No sound Windows 7 on Packard Bell iMedia 9209

Q: No sound Windows 7 on Packard Bell iMedia 9209

Hello everybody,
I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my brother's PC. It had Windows XP, but he bought Windows 7, so we formatted it and installed Windows 7 Ultimate.
All the installation process was OK, but there is no sound.
I tried downloading and installing the Realtek HD Audio Codec R2.55 but it doesn't work.
I also tried installing the driver from the Packard Bell Download Center but I can't find my brother's model there.

I appreciate any help.
PC specs:

Motherboard Cuba MS-7301

memory 2GiB
VGA compatible controller G72 [GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS] nVidia Corporation

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: No sound Windows 7 on Packard Bell iMedia 9209

According to what you listed you have a "VIA High Definition Audio Controller". Doing a google search I can come up with XP drivers but no Win 7. I didn't check out every link in the google search so do a google search for VIA High Definition Audio Controller and see if you can find a Vista/Win 7 driver.

Hi anyone out there know what sound driver the 5137 uses? My son in law recently purchased a second hand one and replaced the operating system with windows xp home. Before the reformat he had sound now he has no sound. There is a yellow exclamation mark over the multimedia sound controller icon in the device manager. He says he has been unable to pin down the exact driver he needs. So far he has tried a variety of drivers with no success. Unfortunately I live too far away to experiment. Think If we can identify the proper sound driver we'll get somewhere , any ideas?
Merry Xmas

Try this tool: http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php

It will tell you what Hardware is in the PC, then you can download the correct driver direct from Realtek, intel or whatever.

I have an old Packard Bell imedia 1502 pc which I ma trying to get the data off the harddrive. The harddrive works but the pc will not power up as the on/off switch cables have been coroded (I beleive my friends dog had something to do with that.

There are two parts to this question

1 I have removed the harddrive and installed it as a slave in my own pc and can read the files on it, trouble is there appears to be a large number missing and there is no administrator folder under documents and settings which is where I beleive the data I am after should be. I have tried to boot my pc with this drive as the master with no luck.

Is the admin data etc hidden when a drive is installed as a slave?

2 Does any one know the pin connections for the nive pin front panel connector on a packard bell 1502, I was going to try and force the pc to boot by hardwiring these pins long enough to get the data off?

Hi there,
I currently have a Packard Bell imedia S3720 and I want to upgrade my computer power. I understand that as the imedia is a compact computer with a small motherboard I will need to purchase a larger casing. Basically what i want to do is 'slowly' upgrade my computer. If you could inform me of the easiest and most cost effective way of doing this that would be great. I need information about the types of processors, cases, motherboards etc that i will need to purchase. I am currently running windows 7 on my computer. Is there also a way to transfer my current operating system to my new 'updated' computer as I go? Thanks in advance,

Hi, i see there are several cases of audio missing from Pc's and there doesn't seem to be a quick fix. A friend of mine has a Packard Bell BV IMEDIA 2215 PB80135701 32 bit running Vista Home Premium. He wanted to connect the PC to a TV and put a lead with a scart plug on one side into the TV and a jack plug on the other end into the black socket on the back of the PC. The connection wasn't successful but he noticed after there was a red x instead of the speaker icon and a message "No Audio Output Device Is Installed" I dont know if the lead damaged the drivers in any way. In Device manager there are no warning asterisks but some things including speaker stated that there were no drivers. I tried update and was told the drivers are the newest. I have tried driver sites that scan the pc and will update drivers but they want paying. Is there a scan facility in the Packard Bell site that will scan and tell me what drivers i am missing. I have returned the PC back to factory settings via All Programs and i would have thought the drivers would work but they dont. Thanks for any advice

Just used a new copy of XP Home to reinstall XP on this machine, and all has gone well except for the sound. This machine has Sigmatel onboard audio but device manager says no drivers are installed for MultiMedia Audio Controller, and control panel Sounds says nothing is installed. Tried uninstalling and rebooting but nada. The serial # of this PC is 2667077049.Can find nothing at all regarding this model on the Packard Bell site. Have found this and wondering if it is worth a try -http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/191/191394.htmCheers

Hi rowal5555 This machine has Sigmatel onboard audioIf you're sure about that, then you might want to look at these two instead. One is for a via chipset, the other for an SiS chipset. This is one of those circumstances were you might be better off running a HW utility like everest or sandra for further ID.I'll leave the two links anyways.http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/234/234389.htmhttp://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/214/214312.htm

Hi - I'm new here so please be kind.

I have just bought a Packard Bell IMEDIA A3317 - 3G, triple Phenom core, graphics & sound integrated in motherboard, 320G HD, Vista Home basic. No driver discs included, but 2 created from within Vista for a) Vista re-install and b) Apps Drivers

I need to do ASP programming, so tried loading Win 2000 Professional (SP4) onto a new 320G HD. Sadly, the only screen resolution that works is 640/480 . I obviously need win2000 Pro drivers - since this is a standard package computer, one would imagine that they would be available as a block somewhere, but no joy in finding them.

