I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I do not use SKYPE but perhaps four years ago unloaded it for a few hours (on a predecessor machine). No matter what I do I cannot find any trace of it, but Windows 7RC does. I have been using Windows Live OneCare. I deleted it and even found a short program from MS that further deleted it. I have tried 15 times this morning and while the process sometimes goes a bit further, these two ghosts are lurking somewhere in my computer and while I have found tools to suposededly remove them, nothing seems to work.

A:SKYPE and OneCare prevent installation

Don't bother with the upgrade, do a clean install, trust me, less hassle!!

Do you know how I can block others from taking snapshots of me?

Or, the alternative, why can't I even hear a click or a warning that someone has taken a photo of me during a vid call?

A:Skype - how to prevent others from taking snapshots

You can't control other peoples computers like that. If you don't like it then don't do Video Calls. Even if Microsoft some how was able to build that into Skype you still have the ability to use the system screen capture by pressing the Print Screen key or Alt + Print Screen key.

This is to discuss something regarding Microsoft Skype for business. Recently from a blog, I read some advantages about this http://www.thinktel.ca/blog/general-category/5-reasons-use-microsoft-skype-business/. Is there any windows mobile app versions of Skype for business. If then, can I get all facilities as in the desktop version. I have one more question related to this. Can I share HIPAA, FERPA, or other sensitive data using Skype for Business? I am expecting your replies. Thank you in advance.

A:About Skype for business

Skype is mostly used for making video calls, texts and most of the business companies use Skype to connect with their clients. All the Skype to Skype calls, videos , file transfer and instant messages are encrypted that is why business companies use it for remote team conference.

I'm having a Skype job interview next. The guy interviewing me is using Skype for Business. I have Skype installed on my home computer but not the business kind, just regular Skype. The guy sent me an email link to click on which says "Join Skype Meeting" - I tried clicking on it just to see what happened -- even though it's not the day for the interview -- and I got these screen messages:

"How would you like to join your meeting? "Install and join with Skype meetings app (web)" -- "Join with Skype for Business (desktop")

I've never used Skype this way before -- I've always had someone Skype me in advance of the interview, ask to be added to my "contacts" list, then they Skyped me at the designated time and I had my Skype already open to receive.

What do I do? Do I click on his "Skype for Business (desktop) link? Do I first have to open my Skype program on my laptop or install something else?

This old Luddite is really worried about screwing my interview up. Any help is GREATLY appreciated?

Let me explain my situation. I help set up computers in a small business office. They use Outlook 2010 Home & Business on their Windows 7 machines to do their emails. What happens is that for some reason ladies that work in that office have a tendency of closing the Outlook window, in which case it doesn't check for emails anymore and what I get is that they start complaining that they never receive emails I know, but it's not easy to explain the actual reason why they don't get emails... they continue closing it.

I tried this scenario myself and indeed if I click on the red X for the Outlook main window it closes without any warning or a prompt and the design of the Windows 7 taskbar makes it indeed hard to notice if it's running or not (the Outlook icon is pinned to the taskbar there.)

So I was thinking is there a setting in Outlook 2010 to show a warning before it closes? Or, can I somehow make it check for emails while it's main window is closed?

After reapplying the image and logging into a standard user account, windows re-installed the apps that i uninstalled during the audit process.

How can i prevent these apps from installing on standard user accounts? Is there a local group policy or a script that i can attach to an unattend file that can accomplish this?

If not where are these apps located so i can block them via application restrictions in the local policy.

I want to use gpedit or something to prevent my mic volume from changing at all (I want it forced 25% no matter what)

but NO Matter What I do. Skype keeps changing it all over the place! and I already disabled "automatically adjust microphone volume" in the option

But it doesnt do anything.. It keeps changing anyways.

Can I use gpedit and set a policy that prevents any program at all from changing the microphone volume?

Nothing seems to work.. I end up dragging the slider to 25% constantly fighting with it to keep the volume from getting too loud or quiet!!

note this only happens while IN a call.

Solved... By reverting to an older version of skype.. No more microphone changes! (skype 6.3)

Anyone else with this problem probably should try that as well.

Hi, I have several users that are experiencing audio issues when trying to use Skype for Business 2016.   The issue is that when they Skype call out to a contact their mic and speakers or just microphone will not work.   The microphone not working is the most common issue.   However, they can have a contact call them and their microphone and speakers will function normally.  Here are the steps that I've tried to correct the issue: Quick Repair of Office 2016.Full Repair of Office 2016.Full removal of all Office products and reinstall of Office 2016.Update to latest sound drivers Conexant ISST Audio 9.0.100.99 -- this causes both microphone and speakers to not function at all.Revert sound drivers for Conexant ISST Audio to 9.0.100.63 -- this allows for the user to be able to recieve Skype calls but not be able to make Skype calls.Full removal of all sound drivers - restart - allow Microsoft to reinstall drivers.None of the items above have fully corrected the issue and it appears to be a specific issue with the Conexant ISST Audio drivers used by HP. Any ideas on how to correct this issue? Thank you!

Hi!

