Help with form auto fill

Q: Help with form auto fill

Hi there,
I'm looking for some help (actually a lot) in form letters auto fill in word, here is what I need to achieve.

I have a standard letter that I send out, It's not a mailing list but rather a lot of clients most one off's.
I have seen macros where when loading a document, pop-up windows comes up and asks for details (name, address, or whatever) when the steps are finished it would load the standard letter template, fill in the blanks with the details entered in the pop-up screens and be ready to be printed or e-mailed.
Is there a tutorial somewhere that cover this or if someone could help I would really appreciate.

( Using Word 2007 )

Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just google "Microsoft Word Form Fields" and you should get plenty of hits. Here is a VBA solution that I provided to someone previously in the forums that sounds like it is similar to what you want. Take a look and see if this is similar to what you want and I can modify the code to suit your needs.

http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/635671-solved-how-do-you-do-2.html

You may also want to search the net for how to do a mail merge since this sounds similar to what you want as well.

Hope this is the right forum for this question

Hi,

I'm creating a questionnaire form in Word 2010 with about 5 or 6 fields. Using the developer tab I have been able to set all of these up fine and its working however I would like one field to be automatically populated with the date of that particular day.

Currently the date field uses the date form option so you are given a drop down calender to choose the date or the option of selecting 'Today'. I would like this field to automatically show the 'today' date and then give the option of changing it if necessary.

Is this possible?

Thanks

O...Kay! I need help with a now, 4 year old Access database. Many thanks to OBP, I have cleaned up and worked out kinks that really has made keeping up with parent involvement in the schools much easier. Now that I have worked with the database, I am in need of some advice regarding a form that is needed now. This is a form that is used to enter just basic demographic information on a parent who calls to sign-up to be notified of special events.

The form is simple, but this is where I cannot quite make it work. The unique identifier of the record is the school's location code number. I have tried to find out how to fabricate the form so that when this location code is entered, the associated fields (school name, type, and region) will auto fill in. I'm sure that this may seem trivial to the experts, but I am once again STUMPED. Many thanks in advance for any assistance that I may be given.

I have a nice little database that I set up to track donations of items to our organization. The primary table tracks the donor information: name, address, etc. (main form) and I have created a related table that tracks the date of donation and items donated utilizing a sub-form. Thanks to the fine help I received here I was able to relate these tables using a “Link_ID” field and it has worked nicely. (One donor could have multiple donations.)

Now, I’d like to enhance things a little bit. When I enter donor information into the main form and then go to the sub-form for the donation information, I’d like the business_name field to autofill as I start to type. Now, I know this can be done because most commercial databases have this function. Quicken is one that comes to mind. I know it has to pull this information from somewhere, I just need to know how to get it to work!

I have been unsuccessful finding any pertinent information on an “autofill” field in some sources. (I really don’t want a drop-down list box because this could potentially get too large.)

TIA.

A:Auto complete or Auto Fill field in Access?

Yes, well, unfortunately, in Access, the drop-down list is the only type of control that uses auto-fill, unless you want to use a text box and code (there's an example of that in the developer's handbook, but it's complicated).

No matter how big your list is, if you sort the underlying query alphabetically on company name, it will still autofill, and you can even build a not-in-list response to add new customers...

Make sure the auto-expand property of the drop-down (or combo) control is set to Yes, and you'll see that you never even have to drop down the list...

I am not sure this is possible, but I thought I would try it here. I have a form in Word, I can convert to a PDF. I need to send it to lots of people via email and a large facebook group. They need to fill in information on the PDF and email it back to me. I am not sure they can do that in Adobe reader. I know they all don't have Microsoft Word.

Any ideas on how to get this done? I thought about posting the form and having them print it and mail it, but trying to make it easy on them and quick for me to get the forms back.

Thanks.

If it is a fillable Acrobat form I don't believe YOU will have any control over the output. The person that made the form only has control over font and color. You could try emailing the completed form to yourself.

We use acrobat to create fillable forms. There has always been one problem, we have never been able to save the form with all the fields filled in. If you click on "File/Save" or "File/Save as" a blank form is saved.

We would also like to have an e-mail link that would send the completed PDF. Instead another box comes up and forces you to save the data and sent that as an attachment. Most of our users are technical enough to figure out how to import the data. Or, they are too busy and just want to see a completed form.

