FFXIV: Error on Installation

Q: FFXIV: Error on Installation

I'm very PC retarded and never had any problems installing a game, but for some reason I continue to get the same error when trying to install Final Fantasy XIV. Picture given below is what the error message says.

If you have any suggestions on how to fix this or know a solution it would be a big help.

Preferred Solution: FFXIV: Error on Installation

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: FFXIV: Error on Installation

that error is common when there is a corrupt installation package or damaged install disk, if it's a disk try cleaning it, if it's straight from the HD then you may be a bit out of luck, try running it on another pc and if it fails then you need a different copy of that installer m8.

I've only experienced a BSOD while playing FFXIV. I've played far more taxing games on my computer with no crashes or other irregularities. It can happen after only ten minutes of playtime for this specific game, or I could go hours with no issue. I've updated all drivers, checked the temperature of my components while playing and none of them are approaching critical temperatures. Ive checked my hard drive, despite it being less than a year old like the rest of the PC, and found no errors. I'm really at a loss here. I'd very much like to play this game, but I don't want to damage my computer with the relatively frequent BSOD's it causes. Any insight to my problem would be most welcome. Thank you for your time.

It happens. FF games cause BSODs on their own. But before saying that, we need to check the situation in detail, and for the purpose the data you uploaded is not enough.

Click on button below ....

It will download the DM log collector. Right click on the application and run as administrator. It will generate a .zip file on your desktop. Upload the .zip.

I built this PC around Dec of last year and until June 22nd, I've had 0 issues with the PC. On June 22 I had my first BSOD and since then I've had 3 more that come and go, about a week or 2 after the fact. I looked with bluescreenview and it seems my Nvidia driver is the culprit but on other crashes it's been Hal.DLL with all the same error code.

They always happen when I'm playing FFXIV and I usually have chrome open too with music or browsing on the other monitor. I've updated the Nvidia driver to the most recent and I was hoping that would fix the problem but today's BSOD proved otherwise.

Hopefully it's just something driver related and nothing major.

Your Blue Screen crashes are relating to the "nvkflt.sys" file. This is an NVIDIA driver. I did some research about this particular driver and found this:
Playing video games, BSOD nvkflt.sys (if not mistaking).

VIDEO_TDR_ERROR bugcheck means that your system attempted to reset your display driver and recover from a "timeout" but failed, thus causing this crash. (apparently. not saying this is the exact reason for the crash, however.) but it does definitely look like your crash was caused by your Graphics drivers. Might I suggest updating your graphics card drivers by going to the manufacturer's website at NVIDIA.com and find your graphics card. Do make sure to uninstall (completely) your current drivers as Windows will automatically detect a display driver for your card and install it as a temporary measure. When this is done, I'd like you to restart your system and continue installing the new drivers freshly downloaded from NVIDIA.

Hello! I seem to get this error when I play Final Fantasy 14, but very rarely it will go BSOD when I am just browsing on Chrome. I am wondering if it might be a hardware issue and if any of you kind folks may be able to help me with my problem. I would like to pinpoint what it is before I go buying any new hardware since that can get quite pricey. I am somewhat computer proficient, but I would not consider myself a wizard like you guys ^^ so I am not afraid to go digging for info if you need any more.

I'm having issues with FFXIV random disconnects -- either 90,001 or 90,002 errors. Most of the dc's started after the latest patch (patch 2.5 - mid march i believe) I noticed other people posting same issue on the Square Enix forum, but no one is replying.
I have called my ISP they did a test with my line, they keep saying everything is normal, no issues. Then I figured it might be an issue with my ethernet card, tried connecting via wireless -- still got dc'd.
I got so frustrated that i had a new computer built 2 weeks ago (MSI Gaming comp) and I'm still having the issue.
I get on Skype / TS with my friends, I log into the game and I'm good for about 5 min before the game kicks me. Skype / TS keeps working fine no issues what so ever with my internet.
We (my more advanced comp tech friends and I) even did port forwarding on my router.
I really need help, out of ideas, been searching different forums / blogs etc for weeks. I just want to enjoy the game that I'm paying for without having to re log every 5-10 min.

