I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Error code 2755 when attempting installation for any product.

I am getting Error 2755 when attempting to install or during installation of Java as well as a few other products I have tested as a cross-comparison to this error.

Upon attempting installation it states "The system cannot open the device or file specified."

When you click "Cancel" it states: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing the package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2755."

The computer has Windows XP with SP3 and is fairly up to date, 99.9%. I need some ideas or help in fixing this. I am busy trying to search out some items but I'm hoping someone has fixed this before.

Thank You for yor input

A:Solved: Error Code 2755 when attempting installation of products...

Ok, if you want the short version... skip the links I posted for reference and just follow the steps. Its about 5 minutes or less depending on your machines stability and ability to compute your moves. I recommend you to reboot your computer in between steps and before you begin be sure to create a System RESTORE point as well.

This was written using XP, your system will vary slighty but not much. And YES, this is the broad basics.

Two things first...

Find out what version your MSI installer is and if it needs updating. NOTE: i would have guessed you would of received a different code or error if you just needed an update!?. Such as a message stating to be out of date; needs updating; is corrupted; etc.. i'm failry sure it works this way too. I was also getting an error 2755 when attempting a JAVA install. This turned out to be related to the "Windows Installer" not being set to Automatic and/or the service Started!

A:IE 10 and 11 error install failure ERROR: "Neutral package installation failed"

Hello!
Sorry for refresh this old question, but...
Finally i've got solution in my situation! =)
I have Windows 2008 Server R2 SP1.
When i tried to install IE10, i've got this error in CBS.log:
Failed to find file: amd64_microsoft-windows-scripting-vbscript_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.21238_none_a51187a7608a895d\vbscript.dll
Steps to correct this error:
1. Download this: "Security Update for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Edition (KB2706045)"
2. Don't try to install, it wouldn't =)
3. Extract all files:
AMD64-all-windows6.1-kb2706045-x64_ffc82084794531c27bd4a670408d2c4a4d038ad8.msu /extract:.
4. Run this:
dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:Windows6.1-KB2706045-x64.cab
5. Now you can try to install IE10.

P.S. I think with IE11 problem will be solve in this way too . =)

All of my computer updates have worked like a charm for me, except for Service Pack 1. It says it's always "downloaded", but it never actually succeeds on the installation process. The error code "800B0100" is something I have stuck in my memory, . So, I've tried ALL of Windows's fixes, with no result yet. Windows Readiness Tool doesn't work. I even had to do a factory reset once, due to a problem? guess what? Still SP1 problems. All other updates download and get installed ASAP, but this Service Pack 1 is really making me think something's wrong with my laptop.

So, any idea why the update doesn't work? I've scanned my laptop several times, full scans, high heuristics, scanning PUP's, and even scans before boot, and a healthy laptop. No problem with anything, except no SP1.

Hey guys thanks a lot for strolling through, I truly appreciate it and hope with everyones assistance this issue will get resolved. So here's my issue; have I've found that everytime I have allowed windows update to install anything that has had to do with security, following the updates I have always run into the BSOD resulting in restoring my computer to an earlier date. Well this time, things are a bit different.

Whenever my computer has seemed to start to choke up, and really begins to lag, from things as simple as maximizing a minimized window, and it taking about 20 seconds for it to do so, the BSOD is coming. Heres an example of one:
Ill be honest with you guys, I dont know how to interpret what the cause of it is, nor do I know where people find it,(event viewer logs?) but surprisingly I've worked on computers all my life really.
So heres the issue:
Computer completely froze up on me this time, cursor wouldn't react nothing, BSOD, then I found myself in A continuous looping failure of Windows Start up Repair, unable to actually load windows. I tried repairing the device by booting off my windows 7 disk and this is the error I keep getting:

by the way let me add that theres no restore point (of course right....) so that wasn't an option...

