Portege R700 and dockstation, Integrated screen starts black

Q: Portege R700 and dockstation, Integrated screen starts black

My Laptop is a R700 with a dockstation. Windows 7 x64.

If a I starts laptop docked, can see on external monitor and integrated lcd.
If I star undocked, starts windows and lcd turns black. There is out to external monitor if I connect one, but not lcd correct out.

Swtiching function keys doesn?t works, like if undertand lcd is correct (but there is only a black lcd).
Updating until last version of video and switching version (aug2012) we obtain the same result: black lcd.

If uninstall video driver and set the vga standard driver works ok, but ther is no switching function key to use external monitor.

Is anyone there with same proble?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

If the video signal has been set to external monitor using Fn + F5, then you have to use this key combination again in order to switch back to the internal screen?.

Hi

I guess you can order such cable directly from Toshiba authorized service partner in your country.

But also some independent computer part reseller / online dealer should be able to provide such cables?

Hi,

I had 2x 2GB PC3 10600 ram in my R700 (i3) which is running Windows 7 x64.

I have some 4GB sticks of ram I wanted to upgrade my laptop to 8GB in total.

I put in the memory which consists of:
1x 4GB PC3 12800
1x 4GB PC3 10600

The laptop gets to the screen where it says "Starting Windows" and looks like it freezes before the windows animation.

If I try using 1x 4GB (either speeds) and 1x 2GB then Windows boots just fine but there is a problem when I use both the 4GB sticks.

I have tested the ram with Memtest and they pass the tests.

If I put the 4GB sticks of ram in a R840 (Windows 8.1 Pro), this boots fine.
If I put the 4GB sticks of ram in a R700 (i5 running Windows 8.1 Pro), this also boots fine.

If I try putting in the 2x 4GB sticks of ram in the R700-i3 and attempt to install Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 then it gets to the screen which says "Windows is loading files" and the progress bar completes but then the screen just goes blank and the fan spins up but nothing else happens.

I have previously had 8GB ram in the R700-i3 so I know it does support it. The BIOS detects that there is 8GB ram when I have both inserted and the BIOS is updated to the latest version which is 2.20 iirc.

Can anyone shed some light on the problem?

A:Cant use 8GB in Portege R700

Hi Borito

If specification says that your notebook model can handle with 8GB RAM than we must not discuss about it.
By RAM upgrade is important to use 100% compatible and two identical RAM modules (the same specification).
I have tested it on my machine too using standard and one ?cheap? RAM and my machine was death. With two identical RAM modules everything is OK.

Can you please post exact model name of your Portege notebook (R700-xxx) and I will try to find exact part number for 4GB RAM offered for this notebook model.

Hi there

I have a Toshiba Portege R700. Over the last day or two it's been intermittently showing the message battery power low when it's been plugged into the mains. This morning it did the same then shut down.

I've put it on charge but now it will not start at all if i press the power button (nothing happens). If I remove the power lead and press the power button, nothing happens. if i remove the battery then replace it, then press the power button, the fan starts momentarily and the screen comes on showing the 'Toshiba leading innovation' then it goes off. Hope this makes sense! I?d be very grateful for any advice or opinion.

Thanks so much.

Hello together,

so I bought two new RAM-sticks for my old laptop
Toshiba Portege R700-19T

But since I've installed them, the machine won't boot into an OS anymore.
The installed Windows 7 64bit goes to a black screen before the windows logo on startup (same with safe mode). And after a few seconds the fans are going fast but nothing seems to happen.

The next thing I tried was an ubuntu(12.04) live dvd. But this won't boot either. No error message or something, only an automatic restart after a few seconds of black screen.

Next thing was memtest86+ v4.20:
It crashes immediately sometimes to a black screen and sometimes to this http://i.imgur.com/eJqIyDp.jpg .
I've tested my new two sticks together and alone, always the same problem. The old ones work perfectly and no crash from memtest.

