Java Install error 1603 on Java 8u45

Q: Java Install error 1603 on Java 8u45

I am having issues getting Java to Install on a Windows 7 Pro PC in a stand alone environment.
Error Code 1603. Java is needed on this PC to be able to print shipping labels from FEDEX.com. I am trying to install using the administrator account. I have removed previous versions of Java. I have removed the MS updated KB2918614.
The java uninstall tool doesn't run because Java is required to run the java uninstall tool. I have run multiple Microsoft Fixit Tools. This is the second PC I have had this error with in this office. Does anyone have any thing more to offer that
might assist me. I have "Google'd" this error for 2 weeks now. Help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You!

Preferred Solution: Java Install error 1603 on Java 8u45

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

According to official site of Oracle, This is a known issue with Microsoft KB2918614The root causes of these errors are under investigation. If this error still persists after uninstalled this update.
You could try following zooeyhall?s suggestion to download and install a previous version of Java or try creating a new administrative user account and install Java with the new account.
Regarding to JAVA installation error, I?d suggest that we post at JAVA forum for further support. There you can get more effective suggestion by other experts who familiar with it. Your understanding is highly appreciated.

Installing Java on my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS results in this error:

Neither the previous (8.0.60) nor the new version (8.0.66) of Java show up in the "Programs\Uninstall a program" in the control panel. Java is not detected by third-party uninstall programs either, such as Comodo program manager. In Explorer both versions' folders are in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java" folder. Scanned the registry for java entries and there are a slew of them.

Attempting to run javacpl.exe in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_66\bin" folder results in an "Unable to run program... " error message. For that matter, any other executables, like jawa.exe, javaws.exe, etc., result in the same. Checking the java version on line at java.com shows that no java detected. Java does not show up in Qualys browser check either.

Despite the above, java shows up in the browser as enabled and it actually does work, both in IE and FF. Searched online for resolving the error 1603 and none of them worked for my system. What I have not found is how to clean the system for the current installations, both the registry and the folders. Deleting the folders is trivial, but the chances are that some registry setting causing this error. Any suggestion would be appreciated...

The first run it told me it did not install Error 1603 and I tried again. Then it uninstalled the old version. In both cases the result told me it was unsuccessful.
I restarted and found that the destination folder was occupied turns out that both versions were still listed there but not in the control panel. I put them in the trash.
I also followed the secondary instruction to use the Java Control Panel but it was not found when I did as instructed on the Java site.
I restarted & tried to reinstall again no luck. Restart again no luck. I have the download on my desktop.
The current folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_121
indicates the program is there but it does not show in control panel. Pic attached

That's what's happening.
I have tried internet research solutions to no avail. Finally had to come ask for help from you guys!

I uninstalled the previous Java update (jre-7u71-windows-i586.exe) I had on my laptop. Then tried to install the latest update (jre-8u31-windows-i586.exe). It would start to install, then I would get error code 1603.

I tried to reinstall the older update. It would not reinstall. Same error code 1603. I guess I am currently without Java.

That sums up the basic problem. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

For the past few hours I have been trying to install 64 bit java after I uninstalled 32 bit java. I went to the control panel, went to java, and uninstalled it. I tried to install 64 bit java and got error 1603 and now I can't even go back to 32 bit. I've tried multiple cleaners, tried looking on Java's site, deleted all java items in C:, looked all over the internet, and I still have not solved this. Are there any other methods that I have not tried?

I've having a few problems that apparently may be related.

1) Vista Backup stops with Catastrophic error 0x8000FFFF.

2) A search on error 0x8000FFFF says that it may have something to do with Java.

3) Java's site says that I don't have Java installed.

4) Downloading Java ends with a Java error 25099, the zip file wont unzip properly?

5) Explorer closes down frequently and has to re-start.

6) Java is in the "Program files" but not registered in Control Panel un-install programs?

So, what does all this mean and what can I do about it?

How do I find out if I have Java working on my PC? Why wont the Java download unzip?

The only option I can see is to un-install Java from Program Files manually, do a Registry Repair and then start over with trying to install Java again.

I'll do this but I thought that someone may know something else about this that would be important to know.

So, does anyone know anything else about this and what to do?

