Q: Iexplore page crashes at F11 [Full Screen]

Hi!
When I'm running Iexplore and press F11 or click the Full Screen icon I get the message:

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,
Been having a few computer troubles, last couple of days. Up until now, I have never had a computer crash since building my machine. Occasionally I've had to force-quit a program, but never random crashes.

I've had 6 in the last day or so, though. And none of them have happened with a BSoD. The last one to happen was while watching a movie. I Ctrl+Alt+Del'd and it got stuck showing a message "preparing security options..." with the time-circle(?), but never progressed past that point.

They all seem to happen at random, regardless of what I do. When playing full-screen games, watching full-screen movies, or even just sitting idling. I've tried updating my MOBO BiOS, my gfx driver, tried taking out and setting the RAM again, and even ran a full-system scan with both anti-virus and with CCleaner.

I'm afraid I'm not sure what I should do.

I tried to upload the files from the SF_Diagnostic_Tool, but got a message saying I didn't have the correct Security Token?

If there's any other information that you require of me, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi,

I'm having a problem with BF2 where the game will crash with a
"BF2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
error, right after the logo screen. The game doesn't enter full screen mode.

The first time I saw this error was when I was playing around with BattleRecorder (BF2's own recording engine), and I tried to launch a movie in BattleLauncher. This throws the error described above and I can't run BF2 again without getting the error until the computer is RESTARTED (no logoff and back on). I searched for a way to make Battlerecorder work and I gave up. But, the problem now seems to occur when Battlefield 2 is run for a second time. For example, if I turn on the computer, run BF2, play, close BF2, and try to play again without a restart, it crashes. I tried multiple things to fix this problem, and I eventually ended up downgrading my nvidia drivers to 84.21 (i was running 84.25 beta).

I THOUGHT this fixed the problem, but I must have only tried to open the game once when I went and downgraded the drivers, because it still happens. The only things I have installed recently are xfire, and I remember that that program threw me the error whenever I clicked somewhere inside the program to launch BF2 (xfire has a feature to launch bf2 for you so you can play with a friend). I suppose I should uninstall xfire... I'll try that now.

I either play Left 4 Dead or Prototype and my computer crashes with a blue screen when I make a swift mouse motion to the right. It doesn't happen all the time, some days I can play L4D for hours and it won't crash.

Some say the most common thing is Logitech Mouseware. I do have a Logitech mouse, Mx510 Performance Optical Mouse (Blue). I am running on Vista, I have visited the driver site for Logitech and found out that Vista does not require any driver for my mouse, and I never had on in the first place for this Dell XPS M1530. I just plug and use.

So ingame, it would happen when I make a sharp turn with the character to look in first person view to the other side or behind me, with lots of things happening at the same time, such as attacks or explosions, screams etc.

This is what I got as the only info that I could possibly even remember during the 10 seconds before reboot during the blue screen.

Here's a link to a brief description of the error: Troubleshooting Windows STOP Messages
There's not much info here to go on, but most BSOD's that occur during games are due to video problems, with audio problems coming behind them.

So, for starters:
- download the latest version of the video and audio drivers for your system.
- uninstall the current video and audio drivers through Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program.
- install the downloaded drivers.
- reboot and wait for another BSOD :0)

If this doesn't fix it, you'll have to navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump, zip up the contents of that folder and upload it with your next post.

I sometimes experience crashes when playing some games, which is perfectly normal and I can understand that no program can ever be 100% crash proof, but I have noticed some really annoying behaviour during and after a crash.

With many games, when they crash from a full screen window they often cause the window switching behaviour to stop working, starting task manager to close the program is nearly always impossible because I cant switch to it. Any error dialogues, with important information, cant be viewed because all I can see is a blank black/white window, which cant be closed or interacted with in any way.

Often I find myself struggling to close a crashed app, and resort to logging off or even restarting sometimes.