In the BIOS is only one thing about memory and there it shows the correct "Total Memory Size 8192 MB"

laptop-mem specs from toshiba:

Standard : 4 (2 + 2) GBmax. Speicherausstattung : 8 GBTechnologie : DDR3 RAM (1.066 MHz)

link to product description from Toshiba: http://www.toshiba.de/discontinued-p...tege-r700-19t/

old (working) ram-sticks:
2x Samsung 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600S-09-10-ZZZ M471B5773CHS-CH9

new ram-sticks:
2x G.Skill 4GB DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600)
link to shop where I bought it: https://www.alternate.de/G-Skill/SO-...roduct/1154622

In my understanding the two new sticks should work well with my laptop, or am I something missing?

regards

A:Portege R700-19T - New RAM -> no more booting

To me the issue is clear enough; the notebook does not boot due to new RAM modules.

Either the new RAM modules are not fully compatible or the RAM modules are faulty.

I would recommend you to test another modules; for example modules manufactured by Kingston.

I wanted to upgrade the existing RAM (2 x Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 8500). I've installed 2 x Samsung 4GB 1xR8 - 12800S, but it didn't work.
The notebook didn't boot (black screen and fan always working).
I guess the problem is with the 1xR8 of the "new" RAM instead of 2xR8 of the existing one. Could anybody give me a suggestion and advise on the right memory I should buy?

A:Portege R700 How to replace the keyboard

I read some reports from users who tried to replace the keyboard on this R700 and this is not very easy.
It?s difficult because you will need to remove other parts like
Battery, sim card, express card slot, memory modules, base assembly to get access to an
aluminum tape from the back of the cover assembly. Then you could turn the cover assembly face up and peel off the keyboard adhered to the insulator.
And additionally you can not use the removed keyboard and keyboard insulator again. You will need to use new parts

Hi,

I would like to install a small SSD as a second drive in my r700-15q, in order to experience the SSD renaissance.

I see others have done this using a caddy that is installed in the optical drive bay.

My laptop does not come with an optical drive, or a bay for an optical drive. It only came with an internal 7200 RPM traditional drive. here is the full spec http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/portege-r700-15q/

Is there anyway to install a second drive in my laptop (r700-15Q)?

Good evening,

I needed a new battery for my Portege R700-11P. I had a battery model PA3832U-1BRS and I bought a new battery that fits this. To be honest the battery was rather cheap, so I already thought back in my head that there might be a downside to this.

However, my problem is the following: I put the battery in and plug the laptop in. Then my laptop will show the orange charging light for a few minutes before it says that it's 100% charged (and the light turns yellow). Then I unplug the laptop to test whether the battery is charged and immediately the laptop shuts down. This means the battery was not charged at all, right?

So it says the battery is fully charged but isn't. I already removed the AC/DC and the battery and pressed the on-button for 30 seconds but it didn't help.
So, what can I do about this? Is the battery faulty?

Help would be extremely appreciated

In my Porteg? R700 there is no way to make autorun working (for CD/DVD and USB keys as well). CD/DVD and USB keys work perfectely, but not the autorun.

I've tried to use both the AutoFix of Microsoft and the PowerToys, but the problem it's still there. I've tried also to modify the Registry, but it seems that the changes are not kept. I suspect there is something related to some utilities or so.
Can anybody help me?

A:Portege R700 - No autorun for CD/DVD and USB keys

Hey,

> I suspect there is something related to some utilities or so.
What kind of utilites you have installed? Theoretically they could block the autorun?

Normally if autorun doesn?t work on XP you can enable it in Windows registry:
Start > run > regedit

The registry editor will open and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Policies / Explorer
Double click on the value ?NoDriveTypeAutoRun? and set the value ?91?.

Now you have to navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Services / Cdrom

Double click on the value ?AutoRun? and set the value ?1?.

Now restart your computer and test it again, usually autorun should work again.
Furthermore make sure that newest Service Pack is installed for XP (SP3).

Hi there,

I seem to have a non-standard connector type on my SSD (THNSNC128GMLJ). I'm now concerned that I will not be able to upgrade my SSD for a larger capacity. Does anyone know anything about Toshiba using anything other than the standard SATA family of connectors on their SSD's?

This is pretty annoying as the laptop was advertised as follows - "Hard Drive - 128 GB Solid State Drive - Serial ATA-150" I'm no expert but the connector on my SSD does not look anything like the SATA connectors I've seen before.

