Is it possible to allow two computers in seperate states to be part of a private network?

I have my own home network a desktop and lap top at home. I live in Washington and my mothers desktop is in Colorado, plus she has a laptop that travels.

Is there any way to allow these 4 computers to be on there own private network to allow file sharing and xfering?

My desktop has Vista, Laptop has XP,
Hers both have Vista.

Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I will tell you the same thing I did before. Private network, maybe but expensive and requires lots of work.

You can however share files, and even control the other computers using an app called team viewer.

Hope this helps

Private network. NO, sharing files etc yes. Its a lot of work, and there are easier ways to do it. Can you give us more specifics about what you need to do?

hey

I did this in windows xp a while back, when you are building a pc for someone you install windows, install all the drivers and install all of the important software for it then you can
put the computer to "out of the box" state so when it is turned on the next time it will ask the next user for usernames and initial setup configurations.

Is there a way to do something like that on windows 7 or am i just dreaming again?

Please help!!

Thanks in advance.

Any ideas what the heck is going on?

Hello
My pc was wiped a month or so back and reinstalled with windows 7, but now instead of the normal user account, it just has an administrator account which has a black wallpaper. to access the internet you have to go computer>network>homehub.

And when it comes up it runs in a limited state and takes ages to run two tabs at once. Does anyone know how i can get a decent user account back that runs the proper internet explorer?

Would greatly appreciate any help :S

Computer would load right back up to the screen it was shut down at, no BIOS or Win splash screen.

My friend got a virus on my computer a few weeks ago, and I can not imagine what he did to ge this monstrosity here. This virus has completely hijacked my computer. I will list the problems:
-Extremely long boot times (+ 5 minutes)
-Task manager locked by administrator (i never had an administrator)
-Programs including Firefox, iTunes, and Songbird will not open.
-Continuous popups.
-Desktop background now flashes warning.
-Attemps to copy data to seperate drive result in cyclic failure (corrupt data) That goes for my songs, pictures, videos, and documents and program settings.

All I want at this point is to backup all my documents, and restore XP. I know how do a system retore, but right now I just need to tame the beast long enough to let me function. Not hing the task manager, and drive copying failures are all enough for me to loose hope.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I have a question about restoring my hard drive. Recently, i bought a laptop from the pawn shop. I have been using the laptop for a couple of weeks and have some unimportant programs and files on it. Factory my hard drive is 222.22 Gb, but currently it's space is 179.8 GB. Since, i bought the laptop from the pawn shop, i did not get any windows disc. I'm afraid that if i restore to out-of-box-state that i wont be able to have windows 7 anymore and would be left with a laptop paper weight. i have made a repair disc but i did not make an restore disc. Should, i create this recovery disc before restoring? Also, is there anything else that, i should do before going threw with the Factory Restore?

All help is appreciated, and Thank you

A:Restoring computer HDD to out of box state

Look on the bottom or under battery for a COA sticker with the installed Win7 version and a Product Key which you should back up elsewhere. If necessary you can use this information to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

The COA sticker might mean there is still a Recovery Partitionon the HD. If so you might be able to make Recovery disks now if they've not been made yet. If you'd told us the make of the computer we could tell you how this is done. You may also be able to run Recovery from its partition using the Fkey given on first boot screen to Recovery to Factory COndition.

It's also possible the OS is retail full or upgrade version which can have it's key audited off the HD using http://download.cnet.com/Belarc-Advi...-10007277.html to Clean Reinstall.

Either way I would back up a Win7 system image externally which can be used to reimage the HD or its replacement in 20 minutes if it ever becomes irreparable: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

Good day -

I'm fairly new to this site - hello to you - and would like to solicit your expertise. I am not computer savvy - not because I am incapable of understanding - but because while I was a working professional I relied on the talents of the corporate IT department for any computer related issues. Now that I am a stay-at-home mom and screenwriter I have finally - painfully - come to the conclusion that I must dedicate some serious time to understanding the functioning capabilities of my computer. Okay, I know, blah, blah, blah...

Here is the issue.

A while back I downloaded the XP Service Pack II (who knew you couldn't trust Microsoft) and it caused some type of corruption to my computer (not to mention those nasty spyware buggers). After 15 hours on the phone with Dell, Microsoft, and my cable guy, we were able to get my computer in working order. The Dell representative stated that the corruption would invariably raise it's ugly head time and again and that the only answer would be to wipe out the hard drive and install XP all over again.

