I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just received this laptop and I'm having issues with the WWAN device, Sierra EM7455. Have a SIM card in, and sometimes it works. But it is very finicky. Sometimes the device wont' start (error code: 10). Sometimes it says 'no service'.  And like I said, sometmes it works fine for no apparent reason. Is this a hardware issue? Or am I missing some key setup step? I have all the latest drivers installed and it is Verizon SIM. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, hope this is an easy one. Have a Thinkpad T470 and trying to enable 4G. I've installed a Seirra card with antenna (see below i device manager). When I switch on mobile in Windows I get 'insert SIM' on the connection. I've tried two different SIMs, one which is a Vodafone SIM that was in a ZTE mobile dongle and a new 3 data only SIM and get the same results. Any ideas? Thank you in advance

Hi, I have an Ericsson N5321 HSPA+ WWAN card from my old laptop and would like to install it in my X1 carbon 4th gen (20FC), do you know if it's possible? On the official site, only Sierra EM7345 is mentioned, but the connectors are the same. I don't mind if the Ericsson device doesn't support LTE. The X1 is WWAN-ready since it has the antennas in place. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I just ordered a second-hand T470 with a 256gb PCIe SSD and I plan on upgrading to a 500gb or 512gb SSD but trying to decide which way to go. I'm quite a novice regarding this stuff, so please forgive me. I think I read somewhere that due to the way the drive is connected a M.2 PCIe SSD may not be noticeably any better than a 2.5 SSD. Would that be correct?  I would be doing mostly basic small business computing- Excel (nothing complicated), Quickbooks, multiple browsers, Outlook, email, etc. The laptop is a t470, FHD touchscreen, i5-7300, 8gb, 256gb PCIe and I plan on adding and utilizing a WWAN card.I currently have a 3-yr old Samsung 840EVO 2.5 SSD in my T420 that I could possibly just use or could purchase a new Samsung 850EVO/Pro 2.5 SSD or 960EVO/ Pro M.2 PCIe. Any suggestions? Value is a factor. Also, I've read that only certain part numbers of the EM7455 WWAN card will work with the newer T470. Can anyone verify what I need to look for? Thanks for your help

Is it possible to place a M2 SSD in the WWAN slot of a E5570? On the internet I only find posts that people expect that it should work based on experience with other Dell models. But that feeling is not enough to convince me for buying this laptop.

If it is possible will a samsung evo 850 m2 2242 work? This SSD uses the mSATA connection and not the PCI-E.

My TPY 260 hasn't arrived yet I am just wondering if anyone here has tried this? The WWAN card uses the same M.2 connector as the regular SSD except it is B-keyed which means it would only fit a SATA SSD. Since WWAN (LTE) is not even an option at the moment I would like to be able to make use of this slot if I can. It looks as if there is space for a 42mm length M.2 SSD which would be great for dual booting windows and linux.

"60Y3255 60Y3279 04W3767" Another as "60Y3297"Another as "04W3786, 60Y3297" - stated as same model. And finally - a " 04W3767" I am not 100% sure about GPS or not - I use Linux, not Windows, so don't know if that would work, I guess, if there is a GPS that works (especially under Linux) then that would be a bonus, not a necessity. TIA K__R

One of the reasons I ended up choosing the P51s over other comperable laptops was its unparalleled expandability in a portable, quite thin package. I can't think of any other laptops, outside of the T470s, that are 15.6" or smaller, allow for more than one internal hard drive, and aren't meant to be teathered to a desk. I was informed by multiple Lenovo customer represenatives before I bought my laptop that the P51s not only had a 2.5" SATA bay, but also an open WWAN slot that could be used to house an m.2 SATA SSD. I just got around to buying an m.2 SATA SSD for the slot, but my laptop is rejecting it. It won't even boot unless I disable the WWAN slot (from the BIOS) entirely. What gives? I thought I could put an SSD in the slot--that was one of the reasons I bought the laptop!

