Preferred Solution: Remove Microsoft Share Point

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Good Afternoon,

I am active duty in the USAF and my squadron has recently stated pushing us to use Microsoft SharePoint more and more. This may be an AF wide trend, not sure; the point is I have no idea what SharePoint is, what it does, how it works, or what capabilities and advantages it might bring to me and my co-workers. I was looking for someone who might be able to answer these questions, and might also be able to discuss some of the disadvantages of SharePoint. Also, are there other programs similar to SharePoint that can do the same things, or possibly have even greater capabilities. Thank you very much for you time and help.

Hello.

A sbscription has been created for a report. When selecting "Manage subscription" option from the down arrow, the page doesn't load. The only way is to delete and recreate it. It runs fine, then when you want to manage it again, the page doesn't load or it takes a very long time to load (if at all).

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Some additional information:

2. We both receive the same error when trying to add users.
3. We are using SharePoint 3.0
4. Under the "Manage Users" page the people we are trying add do not show up as users.

Do I have any alternatives? Is there a Share Point site that can be accessed for practice purposes? I'm open to suggestions. HELP!!

hi all
first i am sorry i am so much biggenr in the networking issues
anyways

i have an access point device , and i have windows 7 on my computer , can i share my files through my the wireless so i can access to them by using another computer having a wireless adapter ?

if yes so how can i do that

i hope someone helps me

thank you

A:can i use an ACCESS POINT device to share my files through a network ?

If you have computers on the same local area network (LAN) they can communicate with each other. If you connect the computers to the ACCESS POINT device (I assume this is a wireless access point, or WAP) the computers can file share.

Short description for Windows 7 and 8 file and printer sharing:

Go into the Network and Sharing Center from the Control Panel or from the Network icon in the Notification Area. Your network must be designated 'Private' (or 'Home' or 'Work'). Click on Change advanced sharing settings. In the Private or Home or Work section you can configure File and printer sharing, Public folder sharing, and Password protected sharing.

You may want to change the Workgroup name. To check it or change it right click on "Computer" and select "Properties."

You must uninstall or properly configure any non-windows firewall (security suite).

Trying to remove from a friend's computer, have access to user logon via their sign in (standard user) however their son's sign on is the administrator and he cannot remember his password...thus every removal tool I've attempted to install is thwarted by the request for the administrator password. I killed the process to recover the desktop and deleted the obvious registry keys. Before I put ya'll through the whole hijack logs and such I figured I'd ask if there's a way to build a disk to run any cleaners on start-up or from a command prompt. Microsoft pretty much says that loss of admin passwords require OS reinstall, would like to avoid that pain if possible. Thanks for any advice.

Sounds most likely that you are trying to open a file that has been compressed in order to send it to you. First, check the 'properties' of the file, if it ends in .zip or .rar, then it needs to be 'uncompressed' first, then Powerpoint can open it.

The 'old' (Office 2003) Powerpoint save type was .ppt, now with Office 2007 & 2010, the 'default' save type is '.pptx', (and several others also).
There is a list of file types that will open in MS Office programs at;

Really need more information to be able to help.
What is the make/model and operating system of each computer?
How are they connected?
Do the compuiters show in each other's Network display?
Can the computers ping each other by IP Address and Computer Name?

This is a general trouble shooting guide for simple problems.

Each computer must have a Unique Name.
Each computer must have at least one user account with a password. Vista will not share with computers that do not.
All the computers must have the same Work Group Name.
File Sharing must be turned on for each computer.
Firewalls must be configured to allow sharing.
To Turn on File Sharing.
For the XP computers go to Control Panel, Network Setup wizard.
Click next.
Click next.
If you are running wireless, the ethernet card will be listed. If connected by ethernet and you have a wireless card it will be listed.
For right now, just select "Ignore the listed connections".
Click next.
Select "This computer connects to the internet by a residential gateway".
Click next.
Enter the Work Group name.
Click next.
Select "Turn on File and printer Sharing"
Click next.
Verify all the information is correct.
Click next.
I would select "Just finish the wizard" and not make a disc. It take about the same amount of time to run the disc as to manually enter the data.
Click next.
Click finish.

You could go to Control Panel, Default Programs, Associate a file type or protocol with a program. Scroll down to pps and make sure it's assosciated with Microsoft Office Power Point and the current Default is Microsoft Office PowerPoint. If not go to top right and click on Change program and select where power point is installed.

Try downloading Openoffice - http://www.openoffice.org/

It can open MS PPoint presentations, from there I would imagine you should be able to save the images - if you had Microsoft Office installed, 'Save as Web Page' (HTML), would be the way to extract the images easily.

or tell your dad to send them in another, more accessible, format, like a zip archive!

I am trying to figure out the following with regards to cached share credentials.  I am trying to gain a better understanding of windows credential caching.  Help is appreciated
Scenario:
From my workstation I attempt to connect to a hidden share on a server called \\server1\share$.  I am not mapping this, but merely attempting to open it via the UNC path using run.
I open run and type the name of share \\server1\share$.  The account I am logged into my computer as does not have permissions to access the hidden share so I am then prompted for credentials.  I enter an account that does have permissions and
I can now access the share.  File explorer opens the share and I can browse the files.
Now I close the file explorer and if I then re-open the share it lets me in without prompting for credentials.
Windows has cached the credentials that were used to connect to the share.
What i have done so far to remove:
I have checked and done the following:  checked windows credential manager (the account is not listed anywhere), run rundll32.exe
keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr (the account is not listed),  run cmdkey /list (the account is not listed), run klist (the account is not listed), run klist purge (purges everything, but can
still connect to share without prompt), run net session (nothing listed), net use (again nothing), checked the registry key HKLM\SECURITY\CACHE\  (nothing other than the ... Read more

A:Cached SMB(UNC) share credentials - how to remove?

