I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just installed MS Outlook 2002 that came with my t-mobile MDA pocketpc/smartphone w/ windows mobile 5.0, and when I click the calendar shortcut, I get "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location." When I click the contacts shortcut, I get the calendar. The tasks shortcut gives me notes. Notes shortcut gives me journal. Both Outlook Today and Deleted Items gives me Outlook Today.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've updated through windows, microsoft, and office updates. I'm running win xp pro w/ sp2 and office xp.

When I right click the calendar shortcut, I get: "! unable to display folder properties. the folder may have been deleted or the server where the folder is stored may be unavailable. can't display folder properties."

When I go to what I think is the the directory of these folders, I don't see any of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Currently we are using net folder to share contacts and appointments in Outlook 98 & 2000. We decided to try Office XP and can not figure out how to get our shared folders to work. Anybody got any ideas?

Net Folders is just one of the many features removed for Outlook 2002. I ran across this earlier trying to figure out how to get Microsoft Mail working (which was also removed although there's a work around - not sure if there is one for Net Folders):

You can click file import and locate the saved pst and wab files. Just read throught the steps and the lists.

Or you can navigate to \Documents and Settings\whatever userid you are using\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook....this is where OL stores your pst files.

I'm missing several folders in Outlook! It began when I received an error message while attempting to open a folder in outlook. The error message suggested running a detect and fix program, which I did. Once that was done I opened Outlook to find that all the email accounts and the folders were all missing! I've since searched and located .pst outlook folders but can't open them. The drop down for browsing programs doesn't even list Outlook! I hope I'm not screwed and that someone can help me out...PLEASE!

I did recreate the accounts but that did'nt bring back the folders.

Hi All... I'm a newbie here, NICE TO MEET YOU!

This is gonna be wordy ... thanks for your patience and for any help you can provide.

I have several profiles in my Microsoft Outlook 2002. One is set up for me and the other for my boss; My boss has two different email accounts in his profile... one is a hotmail account (HTTP) and the other is a POP3 account hosted by our ISP.

I go through his incoming email daily and 'forward' to him only emails I think he needs to see (which he reads from his laptop); I also delete spam and leave safe but non-important messages in the inbox by 'marking as read'.

Last Friday, my boss mentioned that he hadn't received any forwarded emails for a few days. When I went in to look, I discovered that there were 76 unsent messages sitting in an outbox (not the outbox immediately below his inbox*). I tried to open each and re-forward them, but it didn't work. I got no send/receive error; it appeared to process the send and receive, but the message didn't leave the outbox.

*While I was trying to figure out what was wrong, I noted that there are more 'outboxes' than we have email accounts... in fact, there appear to be 2 extra sets of all the folders.

I think the problem may be that there unnecessary multiple Outlook data files associated with his mail accounts, (I can identify them by clicking on the properties for each one) but don't know which to keep and which to delete. I'd appre... Read more

A:Outlook 2002 - Multiple folders - need help with various 'issues'

Hi there. It all sounds messy. Sometimes with multiply profiles and email accounts Outlook will try and send the forwarded messages via the same account that received it. I've had a similar problem with two email accounts in Outlook but each through a different ISP. They wouldn't forward a message received on one ISP account back through that account to the other ISP account.
When you click forward see if an accounts icon shows up beside the send icon. If so try clicking the drop down arrow beside it and sending the message through one of the other accounts.
As for all the double up folders it sounds as though someone has accidentally copied all the folders in the Personal folders list. If this is the case, then keep an eye on them, and if they are not used you should be safe to delete them.
You could also make a new folder called "Double Ups", and move them in to there. If everything works fine for a couple of weeks I would say it is probably a safe bet that you can then delete this folder. Then leave it in the Recycle bin for another couple of weeks if you want to be extra safe
Hope this helps.

For some reason, when I went to load by pst files, it put the personal folders at the top and the "outlook today" at the bottom in my folder list. Now to read mail in my inbox I have to scroll all the way down the page because of the many personal folders I have. I have checked everywhere on Microsoft and there's seems to be no solution to rearrange the folders even though it seems like it should be something simple (I know, too much to ask). I've an IBM desktop Intellistation and ThinkPad both using XP Pro. I've installed Outlook 2002 on both machines.

I can synchronize all my data files between the two machines fine. Would like to synchronize my email too, so both machines are up to date, no matter which one I downloaded messsages onto and replied from.

I've found programs called pstsync version 1.6.22 and synchpst version 1.4.7 which both claim they can do this, but read very bad reviews on synchpst.

Can anyone tell me which if any program will do this job well?

I'm in LA, and could find noone to guide me how to use Lotus Notes/Domino which "replicates" these Folders (an IBM service company said they'd charge $7,000just to come take a look!) I've used Lotus Smartsuite happily for years, including Lotus Organizer, but if there's no consumer-friendly Lotus Domino/Notes, then guess Outlook synchronizer is what I need.

Any help would be great. Been disabled a long time, and it would be fantastic to be able to safely go places with my laptop, do emails, then come back to home base and synchronize my email folders on my desktop.

Sorry if this message too long; first time I've used this site.

