installer archive corrupt error 42145, what can I do?

Preferred Solution: installer archive corrupt error 42145

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm attempting to install windows to a 40GB SSD and I continuously receive the error 0x80070570. My first thought when I got the error was that it could have been an issue with the file itself. So I redownloaded it and still got the same error and from there I've tried nearly everything listed in other threads relating to this issue. Here's a synopsis of everything I've done thus far.

Removed old hardware, replaced with new mobo, cpu and gfx card
Downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium from microsoftstore.com
Using the Microsoft supplied tool I created a bootable USB flash drive with the ISO
Powered the new hardware on for the first time resulting in a clean boot with zero errors
Booted to Win7 install, ended up with Error 0x80070570
Redownloaded the ISO, Remounted it on the flash drive
Attempted install, still errored
Repeatedly attempted the install sometimes resulting in a freeze of the installer but usually the same error message
Tried installing on my other SSD
Cleaned and reseated RAM and Slots
Did a secure wipe of both SSDs and retried install on both
Attempted install with the ISO burned on a DVD using low speed...same error
Tried reburning multiple times with the same error each time
Ran 5 passes of memtest on both ram sticks in all possible configurations. 0 errors

After all of these steps I still cannot complete an installation. The install errors out at different points of the "expanding" step each time.

Finally in a spate of desperation I tried usin... Read more

There should be a MD5 checksum (or similar) on the MS site that you can use to check the download to make sure it's okay.

Do you have an old SATA or ISE drive you try in this computer, see if that works?
Also, check your BIOS Setup, make sure it's not setup for RAID, make it AHCI if possible.

A:installer archive is corrupted

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Are you still having this problem? If so, do the following:
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and... Read more

I recently discovered a program I had downloaded a while ago is laced with a virus and deleted it. I scanned and removed all viruses and spyware, but kept seeing spyware pop up when I haven't even done a thing later in the day. I rebooted and did a max level heuristic boot scan and found 3-4 rootkits and this installer problem.

Documents and settings\(my name)\local settings\temp\GLBBB.tmp|>wise0003.bin error 42145 {installer archive is corrupted}

Some of the rootkits were in the program I had downloaded but one was in the system restore folder which has been dealt with. My system seems to be operating fully again but is there any action I should take about the installer archive?

I'm not sure if this is a correct place to post this, however I need help repairing a corrupted 7z archive. This happened roughly 2 weeks ago: I was adding an mp4 file to a .7z archive. At the end of the adding, creating header, 7-ZIP crashed and my archive became corrupt. I had approx. 5 other mp4 files in that archive. I can't understand how to use the far hex manager, and using other programs like winrar can't repair the file. Winrar in particular tells me since it's not a rar or zip file it can't repair it. Even if I can only get the names of the file within would be sufficient as they were episodes I had Favorited of an incredibly long show, 800 episodes+, so I can re-download them if I knew the episode numbers.

Have a customer that is uploading a .zip file made with WinRAR on a PC

to our FTP Server (Server 2003), when we try to use WinRar to unzip the

file after copying it from the FTP server to a PC we get a Diagnostic

Message: The archive is corrupt.

I've also tried uncompressing the file on the FTP server itself, using

the default windows unzip, it also reports that the file is corrupt.

The customer says that after he uploads it to the FTP server, he can

download it back and then uncompress the file just fine. We are not

experiencing the same problems with anyone elses files.

I double checked the login account permissions, and they are exactly as

they are supposed to be.

Any one have any idea what our customer is doing wrong?

A:Corrupt rar/winrar Archive

Some ideas:
- are you both using the same version?
- will it work if client just compress a simple txt document and upload that one?
- perhaps the rar file is missing a crucial portion and that's why it isn't working for you but works for the client.
- will it work if client compress as zip file and upload that one
- have him uninstall/reinstall WinRAR

I have no idea whether the above are nonsense or valid concerns. I use WinRAR too but not sure.

I run a remote server that plays schedules from a custom application written in MAX-MSP and is managed via Teamviewer.
Recently there have been unexplained crashes of the MAX program associated with logins ( as seen by windows Application and Security logs) of services.exe. Now since both events occur at the same second its hard for me to determine which comes first, the crash or the login, which may well be from the error reporting service WER.
The crashes are in ntdll.dll , the kernel, and I'm not sure how to log more of what exactly happens, in which order.
There are 10 other devices on our local network, KissBoxes (for MIDI and DMX) WiFi AP's (UNIFi) and another server that runs the interactive component of the installation. Also environmental monitors, custom machine controllers using XiLinx FPGA's and so on. The network traffic is not immense, maybe 10-15% of a GB net. We also have a managed switch and two subnets, one private, one public.