Any help or information would be most appreciated.

A:Portege R700-155 - SSD Connector question

i believe the SSD's as standard were a different ribbon connector to the standard HDD's in the R700 series, however i also think (but don't quote me) that the actual connector for the ribbon on the motherboard is the same. so in order to fit a new SSD to the one you have you need to get hold of the HDD style ribbon from a lower spec R700

my R700-184 (european spec) was highest spec without SSD and it has normal SATA connector on the end of the ribbon. fitted an OCZ vertex 2 lovely :-)

I have a Portege r700 with original Windows 7 OEM installation.

The Windows 7 is up to date and Windows Update program is offering me to upgrade to Windows 10.

The upgrade process is starting fine, downloading & pre-configuring all necessary stuff, then finaly ask me to reboot the system in order to go on with the upgrade.

After a few seconds, the reboot process is launched, and load... the current Windows 7 system, saying that an error occured during the upgrade process.

I performed a few tests ; I am also a Linux fan so I tried to boot the system with a LiveCD of my prefered distros : after loading the prompt menu asking what I want to do (liveCD boot, install, diagnose, etc.), it reboots... and show me again the prompt menu (prompt menu is a GRUB feature, the kernel has not been loaded at this time).

I understand that "something" (and I guess it is the Toshiba restauration system) is preventing me to boot on something else than the original partition, preventing the Windows 10 upgrade.

Any idea ?

unfortunately i forgort to unregister the Fingerprint i had registerd with that old win10 - so now this finger can not be used

my question

is there any possibility to completely reset (delete all Fingerprints for all Systems) the fingerprintscanner out from one of my running Systems or to unregister the
Fingerprint for that system, that does not longer exist on my portege ?

thanks for any hints

A:How to reset fingerprint sensor on Portege R700-174?

The fingerprints are stored on the fingerprint sensor and you will need to follow the instructions in this Toshiba document to remove your fingerprint scans.
http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/faq/386

In case this procedure would not work, only Toshiba authorized service provider would be able to erase users fingerprint related privacy information on the fingerprint sensor flash.

For what it is worth I just short would like to share my SSD learnings:

1. I bought a Corsair Newton GTX 500 GB for my R700 (i5, W7). Looked to work ok after normal cloning, but quite often the PC froze and I could not restart it. Only way to continue was to force it to turn down with the on/off button. When starting up I always got this message:

+PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable.+
+PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.+
+Insert system disk in drive.+
+Press any key when ready ..+.

Only way to get further was to force it down again, and then the Pc could boot and Windows started. I updated all the drivers that I could think of- including Intel - but the problem persisted. Please note that this happened now and then with no systematic behaviour, at least what I could understand.

2. I got cold feet from this behaviour and bought a new R930, exchanged the relative small HDD with a bigger SSD Samsun 840 Pro 500 GB. No problem whatsoever, runs very fast and smooth!

3. I could now reinstall Windows 7 on the older R700 with the Corsair SSD - and now this machine works without any of the older problems, but I don?t understand way...

Have anyone of you seen anything similar??

A:Portege R700 - SSD installation: One succesfull and One failed

Of course. The PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable error appears because notebook tried to boot from LAN.
Mostly this happens due to faulty HDD.

I have the exact same problem as outlined in:

http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=64809

The laptop resolution at random times and intervals seems to revert back to supporting a maximum of 1280x700 which results in a 2 inch black bar on the right hand side and the start button of windows 7 being off the screen.

At present its stuck in this display resolution and no matter what I do I can not get it to return to the normal 1366x768.

External Monitors work fine with the laptop.

Its running 2.20 BIOS which I believe is the latest.

It seems that the intel driver must be getting some information that is incorrect.
Searching on various forums and using moninfo i see that the internal display does not seem to support EDID and that the parameters seem to be set by the registry some how.

I've also tried to do an EDID override by creating a custom inf file with Moninfo but this does not seem to effect the issue.