Just recently we had a lightening storm in our area - my internet cable, tv and telephone were all affected so I am wondering if my problem is related.
I did have a surge protector and other than the following problem and the fact that my printed doesn't;t work now - I think my computer is working Ok.

Problem - when I forward an email to another person from any folder in my Inbox it copies itself and puts it back into the same folder and it doesn't send it to the intended recipient. I have tested and if I forward from the Deleted Folder and from the Inbox ( prior to an email being put into one of the folders) everything works fine.

I am not sure if somehow a feature got switched on my during the storm (my monitor was not plugged into a surge protector and there are a couple of faded colours at the top of the screen).

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Every now and again I load Outlook and another set of Personal folders has been added under my current set. They completely duplicate the folders and messages already in my Personal Folders. I now have five sets of these - each a snap shot of my folders when it was created. I wish to delete them and, of course, I can delete those which duplicate the folders I created - but they contain Intray, Deleted Items etc. etc. which Outlook will not allow me to delete. How do I get rid of them and how do I stop Outlook creating new sets in the future?

My second problem with Outlook 2002 is that I wish to create weekly back ups and have always done so by exporting to a pst file. After many years of doing this I am now getting the message: 'The operation failed. An object could not be found.' So, I am unable to over-write the previous file and have to create a file with a new name. This is OK except that I now have a very large number of pst files which I cannot delete - and it appears that Outlook is constantly adding data to them. Indeed, it seems that this is happening even on days when I have not exported, because the dates of the files are those of the latest day I have accessed my computer.

Can anyone help? Many thanks

I've got my PST located on my external HDD. Imoved the location a while ago and I must have still been on OfficeXP 2002. All my machines are Office 2003 Pro and was wondering if it would benefit me to change the file folders to the new Outlook File Folders format.

Secondly, I've been trying to read up on converting possibilities. Would I just create a new PST (I guess in the same folder on my External HDD) and then move all my folders (Contacts/Inbox...) to the new Personal Folder in the list, then delete the old PST file.

I've read a lot about creating Profiles on the machine via Control Panel--> Mail. If I do that on each of my machines, would that cause any glitches (some error message that a folder is missing or something) whenever I plug in my external HDD and use outlook because the profiles may be slightly different for whatever reason on each machine. Right now, my Outlook runs really smooth in terms of email, contacts and calender.

The only bump I keep getting is if I am writing an email and I click the 'To' button to show my address list, I get a message that the list is missing. It must be trying to look for the contacts folder on another machine's setting, but in reality it should be looking at the same Contact List from the PST file on my External HDD.

A:Problem in Adding additional personal folders (pst) in Outlook 2002

Can you post a screen shot of the window. I am not exactly sure what you are talking about.

Outlook will only have one pst file per profile. When adding fields to that profile you should be able to open Outlook, click on the Inbox or what is showing and then click on File, Folder, New and then click on the heading you want it to appear under.

IT should create it. But for some reason I am getting the feeling this is not exactly what you want so if you can show the window maybe it will help me understand.

I recently upgraded from Windows 98 SE to XP Home. When I did, I opted to use Outlook 2002 rather than Outlook Express which I had used with '98. Two things happened from which I don't seem to be able to recover.

First - I lost all the messages from Outlook Express. I wish I had them back, but I can live without them - so far.

Second - I have somehow acquired a duplicate "Personal Folders" list. I have two "Outlook Today" - [Personal Folders] listed in my folders list. Everything in the first one is duplicated in the second. When I download messages, they appear in both "Inbox" folders. When I add a folder to the first, it appears in the second and visa-versa. If I delete a message in any of the sub-folders. it disappears from the other "mirror" sub-folder.

So far, I have been unable locate an actual duplicate file anywhere. It's almost like Outlook is reading the same file twice and displaying it's contents in two identical folders. Although it doesn't seem to hurt anything, I'd like to get rid of the duplicate displayed folder.

I'm a rookie on this stuff, so any help would be appreciated.

A:Outlook 2002 Duplicate "Personal Folders"

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools-Folder options.
Hit the View tab.
Make sure you ARE viewing hidden files/folders.
Make sure you can SEE file extensions for known file types.

Do a search for *.pst files.

You probably have two in the same location somehow.
Just move one of them someplace else.

You can't do it when Outlook is open. Only when it's closed.

You can also try running Detect and Repair from the help menu.

Am running Win XP Pro along with Office XP SP2. Just went to the Office XP update site and installed the Excel and Word 2002 Update Oct.16 2002, and the Outlook 2002 Update Jan 22 2002.

Word and Excel still work fine, but Outlook will only start in safe mode, hanging at the splash screen if started normally. I tried the trick of renaming the *.dat files noted in some of the bulletin boards, but tis did not help.

I then un-installed Office XP and reinstalled it to SP2 level without the three patches noted above. Outlook still refuses to start normally.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a "patch to patch the patch" for this problem, but can't seem to find the article again. Have also unsuccessfully searched the web and am now truly stuck!

Since Office seems to have reinstalled itself with all it's old defaults, I assume that the un-install programme does not remove registry entries? Any idea if there is a manual un-install instruction set anywhere - I can't find it at Microsoft.....!