With all this happening there is a fair amount of interest from outside the firewalls.
I read about the front door vulnerability in Win7 and ran sfc (CBS and SFC logs attached) - the events to look at are the most recent, 2015-07-30 10:37:25 line 3695 onwards, in the CBS.

Finally, I examined utilman.exe carefully, found it had been altered, found its old copy, backed them both up, deleted the rogue copy (with difficulty) and uploaded a copy from another machine to a backup folder.
Restarted the server. Works OK.
Then as I watched... Read more

My problem in XP SP2 is compressed EXE's. For example Windows Media Player 10...when I try to execute the file I get this-

The installation program appears to be damaged or corrupted Please contact the vendor

IF I right click and choose EXTRACT or use a third party archiver, the files extract fine and install without error.
BUT double clicking or thru scripts no EXE that is an archive works - they all give me the error
All that I've tested used WEXTRACT.EXE which I've replaced with the DLLCACHE copy but its a much newer file than on the XP CD so I cant really say that its good.
Also as far as I can tell this issue occurs whether the installer is the Windows Installer(MSI) or Setup/Update etc

A:Install/cabinet/archive Corrupt Issue

I'd suspect that it was not the copy of WEXTRACT.EXE that's corrupted, but rather one of the associated files that go with it. I'd suggest running SFC.EXE /SCANNOW from the Run dialog ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/43051/how-to-use-sfcexe-to-repair-system-files/ ). If that doesn't fix it, then I'd go with a repair install of XP: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Today, for seemingly no reason that I can think of, some of my programs and games stopped working. It was only a few applications, but they all seemed to be missing info usually found in the registry (serial numbers, etc.). I started by doing a system restore back to yesterday, when everything was working fine, and it seemed to make things worse. Even more programs gave me errors and on top of that, I couldn't access the internet. I undid the restore and everything went back to the way is was originally (before the restore), thankfully.I then went to the Add/Remove Programs tool with the intention to simply re-install the trouble-programs and saw something I've never seen before. About half of the programs in there didn't have information next to them, and when I clicked on one of them it didn't have a Change/Remove button next to it. Even those programs that had some info didn't have any modify or remove buttons. For some of the programs that didn't work, I put in the original disc and ran the setup, giving me the option to Remove or Repair the software. When I chose either one, it began the process of uninstalling, but before it actually did anything I either (1) got an error saying the Windows Installer Service couldn't be accessed or (2) the setup was interrupted. I then tried a freeware program that I've used before (MyUninstaller) and nothing showed up on the installed software list... very odd. I googled the Windows Installer error and fo... Read more

I need expert technical support for repairing, removing, or upgrading a corrupt Windows Installer. I've have read and applied the steps on the Microsoft site here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175

The installer was likely corrupted during my efforts to fight a nasty trojan attack by Virtumonda & zlob.trojan, through which I used Spybot, Live OneCare, Adaware, Hijakthis, and AVG 8 to try to resolve (are the issues truly resolved? - I doubt it).

Now, the only protection on my PC is Spybot which scans clean.
I cannot download Windows updates, the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, Windows Installer distributable 4.? (tried to upgrade the Installer), OneCare safety scanner, or AVG 8. I cannot install anything as the Installer continually gives me the error Access Denied.

To make matters worse, I recently moved and cannot locate my Windows XP disks but have the package and product key. I plan to call the Help Desk this morning to get a replacement disk - to see if I can recovery or reinstall - if that is the answer.

When I try to run the online Live OneCare scanner online (which is the only tool that caught and fixed the Virtumonde trojan, now it detects 3 threats and 1 issue up until about 50% through the scan and then freezes every time. I am fairly certain that I am still infected but need the Installer fixed to download tools to clean my system. It's a long story, but I uninstalled AVG8, OneCare, and Adaware through this whole mess - I had to un... Read more

Hi all,

My problem is what I think maybe a corrupt windows installer and I would like to know who to fix it.

The problem first arouse after I installed internet explorer 8. I thought it was crap so I tried to uninstall it, but it wouldn't, so I did a system restore. All worked fine apart from my laptop was very slow....... (wierd)

Then Windows live mails data base went corrupt. So after days of trying to repair it, I Uninstalled it hoping to reinstall & fix the problem, but it won't install. It downloads, states that it is installed, but whenever I try to open the program a message says windows in configuring the program. then the message disappears.

The same happens with all my Microsoft Programs. Other NONE Microsoft programs install fine.

