Q: Thinkpad Yoga 12 + Onelink

Does anyone know if itis possible to do the following:When connected to the Onelink dock, closing the lid will NOT turn off/standby laptop. I know there is the option on the power settings to choose not to do anything when the lid is closed, but that is not so ideal when we have the laptop connected to the wall and not the dock... So the idea is if it is possible to make it ignore closing the lid only if the dock is connected, Thank you. Ricardo Santos.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

I have owned my Yoga S1 for several years now and apart from the endless early issues the docks (and many replacements), the stupid placing of the Ctrl key (still annoys me) and a problem i had with a repair (which to be fair was handled very well in the end - customer service was great) I've been happy.Except one things - power management.This morning, I came to my Yoga and the red light was glowing on the i in thinkpad, key board locks were on: touch keys (on most of my other computers pressing space a few times wakes from sleep state), nothing, press power button nothing, press button on dock - nothing., tried restart button on the dock - still nothing.So I do what, now that I think about it, I do about 75% of the time when returning to my yoga - hold the power button for 9 seconds and force a BIOS crash reset. I have applied all the drivers religiously over the years, BIOS updates Windows in up to date (Creator edition now) fully patched. I have tried the confusing variety of Lenovo bits that seem to part duplicate and part confuse existing Windows functionality. Good Morning, I have a strage problem:When the power adapter is plugged in, the indicator light is orange. The Windows battery symbol in the task bar is animated as charging. When I hover the mouse over it, it says "charging". The Problem is: It isn't charging at all.Now the strage part: If I plug the same cable into my OneLink+ adapter and connect the OneLink with my computer it is actually charging.The problem could be caused by the ThinkPad BIOS Update - 7 (V.1.21.1.14) I did a few days ago. When I am at work I plug my Thinkpad Yoga into the Onelink Pro to connect all the peripherals, inlcuding mouse, keyboard, printer, and two monitors. The Onelink Pro also has my ethernet connection to the office network. I have had this setup for 2 1/2 years and it has always worked great. This morning, however, when I connected to the Onelink everything worked normally except the ethernet network connection. I could not connect to my office network, and I got messages like "Cannot find a valid network"; so I ran the Lenovo diagnostics. It told me there was an invalid IP configuration. I have unplugged and reset both the Onelink and the computer; but nothing had fixed the problem. I have also checked for the latest drivers, and everything seems to be up to date. Does anyone have any suggestions to get me reconnected to my ethernet network, or is my Onelink starting to go bad?

I am thinking of buying an X1 Yoga, but am a bit concerned about the lack of ethernet port. I am looking for feedback on the OneLink+ to RJ45 adapter - Lenovo part #4X90K06975. This is the adapter with just the ethernet port - no other ports. I have found some feedback on the docking station, and the adapter with more ports.., but I am interested in the ethernet-only adapter. Does it work well? I've read about a variety of issues with the other adapter and the docking station. one thing that concerns me a bit about the adapter is that the OneLink "plug" looks like it sticks out a lot from the side of the laptop - is it the kind of thing that can easily get dislodged, or broken.., or worse yet.., damage the port in the laptop? This laptop will occasionally be used in a bumpy environment. I see that i also have the option of a USB-Ethernet adapter, but I would rather leave my USB ports free for other devices - connectig to instruments is one of the main jobs for this laptop. Additionally, I assume that the USB-ethernet adapter will need a driver, and i am worried about driver conflicts with the drivers for the instruments. Presumably, the OneLink to RJ45 adapter does not need a driver - is that corect? Thanks for any help

I am having a problem with my ThinkPad Yoga in combination with OneLink Pro, closed lid, attached DVI monitor and a logitech mouse. The ThinkPad is running preinstalled Windows 8.1. I did recover it to factory state few times, that doesn't solve following problem: If attached to the OneLink Pro, the cursor jumps from time to time to the bottom right corner of screen. While doing so it also making a click, so icons in taskbar are activated. That happens sporadically, but in overall like once per hour. It does not happen if I let the lid opened.

I current own an x1 carbon gen2 wqhd touchscreen device and two thinkpad onelink pro docks to facilitate quick desktop environment docking in two different locations. I'm looking at upgrading to the new x1 yoga 2nd [ or 1st ] generation wqhd touchscreen replacement solutions. Looking at one of the video reviews it seems like the docking port on them is not the appx inch wide connector a onlink pro dock has on the end of its cable. Does the x1 yoga 2nd [ and 1st ] generation device work with thinkpad onelink pro dock?

