Single user can't connect to internet on IE8 on multiple machines.

Q: Single user can't connect to internet on IE8 on multiple machines.

Basics: Windows 2003 Server with a domain behind Cisco 1811 router/firewall.
Primary Domain Controller and Secondary Domain Controller both Win 2k3. 30 workstations. Active Directory setup with roaming profiles. No proxy server.

Affected Workstation: Windows XP SP3 with IE8. Rebuilt TCP/IP stacks and Winsock on workstation. Removed and reinstalled IE. Listed 2 internal and 2 external DNS Resolvers in DNS tab. Can ping external IPs from command prompt.

Problem: I have a single user that can not log onto the Internet with IE8. No one else is having any issues. In the information bar at the bottom left when attempting to open Google (or anything else) it gives the "DNS Error.html" warning then displays "Website can not be opened". I can log this user off of the workstation, log on as admin or anyone else, and internet connectivity is no issue. If he logs onto a different computer that has no problems, he has the same issue of no connectivity. This would indicate that it is somewhere in his personal settings. How would I diagnos this or make changes in these settings so he can get on the internet? Or do I need to look somewhere else?

Preferred Solution: Single user can't connect to internet on IE8 on multiple machines.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello and Welcome to TSF!

See if resetting the Hosts File helps.

Also, please verify if you have any Proxy settings, if you do then remove it by following this guide.

An update will be appreciated.

Hi, i'm new here, already tried to search the site for help but can't find what i'm looking for. I have 3 computers that I have already reinstalled Xp on them. Problem is they wont validate because the disc that I used came with another computer and i'm using the product key off the computers that I was reinstalling XP on, and when I go to validate them the product keys obviously dont work because they are suppose to be used with the OS that they came with. I did not know this until it was to late. So my question is, is there a xp disc, software that I can use to put on my computers and then use the product keys that are on the case to validate. I also just bought a win7 full version, both 32 and 64 bit disc that I have put on my laptop. So could I use the Win7 disc and just buy the product keys if the the xp option doesn't work?

A:Using Single Xp OS disc on multiple machines

Welcome here.

I couldnt get you clear in your previous post.

You installed XP with the same key to 3 machines and when you went to validate, it isnt validating. You would buy a new win XP but still not willing to reinstall the XP. you are looking for a software so that you could just update the key on the already installed xp rather than installing all over again and validate. If this is what you want, give a reply, will let you know the solution.

Hi there

I'd really love a keyboard that had say 4 buttons on it --like Fn buttons that would switch output to any one of 4 machines -- such a simple idea but why nobody hasn't yet got one out on the market I can't understand it

I'm really FED up with messing around with two / 3 physical keyboards and I don't want a USB switch box on my desk.

All the keyboard would need is 4 USB outs (or 4 receivers for wireless) the active connection being made by a key press on the keyboard. In fact the only difficulty would be the right receiver for the wireless transmitter but that is easily solved by say a different colour key on the keyboard and an id (same colour) on the receiver.

I'm sure some of you testing several machines on a workbench have faced similar problems of multiple keyboards.

Any budding entrepreneurs out there --I'm sure loads of you have felt a need for this type of keyboard. Maybe there is one - but not seen at all !!.

Any engineers -- any idea how I could even consruct one --I'm quite handy with a Soldering Iron etc.

I'm very frustrated with Windows 7!

I have been using a Sprint mobile broadband USB data modem for over a year now.

I had a home network of 3 client PCs connected to a router via Ethernet cables.

I had the modem plugged into my computer. (XP Pro) The other PCs running XP home.

I had multiple users accounts on my computer. 1. Admin, 2. Mine (I use to keep from having admin security issues) and others for my children.

As long as my computer was turned on (no user had to be logged in), all the other network computers could access internet.

Everything was great until I bought a new system for myself this spring.

It is not a brand name computer. (None of my computers are) I had it put together at a computer shop.

Reluctantly I let the tech talk me into purchasing Windows 7 Pro instead of XP Pro. I went with the 32-bit for compatibility with my older programs.

I was able to set up (with some minor frustration) a new home group network using the same setup as I had before.

I managed to get all 4 networked computers connected to the internet as long as my new computer (with the modem) is turned on, logged in to my user, and connected. (Not the admin)
My issue is with my win7 computer. Only 1 of my user accounts on my computer will connect to the internet.