That was the first incident. And since that download, and several system restores back to previous states later, a disc clean up, a system defrag, and continual scan by Ad-Aware and Norton Internet Security/Virus protection, I still have an extremely sluggish system that locks up constantly. I have "(not responding)" several times a day from any number of applications and every night at shut down a pop up wi... Read more

A:How Do I Restore Computer To Original State

First of all, installing SP2 on a system running XP is not what caused your problems. It is a CRITICAL UPDATE and absolutely necessary for your computer to have to prevent its being attacked by malware through exploits the service pacs patch, and for prevention of allowing miscreants using the weaknesses in your unpatched computer to infect others. It was more than likely installing it on an infected system that may have caused the problems you are experiencing if not the malware residing on the system itself.Backing up now, while necessary to preserve your data, can be problematic. You may just backup viruses, etc as part of the backup and restore it to the computer after it has been disinfected.By the way, unless $ is a significant problem, backing up on an external USB hard drive made just for that purpose (which can be set to do incremental backups automatically) is far better and more foolproof than backing up on cds. You can get such a drive for less than $100, depending on how large you need it to be including the Dantz Retrospect software to accomplish backing up intervals scheduled and set by you.Back to your problem:If you are even moderately computer literate the best thing to do would be to disinfect your system rather than reload it if the data you have on it is important and hasn't yet been backed up.I assume you have regularly updated your anti-virus program's virus definitions and run a recent scan? If not, do so immediately using safe mode to run the scan.Star... Read more

I am about to purchase a laptop and if there is anything I've learned over the years, it's that these companies like to cram laptops with useless software, most of which expires after a certain amount of time thus making it even more useless. What I would like to do after purchasing the laptop is completely format the hard drive and then install my own copy of Windows along with software that I do use. If anything ever goes wrong however, the originally installed version of Windows along with the manufacturer's software/utilities will most likely be needed for warranty. So my question is about how to make a perfect copy of the hard drive before formatting it. I have Partition Magic which has an option called "Copy Partition" which I imagine is what I am looking for, but I would like to make sure I don't do anything wrong.

Would I install Partition Magic, make a hidden partition that is large enough for the currently installed version of Windows and the extra "bundled" software, and then copy Windows and the software to it? After which I would then format the rest of the hard drive and then install my own version of Windows there. If anything ever goes wrong, I would format the partition I was working with and copy the hidden partition back to it.

Is this the correct thing to do, and if so is there anything else I should be aware of before doing this. For example, will the original version of windows still function correctly if I ever ... Read more

Sorry for the long post, but I am going to be as specific as I can since my computer is in a horrible state.

My computer recently had the prunnet virus. I scanned with several different things to get rid of it, and found that my computer was infected with the MS Juan/virtumonde virus as well. After taking some advice from other forums, I thought I had gotten rid of MS Juan. This was a month or two ago, and now just this week, my mother informed me that our AVG anti-virus has been disabled. My first thoughts were oh no, the virus is back. I told her to open her task manager so I could see what was running, but it said it has been disabled by the administrator. I know that is another sign of a virus. I do not know enough about computers to know what to do from here.

I tried to reinstall AVG, but kept getting installation errors, so I tried to get into the registry to clean it up, but it closed immediately, with an error that I could barely read. After starting it several times and reading little chunks of the error each time, I found that it read- Cannot open super juan: error while opening key.

Another thing I noticed, is that when I am on the computer doing random things, playing a game or whatever, I will hear an error sound, but I see nothing running, and there is no error message. It will also tab me out of full screen applications randomly, but I don?t see anything new running.