The screen resolution hinders (prevents) setup of internet access, so I can't access Driver Robot over the net (driver robot needs to work on the machine with the problem)

There is a PCI-E slot, but am not sure if that would be a solution.

This must be a problem others have faced somewhere (or am I the only one!!!!! ) Any ideas on where to get a package of drivers? or what else I could do?

Thanks in advance

Tsarina

P.S. I know it isn't the best of machines, but my needs are very simple - just a little ASP development and writing letters.

Hi there,

I popped around to a friend's the other week and it appears he is having problems with his Packard Bell Imedia computer. I'm not sure of the exact model but it is definately a Packard Bell Imedia desktop.

The problem is that when the computer boots up, the PC speaker constantly beeps like a siren "on, off, on, off", particularly when the processor seems to be working hard, such as opening applications or loading startup programs. I've checked around inside and found that there isn't a problem with the RAM since I disconnected one of the sticks and moved them around and it was still beeping so my only suspicion is that the processor is getting too hot since the thermal paste must be wearing down now (the computer is roughly 3-4 years old).

However, another problem is that I cannot gain access to the BIOS screen (so I can temporarily switch off the PC Speaker) since it has a password lock, something which my friend didn't know anything about and is obviously something which Packard Bell have put in place to stop users "fiddling" with the BIOS settings. I've tried googling for many different passwords and none of them seem to have worked so please could someone also advise on this?

My friend doesn't really want to spend out a lot of money on it since it would obviously be much more worthwhile to start again but if I can get it to stop beeping I think that would be something!

Cheers,

Andrew.

A:Packard Bell Imedia - Constant Beep

My first thought was that the keyboard has a stuck key. Another possibility may be an alarm, like too high temp, but if you cannot get into Setup, it would be hard to check that. If you have another k/b, it might be worth while, if only to eliminate it as a possible cause.

Hi, I have just cleaned a whole load of dust from my PB computer, removing the processor fan carefully to clean it, and replaced just as conscientiously. After that, I upgraded my 2 x DDR2 512mb memory to 2 x DDR2 2gb, then slid the side back on and powered up. It then threw out two beeps then one continuous blare until I turned it off.

I switched back to the original RAM, but the same thing happens. Is this to do with the possibility that this machine can only take a certain amount of RAM? Or could I have maybe damaged something in the computer whilst cleaning (with canned air), despite my extreme care? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have a Packard Bell iMedia quad core, I switched it off last night working fine, but this morning, when I press the power button, the red light comes on, all the fans start then after about 5 seconds it just switched off..

Im taking it that it is not the power supply as it starts up, and I have tried removing the ram one module at a time, and that makes no difference... what else could it be?? as it is not even booting to bios, could it be the motherboard??

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved...

If you go into device manager are there any yellow "?", "!", "unknown devices" or "other devices"?
You can go to device manager by:

Hey guys,
My son's PB Imedia 1408 pc stopped working last week after he thought he had a trojan on his system after downloading it with some music. To cut a long story short, he tried to get rid of it by using Spyware Doctor at which point his system froze and then shut down. Then he called for Dad's help ( dont they always?) once the horse had bolted!
Anyway, now when you press the power on switch, the power switch just flashes orange and the HDD light stays on. There is a small beeping noise as the pc pulses but not the usual 'beep' you normally get. Inside the PC, the fans are working but you can hear it struggle to get going as it is pulsing. The PC can not boot.
I took out the Hard drive and checked it in my system and it appears good. I have since formatted it as whatever trojan was on there seemed to be pretty nasty. I have checked the CPU in my system and that works ok as does the RAM. My only thought is that the motherboard is fried? Are there viruses out there that can do that? or is it something more innocuous that i am missing?

Thanks for your time.

Virus cannot hurt Hardware (well indirectly yes, like a "crash")

Sounds like a Power Supply fault

My question is also should I replace the Motherboard or just the CPU etc ??????????

Hi All

I'm trying to fix a Packard Bell iMedia 1539 for my friend. She said that she was browsing the internet one day and the screen suddenly went black, with just a white mouse cursor and some weird blue lines to the right of the screen.

I tried to boot to last known good configuration but it restarted and won't even load to the black screen anymore.

I can't get it to boot at all now. It loads the Packard Bell Recovery Console but then blue screens. It either comes up with:

or

I can't boot from a disc, as it just keeps trying to start the recovery console and then going in circles. I can't get to the screen to start in safe mode or last known configuration.

Any ideas about what it might be. Initially, before i'd looked at it, i thought it might be a faulty hard drive but i'm not so sure now.