Things I try that rarely work:

-Trying to even switch window.
-Trying to use task manager.
-Right clicking on the taskbar icon to close (doesn't close the app when pressed)

My question is does anybody else notice/have this issue and do they how it is caused and is there anyway to get rid of it?

A:When a full screen program crashes

Hey,

No, it's not normal for a program to crash or for games to crash.

You'll want to start by uninstalling your 3rd party antivirus and then setting Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too.

If issues persist, attach the results of the tool found here:

I am using Windows 7 and IE8.

I have two user name accounts set up on my laptop. When I click on this one particular link--inside the company website that I work for--the page opens full screen when I am logged on under one user name but not on the other user name. I have tried hitting Esc, F11, etc. and nothing will let me exit fullscreen. I can hit Alt + space bar or Alt + F4 and get a menu but size is grayed out. I can use the menu to minimize to get out of the application but under this one particular user name I can't get the address bar or the - [] + toolbar to show. I have noticed that at the end of the address--under the user name that I can see the address bar--the address ends with a BHO ending.

Would the reason this one page acts this way is somehow the page is stored in something like temp files or history somewhere?

Would anyone know of any tips or tricks that I can use to make a change so this page will not load fullscreen?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Like the title says. My PC crashes after playing a game running in full screen. Whenever I play a game such as UT2k4 or The Sims 2 in full screen mode. It runs fine and I have a good time playing my games with no problem. When I'm done playing my games, that's when the problem happens. I see part of my desktop and icons but it's crashed / frozen. However. When I play a game in window mode and close it out after I'm done playing, it doesn't crash my computer. I thank you all in advance for your help.

I have tried to make sense of the microbian chromeless window scripts that are all over the internet.
I couldn't get them to work properly.
So what I did was to have my index page open a full screen popup window using body onload.
But I want the first index window to autoclose immediately or else just open 1 full screen window.
I have seen scripts with browser detection that are very long.

What is the easiest way to have 1 full screen window when they come to a website?

After trying some things (that didn't work) that seemed like they would work I decided to ask for help. I have two monitors, a large 1080p one which is plugged into my graphics card and a smaller 4:3 VGA monitor for secondary tasks that's plugged into my motherboard. Although I have not tested this issue with other video streaming services, it seems that YouTube (although it could be other services as well) will crash whenever I put a video in full screen mode on my larger (primary) monitor.

That being said, my computer will NOT crash when I use full screen mode on my smaller, secondary monitor.

My computer also does not crash while playing/using any games or programs in full screen, with the exception of WildStar (more on that later).

I have gone through device manager and searched for every update I could find for my devices, and I have also ran through GeForce Experience to update my video drivers as well, so none of my hardware is out of date.

I have tried disabling certain devices to see if there was an issue with those (I had gotten some new peripherals at the time) and it has not fixed the problem either.

I have ran a memtest through windows, and although most people say that memtest86 (or whatever it's called) is more reliable, I figured that since the windows memtest came clean, and an issue with RAM causing a blue screen just from YouTube, I decided that it would be extremely unlikely that RAM would be the issue since I can run pretty much every program I have... Hello,

When the computer used XP as it's OS, opening any IE window caused a second, blank IE window to open and attempt to load - what it was loading I don't know, but when that window was closed, the intended destination could load...anyone seen/heard that one before?...any thoughts? Thanks so much for the chance to find out!

When I click on a link on an Internet Explorer page (version 5.5 SP2), the size of the new window that opens is much smaller than my screen. (It's about one quarter the size of my screen.) Of course, I can resize it, but in the past a "full screen size" new window always opened. What setting can I change so that when a new IE window opens, it is bigger than the sliver I now get? Thanks.

A:Full screen sizing for new page in Internet Explorer

Hi,

It needs to be resized manually:

Start IE5, right click any URL and select Open in a New Window.
Go back to the first IE5 window you opened and close it.
Return to the second window and manually drag it to fill the screen.
(Do not use the maximize button)
Close this second window, using the close box.
All windows should now open maximized.
And the trick is NOT to use the maximize button, for that's a temporary setting which will not be remembered.