I read the instructions on your forum of what logs to get, but I cannot run DDS or ... Read more

I'm not very advanced when it comes to fixing computer problems. My computer has become much slower and when I run Avast!, it usually finds multiple problems. Since I have no important files on my computer that aren't backed up, I was wondering if there is anyway to restore my computer to its original state as if it were new. Hello,
first of all sorry if this article is in the wrong section i thought that i would get better support about my problem here. So let me begin, i just changed my graphics card from a problematic 6870 to a gtx 760. I love it so far, also i clean installed Windows 8.1 Pro instead of my old Win7 Ultimate. As for my problem, i was downloading something with uTorrent around 18gigs, i left the PC for about 2 hours or more and when i got back i had no signal and the PC was not responding to anything, it had crashed...i thought that this happened because of the (Disable monitor after some time setting in the power profile of Win8.1) so i changed it to no disabling at all. But today i left it again to download the rest of the gigs and when i got back it had crashed. I am really frustrated. (extra info: i recently changed my rams to slots 2-4 in order for my cooler to fit properly, i searched the web and i saw a recommendation about removing Asus Utilites i use Asus gpu tool do not know if i should remove it)

This is kind of hard to explain, but lately about half the time I wake my computer from sleep,
it's in a very malfunctioned state.

I enter my password on the lock screen and my desktop comes up.
I can move the cursor around, but I can't click on anything... at all.
Things don't even highlight when I put the cursor over them.

I can use my keyboard to get to the Task Manager and go to the Processes tab,
but there are NO processes listed (not even the System Idle Process).

When this happens, I am unable to restart or shut down the computer normally,
so I have to hold the power button on my laptop to force it to power off.

I think this started happening after a Windows Update a few weeks ago.
(I don't do automatic updates; I just manually update Windows every few months or so.)

I hate updating Windows; it seems every time I do, it creates problems.
This is why I don't do it often, and sometimes consider not doing it at all...
Anyway, has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it, or at least know how I can diagnose the issue?
(OS: Windows 7 Home SP1 64-bit)

A:Computer sometimes in malfunctioned state when woken from sleep

Several others have had other problems in the past few days afer their computers updated. Have you tried a system restore to a date earlier than the last update? Don't update with IE 11 and see if that makes a difference.

You might contact Dell and see if you can get a set of recovery disks from them. You will need your model number and the service tag number on the machine. If this is a desk top the service tag is probably behind the door on the front where the USB ports are.

A:Hi!! Driver State Power Failure with new computer:

You have a N300 USB Network Adapter:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

The BSOD's blame the Asus AICharger.sys driver - a component of the Asus USB charger (goes by different names - but it's the thing that allows you to charge USB devices while the system is sleeping/hibernating/off). Please uninstall it as it's a known BSOD cause.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I have recently gotten a huge amount of virus threats detected on my computer and the only way i can get rid of them is to do a complete system restore to its original factory state as to when i bought it. I have no recovery cds or dvds that came with the computer.
I have already tried doing a system restore to its earlier restore point to a week ago and also virus scan to try and fix or remove the detected files but has been no luck in getting rid of them.

If it helps my computer is a Pyron Desktop PC with Windows 7 Home premium 64bit (windows 7 already pre installed when i bought it)

Thanks in advance

I have a new XPS 8900. I use a power strip and disconnect power from the machine.at times. Even though shut down properly on previous use, and bios is set to go to off state after power interruption, the fans will rev for a couple of seconds when power is applied, then the computer goes to the quiet off state. An individual at Dell tech support told me this is normal, but this individual was wrong on some other stuff discussed. I've never had a computer do fan activation on just being plugged in when it should be in the off state. Is this a correct behavior for the XPS 8900?

Hello, I would really appreciate any help you could give me.

I have an hp media center pc m470n running XP and it will not start up normally. When it boots up to the Windows Screen it just sits there and spins with nothing.

What I have done so far: This has been a problem for two weeks??

I have tried a system restore with no luck (says the computer could not restore to the date; I have tried three dates) and tried booting to the "Last known good configuration," with no luck.

I have no problems starting it up in Safe Mode. I first stopped the software from starting; meaning I went to run, typed msconfig and unchecked all of the boxes under the startup tab. I then restarted my computer with the same result. I then shut it down again and unplugged all of my hardware, except my mouse and keyboard to make sure I didn't have a hardware problem, then rebooted with the same result. I ran my norton antivirus, adware, and Registry Mechanic in same mode; then restarted with the same result. I have now rechecked all of the boxes in my start up (msconfig) and plugged all of the hardware in again. I again restarted and the same thing happened.