Now if im not mistaken that will be translated further in my logs file? Ive honestly really never known how to go about ... Read more

We are using Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10 on the client. When trying to remote debug using Visual Studio 2010 (from client), I receive the error, "Unable to connect to the Microsoft Visual Studio Remote Debugging Monitor name, '..'
A security package specific error occurred."

Now, a colleague of mine recently noticed he was getting this error a month or so ago (and was on Windows 10 version 1809). We have been trying to troubleshoot it using some suggestions we came across, but most date back to 2012 or previous and target hotfixes
for Windows XP.  I never had the issue (and I was on a previous version of Windows 10), so meanwhile I would do the remote debugging. Last night I got pushed down the upgrade to version 1809 of Windows 10. I see in the update history Servicing Stack and
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 1809 64 based.

What could have changed to now see this error, and what can I do short of uninstalling each update?

Thank you.

This is long, so be patient.

I was trying to install the Palm Desktop s/w for my Palm TX from the CD that came with it. It wouldn't install. I figured it was Vista, so I went and downloaded Palm Desktop & installed it.

I had some problems with syncing, so I tried re-installing Palm Desktop. Several times. [this is where I realize that I messed up]. After reading the documentation for my Palm, in order to use all the features, I *have* to install the version of Desktop on the CD. But it won't work - I think I need to completely uninstall the Desktop s/w from my computer.

So, I tried uninstalling Palm Desktop completely - and I got the infamous "error applying transforms" message. Googling that, I realize that comes from trying to run more than 1 install program at once. I read some stuff about editing the registry, but my registry did not have anything about "transforms" next to "PalmOne" like it said it would, so I left the registry alone.

Then I read to download and install Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (which - hey! - it's compatible with Vista!), which would allow me to uninstall software another way. When I tried to install the exe file, I got the following error message:
Now what?

I installed both the software that came with my Palm Treo 650 and the latest Palm Desktop from Palm. Neither is 100% compatible with Vista. This is what I found works best for me. You account has to be an administrator and uac has to be enabled. Hotsync won't work if you disable uac for some reason. Uninstall whatever version you have installed now. Start Windows Explorer and make sure you can view hidden and system files. Navigate to the Palm folder in the virtual virtual store. On my computer it's here:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\palmOne

Delete the palmOne folder. Insert the CD that came with your Palm. Don't proceed with the autorun. Navigate to the folder where the language appropriate setup.exe is. Right click on it. On the Compatibility tab set it to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 and to Run as administrator. Double click the setup.exe to run it. The initial sync may fail fail during the install. If this happens just continue with the installation. Once the install is finished right click the Hotsync icon in the System Tray and pick Setup. Set Hotsync for manual start. In Windows Explorer navigate to the Palm folder in Program Files. Right click Hotsync.exe and set compatibility mode to XP SP2 and set to Run as administrator. Reboot. You will have to start Hotsync manually. If you try to start it automatically it will be blocked because of the Run as administrator setting. You should now be able to sync to t... Read more

I have run Avast and Malware bytes and they both come up clean.  I went to Microsoft.com and ran a diagnostic fix it tool to fix my registry.  The program said that I did not have any problems with my registry and it did not fix anything.  I tried to do system restore and roll my system back to an earlier date so see if that might help.  I am unable to do do system restore.  When I reboot my computer a pop box appears that says system restore failed  would you like to try again.  Now my internet options are all messed up and I am unable to run any work applications.

I think I can fix the internet options but I still have the Error 1720 code that I do not know about.

I'm trying to test the integrity of some ".cab" packages through DISM and Package Manager but I keep getting the generic error message "the system cannot find the file specified".

In Package Manager, I use the syntax,

Command Prompt> pkgmgr.exe /ip /m:c:\test\test.cab

Alternatively, I might add quotes around the pathname:

Command Prompt> pkgmgr.exe /ip /m:"c:\test\test.cab"

The error received in pkgmgr is:

Operation failed with 0X80070002.  The system cannot find the file specified.