Good luck,

Hi, I bought a new laptop and it has a problem i discovered. I cannot return the laptop as it already past the returning date (30days). The problem is discovered last week after i installed lots of games.

My laptop crashes at full screen mode on any games i installed. At first I blamed the game, but after installing lots of games and tried every single one of them (age of empires3, medieval2tw, COD, black and white 2, red alert3, etc.). After this, I also tried to use some 3d programs like the ones built with the latest Nvidia SDK with Direct3d 11 and still crashes. The crash (to be specific) is almost a crash to desktop (CTD) BUT, weirdly, it loads itself back and then loops again more like alt+tabing when ur in game(it's not sticky keys). However, the 3d programs like the one in NVIDIA doesn't ''alt+tabs'', it's a complete crash and the windows will then try to resolve it (which fails). It's a bit powerful laptop and here are my specs:
Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit
Core 2 duo t6600 2.20ghz
4gb ram ddr3
1gb Nvidia Geforce gt 240m
Supported by PhysX but Games requires DirectX so I installed it. Would it clash? I dont think so, coz you can turn off the physX gpu. and i tried that.
1tb HDD
Now, the things that I have tried are:
Update/install my video card driver, chipset and was going to update my BIOS (which is the latest so that's why i did not).
Installed the directX 11 (SDK), and even tried the Direct x 9.0c.

I just upgraded my video card from a ATI Radeon 2400 pro (512MB) to a ATI (rebranded to XFX) Radeon HD 4650 (512MB).

With the new 4650 when I try to play Ytube videos full screen (HQ or standard) they (FF/IE) crash. Plays Utube video just fine till I try to go to full screen. I did not have this problem with the 2400. I have downloaded the newest drivers from the web (off of XFX's site). Everything else plays just fine, videos with VLC, Blu-Ray with PowerDVD, they all play full screen just fine.

Anyone else have this problem with this card or know what the problem might be?

Whenever I play fullscreen games such as League of Legends or Diablo. After about a couple of minutes, it will randomly crash. I've done a reformatting on the computer to no avail (the problem still persists). Not sure if it's a hardware issue and if I should get the graphics card replaced.

I've also updated all of my drivers so I know the problem isn't with not having updated drivers.

When it crashes, the screen has rainbow streaks, and the audio starts looping. I have to restart just to go back into my game and whatnot.

Suggestions on how to fix this problem? Should I downgrade my drivers?

How can I debug this problem?

Also I can't access the boot menu to format from the CD/USB. It takes me to the "start windows normally start windows in safe mode etc" screen.

I've tried all the F keys including the escape key and none of them work, because they all take me to the same screen. The only way I can reformat my computer is by doing it through the actual windows itself. I can't even make my current partition active for some reason even though I'm administrator.

I don't know why, but ever since this afternoon, Windows decides to crash complete whenever I'm a few minutes or so in watching a YouTube video. It doesn't do it playing intensive games like Grand Theft Auto 5 yet it decides to do it watching a YouTube video. How Windows crashes is the reason why I'm making this thread.

What happens when I'm in the middle of watching a video is that the screen goes black with the cursor flickering and later disappears as well as the audio cutting off with nothing but blackness. Pressing anything does not make sounds, and nothing appears after a moment of blackness, not even a blue screen. And after restarting, the interface does some strange behavior I've never seen before. The resolution is changed to 800x600 (or 1024x768, I don't know, 4:3 aspect ratio) and the options are even more awkward. The only options through adapter settings (resolution cannot be changed in advanced display settings for some reason) are all in 4:3 aspect ratio with of all the standard refresh rates in PCs is a never heard of 64 Hz applied to each option

Fortunately, things go back to normal after another restart, but the crashing while watching YouTube videos in full screen continue to happen. Now this issue doesn't annoy me to the very core, but it does bother me that such an interruption can happen. I prefer to watch videos in full screen, so I want to know how I can fix it. I don't want to be hesitant to watch something in a preferred mode forever. Let me know ... Read more

It has a warranty on it so I wasn't sure if I should just send it back to get fixed, or if I could fix it myself. Thank you for any help you can provide!

