I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Suddenly email I send to Hotmail or MSN mail is getting bounced back. It does not matter if the message is a new one or reply.

It happens whether or not I send it from my desktop or ipad. However, if I send the email from work on my work desktop or my ipad on the work network, it goes through.
Here is the text from one of the bounces:

I use a MacBook, iPad and iPhone, and have an AOL email address. Suddenly, emails from friends who have hotmail email addresses are bouncing back. I have talked to AOL, Apple, and my internet provider (AT and T) who all say the problem is with Hotmail. When I try to reach tech support, I get the runaround from people in India who want to charge me $50 to unblock hotmail addresses. I am beyond frustrated. Can anyone help? Thanks!

A:E Mail Sending Copys Back

If you have carefully checked all the options in OE, then it may be caused by a setting in your E-mail provider. Are you getting an exact copy of every E-mail or a read receipt?

Hi... I'm in help desk in my company. We're having an issue with emails sent to Hotmail, they're being rejected. Microsoft answered, via website:

"Welcome to Microsoft Community. We understand how important for you to be able to send an email to Microsoft accounts from your domain account.

You need to get in touch with the Microsoft Sender Support Team. They have to fill out the e-form that can be found on the following link to solve your issue with the error code 550 SC-002 where your emails sent from your domain to Microsoft Account rejected for policy reasons.

If you are the 3rd party Domain Administrator:

Please review our policies and guidelines at http://postmaster.live.com.
If you are in compliance, submit a support request to our Email and Delivery Filtering Services team by clicking on the link to the e-form under the troubleshooting section in the postmaster site mentioned above.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Thank you. "

... but the problem is that mails sent to Gmail are being rejected too... So I suppose that our servers are being considered as spammers, for the time being, for some reason. Is there a workaround to this without having to contact either Hotmail or Gmail? That's dealing with obnoxious bureaucrats... if you ever can get a hold of them...

I have several email accounts linked to my outlook and live accounts but all messages I tried to send from any of these recently are being bounced back with the following return message and no explanation -

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

When I send an AOL email from my AOL browser it works fine but when I use another browser via Outlook it bounces back.

Hi!,

This is a new one for me.

I NOTICED I WAS NOT RECEIVING BOUNCED BACK, "MESSAGE DELIVERY FAILURE" OR SIMILAR INCORRECT OUTBOUND E-MAIL MESSAGES COMING BACK THAT I ADDRESSED INCORRECTLY.

Comcast 6 Mps is my ISP.
Windows XP Professional
Outlook 2003.
Only recent new software within last month when this started happening is IE v.7.beta 2.
I FIRST NOTICED THIS WITH SOME PERSONAL E-MAIL DISTRIBUTION LISTS IN WHICH I HAD NOT CLEANED OUT A COUPLE "BAD" E-MAIL ADDRESSES THAT CONTINUALLY CAME BACK AS UNDELIVERABLE. THEN, MORE RECENTLY, I FURTHER CONFIRMED THIS WHEN I NOTICED THAT INCORRECTLY ADDRESSED E-MAILS FOR MY BUSINESS E-MAIL ADDRESS (A POP3 THAT I USE WHEN I WORK OUT OF HOME SOMETIMES) WERE NOT COMING BACK AFTER I REALIZED I INCORRECTLY ADDRESSED AN OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESS.

THEN, FINALLY, I TESTED VARIOUS INCORRECT OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESSES TODAY FOR BOTH MY PERSONAL AND BUSINESS E-MAIL ADDRESSES AND NONE OF THE DELIBERATELY, INCORRECTLY ADDRESSED OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESSES WERE BOUNCING BACK TO ME. [ I ALSO HAD AN ASSOCIATE IN ANOTHER STATE, NON-COMCAST USER SEND OUT SOME OF THE INCORRECT OUBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESSES AND HE DID GET THEM BOUNCED BACK TO HIM] THE LATEST INCORRECT OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESS I TESTED FOR BOTH MY PERSONAL '[email protected]' AND BUSINESS OF '[email protected]' IS '[email protected]'

I'm lost on this one and Comcast is, well, Comcast.

Help!

Thanks.

JHH

I've been trying to find a solution to the problem and it led me here. However my problem isn't the same as the firefox 'bouncing' problem already mentioned in this forum.

Example:
When viewing hotmail I can visit my inbox but when i try to view any messages I get a very brief glimpse of the message before it bounces me back to the inbox.
With other sites it often just refreshes the page if i click on any avenues within the site.