I've also tried restoring from the recovery disks multiple times without success.
When the installation of windows occurs the display is fine.
When the additional Toshiba programs are added the display reverts back to 1280x700.
I suspect this is happening when the intel graphics driver is installed.

> If I boot the laptop into safe mode the resolution is 1366x768 which seems to suggest that its the driver that has a problem.

I think you are on the right trace and I think its driver related issue.
Therefore I would recommend you to uninstall the Intel graphic card driver within the device manager.

The PORTEGE R700-S1321 was equipped with the Intel? Core i5-520M CPU and this CPU supports the Intel? HD graphic card

The newest Intel HD driver can be downloaded directly from the Intel page:
[Driver for Intel Core Processors with Intel HD Graphics|https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics& ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct =Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C 2%AE+HD+Graphics&ProdId=3231&LineId=1101&FamilyId= 39]

I have to download the zip package.
Then you can install the driver via device manager using the advanced installation procedure. This allows you to point directly to this zip package. Windows system would pick up the driver automatically. After new reboot you the newest drivers would be installed and you should change your resolution.

Hi

On the Toshiba EU driver page you could find the fingerprint software which functions properly.
I recommend firstly to uninstall the fingerprint software? additionally you could uninstall the driver in device manager too.
Reboot the unit, clean the system and registry running CCLeaner (its freeware tool. If you did not install it in the past, do that before fingerprint software installation).

Then install the fingerprint software from the driver page.
Reboot once again and run the test.

Hi all,

I am a happy owner of a unused R700, was bought under the conditions of being refurbished.
But as far as I can see it hasn't been used since around 2011, and judging by the box has been stored in a warehouse and been used.

I have installed Windows 7 64bit as I need to use large amounts of RAM in programs such as Sibelius and Photoshop,

However even before I did any upgrades its been hanging about once a day and the Fan speed increases to maximum and shuts down.

The First two occasions it was just sat idle and the fan went mad and it had froze,
I have searched everywhere and downloaded the suggested drivers for the finger print reader.

However it has started doing it when coming out of sleep and hibernate occasionally,
I just wondered if anyone would care to shed some light on how to solve any of these issues,

I love the laptop and the style and really cant wait to get using it at University, just its a bit annoying when it freezes.

The specs are:

Maybe it sounds stupid but I think you should clarify this with nearest Toshiba service provider.
I use Toshiba notebooks for years now and I know for sure that Toshiba doesn?t sell notebooks with any kind of password or such kind of protection.

If you have such amount of notebooks maybe there was some special dial about configuration or protection. Anyway, BIOS password removal cannot be theme on such public forum. BIOS password protection is very important security feature and if there is some problem it must be clarified with authorized Toshiba service provider.

BIOS password cannot be set or changed from alone and, as far as I know, there is no kind of factory reset. I just know that BIOS can be set to default settings. That?s all.
Contact nearest Toshiba service provider and clarify this issue.

My Toshiba Port?g? R700 (PT311A-06600Q) will not connect to the internet.
It says that a Network Adapter needs to be installed and configured, but I do not have the disc to do this, nor do I have an internet connection on my laptop to download the driver.

I have attempted to download the driver onto a USB, using another laptop, then using that USB, I have tried to install it onto the problem computer, but it won't install.

There is no Windows installed on the problem computer, may this be an issue as to why the driver won't install?

Help me, please!

A:Portege R700 PT311A - Network Adapter needs to be installed

Hi

I hope you picked up the right driver.

Not quite sure if you are talking about LAN driver or WLan driver and what Windows system you are using but fact is that all drivers for this unit can be found here:
http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/download

I would recommend you to check once again if you downloaded the proper driver. Then move the driver package to the notebook (desktop). Unzip the package and execute the setup or install exe file.

In case you would not find any exe files in the package, I would recommend you to install the driver within the device manager.

The external monitor is with the main colour purple.

The labtop detects the monitor right and all works well, but there is since today a main colour purple over all.

Its the same wth a beamer!

A:Portege R700 - External monitor color is purple

How about the internal display?
Does the purple color appear on internal monitor too?

In case the internal monitor is OK, the graphic chip should be also OK and in such case I think the video out port (RGB / HDMI) or the cable connecting both devices could be affected.