ThinkPad OneLink Pro Dock is not compatible with ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd gen as Onelink+ connector is missing.

I could not connect via Ethernet using the TPY (Win 8.1) and Onelink Dock (basic).  With all updated software, the TPY kept trying to connect to the USB3-ethernet in the Dock but could not start the hardware. I received a USB device not recognized which cycled during a session and seemed to screw up other parts of the system. Thinking it was a driver issue I uninstalled all the ASIX drivers and removed all the driver packages associated with the ASIX AX88179 and AX88178 controller   (see:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730875.aspx  ). Then ran Windows update which downloaded yet another ASIX package. I downloaded both the Win 7 and Win 8 driver packages from ASIX, unzipped and looked these over.  I modified the *.inf files and deleted all the non-english segments with asian or Russian characters at the end of the file leaving only the English segment and saved these on the C: drive.  (http://www.asix.com.tw/download.php?sub=driverdetail&PItemID=131) I reloaded the OneLink drivers from Lenovo.  Ethernet not recognized.From Device Manager,  I tried to update the Ethernet controller driver to the new downloaded, modified Win 8 driver and received the message that the driver was the current driver so it would not update. Instead, I had DM browse for the Windows 7 driver, and loaded that.  Ethernet not recognized. Then I had DM browse for the modified Windows 8 driver.  Thi... Would you mind providing a little more info on what you exaclty removed in the Win 8 .inf driver file from Asix? 2. When you mention īDM loaded the modified driverī, I take it you mean the modified Asix inf driver, not the one you downloaded from Lenovo?3. After updating Onelink Pro Dock to firmware version 2.30.000, system boot is no longer possible with closed lid.Opening lid after starting boot doesn't help, only way out seems to be an emergency power off.Booting system with open lid works fine, even when closing lid before logon.System is Thinkpad Yoga 15 running Windows 10 Pro.Thinkpad Onelink Pro Dock driver is 1.08.36Setting Boot Time Extension in BIOS doesn't help anyProblem didn't show up before firmware update.Any suggestions?

Hello everyone,  I would like to connect 3 external monitors to Yoga 260. I found out that conection of 3 external displays is feasible. It is associated with turning off the native LCD, whcich is OK for me. I would like to use ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (40A40090XX). The docking station has 2 DP and 1 VGA. The issue is I'd rather use 2 DP from docking station and one DP which is on board Yoga instead of VGA. Is such configuration possible? I would like to figure it out before I will buy the station. I've found document: https://support.lenovo.com/uu/en/documents/pd029622 , but there is nothing on using docking stations' DP and native DP in one configuration, simultaneously. Whether it is because on board DP will be disabled? The alternative is MST (eg. http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/multi-stream-transport-mst-hub.html). Both devices are at a comparable price, and if I had confidence that the docking station will work with onboard DP simultaneously, I would choose it.  Thank you in advance, best regardsM

Since no one has replied, I would like close this discussion.  Still someone might benefit for the information, that: - I have purchased and tested ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock- it works with 3 external monitors using 2 DP from docking station and one mini-DP from Yoga itself- working configuration is as follows: 2 displays are connected to OneLink+ Dock with one active DP to DVI converter, one passive DP to DVI converter and the last one (Yogas? port) with active mini-DP to DVI converter- I didn?t try to use for example 2 or 3 passive DP to DVI converters (but I guess that 2 should do the job, but 3 will probably won?t work)- when OneLink+ Dock is attached, the HDMI port in Yoga is not working! (the information one can also find in BIOS, but no materials on-line) Best regards,Maciej

When a Windows 8 ThinkPad Yoga is connected to a ThinkPad OneLink Pro Dock (Model DU9033S1) which has a sound cable placed into its headphone jack, every few seconds the sound will alternate between the laptop speakers and the docking station. It appears that the connection to the docking station is briefly lost (sound comes from laptop speakers), and then re-established (sound goes to docking station). However, during this "disconnect/connect", all other aspects of the docking station are unaffected (video, network, USB).
 
Updating BIOS, audio drivers, dock drivers & firmware have had no impact. If sound cable is removed from dock, then behaves normally (sound goes to dock only). Happens with multiple Thinkpad Yogas and multiple docking stations.