Hi, As with everyone's questions here, I'm hoping someone can help. I have searched through the archives and found what I thought were solutions, but nothing is yet working.

Problem: I have several computers in my home, and several mobile devices. Until yesterday, all were working well when connected to my wireless. (These are mixed platforms: Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Mac OS X (Yosemite), an couple of android devices, an iPhone, Kindle and HP printer.)

Yesterday, our windows boxes failed to connect to the internet. The Mac connected intermittently, and one of the android devices seemed to be continuously connected. Resetting the router did not fix the problem.

I called Comcast today, and after troubleshooting and apparently fixing the problem (for all of the time it took to hang up the phone), the connection failed again. This time, however - the Mac, iPhone, android devices ... everything except the Windows machines are connecting. Both the 8.1 and the 7 boxes are affected. The 7 box will keep its connection a bit longer than the 8.1, but both are intermittent in getting and keeping a connection to the outside world.

I'm stumped. You can see what I've tried below and still no consistent internet on the Windows boxes. What have I not tried, and is there an obvious solution I overlooked here?

Thanks!

What I've tried on the 8.1 box (not necessarily in this order):

A:Solved: Cannot connect multiple windows machines to home network

Let's focus on one system, preferably the Windows 8.1 system for which you gave the TSGinfo. For both a good connection and for the problem situation ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following commands:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

ping <the router> [you apparently know how to do this]

ping 8.8.4.4

ping yahoo.com

[Press ENTER after each command.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I have my home network set up with one wireless modem and then 6 WAPs. The way I got mine to work seamlessly was to use the same SSIS, password and security. I do use different channels so I don't get interference. It works great. I need so many because I have a farm with 3 buildings and some CB walls with rebar that doesn't let the wifi signal pass thru.

Hi

Is it possible to have a Vista media centre PC with multiple users?

For example is it possible to have the media centre set-up in your front room and have a monitor / keyboard in a separate room and have multiple users e.g. someone watching the media centre in front room while someone working in a study with a remoate monitor / keyboard - all from the same media centre box?

I have looked at some of the linksys / falcon etc... wireless media extenders but they only seem to extend movies / pictures / TV to another room and not the functionality of the PC through use of keyboard / monitor.

There were no issues until this past weekend when the Win 7 machines started saying a specific printer was offline while the XP machines would still print to it. The printer (HP T1100) is connected directly to the network, not shared. There have not been any changes made to the printer, server or the machines.

Hi guys,

Wow a lot has changed since I last logged in, anyways I'm needing a bit of help today.

Running:
Windows 7 Ultimate, 32bit (fully licensed).
3Gb DDR2 RAM.
AMD Sempron 3400+ 1,80Ghz.

I have a media center setup in my living room that I use as a Home Theater, I also use it from time to time for general PC usage etc.

I have two user profiles 'PC' - for normal PC stuff and 'Media Center' - which runs WMC for movies/music etc.

What I'm wanting to do is stop all network connections on the 'Media Center' user profile but keep access on the 'PC' profile.

The reason for this is on the 'Media Center' profile I want to be able to run as little as possible, eg no Comodo/Avira Antivirus etc so that I have as nothing running that i don't need for playing movies (if you get me? basically cutting out all the c**p)

Just blocking access to programs is not enough as I don't want to not have firewall/anti virus running if there's still a chance that someone/something can access through the internet connection.

Unplugging cables is not an option as built into a media cupboard under the stairs.
Disabling and Enabling LAN connection is a pain and there must be a workaround for what I want.

I have searched but have been unable to find the answer anywhere so far.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!!

I am writing about printing on an HP 1410 All-In-One. The problem is this.
I have a Word 2003 .doc. I then insert a jpg from a file. I locate it in the document where I want it and size it accordingly. For example: let's say the picture is 2" x 3" on the printed page. The document appears correctly in the program and in print preview.
However, when the page is printed, the jpg is printed twice, one over top of the other. Note: they are not superimposed. However, there are two images (2" x 1.5") and the perspective is "squashed."
Any suggestions if this is a Word 2003 problem, an OS problem (Windows 2000 Pro), or a printer problem?
Thanks for your help.