I tried deleting cookies via the toolbar cos that sorts out some problems.

I only got to this forum through explorer (yuk).

I apologise if this is a question that has already been answered but my problem isn't very easily searchable through keywords.

A:Firefox keeps bouncing back to a previous page.

...also revisiting a tab in firefox causes that page to refresh. Not really a problem but displaying all the symptomes will help in diagnosing the problem.

I also tried re-installing firefox. That didn't work.

Please, any thoughts on this, it's driving me up the wall.

Hey everyone, I have been trying to play a few games on my laptop recently, and I've noticed the oddest thing. Take Dungeon Siege 2 for example; I start the game up, graphics are set to high, and the game runs smooth as butter. About 5 minutes go by and then I hit a massive lag spike, my frame-rate drops from 40 to 10. This lasts for about another 5minutes then... its back to being smooth again? It will keep doing this switch back and forth constantly. The game only uses about 400mb of ram, and even when its being laggy, lowering the graphics to bare-bones doesn't make the slightest difference.

I tried setting the core affinity to 1, 2 or both, that doesn't seem to make anything better. I tried raising the app priority, but vista keeps reseting it i think. And oddly, by minimizing the game and waiting about 30seconds, the game will go back to being smooth again.
What is going on??

Specs:
Vista Home Premium
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
2046MB RAM

Hello, everyone, and thank you for any assistance you can provide with this issue. I searched for an answer using Google and the TG search function, but the issue is inherently difficult to search for, as it brings up a lot of off-topic results. If this has been asked and answered, a link to the answer would be appreciated, thanks again.

When working on my computer, I practice a sort of extreme mult-tasking - that is, I usually have numerous Office & PDF programs open and more specifically 3-4 IE browser windows at any given time.

I frequently click to a new page, or action, on one page, then switch back to Word, or to another window in the meantime while that page downloads, even if this only takes a second or two - that's a couple of seconds I could be doing something else.

IE does not seem to cooperate in this regard, however, in that I will often find myself unwillingly dragged back to a browser window, when the page has finished downloading, when there is activity there, PW request, etc. Is there any way to prevent IE from switching windows on me against my will, so that I will only be on the browser window I choose and never be dragged back to an old window, regardless of what is going on there?

I am using IE7; however, the same thing happened with my earlier IE6.

I have cable Internet, but I am also using a old and slow computer - will an upgrade solve this?

If so, given my penchant for mult-tasking, is a dual core processor the way to go?

A:Internet Exlorer windows bouncing back and forth

Welcome, LAEsquire.

I think the word you're looking for is "focus." You click on a certain window to get the focus there. Then some other application or window wants your input or wants you to see a message and it grabs the focus (and you find yourself typing into thin air!).

I know of no way to change this operation. Maybe there is a registry tweak.

Since this is a general Windows feature I suggest that you click on the red triangle and ask a moderator to move this thread to the Windows XP forum, where you are more likely to find an expert who knows about this.

This morning emails I am sending to hotmail accounts I use every day are being bounced back with the message :"550 SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems." There is nothing different from usual about the eemails I am sending. What is going on please?

A:Windows Live Hotmail suddenly bouncing back emails

Hi Aroominyork, it is possible the mail server you use for sending mail has been added to a black list which is now causing you issues.

You need to find the IP of your SMTP server (which you can find probably in the returned emails), if not then copy and paste the contents of one of the returned emails here and we should be able to find it.

When you have the IP, try typing it in here and see what results you get.

I am actually traveling abroad and have a problem to send mails through one of my accounts via the iSP of my location.
I'll try to resume the facts:
I use 2 mail accounts from different ISP
At this locations I am on an internet connection by cable.
I do receive mail correctly on both accounts
I could not send mail by either accounts.
Changed smtp port from my default 25 to 587: Result 1 account now sends ok, but
Still no send on 2nd account.
Account DETAILS:
Domain located on DNS ns209xxx.ovh.net sdns2.ovs.net
Send method: Normal smpt with open password.
Error response at sending= first long "connecting"...... then time-out, both with ports 25 and 587
Rest of configuration not changed as is works always when at home.
While trying, I have:
Disabled firewall on Local cable modemrouter.
Disabled my pc AV and FW (Eset Smart Sec 5.2)

Btw: Ping to the mailserver is 100% ok

I am really troubled because i cannot see where the solution could be?
My mail configuration is ok, because it always works at home.
If changing the port from 25 to 587, works for 1 mail account, the local conection should be ok.
Why shouldn't the port 587 work for my OVH domain mail account, as it does on the other one(NWsolutions domain)?