In case the purple color would appear on internal display too, then the GPU (graphic chip) could malfunctions.

PS: what notebook model do you have excatly and how did you connect the external monitor/beamer to the notebook?

I have installed W10 on my R700 and R930 successfully - but I have two minor issues I can?t solve:
- I cannot enter BIOS - the route via Settings - advanced Start - troubleshooting - Start repair etc. does not work. How do I enter BIOS in W10???
- I try to update my Intel drivers via the Intel driver Update Utility - but when I run this App - the App are not able to identify any Intel drivers on my two Porteges - how can this be possible? In the System info I can see information about the Intel processors - how can that be?
Otherwise W10 is running good....

A:Win 10 on Portege R700 and R930 works but wher is the BIOS?

Well - I found the answer to the first question - how to enter Bios in W10 - in the energy options you have to disable quick start-up - then you can enter BIOS by just holding the F12 at powering up. Worked on my two Portege.

Hello,

I have been searching for a solution

My R700 on Win7 was working flawlessly using the finger print scanner. At some point without any reason the
hardware (finger print reader to login) was not recognized by the OS anymore.

- I tried to remove the driver software, reinstalled it
- updated it and so on resulting that the hardware was not found.
- I even removed all relevant entries from the registry - no go.

- the Authentic Finger Print software starts up, but only giving an error that the FP-reader is not present.

Is there a way to remove the stored fingerprint manually by deleting the manually.

The hardware is working according to the support. (Machine was send in)
However I do not wish to re-setup the entire machine (it is a business notebook) just to get this to work?

Any hints or step by step intro to achieve this?

I could not find a descritpion on how to remove fingerprints (cause I suspect that is the problem) manually since the software to do this does not start up.

Any input would be appreciated.

Best regards
julian

A:Portege R700 Finger Print Reader suddenly not recognised from OS

If you don't see the fingerprint hardware or unresolved devices in Device Manager then the device is either disabled in the BIOS or the fingerprint sensor is faulty or loose, or there was a liquid spill causing corrosion.

Hi,

I have a number of users who when they re-dock their laptop, either a R700, R830 or R930 the external mouse keyboard or screens fail to work, although the screens do sometimes activate.

They are all using the hi-speed port replicator 2, we have tried updating the bios on a couple of machines, which has made no improvement.

All the laptops will dock fine when powered off or in sleep mode, does anyone have any ideas on a fix to this, thanks

> I have a number of users...
Can you tell us something about you? Are you some authorized dealer or service partner?
I mean if you have company who offers support for Toshiba notebooks you should not waste your time discussing on forums but contact Toshiba directly and try to clarify this issue.

My advice for you is to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. I don?t know where do you live but Toshiba ASPs you can find on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

Hello

I have a Toshiba Portege R700 for years.
As i already have some trouble, i did a reinstallation few years ago, from recovery partition. Directly.

But, few days ago, i had some issues with my portege.
HDD seems to be broken as it make some noise and was really, really, really, ..., really slow.
So, after making some data backup during hours and hours (remember, it was really, ..., really slow), i lauch a complete re-installation from "recovery partition". It seems to be good, but .. never finished the process, with same HDD noise, and again slow HDD I/O.

OK, my own diadnostic: change HDD.
This done, and using the Toshiba recovery DVD just bought (yes impossible to find the earlied burn DVD), i have ... the same issue. The recovery process does not end even if 'im waiting for days ...
And i have the same HDD noise. With the new one!!

So having a MSDN licence, i installed a Win7 Pro 32bits, but not the Toshiba one.

And it's running for days without any issue!

But i have to reinstall all drivers, and software delivered by Toshiba.

Obviouly i will prefer to find what is the exact issue with this Portege, and reinstall the Toshiba version of Windows 7 Pro.

So, if someonre read the story until, the question is: ANY IDEA?
How to make a HW diagnostic? How to identify the exact problem?

Thanks for your help.

Jo?l

A:Portege R700 - original recovery image re-installation failed

It is really strange. Have you bought brand new HDD or you use some old and used one as replacement?
Have you used recovery discs in the past successfully? I mean maybe is recovery disc a ?troublemaker?.