Is the WWAN slot on the side of my new Thinkpad Yoga 15 just for show?  I cannot seem to find out anything.  What kind of SIM card does it take?  What carriers would support it?  What would I tell a cellular carrier I need in order to buy service and plug a SIM card into it.  There seemto be as many SIM card types as there are snowflakes.   What is my IMEI number?  How do I find it?  I know I sound like a dweeb, but I'm really interested in being able to use this feature if in fact it is not just for show.  It would be SO nice to have anywhere cellular service when I travel.

Hello and welcome,

Not all TP Yogas have WWAN capability.  Most laptops and convertibles have a SIM slot since that's part of the basic structure of the machine but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a WWAN card installed.

What's your MT-M (machine type-model)?  It will look something like 20DQ007YUS - an example which doesn't have a WWAN card installed.

Hi,So maybe this is already known by everyone else in the world but me. As the P50/P70 come pre-installed with no WWAN module, but with the antennas and antenna wires already present, one would assume it can become upgraded with the WWAN module when it becomes available? Now this appears in German (post 38): http://www.notebookchat.com/index.php/topic,55724.30.htmlFor those that don't read German, here's a rough translation of what the author/reviewer at Notebookcheck.com, Andreas Osthoff, wrote: "Hello everybody, we now have a statement from Lenovo regarding the LTE modems: "The current ThinkPad P50 and Thinkpad P70 are unfortunately NOT 'WWAN (LTE) READY' eventhough some models already were pre-built with the required antennas. It is - as it currently seems - likely not possible that a WWAN (LTE) post-install option for the ThinkPad P50 and ThinkPad P70 will come. The reason:The WWAN (LTE) module operates at a frequency of 2133 MHz, the same as the Skylake CPU used together with DDR4 memory @ 2133 MHz. This causes "interferences" to occur, i.e. overlay phenomenas when radio waves collide." He also writes that the P50/P70 will be delivered with pre-built WWAN/LTE options from April. To me, the Thinkpad P50 looks more and more like a rushed product. The bad thing for Lenovo is that this is their top-of-the-line Workstation series notebook.I am still hoping that this statement is made from someone at Lenovo who didn't know what he/she was talking ... A:P50/P70: Upgrading with WWAN later won't be possib...

I don't believe that the issue is the LTE frequencies (although there are many bands defined). The only deployment that I could determine which might have a problem was in the Czech Republic where the LTE frequencies start at 2120 MHZ. The DDR4 modules under the keyboard are shielded a metal cover which must be removed (and then replaced) when accessing the memory slots.

How can I add a wireless card to the Carbon X1?  The original answer was "can't be done" becuase the computer is a sealed case and has no capability for it.  I call BS!!  The computer obviously has a slot for it, a Sim card holder, and the option to order it from the factory with wireless.  How to add wireless to a non-wireless Carbon X1?

Moderator note: edited subject to match content.  Was:  Docking stations for X1 Carbon.

A:X1 Carbon: add WWAN card

You don't say which generation X1C you have, but AFAIK you can add a WWAN card.  Instructions are in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your particular model.

The challenge will be antennas if they aren't already installed, and finding a card that passes the BIOS whitelist.

This isn't something I can address in detail, but if you'll list your MT-M - like 20FB002SUS as an example of a WWAN-upgradable unit - others will probably be able to help.  (Upgradable means that the antennas are already in place.)

A:Aftermarket WWAN P-series?

You can order the WWan card from Lenovo at any time and install it yourself. I don't know about any aftermarket WWan card. The ability to do mobile broadband has become an indispensible part of my development station (P50). When I'm in my trusted environment (ie, my office) I have the WWan disabled. But when I'm at a client facility there are many times that I don't want the security exposure of logging into their wireless and can resort to the WWan.  Last spring, I went on a "roadie" and many of the hotels I stayed in did not even have password protected wireless. It was nice to get a little work done without worrying about compromising my entire operation. The WWan is a stable, secure, and fairly inexpensive connection for a variety of situations. Couldn't live without it now!