Hi everyone,

When I use the disc it asks me to choose which drivers I want to install from a list of drivers for each piece of hardware, last time I did this I was given the drivers over the phone but as the computer is now out of warranty I don't think they will be able do this. I was wondering if anyone here was able to provide me with a full driver list?

Thanks,

Anyone know where I can download the latest driver for this issue?

I just got an old packard bell monitor. (on the back it says its model number is 2020)
It has two large speakers attached to it with a speaker cord coming out of each. I want to know how to set it up as my speakers now, so that i can hear from it. There is only one sound connector in my pc, so i can't connect both speakers. I'm not even sure if both of the cords are for the speakers but i assume that.

So how do i setup the hardware and then Windows 2000 Pro to use it as my speakers. I'd also like the proper driver working so that i don't have to constantly reset the monitor when i change resolutions etc.

My laptop is failing to produce any sound from the speakers. I've tried plugging in headphones to see if they work, and they don't either. The only sound that I've heard is the loud beep when I put in my laptop charger.

When trying to play a song on iTunes, it doesn't even say that the song is playing once i've clicked on the play button... So it seems that it just does not want to play sound!!
(It's not a problem with iTunes alone, eg I've also tried youtube etc.. just seems strange)

I've ensured that all the speakers are not on mute and they're all on high volume!

I've gone through Device Manager also and it says that everything is working as it should...

The pain is, is that I have had this laptop for a while so don't have a manual or anything I could look in, and I also don't want to be dishing out lots of money on programmes to get it working, with the risk of it not even making a difference!

I would be really grateful if you could help me out, it's getting very frustrating!

Thank You

Hi all, been having a few issues with this laptop I recently purchased. I am getting slight crackling/pop noises from the built in speakers when playing sound. I have also tried two different sets of speakers and external ones which also result in crackling.

On device manager the audio device is listed as:
High Definition Audio Device

With two hardware ids:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0268&SUBSYS_1631C20C&REV_1000
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0268&SUBSYS_1631C20C

I have tried some various different techniques to get rid of the crackling like disabling sound effects etc, but to no prevail, am now stuck as to what to do. Some where online I saw about a "turn off pull mode" driver which has worked for a lot of people, but I can't seem to locate that driver.

Please help, thank you!

A:Crackling sound problems on Packard Bell MH35 (Hera C)

This is what you have:

Realtek

ALC268

Realtek link mentions that is on Vista laptops and I dig a little, chipset dates to 2008, so it has aged a bit and that is not working in your favor, either.

Crackling/pop noises are CONSTANT? Then it's likely that port at fault.

Since it's laptop with USB ports (I assume) you can get a USB audio device as a replacement, and just disable that on-board one and hopefully it's listed in the bios.

This might do the trick:

Anyways I am looking at re using this again as a temporary replacement for my Acer Aspire 5920. which has gone to silicon heaven this week.

Anyway the problem I have is with performance, I have upgraded the base spec to 2gb ram (wow)

It has a 500gb HDD in it I am looking at throwing in a Corsair 120 GB GT, this isnt an issue.

What I want to know, and as I suspect is Windows 7 a better choice over windows 10 considering the age, cpu, memory and HDD space I will have available.

It will be running Office 2010, Dreamweaver MX, Xampp 1.6.7, Web Plus 8, and some dedicated Aircraft Radar apps (Planeplotter).

Whats the best choice, please keep in mind the screen size is small and the windows 10 interface is somewhat "bulky"

Win7, and even that will struggle with 2GB of RAM (constantly hitting the swap file).

I need help with my 95 Packard Bell. One day I turned the computer on and it entered "kiddos" mode just like it normally did, but when I entered advanced mode, it had a error message saying something about a registration error and I needed to restart the computer; which I did. When the computer restarted however, it wouldn't go into advance mode; it would just reloaded "kiddos" mode. I can't search the hard drive unless I do it from DOS. This computer is a spare one, so if worse comes to worse, I might just have to "pitch" it. please help!

Hi all, hope you're well.

I have got my mother a Packard Bell iMedia S2185 (runs an Nvidia GeForce GT620) and set it up earlier today.

Attached it to a Hanns-G monitor, which told me it was receiving No Signal. Did the same with another monitor, and the same signal issue arose.

The Packard Ball boots up fine, I can hear it whirring away- but see nothing. I have connected both monitors to an old tower, and they both run run fine - so they're not the issue here. I connected the PB up to a big Samsung HD TV via HDMI, and it worked fine - though obviously I want the PC to run on the monitor! I thought maybe the monitors couldn't deal with the resolution as they're a few years old and made for Windows7, so I went ahead and enabled VGA mode on the PB, using the samsung screen- but still no luck. The D-Sub port looks fine, and VGA cable works on other devices as do the monitors.

Any idea what the issue is here guys? Would be super grateful for any responses. Thanks in advance!