My initial impression was that my syntax was incorrect, though I can't spot the error.  The path points to "test.cab" which is a renamed windows addon which contains the necessary "svcpack" folder and the "entries_XX.ini"
file.  I've used several different ".cab" files, including some downloaded from the Microsoft Update Catalog, with the same result.  Hopefully this rules out the possibility of a corrupt or incompatible file.  I've also tried this
whole procedure on different computers, and have received the exact same error code, so i doubt the pkgmgr tool istelf is corrupt.

Lastly, I've tried an alternative Windows 7/8 tool DISM to try to achieve essentially the same task using the following syntax in an elevated command prompt:

Commnand Prompt> dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:c:\test\test.cab

Hello!

A virus corrupted my system yesterday and I decided to do a full recovery from the partition. This is an HP, and of course it was afflicted with the infamous "Code Purple" error upon recovery. I have no real way to fix this on my own, so I'm thinking about just installing a new OS. I wanted to upgrade to windows 7 anyway.

So, will installing Windows 7 onto this system (which was previously running Vista, but it's been reformatted so that won't matter) fix the code purple error? I've seen some places recommending this way to fix it. Just wondering if anyone knows for sure if the new OS will give me any issues because of this error.

Thanks!

A:Will new Windows Install Fix "Code Purple"?

Posts 1 and 8 in this thread talk about fixes that you could do yourself. You could also email HP tech support for advice.

This seems to be an error involving matching a particular motherboard to a particular Recovery partition or disk, so I think that installing an OS would not be affected. What other issues you may have with a different OS are difficult to predict. Usually there are few problems when using Windows 7 on a computer that originally ran Vista.

Hello! I've been trying to install Java for quite some time, but everytime I try to do so, when the installation is near the end, the following error always pops up:

Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

I have no clue what to do.
Help please?

A:Error 1721 - There is a problem with this Windows Installer package [Java]

Here are a couple of links to download the Windows Installer which should fix your broken one.

The first is for Vista SP1 and the second says it's for a 32bit version, they're the only links I could find, but have a read through them first before you choose (if any) to install.

Download Windows Installer 4.5 Windows Drivers - Software Patch.

Hi Jeric,

Its possibility it might be a corrupt disk. Try the following to see if it will install.

Insert the Office 2010 disk

Click Start > Computer

Open the Office disk, click Organize

Click Select All

Click Organize

Click Copy

create a folder on the desktop or Documents folder, click Organize > Paste

The try installing Office again.

If that does not work, try running the Windows Installer Utility:

Windows Update error code 80070490 appeared on 20 September 2013 and message "Windows can't check for updates". I use Windows Vista Home basic 32 bit, Service Pack 2. I tried almost all suggestions in Internet (including these on Microsoft Web-page) about this how to fix this problem, including Microsoft Fix It, System Update Readiness Tool, Windows Update Diagnostics DIAGCAB file and etc., but the message continue to appear. The last successful update was on 13.09.2013. All updates made before and on 13 September are written as "successful" in "Update history" folder, but when I open "Installed Updates" folder, I don't see nothing and there is written "No updates are installed on this computer", which is strange, because by this moment Windows Update was made automatically without any problems. Please help me to fix the problem with this error code!

I know this was from an old thread (nearly two years, actually), but I wanted to make sure it was still more readily accessible. I searched for nine hours today and kept running against the same set of "fixes" which didn't fix anything.

I have Vista Home (64bit) and somehow (I truly have *no* idea), Windows Installer disappeared. I don't mean turned off or otherwise inaccessible. It wasn't there. I went back and forth to services, etc. searched (online and on the computer) and got NOWHERE - until I found this thread:

Repair Windows Installer Service in Vista (All Versions)

It was simple but I never even thought about it. I followed the steps with one exception: because my msiserver service file was completely absent from the damaged registry running "sfc/scannow" didn't do anything and I had to open the services file and import the changes from there rather than double clicking the msiserver.reg file. I am very, very grateful to have had this information and I hope by posting my experience from today here, it will help someone else who's ready to drop kick their computer...