Hello everybody. I live in South Africa. We have a budding LTE network. I purchased a Sierra Air Prime MC7710 WWAN card. Mainly for it's supported frequency ranges on 3G and partially for its LTE support. It is not whitelisted in the BIOS (2.50). There has been an upgrade to the T430, X230 etc. in January 2013, to whitelist this card see:  http://support.lenovo.com/es_BO/detail.page?DocID=UM015721 . It is used a lot in Europe - same frequency ranges as in South Africa. Currently, short of buying an outdated Ericsson cad I have no way to get internal WWAN on this notebook. Real pity since it's brilliant in all other regards. My question to the board and Lenovo support is if there is any likelyhood of this card being whitelisted in a BIOS update not too far down the line, or if I have to resort to the BIOS hacks which essentially bypass the whitelist checking. I can probably do the BIOS mod, albeit fairly risky from what I gather. It's also my main and only workmachine, so I can't really afford downtime if I mess it up. Are there other W530 users which need this card? Maybe collectively bringing it to the attention of Lenovo might get things moving. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks,Malte

A:W530 with MC7710 WWAN

Hi Malte, I have the same problem or doubt with my T420s. On http://www.lenovoquickpick.com/ I find that the Sierra MC7700 and 7750 are available from Lenovo, so I guess they are whitelisterd. But for Europe I need the MC7710. And this link http://support.lenovo.com/es_BO/detail.page?DocID=UM015721 confirms that for the W530 the MC7710 is not approved, because it is not in. But the T420s is not in the list of laptops anyway, only the successor T430s and for this one the link shows that the MC7710 is suited. Anyway, your call to Lenovo to make sure the MC7710 works for the W530 I would like to endorse. If in this action the can also give the T420s a glance, that would help me greatly of course. Any news or support info is welcomed. Regards, Francine Lenovo Thinkpad T420s 4174PEG with SAMSUNG PRO 840 SSD, 16Gb Kingston DDR memory

I purchased my Yoga 260 ThinkPad (i5) in December '15 from IBM website (USA).  Spoke with terchnical sale prior to purchase to verify that the unit had WWAN capability as stated in the many marketing releases.  I was told that it was LTE capable and Lenovo was waiting for the WWAN card availability.  About a month later I called to check on status of availability.  No specific date was given, BUT I was given an FRU # for WWAN card (00JT542) specific to my Yoga 260 model # (provided my exact model # to technical assistance).  I then ordered the card from IBM Parts online.  The initial ETA was February '16.  Finally arrived in June '16.  The arriving part was a  "Sierra Wireless Airprime  Model: EM7455"  Qualcomm card.  Just yesterday I went to install the card following instructions in the Yoga 260 Thinkpad user guide.  The SIM card slot/tray is functional and the WWAN fits nicely in the chassis (no holding screw though).  However, there are no attenae connections.  The integrated LTE functionality was the compelling reason for my purchase.  Of course there are other work arounds to get LTE, but had I known the unit wasn't capable with the integrated card, I would not have purchased it.   I'm not sure where to start to get response/accommodation from IBM.  Does anyone else have similar situation and/or suggestions on how to ... A:No WWAN capability for Yoga 260?!

Hello TD22, welcome to the community,

The user guides are generic and cover all possible system configurations, the same applies to harware maintenance manuals, and may feature options which are not present on your particular system.

The early Yoga 260s were not equipped with WWAN or WWAN antennae because at that time no international agency approvals had been received for the transmit and receive functions. Systems which are agency qualified may have WWAN integrated at the factory or be WWAN ready with factory installed antennae but no WWAN module.

The thing is, the computer acknowledges the wwan card in the BIOS section but I does not appear in the Device manager panel. But there are weird objects appearing in it with yellow exclamation mark. I installed the necessary drivers but still no luck. Here is the screenshot  I have also upgraded my OS to Windows 10 before I did the wwan card installation. Any help guys would be highly appreciated!!! Lots of love, Jayson

I use a WWAN PCMIA card in my laptop for broadband connectivity on Verizon Wireless. The broadband connection works great BUT I would like to be able to use the card for my desktop too . . . don't need to pay for two broadband services.

There are two approaches I would like to explore:

1. is there a plug-in PCMIA adapter that I can use on my desktop through a USB port or otherwise?

2. the ideal solution would be some way to connect the WWAN card to a wireless router so I can use more than one computer at a time while still being able to remove the card for road trips. So how can I do this?

Direct replies to my email, [email protected], are appreciated. If you have any other options to the two listed, I'm open to suggestions.