Hi: I have done a Print Screen of my desktop and pasted it in Paint. Then saved the file on my hard drive - which I have done in the past. But now I cannot get it printed out on a full page (81/2 x 11 Page). Why? I have done this before but cannot do so tonight. I can print but in smaller size.

Thanks,

Ardath Morrison

A:Using Print Screen-Pasting in Paint - and how can I print full page

Once you paste it in Paint, click on Resize. What does it show for Percentage and Pixels?

Also try opening it in Windows Photo Viewer and printing from there.

The usual cause of such errors is a bad hard drive or bad memory. Run an extended diagnostic (F12 at powerup) on the system.

Can someone please advise how to troubleshoot this issue, or let me know an easier way to find out what is going on...

Hi,

Spec: WXP, 192MB RAM, 30 GIG HD, PII Processor
Security Apps installed: Spybot, Adaware, SpySweeper, NAV, XP Firewall.

I searched on the knowledge base for help with this one, but to no avail.
Hope u guys can help.
Everytime I open IE6 it crashes after a few minutes.
The task manger is showing a process called Iexplore.exe (which I assume is IE and is a legit process). Problem is, it is running at 99% CPU, which leads to the crash on the machine. Everytime I end the process, IE closes and the machine returns to a normal state.

I run a pretty tight system (although, I know the spec isn't great for XP, at the moment)
Thanks.

A:Iexplore crashes

It may be a damageg file or something related to it but in any event please post a hijack log after running your adware scanners so we can see exactly what is running on the system..

Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ or from http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=3155&file=3&evp=3304750663b552982a8baee6434cfc13
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the " scan " button will change into a " save log " button.
Press that, save the log , load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Hello. I experience a very strange behavior with iexplore 11 and EMET 5.2 on a Windows 7 running in a VirtualBox virtual machine.
In the virtual machine the iexplore.exe is crashing after a few seconds. It won't load any webpage during the time the IE is visible. Googling for the error message that showed up in the event viewer pointed me to EMET as source of the problems. And indeed,
deactivating EAF did the trick: iexplore was running normal afterwards, even after re-activating EAF.
Strange is that with the same Windows 7 installation routine (automatic installation via task sequence) in VMWare the error didn't occur.
Is there any known issue with EMET 5.2 (on Windows 7) when running in VirtualBox? I would really like to eliminate the problem as our current workaround (manually disabling and re-enabling EAF via EMET GUI) involves a lot of manual labour (2 restarts of
the virtual machine) in an otherwise fully automated process that runs multiple times every day.
best regards
Bjoern

Next time I call up Iexplore I get a Full screen, home page of "about:blank".

Seems I've tried everything to get it to stay on the page I want but it keeps getting reset to about:blank somehow.

Hi,
I am having several issues. The most telling is the fact that my internet explorer dies after being started (thank goodness for firefox). I went to c:\program files\internet explorer and renamed iexplore.exe to iexplore.exebak, and watched a new iexplore.exe appear in its place (and saw winlogon appear in task manager briefly if that is relevant, as it happened.) I've run hijackthis several times and tried some cleaning of my own. Two dlls that seemed relevant were

So far:
1) I ran hijackthis and created and saved my log. Since then I cleaned off Items that looked suspicious or unwanted. I will attach the 'original' hijackthis.txt results, and the 'current' one if I can upload two.
2) I ran Malwarebytes and removed all of its suggestions.
3) I have run Super Anti Spyware home and cleaned off the minimal hits it found.
4) I am running SAS Pro with the settings mentioned in here but so far I have not had any hits.

Hi guys, sorry if this is the wrong section - I couldn't find a dedicated video section. Anyway:

Firstly, I'm running a bug free and competent AMD Phenom II x6 machine with an ATI 6870 and 8 gigs of ram. Hard drives have plenty of space and there aren't any hardware faults. Everything tends to run fine.