I've downloaded the latest Java, jre-7u7-windows-i586.exe, and tried to install it. It says "Installation Failed. The wizard was interrupted before Java 7 Update 7 could be complete installed."

Then it takes me to a Java "help" website where I tried to follow what it said. It said to uninstall all previous Java versions through Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs before downloading and installing Java. It also asked me to download the "Offline" Java version, which the file indicated above is.

Well in Add/Remove Programs, after it took many MANY minutes (about 20 minutes) for it to load a listing of all installed software, showed both an older Java 6 and Java 7 (update 5) version installed. In trying to uninstall the existing Java programs, I would get error messages...
"Fatal Error during installation"

This would be the message although I'm trying to uninstall the program. What can I do??? Please help.

I'll keep it short. I have tried to access POGO as I have before. Now I'm getting an error message that the game I wanted to load will not because of an Error! You need Java to do this and I have loaded the latest Java from Oracle at least 10 times. Same error. I made sure all Java Icons are enabled through out my system. I am using Vista with IE 8. I used POGO troubling shooting to find any issues. The test for Java and the POPUP blocked tests come back fine and it says to enjoy my game, but when I try again the game fails to come up and I again get the error message.

I tried to contact HP of course I'm out of coverage. I tried to go online to chat with HP, as I found that they will help but, now the help line is also having problems with Java. They do not see it...
I get the message "No Java Support. Please install java virtual machine". I tried to reinstall Java again and it tells me that I'm up to date and no installation is needed.

I have been working on this problem for 2 weeks.... I'm retired and can not afford to pay someone...

Please help if you can Please.... Thanks

The thread title states the problem. I have downloaded JDKs several times, most recently a half-hour ago. The same situation exists when I confirm that I would like to accept the most recent Java update.

A:Cannot Install Java Compiler or Java Updates

Java may not be working correctly on your system. The Java (Sun) website offers a lot of help and suggestions to correct possible problems. Here are some links that you might explore to resolve your issue(s):

To find out if Java is working properly on your system visit: Test your Java Virtual Machine (JVM), and then, go to the Java website for the most recent Java downloads.

To check which version of Java you have, go to: Verify Java Version
and Java Help

There are several different Java apps, and you may not have downloaded the correct one for your system (and for your needs). One common problem is that if you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers interchangeably, you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java in order to have the Java plug-in for both browsers.

There is also a lot of help offered at this site: Java + You Under the big red /Free Java Download’ button in smaller print is a link to a Java scan called: "Do I have Java?" Let Java scan your machine and see what the results are. If the scan says your machine doesn't have Java installed click the option to install the latest Java version. If the scan says you already have a previous version of Java installed, you can go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, left-click Java to highlight it, and Uninstall it.

The info on the box I'm having the issue with is below.

The story is that this box is an older Dell that my work was giving away. Our IT guy basically wiped the box and put XP back on, and that's about it.

The problem is that there is no Java on the machine, and I can't seem to install it. I have downloaded the installer "jxpiinstall.exe" to my desktop and tried to run it, but it hangs immediately after I click on "Install" on the welcome screen. I get to the next window, but there's no progress and it [the window] will literally sit there for hours until I kill it via task manager.

I am hoping somebody here can at least point in in the right direction on how to diagnose and ultimately fix this. All input is greatly appreciated.

I tried to install Yawcam and it called for Java.

Tried to install Java and the install hung.

Checked some threads and came back and tried a standalone install.

The standalone didn't seem very standalone, still seemed web based to me, but anyway...

The Install quickly informed me that the install was unsuccessful - like almost immediately, before even trying, like it had read that info from some log the previous install had left.

I tried to Uninstall. Doesn't show on Windows list of installed progs.

Tried Java Uninstall service or prog or whatever they call it

It wouldn't run because it apparently needs Java to run.

So here I am. Win7 with no Java on it. And Win7 I can't begin to try to put Java on it because of the Java on it.

Any ideas what I could do?

The machine is 64bit, i3, Asrock motherboard.

Hello to everyone!

I am currently experiencing this Java problem that I only encounter when updating my Vuze Bittorrent Client. I am just updating it to newer version but every time I try, the error pops up. The complete error is:

"An error occurred: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException"

After clicking OK button, the setup ends. And when I re-try to install the update, the Vuze Installation Wizard will show this message:

"The installer did not start up correctly on the last run. This is probably caused by a corrupted Java VM. Do you want to download or manually select the JVM?"

