I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Earlier today, I had shut the lid on my Chromebook (putting it into standby mode) and had put it away. At this point it had full power. About half an hour later, I had opened it up again, but it had shut off, and I coudn't get it to turn on again until I plugged it in to auxilary power. When it revived, it still had full battery, but had forgotten the details of the network until I had signed in. This is similar to another issue, wherein the system will occasionally stop opening and running user-installed applications and block any access to local storage (such as viewing and downloading files), citing lack of permission (which does not apply otherwise), until restarting and logging in again. My device is fully up-to-date on the stable update stream. Why am I having these issues? Are there any ways to fix this permanently (aside from purchasing a different device)?

HI,

Has any one modified a Power Suply to Take 12 volt DC Input?

I would very much like to hear from you, or any one you may of heard of that has done this.

I wanted to Put a desktop case etc. in my car and use it to listen to music...

Thanks to anyone who replies...

A:DC Input Power Supply (12 volt input)

A standard Computer PSU rectifies the incoming mains (120 or 240 volt) and the "chops" it in a switchmode type power conversion.

Therefore as it starts with a high DC voltage (120 or 240 V AC rectified to DC) there is no easy conversion to make it use 12 V instead. Without a complete rebuild and redesign of the PSU.

By far the cheapest and easiest way is to use an off-the-shelf 12 V inverter that converts 12V to 120 or 240 V AC, and then you dont need to bother rebuilding the power supply from scratch.

Has the advantage of easily sourced power supply units for the PC. You would likely get away with a small 200 Watt unit.

My Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 doesn't recognize charger any more. And unfortunately my warranty expired 2 month ago.It was plugged in and working in the morning, but then in the afternoon I noticed that it was running on the battery only. It wont start without battery (just charger plugged in).
1. So here what I have done to debug. Me and my brother, we have purchased the same Dell laptops at the same time a year and a bit ago. This is why for a debugging purposes it was good.I took my charger and plugged in to his computer. And it works. Definitely not the charger issue I guess. And when I plug charger in to my computer, green light is still on the charger. And I have the original charger that came with the laptop.
2. Now, laptop works on the battery only, so this means that motherboard is working. I guess.
3. Next thing I did was unplugged charger and removed the battery from the laptop. Then I pushed and hold "Power" button for 45 seconds to discharge a flea charge. Plugged charger back in but laptop wont start.
4. Next I started laptop on the battery, went to BIOS and checked if the charger is recognized in the BIOS. No, it doesn't recognize charger. So, if it is not a charger then what else can it be?
5. Laptop doesn't have any strange smells so I'm not sure if anything happened with the motherboard, but I would assume mother board is ok because it works of the battery.
6. I was thinking updating the BIOS, but I can't, because it wont update whi... Read more

A:Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 doesn't work with charger. Charger is not recognized. Not charger problem.

Hi CJ777,
Thanks for reaching out with your query. You pretty much figured out all points of failure. Good job.
If the adapter is not detected in BIOS, it most likely is an issue with the mother board. In the BIOS set up, AC adapter should show up as 65w or 90w. If the adapter status is 'None' or 'Unknown Device Installed', it indicates that the mother board is not detecting the adapter for which the battery is not getting charged. Once the battery charge drains, I'm sure the adapter will not charge it again. Replacing the system board should resolve this issue.

I really don't want to take it into the shop so if anyone knows what's going on or knows how to fix this please let me know! It started about a month ago when it would say that it was 100% charged so I would take it off the charger and it would immediately drop to 6%. About a week ina half went by and when I would take it off the cord and it would say 6% it would die a few seconds after. Now it dies immediately, before I even have the charger completely taken out. Anything helps! Thanks!

I purchased a refurbished Yoga 13 from the Lenovo outlet in January. The charging port broke shortly after, but it still charged just fine. The center post in the charging port separated from rest of the port. It still works fine to this day, but it won't last forever and I want to get it fixed before my warranty is up. That side of the laptop is separated a little, like  screw isn't attached properly or something and I feel this is most likely the reason it was damaged. Will this be covered under my warranty, and if it is not where do I find a replacement part so I can repair it myself? Thank you.

hi SephirothWGP,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Physical damages are not usually covered under the warranty (i.e. cracked screen, bent pins, etc.) but in your case, if you think that there's something internal that caused the charging port issue then I recommend you contact lenovo to report the issue (they'll probably ask you to send the unit in for service and have a technician take a look at it to see if it's covered or not).

In the event that it's not covered, you can fix the charing port by replacing the following part:

145500046 - CABLE DC-IN_JACK_MOCHA2_ASSY

You can get spare parts via the lenovo spare parts website - http://www.lenovospareparts.com (if a part is out of stock, click Help on the upper right corner and fillout the contact form for an ETA). Doing a google search should give you third party websites that also sells the same part - like this one.

Hope this helps

A:Yoga 900 charger troubles

Welcome to the forum.

From your description of the problem it would seem that the wiring in the charger has become defective. Due to the potential safety hazard I would stop using it.

If your Y900 is still under warranty I would contact Lenovo to get a replacement. Otherwise you'll have to buy a new charger.