Thank you in advance,

p.s.: I'm using Win 7 HP / MSI GeForce GTX 750 2GB / 16GB RAM

A:Random dc from FFXIV

Certainly is something going on as a lot of people have the same issue. And only on PC, not PS.

One thing I saw was someone capped their FPS to 30 and seems to have worked. I haven't played FF online since FFXI and that was about 6 years ago.

EDIT: looks like PS users are also having issues.

I'm really hyped for FFXIV so of course I went out and got the bench mark and ran it quick as I could. I was quickly brought down to earth with a score of 800 (at low resolution). For those who don't know the range goes from like 0 - 6500 or so at both low and High rez. After crying I decided I got a couple of months let me see what I can do upgrade wise. I currently am have:

Windows Vista (32 Bit)
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
4GB Ram
NVidia GeForce 8600 GTS

What I am asking help on is what is the best way to upgrade considering a limited budget? I am not looking to fully upgrade to increase me epeen length. Im just trying to play a game comfortably or even with a very slight level of aggravation. Im definitly considering upgrading to a 64 bit OS but what eles would you reccomend. I thank anyone kind enough to post in advance.

Hi guys,

CPU: AMD Phenom II 965 X4 Quad Core 3.4Ghz Black Ed. 125W AM3
PSU : Corsair VX550W

MB : Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H Socket AM2+
GPU : ATI HD6950 2Gb
Monitor : Samsung SyncMaster 2333HD
O.S.:Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I bought the CPU and GPU a week ago.

I have constant crashes and BSOD's while playing FFXIV.
Some of the BSOD's are:
0x03B related to atikmdag.sys
0X0D1 related to dxgmms1.sys, netr7364.sys or hidclass.sys (Three different BSOD's)

At first I thought it could be that the PSU was insufficient, but I've changed the GPU for my old HD4850, and yet the BSOD's and crashes persist, so it's not a GPU related thing, nor a PSU problem.
I've also tested with different RAM modules, yet having the same problem.

Surprisingly, I've run FurMark at its top options for +2hours... and no crashes nor BSOD's at all!!!
I've also played Dead Space 2 without any crash.

So.. I think it's not a hardware related thing, but a FFXIV issue.
I'll config the game, and play on its lowest options, to see if it helps, since I usually play at 1920x1080, with every option at max except for DoF and ambient occlusion.

I've also reformatted, to see if it was a registry issue, but got no lucky at all.
All my drivers are up to date.

The last thing I did today, was deinstall the GPU drivers, run a registry cleaner, then reinstall the drivers again, but got no lucky either.

I bought Final Fantasy XIV the collector's edition and have yet to play it. I downloaded it just fine, created an account, and went to log in. I can log in, but once I click play, it freezes and closes. It says "Final Fantasy XIV has stopped working. Checking for a solution to the problem." I uninstalled the game and reinstalled. Five times. I even went back to Gamestop and got a new disc. Nothing. Checked online to see if there were any server issues or bugs that anyone else had been having. Nothing. I went to "canirunit.com" and checked to make sure I met the minimum system requirements. Everything passed, except for the video card, but all the little subtitles in the video card section passed and were green so I don't know why the video card didn't passed. It not only meets the minimum requirements, but it meets the reccomended requirements as well. I went to options in the games settings and set graphics settings to lowest possible. Below are the specs for my computer. Any help would be GREATLY GREATLY appreciated! I just want to play my game!

I've had this BSOD a second time now within two months and it's getting me a bit worried. It has happened both times when I have been playing Final Fantasy XIV. I don't exactly know what the error was but I did download the tool to make the files of it (I guess) and zipped it and attatched to this thread.

After the BSOD my PC starts normally and doesn't behave oddly in any way. I might be a bit paranoid since this is only the 2nd time this has happened but it would be nice to know what might be the cause of this and how to resolve it. Any thoughts or questions?

Edit: I am assuming the BSOD is related to the card over heating , but I do not know how to tell for sure or confirm that. Can anyone here confirm these crashes are from my card overheating?

You are highly overclocked.

Processor may be overclocked!
Expected Frequency: 3070

As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.