My Onelink Plus dock behaves very strangely, I cannot use the Ethernet port reliably:I bought recently a Thinkpad Yoga 460 ? after my previous Thinkpad ? and an Onelink plus dock. After docking I have to disconnect and reconnect all cables from/to the dock to make the Ethernet work.After that it works great for a period, but sometimes it loses the connection. I have to unplug again all the cables and reconnect them to make it work. To the dock I attached the following: USB keyboard, mouse, external drive, DisplayPort cable (with DP to DVI adapter) and the Ethernet cable. I am using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit (ver. 1607) from a clean install. Every device in the Device Manager seems to be OK, even the ThinkPad OneLink Plus Dock Ethernet.I have the latest software and firmware.Lenovo Companion cannot find new updatesI have updated the BIOS to ver 1.46.I have also updated the Onelink plus dock firmware (Version: 2.33.000). Any idea? This way the dock is useless.

Dear all,

I just received my new Thinkpad X1 Yoga, brand new, with a dock OneLink+

Both are running fine. But it is impossible to start the PC when the dock is connected: The screen freeze at the red square LENOVO display from the Bios, windows 10 pro doesn't start.

I have to disconnect the dock, et relaunch the PC to enable a normal start. After the start, I can reconnect the dock.

I updated all drivers, flashed the bios, latest FW of the dock and even resetted Windows, but without success.

Lenovo support wants to change the laptop (!), it's brand new!

I thought maybe one of the topgun member of this community might have a better idea.

My X1 Yoga 1st Gen runs Windows 10, i wanted to connect 3 external monitors through OneLink+ dock( It has 2 DP and 1 VGA output ports) but for some reason only 2 monitors get connected and working but not the 3rd one, i tried connecting the 3rd monitor directly to the laptop through HDMI it didnt work either, do i need to do something to make all 3 monitors to work?

Hi, The icon for the OneLink Dock in the tasktray is missing v 1.10.11, Windows 10 Pro. Any way to fix this. I notice this happening when I lock the screen and returning back to the desktop.  Also, from the screen capture, even though it says "ThinkPad OneLink Dock Attached!" I do not have it attached to the laptop.?

I have the exact same equipment at home and at work and yet the resolution on my second monitor at work will not go to the 3840 x 2160 that I have at home. Both locations have:1. X1 Yoga (first gen, model number 20FQ002YUS) -- It's the same laptop that I take between home and work2. ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (model number DU9047S1)3. Two (2) Asus monitors (model number PB287Q) that go to 3840 x 2160 max resolution, connected to the OneLink+ Dock via DiplayPort cables I've been running this configuation with NO PROBLEM at home for the past 9 months.  So I recently purchased a new OneLink+ Dock and two new monitors for my work office and while one monitor will go to 3840 x 2160, the other will not go above 1920 x 1080, UNLESS, I use a mini DisplayPort cable from the second monitor directly into the X1 Yoga (bypassing the OneLink+ Dock) HERE'S WHAT'S BAFFLING: I assumed it was the dock and so I brought the one from home to work and found I had the SAME problem, suggesting it was the second monitor.   But I exchanged the second monitor for a new one and still have the same problem.  The docks are running the most current firmware. I'll send a gift card to your favorite coffee house if you can solve this mystery.  Thanks!

My Lenovo thinkpad S1 Yoga 12 20DL0066ZA does not want to boot up when it is connected to the Dock and the network cable is connected. My Yoga has the latest Bios update: 1.30 and firmware update: 10.0.55.3000And I also have the latest drivers for the dock: V11019 and firmware: 2.33.000 Unfortunately there is no Network settings in BIOS > Config to disable UEFI IPv4 Network Stack Enabled or UEFI IPv6 Network Stack Enabled. In BIOS > Startup > boot  I have disabled PCI LAN ( it has 2 sub headings - LAN (0050B68AC40A) -IPv4 and LAN (0050B68AC40A) -IPv6) Can some help?