A:Windows 8.1; Packard Bell monitor issues

Does this computer have a VGA onboard port as well as the nVidia Video card. Are you using DVI cable or VGA? Did you try a different cable to the monitor? Make sure the monitor is set for the particular input, (eg) if using a DVI cable, be sure the DVI is selected from the monitor menu and not VGA or HDMI.
Just to be sure, are you plugging the monitor into the Video card and not the VGA?
When you boot up, do you see the POST information or the Manufacturers splash screen? Can you boot into Setup (Bios)?

i recently purchased a Packard Bell running Windows Vista (Home Premium)
as pretty as Vista is i want to go back to XP, unfortunatley Packard Bell only support Vista and it seems only their drivers will work and i cant find any drivers any where else

does anyone have any XP drivers for Graphics/Sound/Motherboard etc or do you know where i can find them??

any help you could give me would be very very appreciated

A:Windows XP Drivers for Packard Bell Machine

You might be out of luck, but I'd start by identifying exactly what equipment you have. For example Packard Bell doesn't, AFAIK, make their own motherboards-so if you can identify the actual manufacturer & model of your mobo then you might be able to download the appropriate driver(s) from their website. Same with sound, graphics, etc.

I hope someone can help, and I hope I've posted this in the correct place. I've been trying to fix this myself but no joy.

I had to reinstall windows xp. After the reinstall I had to reinstall a lot of the drivers for my devices. However, the sound device is just not there at all - I've tried downloading the drivers, says that they are all up to date. I've been looking around for answers and this seems to suggest I need to get drivers for my motherboard. So far I've been unable to find these. I have managed to get chipset drivers though. That didn't help.

Hi. My PC on start up keeps sticking on the Windows XP start up page with the loading bar just rolling. This followed trying to load a new piece of software. I carried out all the tried and tested methods of getting the system started but it always returns me to the start up. I now wish to use my Master CD I created but if possible just reload Windows XP but keep my personal data. Is this possible? On using my disc it gives me the options of, amongst others, Standard System Restore or Windows & Smart Restore. Which should I use? All of my data is backed up apart from my sons home work project which would be great to retrieve. Thank you

Hi, I know there are lots of threads for 'no bootable device' but would just like to hear from one of the experts directly instead of just picking a thread and hoping for the best!
I have a Packard Bell TK83 running Windows 7. Suddenly laptop would not boot up. Got to the splash screen then received several different messages that appeared when trying to reboot;
'a disk read error occurred'.
'windows boot manager: windows failed to start. A hardware or software change may be the cause, status: 0xcoooooof'.
'no bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key'.
The laptop gave no previous signs that anything was wrong. 24 hours prior I had run my usual security updates; MSSE, Superantispyware, Antimalwarebytes and Spywareblaster. All results were clear. Only other update carried out was for Tor browser.
I have reseated the hard drive and all seems ok. BIOS recognises the HD and it is first in the reboot queue.
I have most of my data backed up but need to back up some of what is on the laptop. I also do not have boot cd.
Hope you can help, and, as always, any help is greatfully received.
Chris

Can anybody tell me the process or outline a tutorial for downgrading my operating system from Windows 8 to Windows 7 on my Packard Bell TS13 EasyNote Laptop. I have the recovery discs from when I first purchased the computer, but not really sure how to actually do the downgrade.

Thanks

A:Packard Bell TS13 Easynote Windows 8 Downgrade

This PC was purchased with Windows 7 pre-installed and you have a set of Recovery DVDs? If so ...

Just boot to the first DVD and you should be able to "recover to factory defaults." You could also check on Packard Bell's web site or in documentation you may have received with the PC for specific instructions.

Hello and welcome to TSG!!

It sure sounds like either graphics drivers or the touchscreen monitor itself needs some drivers. Check with the manufacturer's Web site for any missing drivers for your model.

Hi, My PC is a Packard Bell Pentium D tower unit and is very noisy when running. As this is driving me mad I am trying to find out why. First of all can anyone tell me if the fan speed readings I am getting are correct for this computer. They are as follows:

Sys Fan 0 RPM
CPU0 Fan 2909 RPM
Aux0 Fan 0 RPM
CPU1 Fan 0 RPM
Aux1 Fan 0 RPM

Are these readings correct? It seems that only one fan is working??? Any other help to cure this noisy fan would be much appreciated. Thanks

A:Packard Bell Pentium D using windows XP: Tower Unit - fan very noisy

It's only showing one fan reading because there's only one that can be read on your PC.

This may sound silly, but you've cleaned the fans, correct?

If the fan that is making noise is the PSU fan, I wouldn't mess with it and just replace it.

If the problem is the case fan or the CPU fan, clean those thoroughly with DRY cotton swabs, making sure not to leave any cotton "threads" behind.

[edit]

While you've got it open, make sure the power cord to each fan is plugged into your motherboard.
