Microsoft Access 2010 Error

Q: Microsoft Access 2010 Error

I'm trying to plan an event for school and I keep getting this Referential Integrity error message. I am trying to make a One-To-Many Relationship between the Clients Table & Events Table. The error message reads:

"Microsoft Access can't create the relationship & enforce referential integrity. Data in the table 'Events' violates referential integrity rules."

I tried to upload a screen shot but it was too big for the attachment so I can't do that I guess.

Please help me out. Would I need a foreign key for this to work? Just wondering.

Preferred Solution: Microsoft Access 2010 Error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there,

I am working on a database in Access 2010.

I am trying to create a report that appears once a specific combo box is filled out for a particular field in the form I am working in. Basically, when a value is put in the combo box, the combo box will filter the form for all the records that match the criteria in the combo box. The filtered records should then populate into the report that appears.

The reason why I need this report is because I would like to be able to view all the of the particular records and be able to sort for various fields more efficiently.

Can anyone help?
If you can solve this I would really appreciate it!

A:Microsoft Access 2010 - Report Help II

You cannot sort a report once it is presented. You can easily set the report criteria to use the combo box value on the report. Just create a query that runs the way you want it with all of the fields you want to be presented in the report along with the combo box value. Set the combo box filed to be the criteria for this query and then base the report off of this query.

I have a simple document tracking database that I wrote in the late '80's and have migrated up through the newer versions of MS Access. Recently when I am editing a date entry form it will crash while I'm working. The error message is always similar in that only the "Exception Offset" changes. I have never gotten a response in any form MicroSoft regarding the error that one would receive for an error message being forwarded. [See 1st attachment]

Today I got a notification saying that I was not forwarding information to MS - so I did. This time a get a different "Problem Reporting" message. [See 2nd attachment]. I was looking at the temp files it created and decided to "Send information" and clicked the button. Again no response from MS. I went back to the temp files folder and now it was empty! A lot of good they did luckily [maybe] I had the AppCompat.txt open so I was able to save if someone can understand the code.

Perhaps you could try a repair by doing the following:

Click Start, then click Control Panel.
Click Programs and Features.
Click the Office 2010 program that you want to repair, then click Change.
Click Repair, then click Continue. You might need to restart your computer after the repair is complete

A:Microsoft Access 2010 Personalized Letter?

You can do this by having Access drive either Outlook or the system's default email program, but you have to do this with VBA code. If you know how to write VBA I can send you some sample code that works. There is a condition though - if the email requires attachments the code is more complex and must use Outlook. If it is just a simple text-only email then the code can be simpler and can use the system's default email program. In my case I had to accommodate attachments (up to 5 of them!) so I had to do the more complex code for Outlook.

I have been making a database spreadsheet on Microsoft Access I was wondering does anyone know how to make it read only so no one can change the data when reading it.
Also are there any software applications I could get to make the security better?
 thank you

A:How to make Microsoft access 2010 read only?

You can make a file read-only by navigating to it in Windows Explorer, RIGHT clicking on its name then selecting 'Properties' from the pop-up menu. At the bottom of the general tab in properties you will see 'Attributes'. If you then tick the 'Read-only' box you set the file read only. This will only protect the file against accidental changes since it is just as easy to un-set the attribute.
In 2007 and 2010 you can password protect the file against unauthorised readers but it adds no more protection against authorised readers !
There may or may not be any third party applications which will do what you want, it's not an area I know anything about.

I'm running Windows 8.1 via BootCamp on a 13" Retina MacBook Pro. Everything seems to be running great, apart from some images being distorted or out of place, which I'm assuming is just due to the higher resolution.

One of the big annoyances I'm having is with Microsoft Access 2010. The spacing on the Navigation Pane much much larger than it should be, and though it doesn't seem that much, its tripling the time it's taking to do anything productive. I've noticed on some other programs (such as Visio 2010) things like dialog boxes aren't showing all the content (text fields being off the screen with no way of filling them in).

I have tried several different resolutions and changing the scaling, none of which seem to do it any favours.

I've attached an example of the Access problem below.

Now I'm not sure if this is a BootCamp problem or something specific running these applications on Windows 8 but does anyone have any ideas how to fix problems like this?

I use Microsoft Office 2010 and am receiving the error message "There was a problem sending the command to the program" whenever I open a Word document from My Documents. [see screenshot]

This error message does not pop up though if I open the file from within Word.

All documents being tested are .docx file types saved using Word 2010.

After Xing off the message or clicking "OK", Word is fully functional.

I'm at college and the installation disks are back home, so there's no hope for re-installation being my fix anytime soon (unless I go home this weekend).

I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an Alienware M14x.

Okay, let me list out all the problems.

It will not install updates correctly, meaning it will reboot two times before it says, "failure to update, reverting changes" and allow me to log into my computer. Sometimes it will take 15 minutes per "Configuring Windows, please wait" screen.

It is also not allowing me to download Microsoft Office 2010. I keep getting this error code:
Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {A75F2217-AD54-3EA6-AE14-F255F8660531}. HRESULT: 0x8007054F.