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

I'm looking into buying the new Carbon X1 2017 as soon as it comes out. I tend to need an ethernet connection often and want handling with ethernet cables as effortless as possible .   On my current laptop (Dell XPS 15, Win10Pro64) I use an ethernet-USB3 adapter. Honestly, these adapters are crap and constantly annoy me. Mine seems to re-install it's driver (or at least somehow initiate thru the system) every time I plug the adapter in. About 60% of the time the system looses the IP configuration and I have to re-type the IP address. Also the system gets confused occasionally when I connecte/disconnect the adpater and tells me that my IP is already in use. I suspect this happens because the adapter is embedded in the system via software, not hardware. I really hope this is much, much better with the X1, as it comes with a designated connector for this... still, I need a dongle to connect an RJ45 cable which is a good source of error. Maybe someone who is actually using the OneLink+ to RJ45 adapter can give me a bit of insight, what happens in the system with this connector.Does the ethernet port actually disappear from the system, when there is no OneLink+ to RJ45 adapter connected? Do I need to re-configure the settings every time the adapter is plugged in?I think it would be great if the ethernet connection just sits there in the system and keeps it's configuration neatly, also if the RJ45 adapter is not connected. Can anyone explain ?Thank you... Hello. I would like to resolve my problem with my E540 with OneLink Dock Pro.  When dock is connected to my notebook and I press power button, backlight of display lights up, but display stays black, no lenovo logo, nothing... Sometimes it shows logo but it freezes on this logo too. When I disconnect dock, notebook boots up normally. I tryed to disconnect monitor, keyboard and mouse from dock too, but it has no effect. This "freezing" seems to be happening only when dock is connected. On charger notebook boots up normally. And last note, this is happening only on "cold" start, restart works normaly. Problems started just after flashing new firmware to dock (v. 2.30) and BIOS update (v. 2.23). I do not know what made this problems, because I was doing these updates together. Thanks for any answer...

Hi Guys! We got 6 Thinkpad E550, all with OneLink Pro Docks.All of them are connected with one or two external Monitors (only DP or DVI).From time to time the Monitors starts flickering/blinking black. Its not reproducable. I've already patched all drivers and firmwares. OS was Windows 7 (64) and is now Windows 10 (64). Problems still exists - ON ALL SIX DEVICES, different monitors, cables ect..Actual firmware seem to fix exactly this problem on x1 carbon notebooks:https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options/tp_onelink_pro_dock_fw.txtPlease release a firmware with fix for E550!

We have 10+ Lenovo Thinkpad E560's in the company that will not boot with dock attached. I have updated the dock software, the bios, all windows updates are installed. I have check the event logs and there is nothing there indicating an error. I have gone through the BIOS settings to change boot order to HDD first instead of PXE. All Laptops are running Windows 10 64bit.

I have a ThinkPad E550 laptop connected to two Acer V246HL monitors via a ThinkPad OneLink Pro dock. One monitor is connected via DVI/HDMI to the dock and the other connected either via VGA or DVI/HDMI directly into the laptop.  When both are connected via DVI/HDMI only one monitor will be detected. When one is connected via VGA both monitors are detected, however the one connected via VGA will flicker or blink off and on. Disconnecting the ThinkPad dock solves this issue. I have tried the following:Uninstalled and reinstalled graphics driversUpdated dock firmwareRun updates on graphics driversChecked different cablesChecked different monitorsChecked different dockChecked different laptopRun Lenovo VGA fix The Lenovo VGA fix would not complete and ended up in error loop. After advice from the internet I unplugged the dock and tried again, but failed. I then unplugged everything but the VGA cable and tried again, but failed. I unplugged all peripherals and tried again, but still failed. Errors include "Invalid AUX device" and"Enable Aux2 Reg Failed".Finally I redownloaded the fix, unblocked everything before unzipping then ran as Administrator, however it all still failed. Any other advice? I can run off battery for a while but not for a full working day.

To Whom It May Concern, This has been a nightmare trying to get support for a 3-year Worldwide Warranty product that my company purchased a little over 1 year ago. The dock's DisplayPort seem to not be working properly. The monitor that is connected to it will randomly go blank. I've tried updating to the latest drivers and firmware for the dock. I tried switching monitors and switching cables. I've tried moving around USB devices to make sure it isn't interfering with operation. I've tried connecting the bare minimum to the devices and the problem persisted. I need the DisplayPort as I am running a dual monitor setup. I contacted the Customer Service line to get support. To my dismay, I was told my product was not under warranty and had to send in a copy of the invoice for my product. The support rep gave me an email address to their entitlement department and was told I will receive a response within 24-48 hours. It's been 96 hours now and no response. I try calling again to check on my status, but told the same thing and that they don't have the service case in their system. I hope some Lenovo rep can see this and provide some assistance.