A year ago I bought a Lenovo Yoga 500 from a retailer in Greece. After three or four months it showed problems (like not powering up, or not starting up).I had it fixed at a verified service agent in Greece for Lenovo (CPI) with no further explanation ( but they also deleted all my files without warning - very unprofessional! ) without taking any responsibility for this. After five or six months, it showed the same problems again, so I gave it again to the same service store. They fixed it again. When they gave it back to me, there was a note: "The charger is from another Lenovo product and not from Lenovo Yoga 500 (it does not have grounding). The charger I have is similar to the following one: The details of charger is Model Number: ADLX65SDC2AOutput: 20V 3.25ANo groundingwhile my lenovo Yoga on the bottom it says 20V 2.25A I asked them, why don't they provide me with the correct charger, and their reply is that I have to speak with the retailer who sold me the netbook. So I went over to the store and asked them to solve the issue. Their reply was that they could not cover the insurance (2 years) on chargers, but only for notebook parts. After my arguments and my disagreement with their approach, they offered me two solutions:1) Either they will speak with CPI to find out what's going on or2) They will give me a new charger with a 40% cut on the price. I disagreed again, and finally they told me that they would unoficcialy swap my old charger with another one (used)... I have gone through seven chargers. I sent my laptop  in to replace the charging adapter on the laptop as I thought there might be a short. Got a back from the shop and same thing happened again. I?ve used different power sources in different countries and the same thing keeps happening so it?s not the electrical source. Contacted Lenovo and they said they?ve never heard of anything like this happening.  Other than that the computer works fine until the charger BURNS up and then I have to buy a new one to get the laptop start again.  Anybody have any guesses on what it might be?

I've purchased FOUR replacement cords now for my computer.   Each one, including the original, has developed the same problem.   It eventually won't connect to the wall outlet unless I jiggle it just right.  And then I have to make sure I don't jiggle or else the computer will come unplugged.  It eventually makes a sparking noise sometimes when I plug it in.   And sometimes I have even seen a spark.   This surely has to be a fire hazzard.   Does anyone else have this problem?   I wonder if Lenova shouldn't recall these cords.   These were all Lenova brand cords purchased through Best Buy.  I just bought my next replacement today, and I'm sure it will develop the same problem.

Hi All,I'd be pretty happy with yoga 3 pro if not one serious problem. It is very easy to break near it's power socket. Look at the photo. When you have it charging it is extremely easy to touch something with a power cord. Its long plug provides a lever, breaking its (metallic!) top keyboard surface doesn't require any force at all. In fact you don't notice it. If you place it on a table you should be careful not to let some book or even a thick pen to be put under a plug, otherwise it breaks the keyboard too. I broke it some time ago, lenovo service center took about 100 euro to fix it replacing the whole keyboard. And that very moment it was clear that breaking it again is virtually inevitable. You just can't think about this plug all the time. And indeed 6 months after it is broken again :-( I think for a device like this a magnetic charging plug is a necessity.

My Yoga S1 has contradictory, intermittent power issues that I'm trying to chase down. Culprits are bad power bric/cord/plug or power socket on mother board or power board that feeds into power button/led on. One day it blacked out and wouldn't restart to hard drive or windows stage. I did get an error code which I can't remember 5100 or 5500 poss?, that seemed to indicate the power board or ribbons to that needed replacement or re-attachment. So fiddled with it and it did fire up in windows all ok. Then ran out of power and died again. power button wouldn't light up. plugging in power unit did light up led as getting charge. Left it overnight and then it miraculously charged up. pushed power button light up twice then nothing. took out power board/detached ribbon, then it fired up to windows, fixed some hd errors and has been restarting without problems. Except now there is no plug showing on battery icon when plugged in. So not recharging but I'm sure the battery is good. And logically, the power brick and plug must be feeding electricity into laptop to get it to recharge enough to start up. So power socket and plug may be suspect with intermittent contact problems. Or the power board somehow is involved in this? I've ordered a new powerboard as easy screw in and cheap. My question about powerboard is does this control ability of plug to charge battery? power brick with new plug is next order from ebay. but the power socket, which see... Since two screwdrivers are missing on the bottom of the laptop the yellow port has been moving for a while, such as sometimes coming off a bit so I have to push the bottom to get the port back inside.  My warranty expired over a year ago and I don't know what to do now. I researched and saw that you can replace the charger port by buying a new one and taking off the cover at the bottom of the laptop in order to replace the broken one. But should I fix it myself or should I take it to a professional to fix it for me, even though my warranty expired long ago? Please help! I would really appreciate it.

I just got a new Yoga 370 and I was wondering if it is wise to always plug in the power adopter when I use it at my desk. I have some bad experiences doing this to other PC in the past as it ruined the battery capacity over time. Any suggestions? Thanks!

A:Power charger in or out?

Hello and welcome to the CommunityIn order to save the battery healthy, set its charging threshold in Lenovo Settings application. For example, stop level 85-90%. After that, keep the AC charger plugged in anytime, the battery controller will care about battery.
