I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update. But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7023", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6954" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).Is this an update or what? What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)?  Thanks. (confused now) @@

Hi @iiiiirahuliii,  Welcome to the HP Forums! It is a terrific place to find answers and suggestions! For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More  I grasp you are having an issue with the installation of the Dolby home theater V4.  You were able to uninstall the old driver but not install the updated driver. As Dolby does not have drivers, I am assuming you are trying to update a driver from the HP website. Dolby Home Theater v4  Here is a link to the software and driver page for your notebook.   HP 15-d103tx Notebook PC Software and Drivers You can use the Check Now option to have it auto detect any applicable software and drivers for your system. Please verify that you have the Cyberlink PowerDVD and Power Media Player Software installed. I did note that you got the message you need to install PCEE first but the installation fails. Here is a link from the WindowsSevenForum that may help.  "PCEE needs to be installed" when trying to enable Dolby Home Theater.  If that does not work I would try a HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8) When I checked the specifications for your notebook I noticed that it came with Free Dos. HP 15-d103tx Notebook PC - Product Specifications Have you done all your Windows updates? If none of the above has helped, I suggest... On the other hand, when the Audio Director is set to Multi-Stream in SmartAudio, and Dolby is turned on, the improved sound quality can be observed only when using headphones/earphones and the equalizer moves, too, but the response without headphones/earphones is unchanged. Thank You

Just upgraded to Windows 10 on my Ideapad N585. On startup get a message Dolby audio driver didn't load. I seem to remember this issue upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1, but don't remember the fix. Do we have to wait for an updated driver? I have sound, but not sure what driver it's using. (haven't even found drivers yet) Another issue I discovered is that I couldn't turn off the touch pad using Fn+F6. The Elan driver settings do have a box to disable the touch pad when using an external pointing device, though, so that's not a major issue.

I updated to 8.1 because supposedly, it was to offer features similar to win 7. Instead, it's even worse than win 8. A:help! Dolby Audio Driver not working after 8.1 update

I would try installing it in a compatibility mode and see if that helps.

Hi guys, I'm having an (what appears to be quite a common) issue with my sound since installing to Windows 8.1

I have an Acer Aspire V3-571G laptop, and was recently asked to upgrade to Windows 8.1.

Once I did that, a pop-up has come up saying:
---------------------------------------------------------
Dolby Home Theater
Unable to start the Dolby audio driver. Please restart the computer or
reinstall the driver if the problem persists.
---------------------------------------------------------

The audio for all my media players now refuse to work, while, say, Youtube appears to work fine.

I've seen a few proposed solutions for this issue (including deleting, uninstalling and reinstalling of certain things), but most appear to be 'Lenovo' laptops. So basically I have a fear of deleting something wrong or doing some irreversible damage to my sound, since it may not be specific to my Acer Aspire.

If anyone could give me a hand with how to solve this, that would be VERY much appreciated, as I am clearly not very tech savvy.

Thanks guys and girls!

The current driver version is 7.6.4.9 but the software application expects version 7.3.2.2. It asks me to install a valid driver and software application combination. So far as I am aware I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Lenovo. Help

Hi iyyappan_3,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
First make sure that the Audio driver and the dolby will be in sync.
Open Device Manager
Uninstall the Audio Device Under Sound and gaming controllers / Make sure to place a check in the Delete driver software prompt.

Now make sure you don't have any dolby components
Proceed to Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall a Program
                     Uninstall all Dolby Related programs
                             Restart if Prompted
Now install this software driver

 https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/audio142w81.exe
When you install this software it will show you a directory path whre it will extract, Make sure to Remember the path

This next xtep is important

Open the directory path where the Audio driver installer extracted the Audio driver.

Check all the folders inside it and find the Dolby Installers, Install the Dolby either Advanced audio or Digital plus.

ANd you should now get your dolby back

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Hi fellow lenovo users,I started this thread because I have failed to reach a solution using the instructions from other threads and support pages about missing or not functional dolby app after windows update. I tried to find a specific thread for the Ideapad 320s about this problem but have't found one yet hence the creation of this thread. So, recently my laptop has just had a windows update, after the update lenovo vantage was added to my app list but I couldn't open the dolby setting and only being greeted by a "...missing component, reinstall software" prompt. I've downloaded the specific driver for my product on lenovo's web and have tried to uninstall conexant driver on my device manager AND ALSO DELETED the leftovers dolby files. Continuing, I installed the driver using the installer I got from lenovo's web. The installer does run and restores the conexant audio driver but the dolby app doesn't get installed. I checked the source folder to find that the installer did extract dolby config as I found several ".cab" files labeled DolbyAPI, DolbyGUI, etc. But I can't seem to find any installer program accompanying it. Am I missing something or is there any solutions present? If so do please point it out as I am really just wandering in the dark Cheers