Please, could someone help! I need to answer mails through that account that's not working. Answering those mails through the other mail account is no option for me.
Thanks!!

Hi Robser

Have you temporary changed the outgoing server to the service of the location where you are, when I visit my friend I take my notebook with me and change (The out going server only) from my provider to theirs which is bigpond, so change it so mail.bigpond.com otherwise it won’t send but i get internet, are you still getting internet?

See if that helps, ask at where you are who the provider is.

This is not really a problem, but I'd like to understand what's going on.

When I am traveling (at the moment several hundred miles from home) I can access my normal e-mail account and can read new mail just fine. But I am not able to send mail. I get an error message that tells me that the server reportes that authentication failed, as if it didn't get the correct password. My e-mail account is thru my ISP, which is Time Warner Cable, which I normally access using Thunderbird.

If I want to send mail, I have to log into Time Warner's Web Mail (ie. using Firefox), which requires the same credentials as my normal account. Sort of a pain, but I can live with it.

But, why can't I just use the Thunderbird as when I'm out of my home area?

I have an XP Professional system. I'm using Outlook Express. Sending and receiving e-mail is generally no problem but when I gather a number of photos from the internet and compile them into a new message, I instantly lose most of the pictures when hitting send. The typical little box with an X in the middle replaces my pix and an Outlook Express notice appears on the screen advising me that one or more of the pictures in the message could not be found. In saying I try to send a number of photos, I mean in the neighborhood of 15 to 20 at once. I obtain the pictures by e-mailing them randomly to my inbox and when I choose to compile them into a new message, I copy and paste each. Can I assume this method has nothing to do with the problem but more likely too much of a load for the system? Would it have anything to do with my security set-up? Thanks for any help anyone can give. Jack B.

A:Solved: Losing pictures when sending e-mail

Try this method:

Embed an image in Outlook Express

First:
Click Tools => Options => Send tab => HTML Settings button
Make sure the 'Send pictures with messages' box is checked.
OK twice to exit.

Next:
Open a New Message
Click Format => Rich Text (HTML)
Click Format => Background => Picture
Click the Browse button and navigate to the image file you want to embed.
You probably don't want to choose something too big as the size of the finished e-mail may be too large. If you want to check the size of the file, right-click on it and click Properties. You can also click the Folder View button at the top and switch to Thumbnails. When you have the file you want, click the Open button.
Click the OK button. The selected image should show in the message.

Outlook Express supports these image types:
.bmp; .jpg; .gif; .wmf; .xbm; .art

To remove the image, again click Format => Background => Picture. This time blank out anything in the File box. OK to exit.

I have had windows mail set up since October and it has worked fine. THree days ago it pops up and wants me to enter my user name and password. I do this and it does not matter. I thought I could delete my account and recreate it, which did not work. I have called my ISP 4 times and the first person had me change it to something that was a lot different from what it was before. This account is for my work mail and i have the incoming server and outgoing server set to different things as I did before. I can send mail now but I cannot recieve it. When I try to check it the user name and password box pops up. I wrote everything down from the way it was before I deleted it and when I enter that information it still does not work.

The problem is I recently installed Dreamweaver MX and several other programs and when I went to use Outlook Express I get this error when sending mail :

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Form posted from Microsoft Internet Explorer.', Account: 'pop.freeserve.com', Server: 'smtp.freeserve.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 rejected: cannot route to sender <my email etc.co.uk>', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC69

I can still use Hotmail and I've checked all the mail settings within my Outlook account and with my ISP, no problem there. Even doing a sytem restore to when it was working doesnt help.
I can also post to newsgroups via Outlook Express too.

Using XP Pro

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated

So I've been changing my e-mail/username with my service provider lately and I always make sure to change the properties of my Windows Mail account along with it. My most recent switch-up was for the reason being that a certain stupid spam/fraudulent website by the name of "namesdatabase" got a hold my e-mail. I'm suspecting they may have screwed something up, but that's not likely.
Anyways, I'm getting an error message now in Windows Mail every time I send e-mail.

Hi Guys 'n Gals

Newbie from South Africa and like most I have to kick off my first post with a problem.

I am running a 6 PC peer to peer network at work with one person in particular who pays no attention to the dangers out there especially when it comes to e-mail attachments.