Hi mac1234,
I have noticed the symptom, too. I tried to capture the related registry key or any related file without success.
According to my understanding, the cached credentials is based on the user session and it is cached in the memory. So it is not available to clear them manually. The only way is to log out and login again to clear the cache.
Actually this configuration is reasonable, it is convenient for users to access the share and the user should be always available to access the share if he knew the credentials of the share.

Hello, again. I need some info re creating restore points. In the HP Support Assistant, under updates and tune-up-change tune-up tasks, should the "set restore point" be turned on to "yes" when a tune-up is scheduled? I understand that windows 8.1 automatically sets restore points, but I don't know how or when or where the restore point info is stored. Is the HP Support Assistant "set restore points" the actual method used by Microsoft or an additional option?

Thank you.

No.

First off, I have an HP Pavilion Desktop (500-075) purchased 12/2014 so I have some first hand experience. It was preloaded with 8.0 and upgraded to 8.1 and all the other current updates.

IMHO, HP Support Assistant can be a problematic program. ( I will get to that later.)

I don't believe MS uses the HP Framework for any of the MS service routines. If I were you I would turn off all the HP tune-up tasks because they would be redundant, the MS maintenance tasks do everything and more. Anything HP Support Assistant does can be easily performed manually as well. Personally I don't want the HP setting Restore Points and especially defragging the disks. It seems every add-on third party program wants to service your computer. While windows will automatically create some Restore Points under certain conditions I prefer to create them manually so it's always under my control. At any time you can see all the stored Restore Points as well as set the overall storage space for Restore Points by going to the Recovery Section and select Restore Point configuration.

Back to HP Support Assistant: Support Assistant is a rather complex piece of software that I wish was never installed. Check out the HP Support Forum, many HP users have difficulty uninstalling the program and/or gettin... Read more

Microsoft Could Bring ?Ads? in Windows 10 Share Menu

One of the changes coming in the Windows 10 Creators Update due in April is a brand-new share menu, which opens right in the center of the screen instead of the sidebar as it happens in the existing stable OS builds.

But while the revamped share menu isn?t exactly surprising since we?ve seen it several times already, having app recommendations in it certainly is.

As gHacks reports (with a screenshot posted on Twitter by Vitor Mikaelson), the share menu will include not only the typical apps you can use for sharing content, but also some other apps that you don?t have installed on your PC. And which were never installed, actually.

Some people call these ?ads,? Microsoft itself calls them app recommendations, and the chances are that you?ll be able to disable them from the Settings screen in Windows 10. But without a doubt, all these recommendations could become a little bit too intrusive, especially because they would thus show up on the lock screen, in the Start menu, and in the share menu.

Turning app recommendations off will still be possible
Clicking one of the app recommendations in any of these Windows 10 screens will get users to the Store product listing, allowing them to instantly start the install process.

In the screenshot included in the article, the Box app is the one that?s recommended by Windows 10 and which could be used for sharing, so clicking it opens the Windows Store right to th... Read more

The printer is an HP PSC 1510 that for some reason wouldn't load the driver properly. It fails everytime. I tried a different approach to installing the printer and got the printer to work but the but the printer that had the botched install still shows
up in the devices and printers list with a yellow triangle and an exclamation point. Everytime the computer is started up now, it wants to try and install the driver for this printer and I can't get rid of it. If I right click on the printer, there is no option
to remove the printer. I don't have an option to load the printer management in the MMC.

Hi,

I purchased a new laptop as a bridge until I can get a new desk top. It has W8 and came pre loaded with NIS, which I hate. I'm sure it also came with other un-necessary stuff that I would like to remove. But before doing so I would like to create a restore point so in case I decide to get a different laptop within the next 2 weeks I can give it back the way I bought it.

A:CReating a Restore Point in W8 and remove some of the crap that was pre loaded

Most laptops come with a recovery partition that you can use to return the pc to factory specs. This is your best option if you do decide to return it as evidence of your use and even some personal information can be left behind by simply doing a system restore as opposed to a factory restore which will wipe the drive and make everything as it was when you bought it. Check your manual for info on the factory restore.

As far as removing NIS, remove it as you would any program through Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features (if thats hasn't changed from Win 7, no Win 8 here but you'll find it). Once that is done you can then download run the Norton Removal tool from the URL below to clean up any leftovers.

So, I have an interesting issue that I cannot solve.

I have a Microsoft Excel 2010 file created by User A. User A has full permissions to the file. User A has created the document and saved it onto a network share folder. User B also has Microsoft Excel 2010 and can access the network share and can access the Excel file. User B also has full permissions to this file. User B should be able to Read, Write, Execute, etc., with the file. However, when User B attempts to make changes to the Excel file and save the changes to the network share, the user receives an error message reading, "Access Denied. Contact your Administrator."

Initially, we suspected that this was a simple permissions issue. Not the case. Looking further into the problem, I have since copied the entire Excel file into a completely new Excel file, saved the file to the Desktop and then moved the file into the network share location. User B still cannot modify the file and save it. I have renamed the computer to a completely different name and re-added the PC to our domain. Problem still persists.

At this point I'm thinking perhaps the issue lies somewhere within the registry. Rather than try and hunt down the problem, I simply reimage a new hard drive for the user, copy user files, etc., and add the computer to our domain. The problem still persists.

Recently, I have discovered that the problem occurs on other computers as well but only on computers with Microsoft Office 2010. Computers that ... Read more