I had recently gotten a new graphics card in the last 3 weeks. I upgraded from a 1GB 9500GT (yes I know, so old lol) to a 2GB GTX 650 Ti BOOST. Ever since I installed my new card, whenever I play a high end game (BF3, Crysis 2), I get BSOD'd quite often. I figured it may have been old video drivers, so I went back and reinstalled my old card, uninstalled it, and reinstalled my new card again. That didn't work either. I just got FFXIV:ARR (btw is amazing) and I've BSOD'd probably 6 times in the 2 hours I've played it. No idea what's wrong, but this is what I got on the most recent restart:

Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.
Generic "Stop 0x124" Troubleshooting Strategy:
1) Ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Hardware that is driven beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - can malfunction in unpredictable ways.

2) Ensure that the machine is adequately cooled. If there is any doubt, open up the side of the PC case (be mindful of any relevant warranty conditions!) and point a mains fan squarely at the motherboard. That will rule out most (lack of) cooling issues.

3) Update all hardware-related drivers: video, sound, RAID (if any), NIC... anything that interacts with a piece of hardware. It is good practice to run the latest drivers anyway.

4) Update the motherboard BIOS according to the manufacturer's instructions. Their website should provide detailed instructions as to the brand and model-specific procedure.

5) Rarely, bugs in the OS may cause "false positive" 0x124 events where the hardware wasn't complaining but Windows thought otherwise (because of the bug). At the time of writing, Windows 7 is not known to suffer from any such defects, but it is nevertheless important to always k... Read more

Hello all. I have been trying to pinpoint this problem for months. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! When playing Final Fantasy XIV I get several disconnects per day. I have ruled out internet connection issues. I am using a VPN, and my internet connection is up, it's just the connection to the game's servers that drops. My event log shows a Kernel-General entry at the exact time of each drop. The system clock is being updated by approximately one minute 15 seconds each time. It's the update itself that is causing the drop. I was able to re-create the problem by changing the system clock while in game. I thought it may be that my CMOS battery was dying, even though it's only 2 years old, but tests have shown the system clock is not running slow. I have checked it while the game is running and while it's not. It is in perfect sync with the clock in the windows task bar which (I was told) runs separately from the CMOS clock after boot up. There are no other signs that the battery or motherboard are bad. I do have McAfee firewall/anti-virus running in the background, but the problem still persists even when I disable all that. Could the game itself be stopping the system clock for the minute 15 seconds? Or is there a possible hardware issue I am overlooking? I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium svc pack 1. My rig is a Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 motherboard with a AMD 3.6GHz processor and 16GB Corsair RAM. I also have two HD Radeon 6850 with crossfi... Read more

The past couple of nights i've been having freezes and lock ups, without BSODs. THis has been a recurring problem for almost a year now (yes I know, should have addressed sooner but I didn't really know what was going on and just basically dealt with it.) Well, last night it finally happened twice, almost back to back, while playing FFXIV: ARR and streaming South Park from the South Park Studios Website. The freezes have happened while doing almost everything, and then at times almost doing nothing but browsing in Chrome.

However, back to the issue at hand. Last night I got two BSODs while playing FFXIV and streaming vidoe. Attached are the BSOD dumps as per the instructions listed in the sticky on the forum. A tad frustrated so if I've left out any information that could/can/would be helpful, PLEASE let me know!

As an addition, on the first BSOD I was frustrated so i hit the hard reset switch to reboot. On the second one, it rebooted on its own before I could even do anything. Not sure if either of that would show up in the dump file, so theres that.

I've been struggling with this for over a year now. Always seem to rid myself of it for a few days then it just comes right back. Finally at my end with it and decided its time to seek out help from more knowledged people than myself. There is no consistency in the rate it happens I can go all day, a couple days, or I wont even make it 10 minutes back to back without having to stare at the joy of the BSOD. If somebody could figure this out i'd appreciate it cause I have ran out of ideas other than throwing this laptop infront of a vehicle.

The BSOD problems started last night while playing FFXIV. I had a series of crashes but was thinking something was wrong with the game. That stopped when the computer blue screened. After restarting and getting back to the desktop, the Windows solution window popped up detailing that I had a WD-20130408-1733.dmp,
sysdata.xml, and WERInternalMetadata.xml error.

