I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello there,
It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.
Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:
1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.
4. Accept the Windows license agreement.
5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.
6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.
7.  Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

Hello. I want to create Windows 8.1 installation image. I have Windows 8 OEM license. From what I've read so far, I understand that the 8.1 image I create using this tool will work with my 8 key. Am I right?

But I'm not sure about versions, the tool allows various options, like: Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 N, Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro N, Windows 8.1 Single Language. I think my version is just Windows 8. If I create Windows 8.1 Pro image, will it work with my key? Also I don't know whether my version is N or not, and whether it matters.

A:Media creation tool - will 8.1 Pro image work with 8 key?

The difference is the 'pro' part.

You have windows 8 OEM license and can only upgrade with the same license to windows 8.1.

This means, if you try to install windows 8.1 pro, your key will not work.

So I have 2 PC's and a metered internet connection. So I created an ISO instead of upgrading the one PC. When I run the ISO on the computer it was created with, it gives me the option to upgrade. When I run it on my other PC, it asks me for a Windows 10 serial key.

This doesn't make sense, the tool specifically says for use on other computers. Anyone know how I can get around this without downloading 10 again.

A:Media Creation Tool ISO, no update on one computer

just click SKIP when asked for product Key
You must upgrade a qualifying OS though

I can't reproduce your issue because it doesn't stop my PC from booting BUT I think I've got a solution for you since you said you "...HAVE HAD SNOOP FREE BEFORE JUST FINE..."

I recommend that you download the VERSION that worked for you in the past. How? You can do that by clicking here and going to the approximate year and month you got a working version of Snoop Free from its web site then downloading and installing that version.

I personally tried opening a snapshot of the site from November 21, 2002 and was able to download a working installer of Snoop Free.

All of a sudden, I turn on my lap top (lenovo idea pad flex 10) and it takes forever to Load, then says windows 8 wont boot or something.
Takes me to a blue screen and I tries to system restore but that also won't load and go through. Help please?
I went to advanced options and pulled up the box you type **** in butI don't know what to put km it to make windows boot!

A:windows 8 wont boot and system restore wont work

You need to be much more specific about what your problem is. I can't tell at all from your post what's really happening, and neither will anybody else. What exactly happens? What exact messages do you get? What "advanced options" are you talking about? Also, it appears this site's profanity filter has blocked something in your post. Using such language is not helpful.

Try a linux boot disc and see if you can change the partition size a tiny bit with that. Gparted is your best bet:

Install windows 10 and confirm activation as suggested in forums. Downloaded Windows Media Creation Tool to create fresh reinstall. Ran it to create 64 bit ISO. Now using the ISO to reinstall windows 10. At 30% restore, it failed. I tried various recovery. Even did chkdsk on drive c with /r and also with /f. Same problem again - failure at about 30% restore.

Reading in forums, I discover Refresh Windows Tool(exe). Downloaded and ran it (tool) to download Windows 10.
What I dislike. No Pause or ability to use a download manager. When this download of about 3gb is done, where is it saved? How to use? Yea, automatic for I still have prior install files (programs, data folders, etc) which means nothing was done. Did restart hoping for a fresh reinstall - no changes. Thus I am posting in this forum with paragraph 1 (media tool) and Refresh tool (paragraph 2).

Went into BIOS startup and told it to use DVD (boot order priority), but instead window normal login was done and given. Thus, use window recovery within to execute the ISO.

Wouldhe2 Understand you're having problems updating your Win7 PC to Win10. I've done this several times and it's very risky with Win7 PCs, so I've written the following advice.  Based on your experience, you should pay particular attention to step2 -- System Reserved Resizing ... You need to think about how much work you want to commit to just to run Win10.  Seriously.  Older Win7 machine tend to come in two flavors when it comes to the Win10 upgrade -- really easy, and really hard. The really hard to upgrade PCs fall into two categories: (1) those that are upgradeable to Win10 and will work OK, (2) those that are not.HP laptops, especially the older Win7 machines, often came with two different graphics chips -- and Intel and then, either an AMD or Nvidia.  This was known as Switchable Graphics or Hybrid Graphics.  You ran using the Intel chip most of the time, but when you needed extra graphics power, like in Gaming, the PC automatically switched over to using the AMD or Nvidia graphics chip.Problem is, this requires special graphics drivers to work, and while those came preinstalled on the Win7 laptops, those drivers simply do not exist for Win10.  Those drivers are not available from Intel, AMD, or Nvidia.  A way to tell if your PC has two different graphics chips is to look in Device Manager under Display Adapters.  If there are two different adapters listed, one Intel and one AMD/Nividia, then you have this problem --... windows 10 home 64bit 1607
Updated windows 7 home premium 64bit to windows 10 home. Then to windows 10 home 1607.
Is the media creation tool the same as 'create system image' in windows 10 home?
Can I make an iso installer? Can it be activated with the windows 7 home premium license?
Is create system image the only option to install the system if required?