Since I installed Silverlight to use LoveFilm streaming, though, fullscreen viewing inexplicably stutters!

Solutions tried:Reinstall GPU driver (cleaning it with driver sweeper, CC cleaner etc)
Reinstall Silverlight
Uninstall windows update that installed original silverlight
Reinstalled it again
Turned off any custom video settings in the ATI Catalyst
Tried using IE, FireFox (currently use chrome)
Tried increasing amount of space Silverlight can use
Tried turning hardware acceleration on in the Silverlight options

I can't think of anything else. It doesn't matter if the film or TV show is HD or SD, full screen will stutter. My native resolution is 1920x1080, as per, and my refresh rate is 60hz. No clashes there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Note I've tried Silverlight 4 and 5, both cause the same problem.

Ok what is going on here is your screen is set to a smaller size in game then in windows.
If you check your windows settings you will see something like 1440x900 then look at the setting in game it may end up being 800x600. See the difference.
Also what game are you trying to play, I know that most steam games you need to enable the widescreen support in game then you can change the resolution to the correct size for your screen.

Hope this is the right place to ask about this. I have XP, and use IE7, and have DSL, and basically don't have many problems with browsing the internet and whatnot, but I noticed when I went to Blockbuster.com the other day that after the page had loaded, I still couldn't grab the scrolling bar on the side of the window. It took what I thought was a long time, especially since the page had loaded. Anyway, for the heck of it, I opened task manager and saw the iexplore.exe was at 100%, and then would go to 0, then maybe 30%, back to 0, and maybe back to 95-100%.......you get the idea. What I thought was odd was that it seemed to frequently go to 100% or darn near when I'm not doing anything except sitting there looking at the task manager. I've noticed this same type of "not being able to navigate" for a minute or so at Amazon and Ebay also. My thinking is that they are just incredibly busy sites, but I still don't get the cpu usage jumping around like that well after the page is loaded, but then, I'm not a computer whiz, hence the question.I also went to the Computer Haven forum before this, and when I was trying to edit a message I had posted there, the cpu usage was so high, I was waiting for my backspace key to work to fix a typo!!! That seemed really ridiculous! I had task manager open while typing and was watching the iexplore.exe stay at 100% or darn near the entire time......really weird. Hey

Currently working on my cousin's computer, keeps coming up with a porno link as the Internet Explorer's homepage, cleaned up startup, removed a couple of random viruses, spyware plus a few porn dialers. Even gone so far as to remove all the settings for Internet Explorer from the registry all together, after restarting the computer and loading Iexplore all the porn links are back in there again. I'm fully stumped, anybody out there got any good ideas? As far as I can see there's nothing loading up on startup that isn't meant to be there. Also just finished running hijackthis and I'm a bit uncertain as to what to take out and what to leave.

Thanks in advance

For some reason, starting this morning, any time I open a game in full screen mode, I get a full freeze. No mouse movement, Ctrl+Alt+Del / Ctrl+Shift+Esc / Alt+F4 / Alt+Tab do nothing, and the ultimate test, toggling capslock doesn't change the light on the keyboard. Only a hard reboot remedies the problem.

I'm convinced it's not a video card issue simply because if I start the same games in windowed mode, they run perfectly fine. I updated to Catalyst 10.10d yesterday, but the problem didn't occur until today, so I'm not entirely sure if they are related. Google's turned up nothing, at any rate, and I don't want to go through the effort of a full driver wipe until I'm sure it's the problem.

Something that troubles me a little: Fallout New Vegas randomly started detecting my Radeon 3870s as a GeForce 7900. It did not do this originally. Fallout 3 and Oblivion still detect it properly, however.

This problem happens in all games I've tried, across multiple engines, including several Source games, several Gamebryo games, and a few other random games. This is not a BSOD issue, it simply freezes with a black screen. My drivers, DirectX and Windows are all completely up to date.

Edit: Forgot to include customary dxdiag info.