There is Skype for Business 2019 and there are SfB 2016 Basic clients. The problem is that missed calls are not displayed in the client's mail. Missed conversations are saved. Outgoing calls and answered ones too, but unanswered calls not.

If you go to the mobile client under the same account, then all calls are immediately displayed.

I tried different versions of the Office - it doesn't help.

Where to dig? UC is not deployed.
There is only one user who has Office 19 Pro with a built-in Skype client and everything is fine with him. Everyone else does not work for Office 13. MAPI and EWS status - OK

There was no unified messaging system and was not included, but I noticed that in the configuration of clients it does not work for whom - ExumEnabled - TRUE, and for the one working at the office 19 and ExumEnabled - FALSE

How to change this value? In Exchange, UM accounts are disabled
----
The ExumEnabled parameter shows FALSE when executing the GEt-CSUSer command

But the Skype Exum Enabled client configuration parameters are TRUE

Hi Useless User and welcome to Tenforums.

You can disable Skype for Business from starting with Windows permanently, by opening Task Manager; under the Startup tab, select the app and click the Disable button.

Alternately, you can go to All Settings> System>Apps & features, highlight Skype Meetings App, and select Uninstall.

Hope that helps!

I wanted to finally switch back from Firefox to IE after many years, simply because IE supposedly is much better now than before, and have been having continuus speed issues with Firefox...

I Always used FF for the ability to have a Multi-tabbed session reload on start-up fairly efficiently.
But because of the speed issues SINCE the latest 700,000 updates from FF, I decided to finally go back to IE...pls don't propose Chrome. Been there done that and utterly hate it. Shouldn't even be called a browser.

So I re-installed IE, and setup the add-ons and options to my needs...one thing possitive: it is FASTER than Firefox, straight out of the box.

BUT...

Only to notice quickly that in IE, there seems to STILL be no way to prevent tabs from loading on startup ???

That effectively makes the whole "tabbed-browsing" experience useless. If you reload a Multi-tabbed session, ALL tabs load in the background, and if any streams or videos/songs are in those tabs, they all start to play and one has to shut them off tab by tab...

In FF there is a simple checkbox to prevent such needless behavior, and loads tabs only when you click them.

Even searching the web, NOBODY EVER asked this question in any forum regarding Internet Explorer. For every other browser, that option has been asked for, made available, and discussed for a VERY long time now,...yet nobody ever discussed it regarding Internet Explorer... which completely BAFFLED me ! A:IE : Any way to prevent tabs from ALL loading ??

Hi Danny welcome to SevenForums,
Hyperlinks differ I'd say if your opening a link that directs you to a specific page where music or a video is supposed to auto play it would auto play,
The only way I see around that is to adjust the url to the main site and not a specific player,
You can post one or two of the links if you wish to so we might test but there isn't any setting to control the action,
Also confirm your version ie11 or 10 ?
You can try to adjust this top section to Never check for newer versions of stored pages but I doubt that will have a positive effect and would create a new issue of refreshing the website page ?

My new Windows 7 system came with a Conexant modem installed, and I suspect that the drivers may be causing problems. If I uninstall the drivers, they do uninstall, but the next time I boot, Windows 7 automatically installs them again. How can I prevent these drivers from loading without physically removing the modem? And how can I get a list of loaded drivers in a running system to make sure they have not been loaded? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

A:How can I prevent a driver from loading?

The best thing to do is to disable your Autorun registry key via windows registry. If you're not familiar with Windows registry I suggest you do necessary readings to familiarize yourself with the process or better yet get somebody else who knows how to do it. Don't forget to save a registry back up. A single registry editing error can cause the entire computer system to crash so this should be necessary just in case something unexpected happens.

A:Prevent App From Loading with Shortcut keys

I don't know which shortcut keys, if any, but usually what I do is 'Start' 'Run' type Msconfig. Tick 'Diagnostic Startup' which only loads basic devices and services at the next boot. Or you can select 'Selective Startup' open the 'Startup' tab and un-tic the offending program and reboot. Also, you can repeatedly poke F8 during POST and select Safe Mode. Then uninstall the offending program.

Then I loaded Adobe reader 8.1 (free version) and then started to do the windows updates because none had been done. Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

The second one there worries me, and I have already uninstalled the "Killer e2200" product.

All advice/help appreciated

Nah don't worry, the cause isn't windows itself. Yes the cause is due to your Killer e2200 driver. Try updating it here.

RELEVANCY SCORE 49.2

I had skype 4.0 on my computer running Vista for a while, and used it every day. Each time I used it, it would lock up and I would have to restart my computer manually (without shutting down windows). I looked for solutions, and read that skype 3.8 did not have this problem. Within 2 minutes of my first call on skype 3.8, my computer froze and I had to push the power button. This time however, windows would not load. I get to the screen where I am given the choice of loading Vista or Ubuntu, and I choose Vista. Then it asks me if I want to start normally or run a diagnostic/corrective program the name of which I can't remember. Choosing that program does nothing, the screen just flashes. So I choose to start normally, the screen goes black for a couple seconds, then the computer turns off then back on. Ubuntu loads without any problems (I'm using it now).

Also, I have only had this computer for about 2 months, so I have trouble believing it's a hardware issue.

I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer.