Thanks,

Hello,

I have tried to start up my PC recently and I get the message

that my boot system has failed due to the fact it's missing the file "\BCD".
I have contacted the microsoft company to report this issue no one can help me without my product code, or a disc/USB with the windows 8 system on it.
I have none of these and yet my issue still remains. My PC has worked perfectly the day before I shut it down.
I'm trying very hard to restore my system but all I can find of the ways to restore it is by clicking control panel, etc...

I cannot access my laptop's desktop all I get is this error message and options to enter the setup utilities, firmware and boot options.

In all I'm asking for is, is there a way to restore my system from any of these options or is this another toss away laptop because windows 8 has failed to find this missing file?
I cannot get a replacement because I do not have the key with me that was used to install the operating system. This is all very frustrating and not to mention my job relies on this computer so it's putting everything to risk with my situation right now.

Thank you very much for your support with this matter I look forward to your options.

Hi! :) I have a Samsung PM800 256GB SSD. I made an image backup two nights ago with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Then yesterday I had some issues with partition alignment which somehow botched the Windows Repair/Recovery Environment found in "Repair Your Computer" when you hit F8 on boot. Windows, however, was fine after a startup repair and the partition was aligned perfectly. :) However, I couldn't get the Recovery Environment back so I did a fresh install of Windows Professional 64-bit onto my system. The recovery partition was there (and on a side note, it was aligned correctly, too). I am now trying to restore the image I made a few days ago. However, I realize I cannot conduct this restore (of the image) if Iaccess the recovery environment through the hard drive (tells me it can't restore because the environment is on the hard drive which is to be restored) or a disc (I cannot eject a disc in the recovery environemnt due to lacking drivers for the touch-sensitive eject key). So I put the Recovery Environment on a flash drive which seems to work fine, though I cannot be certain that this is working perfectly.Nonetheless, I insert the disc with my backup (50GB Blu-ray DL) and the jump drive. Boot into the recovery environment via flash drive (my motherboard supports USB booting) and attempt to restore the image. It tells me it will have to format the drive, etc. However, as soon as I click the final "yes" prompt and it starts to restore, it immediat... Read more

A:Windows image restore (Error code 0x80070057; "the parameter is incorrect")

Guys. I fixed it. It's doing the image restore now. I called MS and they told me that you can't do an image restore unless ALL the drives are exactly as they were. Meaning when I was using my jump drive to initiate the recovery (because I can't eject the recovery disk to put in the image disk), it was counting that as a drive. So no go on using a jump drive to initiate the Windows Recovery Environment. That was what was the "the parameter is incorrect; 0x80070057" error. I figured out a workaround that I should have seen INSTANTLY. All this time, it's been there. When you're selecting an image, Microsoft realized some people might have their images on external drives which require special drivers. You just go there and wala, you see a Browse icon. Go in there, right-click the optical drive, eject, put in the one with the image. It's restoring now. OH YEAH! And, btw, if you were wondering, 3 is the limit of times you can clean install from an upgrade disk on 7. I had to call and get that working, too. ~Ibrahim~

Thanks!

A:Will Installing Windows 7 Fix "Code Purple" Error?

I don't think it give an error if you run a clean install of any OS (Operating System). All you have to backup your data's in other drive (in Same Hard Disk) or different external Hard Disk.

Than boot with your Windows 7
1. It will ask you to boot from CD or DVD press any key... (press any key)
2. It will load windows 7 in your RAM memory.
3. Accept the licensing aggreement.
4. Select the partition in which you want to install Win 7.
5. Click on Format.
6. Click on Yes to confirm formatting (It will give a warning that it will delete all the data's and contents in the partition.)
7. Automatically it will format and copy the system files into your Hard Disk.
8. Enter the key, click next
9. Enter the system name, click next
10. Enter username and password, click next
11. Select express or custom installtion, click next
12. Automatically system will restart.
13. Login with the username and password provided.