I began looking for solutions in chrome until having problems with websites crashing on me then chrome crashed all together. Reading that I might be a video card error, I went on to the AMD website and downloaded the newest graphic card drivers (AMD Catalyst? 13.11 Beta9.2). I preceded then to uninstall the old drivers, let the computer restart, and installed the new drivers. After that I had no problems in the game or chrome that night.

This morning after being on the computer for about three hours only browsing through chrome, I got the blue screen again. The Windows solution error box reads:

That is from blue screen viewer obviously.

BSOD happens randomly. However when I get in heavily populated areas it happens more. I think it may be a heating issue. Updated all drivers recently with Driver Magician and double checked with Driver Booster 2. Also ran sfc /scannow and fixed 2 problems. Multiple dmp files so I'd start with the latest 2-3 since I did all that.

tells me thats a common error and you need to upgrade your drivers to 10.8 , yours by the looks of that code are 10.7

Hello SevenForums
I've had some issues with BSODs in the past but they would be infrequent enough to not bother me. When I say infrequent I mean 0-2 times a week at max.

I currently play FFXIV regularly on my computer and have been playing it fine up till now. Ever since a patch yesterday, I have experienced several BSODs. Two of them were only 5 minutes apart. I was wondering if the forum could help me get to the bottom of this. I've never been much of a software guy when it comes to tech so I could really use some help.

I have attached my dump files below.

A:BSOD while playing FFXIV patch 3.05 (Dump files included)

You're experiencing 0x101s which are pretty difficult to diagnose. They can be down to a driver, BIOS bug or a possible hardware defect. No drivers are evident in these dumps.
An expected clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor in an
MP system within the allocated interval. This indicates that the specified
processor is hung and not processing interrupts.

I think the first step would be to update the BIOS. The lastest version on the ASUS support page for your board is dated May 2015. Can you take that as the first step and then use the rig as normal to see if the issue persists.

During installation process at Steps 7 and 8, use the Drive Options to delete all partitions and create new as you wish, format and click Next to install to first partition. Ignore the small boot partition it creates.

Hi, I assume you want to get rid of Vista and start over? If so, you should be able to boot from your Windows XP CD, remove all partitions on the hard disk, reformat and install Windows XP.

If this doesn't work, you may want to download the low level format utility from your hard disk manufacturer's website to give you a clean disk, then try the above again.

Just to confirm for us, install the Visual C++ redist 2005, then VC++ redist 2005 SP1, then VC++ redist 2008, then VC++ redist 2008 SP1. Only restart PC after last one has finished and do them in order, one at a time. This will take quite a long time, let them finish. Then run windows update and select everything, in particular the updates for the VC++ redists (mainly security updates) and restart PC again. Tell us if anything here fails and any error messages you get. Are any of your applications getting side by side configuration errors? Then try your program install again. Hopefully it will now work. Tell us what happens. Will try and post links later as this post sent off iPhone.

Hope this helps, though you may have already done this.

P.S. You could try sfc /scannow though I really doubt it will help.

It is not .net Framework that you need, but the Visual C++ Runtimes, in particular the 2005 ones.

I had tried from the early win10 early betas to upgrade from win 8.1 pro 64 bit. I continually got
the error: "The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation" and the code "Error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D". I had tried the fixes recommending by microsoft, including disabling/unistalling antivirus(Bitdefender), removing unneeded peripherals, scanning system files, to no avail. After months of trying various builds, including the final, no luck. I had tried upgrading via iso and windows update. Every time the installation hung at the same spot 86 percent. However, I was finally able to get build 1511 11082 to install. Now, however, my concern is the expiration date in July 2016. I have tried unsuccesfuly via windows update and iso files to upgrade to newer release preview versions, however the error message returns(installation hangs at 86 percent) and the system rolls back to my current version of win 10. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Homebuilt PC, fx6850 cpu, asus m5a99fx board. I am able to clean install with no problems.

Okay, here's the whole situation, I hope you can understand.