And none of the updates are sticking.

Every time I close out of Windows Update after installing a Security update, it says there are updates available, and it's another Security update. wtf? Also, I get the error code "Code BC9, Windows Update encountered an unknown error" when it tries to install Internet Explorer, so that doesn't install either.

I did a diagnostic test, and nothing came up as an actual system error, so it's just all Windows itself.

Here is the HijackThis log.

Edit: I ran a full scan on Microsoft Security Essentials and it found a trojan and two other issues. I promptly removed them. However it still didn't repair my update issues (which might be due to a connectivity problem) or my Microsoft Office 2010 problem.

I have been trying to install Microsoft Office Standard 2010 for two days on my laptop running Windows Vista. Every time I try to install it I get an error message that simply says "Microsoft Office Standard 2010 encountered an error during setup." That's it. No error code, no description of the problem. I have tried many solutions I've found on Google, but nothing works. I have uninstalled my Office 2007, and even taken steps to ensure that it was completely removed. I've also renamed the Microsoft Help folder, and tried some "fix it" programs on Microsoft's web site. I cannot find the right solution anywhere. I know it's not my copy of the installation disk, because I installed it on my Windows XP netbook earlier this week and had no problems (I have multiple licenses). Does anyone have an idea?

Have you used the microsoft office removal tools that Microsoft offers on it's site.
You'll have to google for these because I don't know the exact link.
I ran these because I have rests of other MS Ofice installtaions on my disk, and yes the error codes are just as clear as a foggy day in London.
You could also use a tool like CCleaner to have it chekc the regsitry for invalid items.
Good hunting, it's a nuisance

I have spent at least six hours (probably longer) researching and attempting to install a recently purchased download version of Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus.

I spent a good deal of time uninstalling (completely) a previous, nag-screened unregistered, copy of Office 2010. I used the Microsoft Cleanup Utility. I ran several programs to clean up after all this, including Crap Cleaner.

Each time I go to install Office, I enter the key (#), and get the prompt saying that there is ERROR 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key.

I have done at least a dozen things to resolve this issue, including doing a diagnostic boot, with only essential services and processes running; disabled the firewall and virus protection; read of various other remedies, none of which has worked.

I have gone to regedit several time trying to change permissions of certain registry files. Some seem to change okay. Others will change, then when I click okay, the permissions resort back to what they were prior. Other things, like clicking certain boxes about inheritance, won't stick ticked. I find the whole permissions thing a nightmare.

My head is spinning. Is there a tried-and-true remedy for fixing this issue?

Another question: Does Microsoft provide free installation support for its Office products?

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

See attached image of popup. This error relates to being unable to access a registry key and questions the permissions. There are others with the same issue. Installing in safe mode gave a no can do message.

I have run this code before successfully on my database numerous times and today it decided it didn't want to so it any more and i can't find a solution. It runs the code fine and saves the report as C:\CATTLE_PAYMENT_EMAIL\CATTLE_PAYMENT.PDF absolutely fine.

I have two cascading combo boxes. I set up three tables. The first table is the distributor table that contains the distributor name, address, etc. The second table is a list of services the distributors may provide. The third table is a list of each distributor and the service they provide. (Dist Services).

Each distributor only supplies a limited number of services. So I use cascading combo boxes to limit the services to only what that distributor supplies. In the After Update of the first combo box, I have the following code:

Me.Service_ID.RowSource = "SELECT DISTINCT [Service ID] " & _
"FROM [Dist Services] " & _
"WHERE [Distributor ID] = " & [Forms]![Sale Form]![Sale Coupon Subform].[Form]![Distributor ID] & _
" ORDER BY [Service ID]"

I have tried using the wizard on the ribbon, using the expression builder, and just typing in =Date() into the control box. Any way I try it, I still get an #Name? error when I run the report. I was hired because even though I think of myself as a complete beginner when it comes to Access, apparently, I know more than most Admins about this program. That being said, I am an Administrative Assistant and not a programmer, nor do I have programming experience, so please keep that in mind when you answer this.

I checked in the VB editor under tools - references and it seems this organization is missing the utilities.mda file. I tried a search but it was not found. Could this be a reason for the error? If it is the reason, what would be a work-around?

Can someone help me?
I tried to install Microsoft Access database engine 2010 (file ver. 14.0.6119.5) but I got error message:
"Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly component {9DA4DC8A-9731-3F0E-8BD5-FC17CA6848AD}. HRESUL: 0x80073712"

I tried to install this DB provider on computer with
WIN7 prof. 64-bit (DELL) SP1
MS Office 2013 32-bit.
.NET Framework 4.5.1

I tried to reinstall .NET Framework (I found some procuderes how to solve this kind of errors) but without success, still the same error message.
I have also similar computer with the same configuration (Win7 Professional 64bit + Office 2013 32bit + .Net 4.5.1) and installation succeeded without problems.