When I choose YES, the installer will download the file but will fail and will show the Java error. When I choose NO, the installer will proceed normally but will show the same Java error.

I manually update my Java to the latest version which is Version 7 Update 45 but problem still persists. I checked my Java version by going to https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp.

If you have questions, feel free to ask. I need your help on this since I'm a bit cautious when dealing with this Java since I don't know much about it.

Thanks in advance!

A:Java Error : java.lang.RuntimeException when Updating Vuze

Well; first thing i would try is completely uninstalling Java; and then reinstalling it. Then;(make sure any files retrieved from the bit torrent client are backed up if possible) uninstall the bit torrent client and reinstall that. Try these things and report back and we can go from there if not solved.

I have a Windows XP computer that started having Java problems. We tried to uninstall it and install a new one but can't do either one.

The computer currently has both Java and on it.

Whenever I try to uninstall 16 it says 'The feature you are trying to install is on a Network Resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the installation package jre1.6.0_13-c.msi'

Whenever I try to uninstall 18 it says the same but says jre1.6.0_17-s.msi can't be found.

I've searched the computer for these files and they are nowhere.

So I tried to install a new version without getting rid of the old and neither Java's online or offline installers will work. They give me several different errors. Once it said Error 1714. 'The older version of Java 6 Update 16 cannot be removed.' and once it even gave me the exact same error from above, once it said bin\awt.dll could not be found and it always adds in Error 1722 'There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the set up did not finish as expected'

I tried deleting Java manually and then reinstalling and that didn't help either so I just moved everything back the way it was.

Searching google found a bunch of people saying to use the Windows Installer Cleanup to remove the old Java but that program is no longer offered by Microsoft. Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Okay so I had java installed then I uninstalled it and pushed all my programs to a secondary HD so I could have a dedicated SSD os drive. The problem was I couldn't seem to get it to uninstall correctly.

So I used a uninstalling program to remove it which was the worst idea ever I guess, cause now when i try to reinstall it gives me a "blah blah would you like to reinstall Java" Cause it somehow thinks it's still on there, but when I click reinstall it gives me "There is no valid software found" or something along that line I didn't memorize it.

Anyone that can help me solve this problem would be a life saver since I use Java on a daily bases and would love to not have to reformat my HD over this issue.

Followed directons for Error 1101 at "http://java.com/en/download/help/6000070600.xml" to unregister, register Windows Installer Service but still same error. Next uninstalled all java entries in control panel, ran Ccleaner for files. Tried installing, still same error. Next exited antivirus, antispyware & stopped Windows defender. Tried install, same error.

Had hoped to try installation in safe mode - but computer acts as if my login there is not at amin. level, and I know it is. Have run out of possible solutions and now have no Java for IE - cripples viewing a number of sites I frequent, I.E. weather radar. Please help.

I've been updating some of my computers (the ones that run Vista that I never like to use) and I've been able to update Java on all of them except for one. They are all pretty much the same computer so I'm not sure where to start looking for the problem.

I've googled for the answer, and have used Java help resources online, but the solutions provided on Microsoft and Java sites don't help. I was able to uninstall the previous Java entry, but after that I still couldn't get the newest download to work from online or the download to desktop copy that is offered as an alternative for that error code.

Is there any place I can look next? I did find one log entry, but I don't understand it at all.

Hi folks. Sure could use some expertise here. I uninstalled my old versions of Sun Java to try to clean up possible security holes. Removed all the entries from Add/Remove programs and then tried to install the jre 1_5_08 version.

No matter what I have tried, I keep getting the 1722 error near the end of the install. It seems to result in a partial install even though it aborts. I uninstall everything I can find related to the attempted install and try again to no avail.

I've tried installing to a different folder and still get the error. I'm running XP home SP2 all critical updates. Does anyone have a specific fix for this problem?

This is very strange. I bought a new PC for my mom a week ago. It came with XP, and I did all the upgrades, etc. When we plugged her HP 950 scanner, printer, fax into it, it installed itself...right?