I then got mad and completed a destructive restore, which took my hard drive back to how it came out of the box and got the computer to start up after a few tries normally. I completed all of the software updates from Microsoft and the computer worked fine for two weeks. I got up this morning it the computer was r... Read more

Hey! I honestly don't know how to explain this situation but over the past few weeks I've encountered a very obscure problem with my computer. What happens is after a few hours of use my computer goes into this weird lockup state where I can't open any new application, my internet stops working and I can't initiate a shutdown. However the application that were open prior to the lockup still run perfectly fine e.g If i were running Word document and the lockup would happen i can only use word document while my task bar and all applications that I attempt open freeze up, also my i can't open task manager either.

I've searched for issues similar and I can't find anything
I've also used speccy's 'Save as text file' option to summarize my system

The majority of the STOP errors in the WER section of MSINFO32 are related to Bluetooth. Please update your Bluetooth drivers to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version (DO NOT use Win8 drivers - they sometimes have issues with Win8.1)

Lot's of traces of drivers for Virtual Box and VMware in the dumps. I'm starting to develop a theory that multiple VM's may conflict with each other. If you wish to test this theory, make sure that the system is BSOD'ing (after fixing the Bluetooth drivers) - then uninstall the Virtual Box, VMware, and Hyper-V stuff and see if that stops the BSOD's.

Okay, so sorry, im a total newb at this.

I seem to be bad luck for any computer I touch. I just got a new laptop at the end of last summer, and since then I have been having a bunch of problems. I have been able to solve them all up until now. I have no clue what's wrong, and stupid me, I never backed it up so anyway, currently my computer won't go on the internet (doesn't think it has a wifi card installed) won't play audio (doesn't think it has speakers--haunt tried plugging in external ones, but my guess is it would work fine) won't open any Microsoft office programs or files (no clue why) won't recognize my external hard drive, or flash drive, or any USB device. And the list goes on. Basically, I'm giving up and wanna just wipe the whole thing, restore it to factory state, and start over. Oh yea, and did I mention that it been partitioned like 7 times because I gave it to my friend to install linux, and when it wasn't working, he just kept trying and ended up installing ubuntu over and over again in a new partition. Yea.

So anyway I really wanna back up all my stuff, but how can I do that 1: in a way that won't transfer the problem whatever it is, and 2:that I can do with only CDs. I'm running windows seven home premium 64bit

Any help on the backup, and any tips in general would be really appreciated. I am at the end of my role here and about to go crazy.

Sorry for the weird long crazy post. I'm just like about to lose it

Hi,

My computer has been appearing to freeze for 1 to 2 seconds. Investigation reveals:-
Disk queue length for Seagate drive (platter) goes to 1 or 2 at start of event, and stays there for duration
Disk I/O for Seagate drive ceases completely during event
CPU enters C1 state
CPU core voltage drops to 0.8V (part of being in C1 state)
VCC stable
CPU temperature stable and well within limits
CPU Interrupt time drops to zero
Graphics card goes into idle (even if it happens in the middle of a graphics intensive game)

Tests so far:-
chkdsk - all ok
Intel processor diagnostic - all ok
Seagate diagnostic tools - all ok except if the event occurs during the test, then the program itself crashes and doesn't give a result
Hardware monitoring - all ok
Ran perfmon through a couple of the events, reported OK

I am having trouble separating cause and effect. It is as if the system, no matter how busy it is, just decides to have a sleep for a couple of seconds. I initially suspected hard disk, but that could just be a symptom.

All has been fine for 2 years up until a month or so ago, system is 2 years old.

Any thoughts?

A:Computer drops into idle (C1) state for 1 to 2 seconds, then recovers

Fixed. Took a punt, cloned and replaced the Seagate hard drive - all is now as good as new. Not enough wrong with it to fail chkdsk obviously, but enough to create instability.

Cheers

Please uninstall that program from your system. If you'd like to continue using it, please download a fresh copy from the HP website. Here's an article with a bunch of suggestions: http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/...readId=1148372

Also, Please update or remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager. Please use the following instructions to locate the most current drivers:

Quote:

How To Find Updated Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

I wasn't sure whether to post here or in removable media.

Since restoring my computer is a pain because I have to reformat with the eMachines disc, uninstall the useless programs, then install my programs, couldn't I just create discs that do what the eMachines disc does, but with what I want?

So, right now, my computer is exactly the way I like it, perfect spot for a fresh start point. What I want the discs to do, is the 1st disc would reformat the main drive (C:\) to NTFS, then would tell you to insert the 2nd disc which would start copying files over, which would tell you to insert the 3rd disc, etc, until it has copied my whole system back to how it is (now).