I have several sets of folder trees, each with multiple sub-folders, each sub-folder containing multiple files. I would like to merge all of this into a single folder tree, retaining the same sub-folder structure and each sub-folder containing a single set of files, eliminating all of the inevitable duplicates that will arise from the merging.

Doing this manually with Windows Explorer is both tedious and time consuming. I have to select all of the files in one of the sub-folders, then drag the selection to the corresponding sub-folder in the main folder tree, choose 'move and replace' and tick 'do the same for the next x conflicts' and repeat this process for each of the many sub-folders.

Although I did an online search before posting this plea for help, I have only seen utilities that will merge all files in multiple folders into a single folder, I have not seen a utility that will do what I need.

I'm hoping that someone will know of a utility that will save me doing this manually for the next many years!

Thank you in anticipation.

I have several folder trees each containing many sub-folders, say A, B, C, D and so on. The names of the sub-folders are mostly the same between the various folder trees, although there could be an X, Y, Z in one folder tree and not in others, or only 20 sub-folders in one folder tree and 40 in another.

Each sub-folder contains many files, most of which are the same as those in other sub-folders of the same name. For example, folder A in one tree may have 50 files, 40 of which are the same as sub-folder A located in another folder tree.

What I am trying to achieve is a single 'master' folder tree containing all of the sub-folders in each of the existing folder trees, each sub-folder containing all of the files in all of the sub-folders of that name, without any sub-folders or files in each sub-folder duplicated.

I can achieve exactly this by manually moving files to the corresponding sub-folder in the 'master' folder tree, clicking 'move and replace' and ticking 'do this for the next x conflicts', but it is tedious and very time consuming.

Thank you in anticipation that someone will know how to automate this otherwise laborious process.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 on my laptop.  I have a Fedora Core 7 server running SaMBa.  They share a /28 subnet (with 0, 6, and 7 taken by networking, 1 - 4 on the server, 5 on the laptop).

The server has multiple SaMBa shares (for this example, \\myserver\share1 and \\myserver\share2).  There are two SaMBA users, user1 and user2, each either their own passwords.  user1 can access \\myserver\share1 and user2 can access \\myserver\share2 .  I log on to the Vista laptop using a separate user/pass from either of those two accounts.

When I attempt to connect to these shares, I can do so without a problem if I connect to them singly using "connect using different user name".  However, if I attempt to connect to both simultaneously, I get:

If you have to select a user's icon at the log on screen, then what other user's icon is displayed to select from if you only have a single user account on the computer?

....or do you mean that you have to enter both the user name and password at log on instead of just the password?

Do you use a proxy or not? Usually not for a home network. Make sure the setting is correct in Firefox: Tools - Options - Advanced - Network tab - Settings... . You probably should have "No proxy" selected, but make sure it is correct for your network.

I recently had to reload windows 7. every thing seemed allright Untill I rebooted now it does not automatically connect to the internet. It will not let me troubleshoot it because I do not have administrator permission. It also does give me the run as administrator option on anything. It does not do me any good to switch to admin because everything works as admin. how do I give the system rights to networking.

A:comp will not connect to the internet as standard user

Welcome to SF,

Is this a personal computer or business?

Either one, you will need an Admin permission to have more priviledges to tweak settings in your computer.
If you have re-installed the O/S, you shd have an Admin permission by default.

Hi there,

I have an HP Desktop computer and I cannot connect to the internet. The problem started with my mouse not working well then my keyboard so we replaced them (that was a month ago). Then strange thing started to happen, a ticking sound started to sound every few minutes ..
Apart from that, the computer seems well and functions properly. Then one day when I tried to turn it on, the screen looks different. I am referring to what I usually see on my screen whenever I turn it on..my pc is running on windows 7 but right now it looks like its on XP. Plus I cannot connect to the internet. The icon is no longer on the systems tray and when I tried to do the following:

system restore
network troubleshooting

it wont allow me..when I do system restore it will say A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error. Check the application event log for more information (0x80042302)
and with \

Pllease help...is this free or there is a cost? Let me know..

Thanks
Erika

A:multiple problem..please help!!! cant connect to internet , cant do system restore

The 0X80042302 error may be caused by windows system files damage. The corrupted system files entries can be a real threat to the well being of your computer.
There can be many events which may have resulted in the system files errors. An incomplete installation, an incomplete uninstall, improper deletion of applications or hardware. It can also be caused if your computer is recovered from a virus or adware/spyware attack or by an improper shutdown of the computer. All the above actives may result in the deletion or corruption of the entries in the windows system files. This corrupted system file will lead to the missing and wrongly linked information and files needed for the proper working of the application.