Well, the odd thing is...to use the fax machine and scanner ...we have to have HP Director installed, which is on the CD that came with it. It worked fine on her old computer. And it is XP compatible.

When I tried to install with the CD, it said this printer was already installed. so I uninstalled, and tried again. It got halfway through the installation, and then had some error FLASH on the screen that said something about "installation not completed, java error"...it was too fast for me to get it all, but it happened TWO separate times.

I did uninstall again, and unplugged the printer, and tried it again...same thing happened. Everything installs fine BUT when we open HP Director, only a half little window comes up, with no way to make it bigger or anything...It is like it is corrupt.
I did everything HP site said to do, but nothing worked. any ideas? And on top of that, suddenly today the Works Word Processor has started typing every letter halfway on top of the letter before it and I can't fix it. I posted -that- question in the software area, but was told it may be related to the printer.

Thanks so much!

I then attempted the following: (same error each time)
Removed all old versions of Java
tried manual install of Java
Removed antivirus and firewall (w/manual install also)
tried "JavaRa"

Thought maybe a virus so did the following....
Ran full system scan with Kapersky, (updated of course) - nothing
Tried "Malwarebyles" - WOULD NOT LOAD!! (Java?)
Tried "SUPERAntiSpyware" - nothing
tried "Housecall" nothing
Tried to uninstalll malwarebytes with removal tool, and re-install.. same error..

ran microsoft "fix it" did not work...

Don't know what else to do....

You will have to Reregister the Windows Installer service. Shutdown and restart in
Safe Mode, make sure you logon as the Administrator.

Unregister and then reregister Windows Installer

1.Click Start>Run, type cmd.exe, then click OK.
2. At the command prompt, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK (Type it just the way I have it with the space between the c and /).

Reregister Windows Installer

1. Click Start>Run
2. In the Open text box, type msiexec /regserver, and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, type exit, and then press Enter to close the command.
4. Remove Java using the Add/Remove program, if it's there. Reboot, then install Java again.
Let us know how things turn out.

I've seen fixes for other Windows OS's using the wrong install - but that is not the case here/

Hello all!

It's finals week and I cannot access any of my notes or programs. Whenever I try to use Open Office, a "fatal error" occurs and the program crashes before the document gets pulled up.

I try reinstalling, but Internal Error 2716 occurs.

Tried Solutions:
1. I ran the "check disk option" to automatically fix any errors, etc... TWICE

Any help will be VERY appreciated! Going to fail out of undergrad otherwise, and got some Asian parents to deal with should that come to pass.

I'm on a new computer, Windows 7 64-bit, and I'm having some issues with Java. I've seen a couple of error messages from programs that refer to Java (one referred to JavaScript specifically), but when I've tried to research it, it seems like all's well with Java on my system.

I went to the Java site, and today it said there's an update, so I downloaded it. It said nothing about first uninstalling anything, so I assumed that's not necessary. While the installer was running I got an error message:

error copying file to c:\windows\SysWOW64\npDeployJava1.dll

I clicked OK and the installer just kept going, then told me it's all installed, which seems weird if there's an error and some file may be missing.

I really don't know anything about Java. I know that lots of programs require it be installed, but I have no clue what sort of programs need it and why. Really, this particular program is largely a mystery to me.

How do I figure out if it's functional? Should I have uninstalled it before updating? I've looked at that option, but in my Programs there are three things listed named Java, and I have no idea if any or all of them are relevant: Java(TM) 7 Update 1 (64-bit), Java(TM) 7 Update 5, JavaFX 2.1.1

Update 1 evidently came with the computer, because it was installed in March, before I had it.

There are also a couple of items named Java in my Firefox Plugins: Java Deployment Toolkit 10.... Read more

My Zone Alarm program has picked up two viruses in the space of about a week, Exploit.Java.CVE-2009-3867d six days ago and Trojan-Downloader.Java.Agent.cf today. * After the first, I updated and ran Malware-Bytes and online ESET virus scan. Computer was apparently clean. Zone Alarm was set to do a full scan only every month (! and I'm sure I set it to scan daily.) There are no scan logs for either the ZA antivirus or firewall.* After the downloader trojan appeared, I updated and ran Malware-Bytes, and again it showed no infection.