The problem programs are :-

Windows Live Mail
Microsoft Outlook 2007
Microsoft Word

All show the same message except WLM. "Configuring the program", then "Installing Program" which just keeps restarting.
Thanks, Wizzkid

Hitting serioud problems with my PC
We had found corrupted XML files in Excell under 1 of 2 users. The second users files were initially fine. Follow MS instructions and tried to use the RUN DETECT AND REPAIR from the Excel help menu. Didn't work. Tried from the Add & Reepair programs in Contraol Panel - didn't work -fatal error during installation & now Windows Installer keeps loading but not doing anything. Furthur now 2nd user can't access any MS Office files and Outlook has error that MAPI32.dll is corrupt and to re-install outlook. Throughout all of this the Windows Installer keeps trying with every command entered (including moving around web sites in IE). I'm at a loss. Any assistance is appreciated!

A:Windows Installer and corrupt MAPI32.dll

Backup the second users files to USB HDD, or network share.
First try a System Restore to a time when Office and XML files were working.
If this fails, If you have the Microsoft Office install disc, uninstall Office. Restart the computer. Make sure you can access sites, use commands etc without the Windows Installer starting.
If so, then proceed with an install of Office. The previous users files, Emails etc should still be available, as these do not get deleted when you uninstall Office.

I have a very weird issue.

I had succesfully installed Windows 10 from an ISO, off flash card actually, to my regret.

So it was a clean install. Boots fine, everything works except I have a slow harddrive for some reason, I get stalling harddrive. Frequently and particularly at the start of booting.

I do some stuff to attempt to test another PCI RAID card. My idea is: maybe my harddisk will behave differently if on a different controller.

But of course Windows has a problem with that. It cannot boot, because bootmgr is now corrupt. It cannot find the boot device (2nd partition on the disk).

So I intend to see if "Startup Repair" could fix that and I boot it off of the SD card. While Startup Repair is running, quite quickly the machine suddenly reboots. Never happened before.

I try to boot again but now I get errors. They are differently worded but come down to BOOTMGR trouble.

So I'm thinking, it must have corrupted my harddisk. I rage. Eventually I learn that it even gives that error when no harddisk is present!!!.

So I am getting a BOOTMGR error when I do not even have any harddisks connected. I am just trying to load the installer.

Next I burn an ISO with the same Windows 10 only this time it is just the x64 version, whereas the SD card held both x86 and x64. Luckily enough, it boots.

But I'm a bit foolish and I attempt to run Startup Repair again. This time it finishes but very quickly it tells me it cannot repair my PC. However I cannot continue to th... Read more

Ok, so here's the situation (my computer hardware isn't the issue, so I won't bother with posting my system).

There seems to be an installer or updater on my computer that is either corrupt, or not working with Windows 7. It will pop up in a small window every 4 hours or so (unexpectedly, so that's my guess) and then go away immediately. It does this so quick, the program doesn't even show up in the task bar, or display it's name. I noticed it has a "back" and "next" button, but that's all I can notice before it disappears. It wouldn't annoy me that much, but when I'm in the middle of a game, it will minimize the game when it pops up and goes away. It's gotten to where it's affecting my TF2 gameplay, so I'd like some help with trying to figure out how to determine what process it belongs to. I know it's not anything malicious, just a little glitchy program.

Is there anything I can use to record a list of ran processes over a period of time? (a program that lists all processes ran within the last 4 hours or something) I just need some help.

A:I need to find the name of this installer/updater that seems to be corrupt. How?

Check Event viewer -
START | type eventvwr.msc | "Custom Views" | Admin log

If nothing in Admin log related to the 4-hour app, check Application log under "Windows Logs"

Also check Task Scheduler -
START | type task |select "Task Scheduler"

I am not sure if I am asking this in the correct place - if not perhaps you could advise me which forum to use please.

I was doing a search for a file I had misplaced when a message appeared saying there was an Archive Error (screenshot attached). Could you please tell me what this means and what I have to do - if anything - to fix it.

Kind regards...Margaret

I thought I would give you guys one more try.

What does error in the archive directory mean when you are trying to open a zip file?

A:Error in archive directory

It usually means that the zip file is corrupted, which can happen during a download, or any time the file is transferred.

Does this have anything to do with games? If you tell us exactly what you're trying to open, we may be able to help more.

I have run an AVAST scan which ended abruptly and asked me to reboot. There was a message with "42127 {CAB archive is corrupted}". Since then I cannot access the internet nor any of my programs.

Whenever I boot I get "Desktop is not accessible. Insuficient system resources exist to complete requested service." I get a similar message (insuficient system resources...) whenever I want to start anything with my PC.

I get a message from the task bar "check your computer security, there are multiple security problems with your computer. Click the notification to fix this problem." When I click i get : "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item." !!!

As for the WIFI, "file sharing" is ON, I cannot put it OFF; and "Public folder" is ON, I cannot put it OFF!!!