Thank you.

A:iso media creation tool

A system image is created by 'Backup and Restore (Windows 7)'.
This is an image of your existing partition.
It can be used to restore your partition as was so you can hopefully recover from problems and even your own mistakes.
Better option: 3rd part disk imaging programs e.g. Macrium Reflect (free/commercial), Veeam Endpoint (free/commercial) etc.

MS's media creation tool downloads and creates sthg you can install Win 10 with or boot from and repair your PC (limited options) or do an in-place repair install, keeping all progs and data, most settings.
Installing Win 10 now means you either have already installed Win 10 and wish to reinstall it, or you have bought a license.

Feel free to search the net for more.

Good day all,

Sorry if this has been answered before. Here are my questions:

1. When I use the Media Creation Tool from the official Microsoft link (https://www.microsoft.com/nl-nl/soft...5-8e96988880a4) will it download the Windows 10 ISO that includes the Anniversary Update or is that ISO file not uploaded on the Microsoft website yet?

2. I am using Windows 8.1 Pro x64 at the moment. However, for some reason, when I have to select in the Media Creation Tool the version of Windows 10 that I want to create an ISO file of, there are only the options: Windows 10, Windows 10 N and Windows 10 Single Language Pack. I recall that I was able to choose Windows 10 Pro a while ago, why is that option gone? Can't I install Windows 10 Pro anymore?

A:Two questions about the Media Creation Tool

Yes....it will/should have the latest complete version of windows 10.

I download the Windows image twice via the media creation tool. The file sizes though same, had different hashes(SHA1). If the images are identical, why the different hashes. Needless to say, the hashes don't obviously match with their MSDN counterpart.
Why is this happening?

A:Problem with the Media creation tool

The hashes won't match because the date modified for the install.esd file contained within the iso changes to the date/time the file was downloaded by the MCT.

Same file size because the date/time occupies the same number of bytes. Different hash sum because those bytes are different.

Hi guys,

A while back ago, I had downloaded and performed a clean install of Win10 using the MCT.
I performed the following command to check which version of Win10 is being installed and it only says the build number and not the version number which should be 1511. Thats what I want.

By performing a clean installation using the MCT, how can I check if it is installing version 1511?

Is there any other commands that I can perform to check from the INSTALL.ESD (from the ISO file) if the MCT is really version 1511?

Hi, I purchased an HP Pavilion ab516TX a few days ago. I just went through the instruction guide for the HP Recovery Media Creation Tool. The guide recommends that the recovery media be created soon after purchasing your laptop. The thing is, I have already partitioned the "C" Drive to create one more drive. I haven't touched the Recovery Drive ("D" Drive), though. Now, my question is this: Does the partitioning of the C Drive mean that I will not be able to create a recovery media? Or is it nothing to worry about? Please note that the guide only mentions that the "D" Drive should not be modified in any way; it says nothing about the "C" Drive. If the partitioning is a problem here, will it help to revert to the original disk configuration by simply merging this new drive with the "C" Drive?   I would be really grateful if anyone could suggest the recommeded course of action at this point, especially considering that the recovery media can be created only once.  Best wishes,Ashari PS: Here's the link to the instruction guide: http://support.hp.com/my-en/document/c03481733. Note that this guide is meant for Windows 8 laptops. I couldn't find a similar guide for Windows 10. Is there a separate guide for Windows 10?

A:Can you use the HP Recovery Media Creation Tool after the C ...

Ashari If you DID create recovery media using the HP tool, and if you DID use it, and it worked -- the first thing it does is completely reformat your hard drive, restoring the parition layout to the original scheme.  This would basically erase everything you have done. If you want recovery media for the current state of the PC, I recommend a third-party product known as Macrium  Reflect. Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives. What I recommend is the following:1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR)2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB stick3) Use the option to create a boot USB stick or CDMy experience is that MR, when using the High Compression option, typically can compress the saved image file to about 50% of the USED space in the OS partition.  This means if you have an 80GB OS partition, and 40GB is used, MR only needs about 20GB to store the image file.I use this all the time and it typically takes less than 10 minutes to do the image backup and about the same time or less to do a restore.  Plus, MR has the option to Add a Recovery Boot Menu entry.  This allows you then to boot into WinRE, and you can then use that to do a restore -- when you can't boot into Windows!NOW, you have the means to restore a full working system from the ex... Hope someone can help here. More Windows 10 s**t that is driving me mad!