A few weeks ago, I had gotten an error, or blue screen of death with a stop error saying unmountable boot volume. Went to get that fixed from a rent to own place where I am renting to own a new computer. Turns out okay with a reinstallation, however, I think the techie forgot to put back in the programs of the drivers and such. After that, I had the error again. I did it myself this time after given a boot disk. Worked out fine again.

Now here's where it gets interesting. I talked with an HP technician on how to get my video card back on, and followed instructions of downloading all the links on their support site and install them all in the sub catergory "Other Drivers". I did that and I get the error. I couldn't exactly remember the codec for it or whatever it is, the last two was 7B. So for now, I'm having it be repaired through the boot disk. So what should I do? Is what I'm doing right now, which is repairing through the boot disk, going to correct the problem, even after installing the drivers?

Edit: The error I get is Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF79A3528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Ok . I have an HP dv6646us and there is NO OS INSTALED. Oh don't get me wrong I know how to fix that error but the problem is, is that whenever Iget to the formatting process of windows 7 installation it literally freezes and tiles itself with blue lines or something. NO THR RAM AND HDD IS NOT CORRUPTED/BROKEN I have ran multiple tests. The error from formatting is x80070057 and I have tried EVERY SINGLE DISKPART AND BOOTSEC COMMANDS ON THE INTERNET. I have also tried startup repair etc. I booted gparted and it said "Your PNP bios is causing a fatal error" I can't even install a Linux Debian without the formatting process freezing. I also tried booting from CD but it doesn't boot from CD. THE BIOS HAS NO OPTION TO CHANGE AHCII or something like that. I conclude that the bios needs to be updated but I cant do it without a windows Os. There have been over 7 versions of the HP dv 66466us and the change log even states it fixes these problems. The bios comes in a self extracting exe. There is no .bin file. I don't know of its possible to flash the bios with usb without a .bin or something If you have any suggestions please do post. Hi Everyone, I'll begin by giving a brief background on whats going on. I have a Dell Inspiron 660s - Its a few years old. My hard drive was failing so I had to replace it. I replaced the hard drive and re-installed the original OS media (Windows 8). After I was finally up and running I downloaded some drivers from dell and did some windows updates. The goal was to try and get my PC back to or at least close to what I had before the hard drive failed. I had windows 10 before the hard drive failure. In order to get windows 10 back I had to download Windows 8.1. Everything seemed to go smoothly until I had to restart and allow the download to finish. I get upto 82% and it stops there for a long time and then eventually goes to a blue screen error stating the problem is a Bad_Pool_Caller. After the bluescreen dissappears it restores back to Windows 8. Another message appears when I get to the desktop stating Windows 8.1 installation unsuccessful error code 0xC1900101 - 0X30018. I would appreciate your help as I am stumped by what the issue is. Thanks.

A:indows 8.1 installation error - Blue Screen Error

I would recommend using the windows media creation tool to create a bootable windows 10 installation disk and upgrade with that. There are so many issues with upgrading to 10, iv had a few machines coming with failed upgrades but most of the time if I use a DVD it will work without fault.

Some things to take into consideration before upgrading

1) Ensure you have all Windows updates installed for your current OS
2) Disconnect any devices such as USB hard drives etc

Try this approach if it doesn't help please come back with results and we'll try to help

So it all started when i was trying to install Itunes and right before it was done installing i got this error "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736b" . So i do some research and learn that i need a newer version of microsoft visual c++ 2005. I try install that and i get this 'Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly.

Ive also noticed some other strange things such as my windows module installer says started and i cant stop it so i think theres something wrong with that and everytime i put in sfc/scannnow it says windows resource protection could not preform the following operation. My windows updates also dont work i get code 80073712.

Please help me I have some skills on the computer but they are somewhat limited but im sure i can follow the instructions.

While updating HP Active Support Library in windows vista home premium it downloads and checks for space allocation and then gives me Error 1316.A network error while attempting to read from file c:\windows\installer\HP active support library.msi Then after the rolling back action I receive Error-1603-Fatal-error during installation consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or msdn for more information. I have tried to go to the latter but have been unsuccessful in eliminating this problem. Is there anything that can be done short of restoring my laptop back to its original out of the box settings?