Once on SAFE mode my device manager shows that only 2 Network Adapters are in working order "Bradcom 440x10/100 integrated controller" and Intel ® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connexion". All the other adapters "6T04" and all the "isatap" cannot start (code 10).

I don't know what virus and/or malware cause(s) this mess but I am getting mad about the whole thing.

Can someone kindly help?

It appears you have set your file associations for .exe to open up with 7zip, you can fix this by going to default programs under the start menu, set your default programs and choose 7zip from the list there, choose defaults for this program, and unselect .exe from the list in there. restart and you should be good.

I've recently backed up all my gd stuff on to dvd's in a winRAR format and done a complete system restore. I'm now at the point of putting the stuff (music, pictures and movies) back onto my harddrive which works fine but when i try to extract them i get this message. I can't see how they could all be damaged as i've got 6 dvd full of stuff and nothing works but they worked fine before the system restore?

I've tried using ARAR to repair but no luck

Any idea's?

A:winRAR error message - This archive is either in unknown format or damaged!

Welcome To TSF.

That message means that the file is damaged or corrupt. From what i have seen there is nothing you can do.

You can use tools to scan for recoverable files before they were in the Winrar folder and try and retrieve them.

Hi. Windows Update has not been working on my Win7 x64 Ultimate PC. I was too busy during the school semester to address the issue, so the issue has been around for a while.

I have cleaned out all the issues in the Action Center.

I used the Update Troubleshooter. It reported "Repair Windows Update components" and "Fixed". But then I ran the troubleshooter again and it gave me the same message.

I ran Update, but it failed again.

I ran "sfc /scannow", it fixed some problems. I re-ran "sfc /scannow" and it found no problems. I ran Update Troubleshooter, again, and it said Windows Update Components were "Fixed", again.

I ran Update, but it failed (again).

I ran a checkdisk (on Windows restart). It found something wrong with "C:\Windows\Installer\890b53b.msp" and said it fixed them.

I ran Update, but it failed. I ran Update Troubleshooter and it fixed Win Update Components, again.

I ran Update one more time, but it failed.

I tried to open C:\Windows\Installer\890b53b.msp and got the warning "This patch package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

I also tried Win Update with AVG (virus scanning software) turned off.

Now what do I do? I cannot do a system restore because I've let this problem linger and the restores only go back to 5/19 (why so few? where are the rest?).

I can't figure out if I can just delete ... Read more

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop. For last few days I have not been able to install windows updates. I get the error with code 80070641.

After wandering through different forums and suggested solutions, I followed this path - control panel > system and maintenance > administrative tools > services > windows installer (double clicked and saw that the start-up type is 'Automatic'). When I clicked on the 'Start the service' button in the left panel here, I got the following message:

Windows could not start the windows installer service on local computer.
Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.

Can anybody help me resolve this problem and bring the Windows Installer back on track?

By the way, later, I did this -

Click Start, Run and type: cmd /k sc qc msiserver
Press ENTER.

Following is the ouyput I received -

Does anyone have any idea of what's going wrong here?

Recently whenever I've used an .exe installer I'll get an error as soon as I click start after choosing the directory, in the picture example I include below, it's of SA-MP, but it happens with any installer I try and use. Installers have worked previously, it's only recently it's stopped working.
The error is;
Error opening files for writing.

What I've tried;
-Full system scan with Comodo AV.
-Revealed hidden files and folders.
-Run the installer in both compatability (Even though it does work on Win7, and as an Administrator).
-Also done the scan on CMD (can't remember exact command).

If you need additional information, don't hesitate to ask.
Brief Info:
OS: Win7 Home Premium 64bit.

A:[ERROR] 'Error opening file for writing' whilst using ANY installer.

Installers are not even accessible to Admins. They are owned by trusted Installer. Have you tried taking ownership? See tutorials here on SF.

Hello!  I haven't used my desktop in forever (about 4yrs) and finally decided to hook it up to my tv.  After a little bit of funds and assistance, I finally got it working.
Anyhoo...at one time I had itunes downloaded.  Now I can't find it in Programs.  I can find a couple of files titled "itunes music" and  "itunes music library" in one of the users on this comp but when trying to open these files I receive these errors:
"itunes music" - "Application has failed to start because it's side by side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log for more detail"
"itunes music library - Opens up in a new window of html log.
I researched and found to uninstall and then reinstall itunes and Quicktime.  I can't find itunes in Programs.  I tried to download itunes and receive this error "Could not access network location %APPDATA%."  I researched this error and found to download update to Windows Vista then download itunes and Quicktime afterwards.  I tried to download and received this error "Installer encountered and error 0x80070424 The specified service does not exist as an installed device."
Can I find these drivers somewhere or what should my next steps be?
fyi-I don't have the cds that came with computer but I might be able to borrow one if needed.