D/loaded the media creation tool hoping to put Win 10 on a USB to repair my daughters Win 10 installation on an ASUS eeePC (no optical drive).

Running the tool on a Win 7 Home pc (64-bit)

Despite the pc both offering to scan the USB stick for viruses (through Kaspersky) and Windows itself offering to open the USB folder, the Media Creation Tool says it can't find a USB flash drive(!)

Doesn't matter if I put the flash drive in other USB sockets (tried three in total), it doesn't matter whether the flash drive is inserted into the pc before launching the Media Ceation Tool or after - still says it can't find the flash drive!

When I ran the Media Creation Tool on another machine (a Win 7 laptop) it recognises that there is a USB flash drive, it goes through the long, long process of downloading the Win 10 image (which took more than an hour), it says it is then creating the media and then (after 30 mins or so) reports that there is a fault and it can't complete the job.

I have an elderly 32-bit desktop machine which is still running Vista (no, don't laugh, I inherited it). I tried running the Media Creation Tool and got a message saying that it was incompatible (is the Media Creation Tool 64-bit??). Message was "MediaCreationTool.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

Looked at the Micro$oft site and couldn't find a 32-bit version of the Media Creation Tool. There are sites on the w... Read more

My computer is slowly losing functionality and I have found out from diagnostics is because of Windows 10. Also it has been much more than 10 since the aggressive Windows 10 update. I have read forum after forum about trying to revert to 7 and they all talk

I have a separate 500gb drive installed for backup, and it has the last backup of win 7. I am afraid to delete it in case I need to go back. If win 10 crashes can I use the downloaded windows media creation tool to repair win 10?

Can't you backup Win 10 to the other drive where you have plenty of space?

Several months ago, I downloaded the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (MCT).
I created a bootable USB flash drive from this tool back around end of December or January.

Then I ran the following command as shown in the output of my print images here that the description is Windows 10 Technical Preview.

Also, the build is 10586.0 but I do not see version 1511 which means the November Update.
If it is the November Update, then why does it show as Created On 10/30/2015?
I marked those in Red as you can see.

What I am guessing here, that during the Windows 10 clean installation process, it does do Critical Updates, so I guess those Updates are updated to the November Update. But this happens during the installation process.

You have the latest ISO available from Microsoft. Build 10586.0 is the November update base build with no cumulative updates applied. Install it and you will get version 1511 build 10586.0 and a cumulative update from Windows Update will bring it up to build 10586.104. If you downloaded the ISO today you would get exactly the same version/build.

Hello everyone,
I know this topic was already discussed, but as I have tried all the options listed on the other thread and with no success whatsoever, I just thought to make a new clean one, as the last one became really messy in terms of understanding who tried what,
and what exactly worked.
As of now I am using Windows 10 Home edition, and I have everything up to date concerning Windows updates.
I will now relate how the process is going using Windows MediaCreationTool:
1. I start by formatting an USB device of 16g to FAT32
2. I then make sure to have Windows Defender disabled
3. I make sure to delete $WINDOWS`~BT and $WINDOWS.~WS
4. I start the MediaCreationTool
5. I select the USB device to where I want to install my image
6. The MediaCreationTool goes in the Downloading Image phase which is completed with no problem
7. Now things go bad. After downloading, it moves to the creation phase where after everything goes fine up to 50%, I receive this error over and over again, no matter what I try from the internet, no matter what browser I use.... I now feel like I should seel
my soul to the Devil or something, and I am pretty sure that wont work either.... So any ideas what can I do? Because Windows apparently has no idea why their own software doesn't work....
The message is this and I quote it because apparently I cannot add images until my account is verified.... :
"There was a problem, running this tool

Ok heres the deal:

I decided to watch a small video clip on the internet. I went to the website, clicked on the clip and Windows media player started. After a few minutes, an error message popped up saying "error downloading codec". I searched the website and found that this video was encoded using Divx. I went to the website(www.divx.com) and downloaded the codec and the divx player. After the installation, I cant open Windows Media player, I double click on the menu icon and the desktop icon and nothing happens. The computer does not freeze, but WMP wont open . I'm using WMP 10 and Windows XP/
Do I have to reinstall WMP, or is there an easy way out?

A:Windows media player wont work..help!!

I would just uninstall and reinstall WMP and see if that works. Try downloading WMP 10 straight from Microsoft for the reinstall. Just in case your downloas for WMP 10 got corrupted. Shouldn't take too long.
