I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I've buyed my Laptop (Yoga x1 2nd gen (Type 20JE)) in 10/17 together with the Thinkpak Thunderbolt 3 Dock and Lenovo L27q-10 Monitor. Ever since then i've got some minor issues with thunderbolt like a sporadic crash or non working USB devices when I connect my dock or my external graphics card (Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Boy) - however this has gotten better after some update in early 2018 I think. After I've installed the latest Thunderbolt Firmware Update Utility (v. 1.0.12.0 - N1NTF20W) it has gotten much worse. The first think I've noticed was that my external screen turned black for 1 second like once every hour. The second thing was that the Firmware Update will be shown again in Vantage after a reboot. I've tried to install the firmware update a couple of times but every time i will shown up again after a reboot (sometimes after the second or third reboot) and even tried to install other Thunderbolt software (for other Models) and flash the .bin file in linux like described here - https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Thunderbolt-3-controller-has-expired/m-p/4416.... Hi Kressti!

Welcome to the Community,

The Thunderbolt Firmware update tool also downloads the version of Thunderbolt Controller Driver below,

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/THINKPAD-X-SERIES-LAPTOPS/THINKPAD-...

Might as well try installing it directly from the link above, and check for any changes. If the docking station that you're using is the Thinkpad Thunderbolt Driver here,

Hello! I have a Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Generation (machine type 20JD) and I am trying to solve an unrelated issue when I accidentally broke the connector on the battery that connects it into the motherboard. I cannot find any information online about what type of connector this is so that I can replace the connector. I have no need to spend $150 on a new battery, as that is completely fine. The connection on the motherboard is also fine; it is only the connector on the battery. There are 7 pins that slide into this connector. I have attached a picture.  Thank you for the help!

Hi all, In the past few days my laptop slowly degraded, starting with docking station connectivity not working (but does work with other laptops), then HDMI port not working (HDMI screen and cable works with other laptops), and now system no longer charges. Current status is that all USB-C ports (including charge) and HDMI port and not functioning. Computer doesn't charge when it is off, too.  I've looked at multiple solutions and threads on this website without any real solution. I've already tried - - run Lenovo Vantage a few times to check updates. Did the same on the Lenovo product website (using auto-discovery of serial #), everything is fully updated- Turned on/off Thunderbolt Service (on the Windows 10 control panel) - I turned it on and automatic but it always returns to Manual- Searched in the Device Manager for Thunderbolt (anything) - it's not there- Uninstalled and re-installed Thunderbolt software from the Lenovo website (both controller driver and FW, file names n1nta05w.exe and n1nth08w.exe)- Went to the BIOS/Configuration - enabled and disabled again all Thunderbolt related options - Used Paperclip to do hard reset using the emergency reset button Any ideas what left to be done?  Thanks!

My laptop screen started flickering the other day. A reboot solved the issue. Then it started happening more and more. Now I've rebooted a few times and I can't get past it. See the attached video. I don't believe it's the graphics card - if I plug in an external monitor everything is ok. Changing screen settings such as resolution also, doesn't help the issue and the issue appears even on the bios screen. I'll contact support about this, but they never have any interest in helping solve a problem remotely. They always jump to sending me a box and telling me it'll take 2 weeks to fix... which is a major problem since I work remotely and have no other PC. Also any devices I had connected to Thunderbolt ports were turning on and off. I'm not sure if the issue was related.

We have 2 X1 Yoga 2nd Gen laptops that had the same issue. Thunderbolt failure that led to a missing thunderbolt controller and no longer charging. Before anyone suggestsThings we have done:pressed the reset buttonunplugged the cmos batterychanged the battery completelyDownloaded new drivers but Thunderbolt controller is missing and can't update. (they are both dead so and I can't remember exactly what is going wrong)Can't update firmware since we can't keep it on a charger as it wont charge. Currently don't have a Yoga X1 Gen 2 doner laptop except my coworkers so he is haven't to swap the batter in and out to give it power to do more testing when he can. I am assuming this is a full board replacement as they didn't seperate the Powerboard from the Mainboard unlike what they did with the Power switch which is on a seperate board....seems odd to me. Any doner board would come from a thirdparty and isn't something we are willing to do at this time. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem as this is 2 out of the 8 we bought that are completely dead. Any help would be greatfully apprecitated. Thanks, S

Lenovo system update offered me today to install a critical update - ThinkPad BIOS UPDATE US - 8.1/10 [64], version 1.98.1.66. After the installation and windows restart, I have noticed that the system performance has gone down drastically. Process list inspection showed 'System interrupts' using 25% of the CPU, which basicaly means that a single thread is utilizing 100% of 1 logical processor. I've inspected the system log, and 1 error stood out: 'BcmNfcIc driver has failed initializing NFC device.' System log was flooded with these messages. First event was logged after the windows was restarted (after the bios update). I ran the Lenovo System update and installed the offered Broadcom NFC Driver [64] 1.3.0.190. It didn't help to resolve the issue with the NFC device initialization and consenquently CPU usage. I went to the device manager, and disabled 'NFC SMBus Device' under the system devices. CPU usage went down to 0%. Now the question is, did my NFC device actually fail, or the new BIOS update introduced this issue?