That's it. Am sure you won't get any "Code Purple" error.

Do you happen to know where I can download the seguisym.ttf font package for Windows 8? I was downloaded a huge set of fonts I've been collecting over the years, and by accident, they pollutes the Windows 8 font and character symbols set. Now all my arrows and other Metro interface icons are missing, replaced by small rectangular boxes. Help!

A:Where can I download the "seguisym.ttf" font package for Windows 8?

Its there already.(SegoeUIsym.ttf) However you need to use something like charmap to view it. Alternatively a file manager like 7-zip will show the font file in the Windows\Fonts folder. Explorer will not open the fonts folder as a normal file folder - it opens it in Control Panel instead, hiding many of the system fonts and only showing the basic character set.

(The segoeUIsym.ttf in Windows 7 has not got the metro tile icons set in it. Perhaps if the Windows 7 file was put in the Windows 8 Fonts folder it would thoroughly trash metro - anyone up for it?)

That wasn't very helpful was it? Sorry, I should have read the original post properly.

You need your original install media for windows 8, and something that will open the /sources/install.wim file. I would recommend 7-zip:
Download

With 7-Zip installed, navigate to /sources/install.wim and right-click it. Select the 7-zip option on the menu, and open the install.wim.

In the 7-zip file manager navigate to windows\fonts, and find seguisym.ttf.

Simply drag it to your desktop. You can close 7-zip. Right-click the seguisym.ttf file on the desktop, amd select install, and replace any version that may be there already, and you should be ok.

I'd reboot, then check out metro.

Good Evening,

I wondered if someone could advise me - I am having problems installing Windows Vista SP2 (32bit) on my laptop.

The laptop was given to me by a friend as they no longer needed it, I did a factory restore and understandably once it was connected to the internet several updates were required.

Eventually I received notification that the SP2 update was required. I used Windows Update and after downloading it I got the message to say it had failed with an Error Code 8007000D. I know that several Vista users have had this same error and after Googling it to death I am now stuck with SP1.

I have disabled my Comodo Firewall, AVAST Antivirus and downloaded the standalone SP2 installer but it still gave me the error.

I have also run the System Update Readiness Tool but after checking the respective log files they show no errors.

Like others I have also tried installing SP2 in Safe Mode, every method I choose seems to give me the same error message. I have re-downloaded the standalone installer and that didn't work, plus I have deleted all items in the download and event cache folders in Software Distribution and used Windows Update to install it again, that didn't work either.

Right now I am at my wits end and cannot install SP2.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I could try?

Many thanks in advance

Paul

Generally, these errors can occur if the system files are corrupted. Lets try SFC from command prompt first. see if you have registry errors that can be repaired. Use this, one user in this forum recommends running the SFC scannow 3 times, then use the how to repair the missing/corrupt registry entries. Give this a shot and post back . Hi,
I have been having some recurring problems with the attempts to install some automatic windows updates.

I am not able to install these updates, maybe any other updates in general. After attempting the install the following install window says, "Windows Update encountered an unknown error." I start with 3.5, then as the installation starts it says that to contiunue installation I must turn off or on windows features in the Control Panel. I do so and turn off all Windows features. Then continue and it again states to turn off features in the Control Panel.

Hello and thank you for having such an awesome site where all sorts of questions can be answered. This is my first time here so the next couple of questions might seem kinda weird. I recently had a rash of system freeze ups and crashes and after I got all that out of the way and taken care of, my CD-R/RW Drive failed to function. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" What prompts Wndows to do this? I never had Easy CD Creator installed on my computer, but I did buy this off E-bay so I really don't know if the previous owner did! Can anyone help me as to why this is happening?