And if I can't do the method I just explained, is there anyway/any method to do what I said in the first paragraph? Any programs or guides? Thanks.

Problem devices

Code:
Photosmart 5510d series ROOT\MULTIFUNCTION\0000 This device is disabled.
You will need to either uninstall the drivers and reinstall the latest version or perform a clean installation of the driver. If the device is disabled please enable it.

Drivers
The dumps point to Netwsw00.sys, a driver associated with Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link Adapter. From the below link download and install all of the drivers Networking: Wireless LAN.
Drivers and software - ThinkPad T410

The following drivers need to be updated:

Code:
CAXHWAZL.sys Wed Jul 01 06:01:14 2009
CAX_CNXT.sys Wed Jul 01 05:59:52 2009
CAX_DPV.sys Wed Jul 01 06:05:11 2009
XAudio64.sys Thu Apr 30 04:21:07 2009
mdmxsdk.sys Tue Jun 20 07:27:26 2006
These drivers can be found by searching them in Google and then finding the associated software or driver. Finally, find the latest version of this driver or software and download and install it. Some of the drivers may also be found here (if the driver says 'Windows Update' simply make sure all Windows Updates are installed).

You should also update any other drivers you can think of including graphics, audio, chipset, SSD etc.
Software
You have Ad-Aware AV installed, is that correct? At least to test, uninstall it and install MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) instead.

I was trying to reformat my computer to out of box state...... I have toshiba satillite laptop that is about 6 months old. It had a version of windows 7 on there that my buddie put on but I want it off because I think that its pirated, he said he is not using it because his computer wont support it but I dont know, anyway, I dont have the windows 7 disk and I am 1000 miles away from him so I cant get it. During system restore, when it first starts it trys to find the partition that the restore image is put on, it does not use disks. It lock up when trying to find the partition, so I restarted my computer. Now it wont load at all, it says no bootable device found. And I tried to push F8 to see if I can do a start up repair but F8 is no longer working, was before. Any ideas, I am so stuck... Thanks Much! Syrell

A:Reformating my computer to out of box state, locked when finding partition, wont boot

Installing any version of Windows using anything but the Recovery Disks for the particular PC generally overwrites the special MBR the system uses to access the Recovery Partition at boot. Or if Win 7 added it's System Reserved partition when it was installed, the BIOS may simply be looking at the wrong place now.

If you didn't create the Recovery Disk Set, you can contact Toshiba to see if they have them available for your model, and what it might cost, if anything. Usually pretty cheap.

You might be able to use a Win 7 Recovery Environment CD to run Startup repair and get it able to boot back into Windows though.
You can download an ISO of the Win 7 RW disk from here:

I am looking for a new laptop. I currently have a X121e and recall it being extremely easy to configure on Lenovo's site. So I decided to look at the X270. However, having had great difficulty even starting to configure it (apparently, Lenovo does not favour Firefox any longer), I'm currently having trouble understanding the choices. The first is the choice between PCIe and SATA PointingDevice. Following some discussion, I gather this has nothing to do with any kind of pointing device, but affects my HDD/SSD choices. OK, so let's see what the PCIe choices give me. I get 5 'first hard drive' options. (Nothing I do gets me a 'second hard drive' option, so not sure about this. Or rather, I almost understand this now I've read the platform specification, the user manual, the hardware maintenance manual and various posts on Reddit. Lenovo do like to make buying a challenge!) Now, however, I've reached the end of my google-fu. Intel 256 GB Solid State Drive OPAL2.0 PCIe-NVMe256 GB Solid State Drive PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.0 - CapableIntel 512 GB Solid State Drive OPAL2.0 PCIe-NVMe512 GB Solid State Drive, PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.01 TB Solid State Drive OPAL2.0 PCIe-NVMeI understand the difference beween 1/2 and 3/4 and 5 is obviously size. Alternatively if anyone knows a better place to post this question, I'm game for that as well. I just haven't found any official "Tor" forum anywhere.

Thanks! :)

A:How can I make my IP look like it's in a Different State? (Tor?)

According to your TechSupportForum profile details, your IP says you're already posting from LA California, so the proxy you're currently using is doing what you want it to.