I read something about a "rights-enabled PDF Document" - however, I can't figure out how to get a document set up to be "rights-enabled". Any suggestions?

No. I don't think Adobe allows it. Period. Use Word forms or online web forms. Sorry.

I am trying to make a batch file that will eventually bring up a custom made program, I could have sworn there was a way to auto populate the forms. As in

Program wants to know where to search (path) and what to search for

I want to know if/how to fill in those 2 fields with a path (C:/etc/etc) and what I want to search for.

Is this possible?

A:Batch Form Fill

If your program supports command line parameters you can load it with Batch and supply those options. If you're programming the software yourself, you should be able to make this happen.

However batch basically just doesn't do scripting that requires a user interface, including pressing buttons or typing in a text box. There are some scripting systems that do a better job of this. Autoit and autohotkey are commonly recommended examples here, though I haven't used either myself.

Also, there are several sites at irs.gov where you can provide your information and they will prepare your return. How secure is this?
I have prepared our returns and know which forms to use etc., but it would be nice to have it prepared by one of these services to double check my calculations. I am just a little leary of putting this information out there. Am I being paranoid?

(i.e for email, there's a listing for [email protected], that I used for a spoof). How can I remove JUST THE OLD ONES? I want to keep the cookies active and use what is my normal (80%ish) of the time entries. I looked in MS knowledgebase but it just talked about clearing history and cookies. I know that, I just want to clear SOME entries. Thanks in advance for your help on this matter.

Besides the lease, there are multiple forms that we fill out and have the tenant sign. Most of these forms use the same information such as tenant name, birthdate, property address, etc. Rather than typing the same information multiple times, i am envisioning a form into which i will enter all of the information, and will then take that information that i entered, and populate each of the forms. Can someone here educate me on how to accomplish that? Thanks in advance.

I have a standard form that must be filled out & mailed for each patient in order for me to get reimbursed. I have scanned the form to a jpg format & would like to be able to "fill in the blanks" with Word 2007, print out the completed form & retain a copy on my PC for each patient. Can that be done? This would save me a lot of trouble.
Any help appreciated.

A:Word 2007 how do I fill in & print a form?

Hi Ron,
It can't be done if you've scanned it as just a picture, but if you're able to scan it with optical character recognition (OCR) then you might be able to copy it into Word or edit the jpg itself. You can download IrfanView, which is a free graphics program and it has an OCR plugin. But if the form is not very long or very complicated, you'll probably have better luck just recreating it in Word. OCR can be unreliable depending on the quality of the scan and you may do just as much work cleaning it up as you would retyping it. And of course the best option would be if you could contact the form originator and get it electronically. They may already have it in Word which would save a ton of time. Hope that helps.

I use Netscape Navigator (8.0.4) and I can't stand the auto fill feature--actually I am not even sure if that's what it's called. But, for instance, when I type a search on Google, the search bar pops down with the billions of search phrases that I've typed before. I've hunted around in the Option menu way too many times, but I have never found a way to turn that feature off. Obviously I am missing it somewhere. Any help? Thanks.

First of all, I'm a beginner in VB.Net 2003.

What I want to do is fill in the fields of an external website with data from a local database. A bit like Roboform or the "autofill" in Google toolbar, but linked to a database.

I have written the search and record retrieval part so upon entering a reference number, the relevent details come up. I now need to get these details into the relevent fields on the external website.

This is a completely external website, over which I have no control but I do need to fill in the form over 100 times a week.

Hi.

I have a form set up in a table and I would like to have the text fit into the cell and not go below the cell. I have set the maximum length of the field but this does not really work for me. I have set the row to an exact height so it does not expand. It does not limit the number returns. So, you can hit the return key the text disappears in the cell (goes beyond the length of the cell)

Setting the maximum length does not allow be to fill the cell completely. If you type all caps the maximum length maybe 100. If set to this then all lower case letters will only fill half the cell.

Is there a way to only allow the user to type in the fixed sized table cell and fill it up completely without the text disappearing beyond the border of the table cell using VBA or some function in Word?

I think what I am looking for would be considered a macro?

What I need to do is:

1) An email comes in to outlook with data that is always formatted the same way. (ie Name: <name> Email: <email> etc)

2) I need to be able to easily parse this information, and have it entered into a form on our website.

These are sample requests that are sent through a form on our site. The site we enter the requests into is actually a different site so we don't database them or anything. Currently we copy / paste all the info line for line into the form and submit it. This gets very time consuming.