We've hooked up two different E550 ThinkPads with two different OneLink Docks on to two different monitors, both of them showing the same errors.A LOT of graphic changes result in the same error message.LG: "Out of range, 40.4kHz, something Hz" (also went to 40,6kHz, not steady numbers)BenQ: "Out of range" When does it happen? A lot of times. When I change graphic options (primary screen, resolutions, dual screen mode, etc), when I reboot, even when I accessed the device manager once.The worst thing is the rebooting though, everything else I got sorted out to the point where a normal user wouldn't really trigger that. Hello! I've just got new ThinkPad OneLink Pro Dock station and connected it to my monitors (2 x ViewSonic VA2246M-LED 22"): first via DisplayPort to DVI cable;second via DVI to DVI cable;The one connected via DisplayPort works well. Another one connected via DVI-DVI cable doesn't get any signal from Dock Station.Even if I unplug DisplayPort cable, the second monitor is still black. My laptop is Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 3rd. I've updated Dock Station's firmware to the latest one from Lenovo website and I did the same for Intel Graphics driver.Still nothing. Need help, guys.

We got about 5 Yoga 460s brand new with OneLink+ dock systems.  All of them have been updated with their respective updates in regards to BIOS, Firmware for Dock and Network drivers.  We are having a problem with ethernet adapter (when docked) dropping connections for about 1 second (causing Windows Explorer to say we disconnected from network drives). I can't see any "icons" drop (for network connectivity in notification center of the bottom right).  All are running Windows 10 with latest updates.  Pressing "ok" reconnects instantly but this is becoming a very annoying problem with people have to do this 6 times a day.   Lenovo machines plugged up before these docks and Yogas (T540s and T460s) in their own respective docks didn't have one issue.  Nothing on the network switch is indicating a dropped connection (managed switch put into logging mode).  We have turned off all power management of the network driver (allowed to sleep and "green" switching) to no avail.  This seems like a USB3.0 problem and we can't seem to figure it out.  Even without ANY external displays attached we get disconnects about 6 times a day (in 8 hour work day).

I have Thinkpad Yoga 460(20EL). I bought OneLink docking station model DU9026S1 however I could not use it as the connecter is bigger (or different) from the slot in the laptop. Searched a lot but could not understand why this happened. Any help to propose the suitable docking or if there is a an adaptor?

Unfortunately, your system has OneLink+ dock connector and the dock which you have to use is ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (40A40090SA)
And there is no such Adapter/cable to convert OneLink+dock - OneLink Dock.

I posted this on the forum but have not seen any answers.  I am hoping that someone could help me out.. When my X1 Carbon notebook is connected through the Onelink Prodock, the audio is muted when playing any video files - from my hard drive or from Youtube.  When I unplug hte connecting cable, the audio is audible again, until the buffer runs out..or if I reconnect to Prodock.  Never a problem when NOT connected through the Prodock. Any ideas?  Thanks in advance. Prabu

I just bought a ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock for my Lenovo X1 Yoga 2nd Gen laptop. I used the product guide to find it.
Unfortunately, the connector is not compatible to my 2nd gen X1.
Is there a converter og can I connect via the USB?

Please provide a link to the product guide which said the OneLink+ Dock is compatible with the X1 Yoga 2nd Gen, so we can get it fixed! As you have found it is NOT compatible, and there is no USB converter .
 
The most complete reference to compatibility of all accessories is the Options Compatibility Matrix. You can use a USB dock or a Thunderbolt dock - the Lenovo Quick Pick site also shows your options.

I recently bought a X1 Yoga as a personal laptop to compliment my Gen 3 X1 Carbon. I istakenly thought the onelink dock would be indentical, only to find they use different ports. From what I can tell, Lenovo does not sell a converter cord. Has anyone run into this issue? Am I stuck having two docks on my desk or should I just convert to a generic USB doc (non-Lenovo)?

I have several X1 Yoga and they keep saying the Onelink+ power is not attached or not correct. They are brand new out of box. They seemed to possibly start doing this after BIOS / Firmware update but I am not sure. Any suggested fixes?

I've not seen this message with my personal X1 Yoga and OneLink+ Dock. One thought - are you sure the 90W power adapter supplied with the dock is connected to the dock's power port? The adapter supplied with the machine is either 65W or 45W, which is insufficient to power the dock and laptop combination. The 90W adapter is physicially larger than the 65W or 45W adapter.