Since coming back from our Seasonal vacations our e-mail accounts are being blocked by our ISP due to a suspected mailbot with this error message:-

"Sending' reported error (0x800CCC67) : ' The server responded: 421 4.0.0 Intrusion prevention active for [41.145.22.134]'"

I have on one PC run 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware', SuperAntispyware, ExterminateIT and Combofix' I want to add that your instructions for running Combofix were a great help as I rate myself as "mid stream computer literate."

Anyway the problem disappeared for one day and promptly returned this morning and would appreciate any help in identifying the infected PC and clearing the infection, and will the cleaning last long enough for me to clear the other machines 1 day at a time?

5 of the PCs are running 'AVG free' and 1 is running Avira Pro. (I think - bosses laptop and I don't have access at the moment)

Any help will be appreciated.

This is the situation:

Two weeks ago my internet account was locked by my cable internet provider due to sending spam mail. I checked my computer by several antivirus and antispyware programs, which found some things, but nothing serious. They advised me to install a firewall. I activated Windows Firewall and they unlocked my account. The situation repeted couple of days later, then they told me that the built-in firewall has one weakness: it doesnt check outgoing email messaging. So I installed ZoneAlarm Security Suite and they unlocked my account again.

Then I discovered (via ZoneAlarm firewall) what is going on. Namely, SVCHOST.EXE is contacting several DNS addresses in order to send email (sometimes some 100 times a day, sometimes up to 3000 times in a few minutes) and every now and then there was also an incoming connection to SVCHOST.EXE from suspicious addresses. Via ZoneAlarm I disabled the privilege of SVCHOST.EXE to send emails and now it is pounding against my firewall. SVCHOST.EXE thus crashes every now and then (approx. once a day) and destabilizes the system, which can then be neither restarted nor shut down. SVCHOST.EXE is located in the SYSTEM directory and looks genuine (from my non-expert point of view), so I guess some process is using it to send emails. At least I have the beast in the cage now, though I would like to kill it.

I have Microsoft Windows XP with SP2, regularly updated with security and other updates. I have an active protection from NOD32 ... Read more

I have a pc running Windows XP and Outlook Express 6..

When trying to send an email I get an error that says "Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below"

The problem is there are no errors in the list and the emails are in fact going out to the recipient.. They are not leaving the outbox so when email is opened again it sends another copy to the recipient. We have been deleting them from the outbox to stop them from resending..

I tried creating another user and it did not have the problem.. So I imported all the contacts and email into the new user and deleted the original account.. That worked for a few days and now it is doing it again..

I have scanned for viruses and spyware, but nothing comes up..
Any Ideas of what might be causing this??

Thanks

Occasionally I've had a problem sending mail from Outlook 2003 after I've downloaded Norton updates. Happened again today and the only way I've been able to fix it (past and present) is to do a system restore. After the update downloaded and requested a restart, trying to send a message from the Outbox just lets it churn and churn, then it gives a send error. Is there a way to counteract this without doing a system restore?

All of a sudden today I was unanble to send or email. After trying all the usual things I was told to disable incoming and out going email scanning. That fixed it. I was told that AVG would still protect me as it would scan when I opened email.

Other option was to uninstall and reinstall AVG.

It would be better if you could have it scan the incoming mail, as that way it will add a virus alert to the message before you even open it.

Also you can try a repair of WLM
to do this go to program and features in control panel

It will give you an option to repair besides uninstall
pick the repair one
once it is done send the email again to yourself first to see if it goes

Hi Everybody!
I was wondering if I could get some help... I have had Outlook Express for a while, and whenever I end up doing a system recovery or something, my outgoing server either STOPS working, or STARTS working, even though I really change nothing. I have one e-mail address I use, it is under verizon.net. My servers are:

incoming.verizon.net
outgoing.verizon.net (i've also tried the other smpt.outgoing.verizon.net (if that's correct)).

Nothing has worked. I can receive e-mails, but whenever I want to send an e-mail, I have to go straight to the verizon.net website, and copy & paste the subject, the e-mail address, and the e-mail itself. Can anybody help? I am really lost, I've looked every where for a solution! I just want some ease in sending my e-mails & receiving them ALL with Outlook Express.

I use DSL (with verizon).

Thanks in advance!

The computer appears to be slower than usual and often has a hard time booting even in safe mode. the machine is runnning windows xp SP2 and has 256mb of ram.