A friend is doing something similar but he has a Mac and is using something called AppleScript. I am on a PC and really don't even know where to begin.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly ANY help you may be able to provide!

Good evening,

was trying to find a piece of VBA code online for the following problem, found pieces for some single aspects, but cannot make it work. Have excel and word 2013.

I have a excel spreadsheets which is my master database. Every row (90 in total) lists one data set with up to 40 columns, but I will not need all informations. The first colum has a checkbox which I would like to use to chose which data set to work on to populate the word doc (working with multiple ticked would be great as well).

In addition I have multiple word documents, where I added text form fields which should then be filled with the informations from the excel sheet (I will not need all 40 columns for every word doc).

The code needs:

(1) To open the correct word document

(2) Fill in automatically the present date at a defined location in the word doc styled Jan 31st, 2018 with the correct st, nd or th.

(3) Fill in the specified data in the text form fields

(4) One column in my spreadsheet is a drop down menu, is there a difference if this content is transfered to the text form field?

(5) Some of the cells in the excel may be empty, how to make sure the transfer is not hicking-up?

(6) Save for every data set ticked a document (word and pdf) in a distinct location with some information from the data set contained in the name of the file.

I would be so greatful, If one of you can help here, guess for you this is done in a split of a minute...

Greetings

In Office XP, I need to make a template or form or something (unsure of correct MS term) to enter client data, name address b-day etc. Then, whenever they come in, want to take that saved data and have it entered to a preprinted, normally hand filled , company form. The company form is 2 page carbonless copy so a dot matrix printer will have to be resurrected to print the data to the form. New dates are all that would be new info. All data is presented horizontally except a few items that are on right edge at 90 degrees to normal portrait orientation. Word? Excel? I have a copy of Office XP for Dummies but can't find what I need. I don't have a MS Office book. Software came as disk only. I probably would have an easier time if I new the correct terminology.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Steve

A:In OFFICEXP How do I Enter Data Base and Have it fill a Pre Printed Form?

Steve, it seems to me that the easiest way to accomplish this would be using Acess (assuming that you have the Pro version of Office XP -- the Standard version lacks this program.)

With Access, you can create a database containing all of the fields of raw information that you need to enter, an onscreen form for data entry that closely resembles the preprinted form needing to be filled in, and a printed report format that duplicates the layout of the preprinted form (or could possibly be used to actually print the data in the corresponding locations of the actual preprinted form.) Access also allows you to share the information you create with Word or Excel if needed. All of the data tables, reports, and data entry forms are objects that are contained in the Access file itself.

Lacking Access, Excel could be used to hold the data (spreadsheet programs are often used as database programs), but you would not have the same flexibility as a dedicated database program like Access provides. There is a great deal of info in the Office XP program help files -- the hard part is just in sifting through to find the information that really applies to you. Picking up an Access 2002 (or Excel 2002) for Dummies would give you more detailed information than the general Office XP book would -- I bought Access 97 for Dummies years ago and still refer to it often.

A:How to delete auto fill

That's controlled through the browser's own settings. In the menu bar>Tools>Options open up the Privacy tab and simply change the "remember history" item to the "never remember history" alternate from the dropdown list of choices. That should remedy that for you.

Note how that looks in the image here.

Good Day,

I am creating a template to be used in our operating procedures. I currently use the Autofill to about 200 rows to ensure that I capture all the fluctuation in the amount of data which are entered daily. Is there a macro I can write that will auto fill to the last row which has data? Instead of me updating the Range each time or putting in excess rows, etc. eg.

Code:

Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("H6:H200")
Range("H6:H200").Select

A:Solved: Auto fill to last row with value

By auto-fill I am referring to the pop-up box that asks "Do you want IE to remember this user name and password?".
It's a great feature but it only appears once in a while and never when I want it.
Is there a way to call up this device? On demand?

A:Auto-fill question

This is related to the 'cookies' dropped on your hard drive when you are visiting sites. 'Tools' 'Options' 'Security' in Firefox is where you set it to 'Remember passwords for sites'. Other browser have the same tool.

Thing is though that some web sites, mainly those where the address starts with 'https' delete their cookies when you exit the site. So those usernames and passwords aren't saved. Sites like your broker or your bank and other secure institutions.

Are those types of sites where it's not filling in the blanks for you? Or is it more general?