We have a number of X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (20JG) w/ EM7455 LTE cards. We have updated all drivers on some machines but we continue to have issues w/ the card at time dropping connectivity to LTE and it not returning until a reboot or a disable/enable of the LTE card. When the connectivity hangs you are unable to ping any IP addresses. This occurs randomly but is seen within an hour of waking up from a sleep.  Lastest driver as of July 29, 2019 has helped some but not fixed the problem. We have tested newer firmware version for Verizon but in those cases when the connectivity issues happen the entire card resets itself losing connectivity anyway. We have tested on Windows 10 1803 and 1903 w/ similar results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi therePlanning to order a 2nd generation X1 Yoga (20JE). According to the OCM (March edition, which, however, does not mention 20JE, but explicitly states X1 Yoga 2nd gen) among others, both the USB 3.0 Pro Dock (40A70045) and the Onelink+ dock (40A40090) would be compatibel with the Yoga, not howeber the USB-C dock (40A90090) or the Thunderbolt 3 Dock (40AC0135). I'd appreciate this in principle, as I still have the Onelink+-Dock of the 1st generation X1 Yoga. But I cannot entirely believe it, as the pictures I found of the 2nd generation X1 yoga do not show any Onelink+-Connector, but it has USB.C/Thunderbolt 3 connectors according to the specs. So what is true? Thanks! (Cross posted from German language question @ https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Kaufberatung/X1-Yoga-2nd-Gen-20JE-Dock-Kompatibilit%C3%A4t/td-p/3595825)

So my co-worked managed to knock my laptop off my desk and it was damaged, ugh... It still functions, but has the following issues:- There's a noticable blemish on the LCD screen and it will need to be replaced- The case is cracked on the right side around a USB port- The case is cracked on the left side around the power connector, and the connector itself is bent Looks like the screen alone runs $400 on Lenovo parts site, and I don't even see case parts listed. I'd prefer to replace the parts myself, but would also be willing to go to a reapair center if I had to. I'm leaning towards replacement instead of repair, but was wondering what others more experienced in laptop repairs thought. Thanks.

A:Repair or Replace? Yoga 14 Type 20FY ThinkPad

I fix machines, so my first impression is always to fix, but you have at least 3 damaged parts (jack, panel and case).  If the jack is damaged, there may be an issue with nearby parts.  I cannot be  sure without seeing it, but my guess is that you would be better off selling the broken one on eBay and buying a different one.

The screen of my Yoga 14 ThinkPad Type 20FY touchscreen has cracked. I have a few questions on how to replace the screen.

Serial Number: XXXXXXXX                               Mod edit:  Serial number removed per forum rules
Machine Type Model: 20FY0002US

1. Can I replace the touchscreen with a non-touch screen? It looks like touchscreens are delicate and expensive. I didn't want a touchscreen but Best Buy did not have that in their store.
2. What is the part number for the screen? I need it to purchase online. Online forums suggest opening the screen to see the part number. Is there a way to see part number using model, and machine type (posted above)? I need part number of non-touch screen, if that will work with the laptop.
3. What is the cheapest and reliable place to buy a replacement screen? I plan to replace it myself.

I would be appreciative of your help.

Everything is up-to-date. The problem is still present so I'm thinking to make a Service Request and before that, I want to make sure, I'm not missing something.  Do you have any idea why is fault occurs?

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... I have a yoga 3-14 Model 80JH and had the mother board replaced under warranty about 2 years ago. Never noticed any issues since  it's my daughter's main PC. However recently she has complained about performance and I was doing some checking and see that the S/N and MTM show as "invalid" in the BIOS settings. I have the full S/N and MTM info from the sticker on the back but I can't seem to find any BIOS software from Lenovo that I can use to create a bootable CD or USB to make the changes as suggested with other models. does anyone know how I might be able to update the BIOS with the correct S/N and MTM info so that the Lenovo tools will recognize the device and allow me to make updates? thanks in advance!

Hi everyone. Hopefully I can get some assistance on this particular problem. I'm looking at a faulty Yoga 2 11 laptop (i3 processor) that belongs to a friend. He told me it no longer switches on anymore. It's about 18 months old (or thereabouts). The laptop powers on and the Lenovo screen appears for about two to three seconds and then it powers off immediately with a "click". My first thoughts were dust/overheating. Well I took the back panel off and as expected the fan but mainly the vents were solid with fluff and dust (couldn't see through them). I've since found out he likes to use the laptop on the carpet and in bed so not a great surprise! The fan itself wasn't too bad, I brushed it clean and also gently cleaned it with some alcohol solution. I have ordered a replacement but it seems very tough to get hold of one in the UK so I have ordered one from China but obviously that will take a good few weeks. However the blades of the fan were not very dirty so that may not be the issue. The fan turns freely and with no resistance. Cleaned the rest of the PC, as there was heavy fluff and dust towards the top of the motherboard. RELEVANCY SCORE 61.6

Hello, I recently updated my BIOS for this laptop to the current version (1.40), and now I'm having problems with the stability of my system (god do I regret it). I used this update utility here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds111756  Now, whenever I start up my system, a Thinkvantage screen pops up briefly, followed by a screen that says "(A7) Me FW Downgrade - Request MeSpiLock Failed". I can manage to boot into either OS I have on here after that. But, when I put the laptop into sleep mode, upon waking it will just have a blank screen, followed by 4 beeps in short succession of each other, 4 times. The only way to get past this is to power down the laptop via holding the power button, and then rebooting back into the same instance of behavior described above.  I haven't had much luck finding any solutions, and I'm a little afraid to try anything since I don't want to completely brick my system. Looking for any suggestions, please. Thank you for your time. ~ Brooks
