a replacement board since this isn't a normal wear and tear issue. The power port on my Spectre laptop (Product No: K6C18AV) just stopped working. The power cord is plugged in but it is not supplying power to the laptop and is not charging the battery. After doing some reading on these forums, it seems others have had a similar problem. I bought the laptop in April 2015. Warranty expired April 2016. I called HP support. They said the motherboard needs to be replaced. Minimum charge $600. Fudge, I might as well buy a new laptop.   So Questions:-Has anyone had luck replacing the DC power port inside the laptop? Hello All, There was one similar thread, but it seemed to be closed. When the power is plugged in on this new machine (7th Gen CPU / etc., but not the new model with the pen), there is a very faint static noise (possibly to the speakers). With the power disconnected it is not audible. Anyone else hear this?  FYI, it can be heard when the system is in sleep - not just when it is on.  It does not sound like "coil whine" - it could be bad grounding or something like that. R

I have a brand new Spectre x360 (13-w023dx). When it's in sleep mode, the power LED blinks. What I am realizing is that when the power LED is illuminated during its blink cycle, I hear a high pitch tone.  It's super high pitch and hard to hear outside of a silent room, but still can be irritating.  I have seen other electronics in my life do this, but didn't know if it's a known issue or just mine. Also, if there's any potential of a BIOS adjustment that could fix it (perhaps changing the power going to the LED or something).  Thanks. [edit] I am realizing it only does this when plugged in/charging.  If I unplug it, the power LED still blinks in sleep mode, but there's no high pitch sound. Tried changing to a different wall outlet, just in case, but that didn't make any change. Still had the same high putch noise.

I have an HP Spectre x360 13" laptop (X7V20UA#ABA) with USB C ports. The charger supplied with the laptop plugs into one of the USB-C ports. I want to get another charger but nobody seems able to tell me what will work with it. I have tried HP Shopping and Best Buy. Also looked on the nearly unusable hp parts website. The PC seems only to work with HP USB-C chargers and gives an error message with other brands (I have only tried Kensington USB-C dock but other online posts say there is a problem with other brands). Is there any charger I can use that will enable the impressive fast-charge feature of this PC? Can I buy another one from HP?  Thanks!

A:extra power adapter for HP Spectre x360 13" X7V20UA#ABA?

Hi, Its part number is: 860210-850, which is an AC power adapter (45W, wall mount) - 3-wire, with USB type-C connector, nPFC but not available in HP Part Store. Please try    https://compupartsolutions.com/shop/ac-adapter/860210-850-hp-13-w033tu-gnrc-45w-wallmnt-usb-c-3pin-g... or try Amazon. Note:  Many products use same adapter. Regards.

The power button broke and I can't power on or off without opening the case. It is powered on and I'm just putting it to sleep. The warranty for this computer is expired in January 2016. I am wondering if there is somewhere I can order the power button to replace it myself. I only need the button, not the power button board.

A:HP Envy 15 x360 power button broke - can't power on or off

Sure. What is the complete product number or product name of your HP Envy 15 x360 notebook?  So far you have only partially identified your HP product as being in a particular model series.  Look on the bottom of your notebook for the product number. It is the the following form xxxxx#xxx.  x= an alphanumeric character. Once you provide that product number I will be able to get you abn HP part number for the power button. Sorry to hear that your notebook isn't useable for now.

Hi every one,
Recently I purchased new PC,
After installing windows XP Pro SP3 I found that there is a missing button in Power option properties. The missing button is (When I press the sleep button on my computer), I can find only (When I press the power button on my computer).
My system configuration is as follow
Mother board Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Rev 1.1
My graphic card is ATI Radeon HD 5670
Windows XP SP3
RAM 4Gb Kingston DDRII
CPU Core 2 Quad 2.66 GHz
It worth saying that I can shutdown, hibernate or put my PC into sleep mode, so the functions are working but only the button is missing.
I will appreciated very much if some can advise me how to restore the missing button. Is there some option in BIOS that will enable this button?
I contacted Gigabyte customer support, but they directed me to Microsoft, I also contacted ATI but they directed me to Microsoft or BIOS settings. In my BIOS I can't find any option that may affect this button. Any advise will be appreciated
Best regards

A:[SOLVED] Button of (When I press sleep button) is not available in my Power option pr

Does the case actually have a separate Sleep Button? I suspect it's not even connected, as the motherboard manual doesn't show a connection for a Sleep Button, only a Power Button.
Windows Power Options won't list it, as it doesn't exist.

If you have a Sleep Button on the keyboard, it might not be listed in Power Options either. That would be up to the Driver software to add that option. You may have to use the software that came with the keyboard to configure the sleep button on the keyboard.