Hi there all,

I really hope you guys can help me!

I bought a Samsung R700 for my son 3 years ago. He has had so many problems with this machine and has had to spend hundreds of pounds on repairs/replacements. Jacks, batteries, chargers, overheating problems and now the latest problem.

I will explain as well as I can.

On start up he could put in his password but then after clicking, the screen is black with vertical broken lines right across the screen and nothing else happens.

He can use it in safe mode for basic internet connection. He backed up his files onto an external drive and then used the Samsung recovery disc to try to restore Windows etc. It didn't work. Still exactly as before.

I found out online that there have been defects with the NVidia graphics card he has, the 8400. I rolled back the driver to an earlier one and then managed to start up in normal mode but then all the critical error messages started coming up.

I didn't realise this was a malware at the time and started following it's instructions for fixing the errors. It said 6 were fixed and 5 were not. I got suspicious when it said I could purchase the fix and googled it then of course arrived on your forum.

I cannot get access to internet explorer on the computer so will have to download any removal tools to my own computer first. I have enabled Windows firewall but cannot enable Defender and there is no antivirus now and I cannot find any programs or IE so cannot download an an... Read more

Hi all,

We have an odd issue with one of Our Portege Z20's

When switched on you see the Toshiba Screen and then the screen just goes blank. If you tap f2 etc then you are asked for a supervisor password, and again after entering the password the screen goes blank. We have let the battery run flat and this has not solved the issue.
I have connected a external monitor and still the same thing occurs.

Any idea how we can fix this

My Toshiba PORTEGE Z930-13U does not boot, the screen stays black, not even the Toshiba logo appears and no windows starting screen appears. All LEDs light up after pressing the power button, except the internal storage drive light (see foto attached). I don't think it is a graphic card issue, there have never been any problems with the graphic card.
This problem has already happened sometimes in the past. But usually after some days pressing the power button from time to time it used to suddendly turn on again and then work normally. This time however, already several weeks have passed and my notebook does not turn on. I use Windows 7. Can anybody help me with this? Any help is very much appreciated. Let me know if you need additional information.

Hello. Today I received my new Yoga 720, specifically a 72013IKB. I am really pleased with it but I've spent quite a lot of time trying to solve a problem, unsuccessfully. When I turn on the webcam app, the camera indicator light comes on, the app opens, the icons and controls are there, but the image itself is just all black. Here's what I've tried so far: Uninstalling the EasyCamera driver and restarting to let Windows find it and reinstall the driver, downloading the driver from the support site and manually installing it, checking the Lenovo privacy settings (set to off), using Skype's settings to test video (which shows nothing, not even a black image), making sure in Windows camera settings that the camera is on, checking the F8 key to make sure it's on (icon toggles on/off, but image never appears), installing the generic Windows driver (picking the USB option from the list), manually updating the chipset driver, Fn + Esc keys to turn on camera Can anyone offer another idea? After all the time I spent setting this up, I'd hate to have to return it. Thanks!

I inherited my wife's HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop. I needed a laptop for my job. When I started to use it I noticed that it was very slow so I started to remove some of the programs that I did not need. I also unchecked many of the items that were on the "start up" menu. That improved the speed and the time needed to boot up. Things were working just fine--the laptop was a welcomed tool for my job. Then one day (about a week ago) I noticed that after I had turned it on (then I walked away while it was booting up) I had a black screen. So I forced a shut down and restarted it again--this time watching the screen to see what was happening. After I pushed the power button the screen lit up with the normal HP logo--after which the Windows XP logo appeared--after a few seconds the screen went black!! So I waited for about 30 minutes and nothing happened--still a black screen. FYI The computer had been working fine for about three weeks before the black screen business started. Before that the computer had worked fine for 5 years for my wife with no problems!! Go figure!!

Anyway, I started it again and this time I thought that I would see if I could get it to boot up in "sake mode" and it did boot okay into safe mode so I tried a "restore" to an earlier time. After the restore I tried to see if it with boot into normal made--no it would not. So I tried the restore again to an earlier time--same results--would not boot up into... Read more