Hello all,
This is the second computer I have experienced this issue on... I am not sure what setting I may have unknowinlgy enabled to create this fiasco.. hopefully you all have an opinion.

All of the sudden, my backspace key will not delete text that I have highlighted in Word 2002. My delete key will, but my backspace key won't.... this is a pain in the rear since it takes a lot more effort to use to use the delete key than the backspace key, and using backspace has been ingrained in me since childhood.

I did not change any settings or turn on any features (unless it was unknowingly)... I was not messing with options or settings recently at all, as well. I am completely stumped as to how this happens... as mentioned before, it is the second computer to do this to me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I recently re-installed my entire computer, incl. MS Office 2002.
When restoring the .pst files, something went wrong. Maybe I needed to re-install more than just .pst files, maybe it screwed up because I renamed the back-up files?

Either way, the problem is that the Contact folder is not displayed in the Outlook Address Book, and I cannot manage to make it so.
I tried the following:
- Right-clicking the Contacts folder, Properties, Outlook Address Book tab. The checkbox "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" is greyed out, so I cannot check it.
- Tools, E-mail accounts, View or change existing directories or address books. Outlook Address Book - MAPI is listed (as only one). When pressing Change..., I get an error message: "This E-mail account cannot be configured. Please run Outlook and choose this profile before attempting to make changes to it." There is only one profile (I had 2 before re-installation, but no longer needed the second).
If I try to Add... an Additional Outlook Address Book, or a Personal Address Book, I get the error message "The account you have added is not fully configured. It might not work properly until re-configured correctly."

Nice, but how to re-configure it correctly??? I prefer not having to re-install the program...

I tried to Remove the listed Outlook Address Book, but then could still not Add... one (same error message), so the originally listed one re-appeared.

What can I do?

I'm trying to read the e-mails from my old Windows 98 computer on my current Windows XP computer but I haven't been able to figure out how to successfully do this. The e-mail client on the Windows 98 machine was Outlook Express 6 and the one on my current XP computer is Outlook 2002.

I followed the instructions listed on the Microsoft support site (Article ID: 270670) for backing up the data from Outlook Express which left me with a folder of .dbx files (Inbox.dbx, Drafts.dbx etc) which I then burned onto a CD and transferred over to my XP computer. My problem is that now that I've done that I'm not sure how to get Outlook 2002 to import that folder of .dbx files or recognize it. I googled it but didn't find any helpful results other than links to expensive conversion programs. So could anyone here offer any help on the matter? Thanks in advance.

A:How do I import messages from Outlook Express 6 into Outlook 2002?

However, when I tried this it only exported the messages in my "Sent" folder and none of the messages in any of the other folders, including Inbox.dbx which is about 500MB in size so I know the messages are in there. Then you point it at a copy of the PST from your old 2002 version of Outlook, copy it over on a CD or DVD or via a network if connected (it will be a large file usually).

You can tell it to not create duplicates etc as you want.

I have set the options so that the Outlook Today page is supposed to begin when Outlook 2002 is started. Instead it always opens in the inbox.

I have a one-page document with a footer. Word has added a second blank page with a footer that I cannot get rid of.

I followed the advice on MS Office help page: open the document, click view, click normal layout, click paragraph icon, delete last paragraph icon. But, when I do this, nothing happens. The last paragraph icon will not delete.

Does anyone know a simple way to delete the blank page? I tried removing the footer from the blank page, but that also removed the footer from the first page.

A:Solved: Delete blank page at end of document in Word 2002

Hi loverboy (I've always wanted to say that ),
Could be a couple of different things. First, try clicking the paragraph icon and using backspace instead of delete.

Is the content on the first page really close to the end of the page? If so, try changing the top and bottom margins (File/Page Setup). Make them both 0.2 or something like that. Did that fix the problem? If so, change them to something more reasonable (like maybe 0.75).

You can also highlight the paragraph character and change the font on just that character to 2pt. That will likely make it small enough to fit with the first page.

If none of those options work, you could have a page or section break that you're not aware of. Go to Tools/Options and on the View tab under Formatting Marks, check All. When you go back to your document, if you see a dotted line that says "break", highlight it and delete it.

Let us know if any of that helps.

I'm having a problem switching from Outlook Express version 6.00.2900.2180 to Outlook 2002. I have installed Outlook 2002 but when I try to open it I get the following error message:

"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook Express 4.01 or greater. You can install Outlook Express by running IE5Setup.exe from the IE5 folder located on your CD or through the Windows Update website."

I have tried doing this but when I try it I get an error message telling me that my computer already has a more recent version so the download is not possible. I am using Windows XP and I have the most recent windows updates.

Can anyone please help with this problem?

My original problem with Outlook 2002 doesn't seem to be going away so I think I will just install Outlook 2003. Is there a way to transfer all of the emails, contacts and calendar items from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003 on the same machine? Thanx

A:Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003

I do not have an answer to your question, just wondering if Outlook 2003 is the lastest version of that. Seems old to be the latest version, but since I have never used it, I really do not know.

If it is not, you might want to consider going to the most recent version instead.