Have anyone some idea how to solve this problem? Thanx

I'm working with query that is used to keep track of what items need to be calibrated and when. The fields being used for my particular situation are Last Calibration Date, Calibration Interval, and Calibration Due date. What I want to happen is for the Calibration Due Date field to display the Calibration Interval (in months) added to the Last Calibration Date. Using the DateAdd function, I was able to do that fairly easily. My problem is, there are some entries that do not have a Last Calibration Date entered into their record. For those records, I don't want the "#Error" to show up in the query, I just want it to remain blank. I'm using Access 2010 on Windows XP.

Dobber9 , welcome to the Forum.
You can enclose your current calculation in an IIF() statement, something like
iif(isnull([Last Calibration Date]), "", your calculation goes here)

I have found from several forums and support sites including Microsoft that many users are asking solution for the error generating by MS Access 2010 or 2007 while running their custom made Access 2003 database usually after after upgrade.
The error is showing as "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: The expression you entered has a function name that Microsoft Office Access can't find."

The solution is as below:
This error is causing due to disabled macro setting by default. So you will need to enable the macro as per the following method.
Go to File > Options > Trust Center
Then Click on "Trust Center Settings".
Here click on the Option " Show the Message Bar ... ..."
Re-open the Access File in exclusive mode
Now click on the yellow message bar on to to enable macro..... ..... problem solved.

Welcome to TSG and I appreciate the pro-active post.

A another solution is to learn the Trust Center. In there you can enable all macros.

I have multiple office locations that don't have a network or computer expertise but they do have email. I needed to get them to enter their budget data, export it and then email it to a central office where each department's export to excel will be imported into the master database to be worked with further there. I didn't want the employees to have too many difficult operations so I set up a query to combine all their tables into one query and then one button click exports it to an email to a guy at the central office. The problem is that once he gets these emails in, I want him to be able to append each of their spreadsheet data back onto the three tables that they were originally on. He will have to do this for each department that sends him info. The problem is the append query only works for the first table. I have set him up with imports into an IMPORT DATA table. Once there, the append queries are to query out just the data to append to the PROJECT table, then another append query is to get the data for the COST table and the third is for the FUNDING table.

Only the Project table which is the lead table in all the relationships will run this append query. The other two keep losing the data in the query. Everytime I reopen the query I see that the fields I had put on them are gone and the query is blank again. I am getting this message "Reserved error(-3087); there is no message for this error".

Can you point me in the right direction?

I have a command button on an access 2010 switchboard in a program I made that is supposed to launch an excel program I made. Most everything was created in Access 2002 and excel 2002 though some features were added in Office 2010. This command button and others which launch other reports and forms in access all were working well. I use all of this in compatibility mode.

Now I have updated to a new computer with Windows 7. Everything else seems fine. However, the command button to launch the excel program gives me a message: "There was an error executing the command." It opens the program anyway though keeping the access switchboard and the error message in the foreground.

Additionally, and this may be unrelated, if I close the excel program and then attempt to reopen it with the command button, I get the same error message but excel does not open at all. If I close down everything and open the access program again it is the same cycle.

Sorry, this might be resolved in the archives somewhere but the problem is so uncharacteristic I'm just going to post it.

I'm doing some data validation on a pair of combo boxes that can't have identical values. The code is really simple:
Private Sub cboFirstField_Change()
On Error GoTo ErrorHandler

If Fields_Match() Then
[B]Me!cboFirstField.Undo[/B] [COLOR="SeaGreen"]' <-- This is the line that breaks[/COLOR]
End If

Exit Sub

MsgBox "Script execution error in cboFirstField_Change" & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & _
Err.Number & ": " & Err.Description, _
vbCritical + vbOKOnly, _
Resume ExitHandler
End Sub
I put the same routine under the Change event for both combo boxes. Every time I test it on either field, I get a 438 ("Object doesn't support this property or method") on execution of the Undo statement.

Per the Access 2010 reference, ComboBox objects support an Undo method, and the relevant statement in my code is identical to the example provided.

So, I guess I'm really confused? Does anyone see a glaring issue with my code?

I have an Access 2000 database that I'm having some problems with. First, it's using replication, and I need to get away from that. So I'm creating a new database and bringing all the existing objects into it. The new database is in Access 2002-2003 format (according to Access) at this point, but I am working on it in Access 2010 (every copy we had of Access 2003 running older machines was destroyed in Tropical Storm Irene). I note at this point that I didn't write this code or create this database. It was built a long time ago by one employee who retired and doesn't remember much about the database, and another who retired and had added on it I can't even get to answer my emails right now. This database was originally written in Access '97, then converted to an Access 2000 database and it hasn't been touched with conversions since then. So, to the actual problem:

When I try to open up the first, most important form in the database, I get this error:
Compile Error: User-defined type not defined.

And it's highlighting a line of code that reads:
Dim Cmd As ADODB.Command

I tried doing some searching for this error and added a reference to ActiveX Data Objects 6.0 library based on some of what I read. That didn't help. I'm not entirely sure what this sub is trying to accomplish, and so it's hard for me to figure out if these ADODB commands even make any sense to be doing when everything is self-contained (this databas...