Novice Computer User Solution (completely automated):
1) Download (0X80042302) repair utility.
2) Install program and click Scan button.
3) Click the Fix Errors button when scan is completed.
4) Restart your computer.

hope this helps

I upgraded from Windows 7 pro 64 bit to Windows 8 pro 64 bit on two computers and all went well for a day. After that I get the BSOD on both machines at least 8-10 times each day. I called the Windows help desk and was less than satisfied with their analysis skills since they did not even seem to care about looking at the DMP file even after I mentioned it several times. I zipped the dmp file in case anyone can read it. Thanks in advance.

I have just resolved this idential problem three times already today. You must uninstall your current anti virus and use the built in Microsoft Security Essentials/Windows Defender. Start with a restore point first, so that you can go back in the event of problems.

Hello All,

Before posting I want to say that I am a long time lurker of this forum and the site in general. There has been so much useful information found on this site ver the past few years and would like to say thank you.

Anyways, recently I have been dealing with multiple machines showing up under AVG admin console saying that C:\windows\taskshost.exe shows up as infected. I'm assuming that something else is going on and using taskshost.exe as the local resource. I've tried running and cleaning the machines multiple times but come up with nothing. Then, I get a letter from their ISP saying that they are blacklisted because spam as been originating from their IP address. This is the quote I got from the ISP:

GameOver Zeus (GOZ), a peer-to-peer variant of the well-known bank credential-stealing Trojan Zeus malware, uses a decentralized network infrastructure of compromised personal computers and web servers to execute command-and-control. GOZ is primarily used by cybercriminals to harvest banking information, such as login credentials, from a victim's computer. To date, GOZ activity has led to the loss of millions of dollars through fraudulent Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions and wire transfers. Infected systems can also be used to engage in other malicious activities, such as sending spam or participating in distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

So, I'm assuming that the two issues are related. After redoing an invento... Read more

Hello this will be better resolved with a repost and a DDS log from the Main machine. Please follow the instructions in THIS GUIDE starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it HERE. Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic. If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient. If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

Is it possible to connect a free-standing HP Laserjet 3330 and a system controlled Brother 5-in-1 MSC5440CN to one dedicated line without interfering with one another? I would like one in one office and another in another office. Does anyone know a way to do this? I would appreciate any help you may be able to offer.

-clicking on a download pdf link gives me a "can't access internet" message.
any ideas on theses issues... ? firewall?

Can I run windows 8 like windows 7 while m getting the kinks out of this system? I really can't afford to waste all this time.

Welcome to Eight Forums,

You may install StartIsBack to get the Start button similar to Windows 7.

Instead of using Chrome, is it possible for you to switch to the latest IE which is IE 11? I also use Firefox.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys

I have a classroom that we need to log in as a local admin (the exam software needs administrator privelidges to work correctly) and I was wondering if anyone could come up with a solution to save me having to go to each machine and log them in indevidually. Ideally I'd like to be able to do this all remotely.

what about vnc? i think i remember seeing that software on the computers when i was going to school. you would still have to log into every computer but you could do it all without having to leave your computer. vnc shows whatever is on the screen of the computer that it is connected to.

Hello.

Looks like we are going to roll out W7 on multiple machines. We have approx. 38 identical machines (XP) we want to install this too. I know we need to back up the data then do a "Custom" install, and reinstall the programs, but has anyone used anything that will speed up the process (SUS, Ghost, etc).
Oh, and would it be best to roll these out prior to our W2008R2 roll out, at the same time or W2008R2 first?

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

SMC

A:Install On multiple Machines at the same time

HK

have you tested win 7 extensively in your environment. Networking, sharing, compatibilty with core apps?

For 38 machines its really not that bad. You can create images (ghost or acronis) you can also slipstream the upgrades and make it unattended. that number of machines can be done easily over the weekend with a little help.

Let me know if I can help, or if you have questions

Hello all.
I have been thinking of how can I make MBSA scan reports for multiple machines.

As of now I've been looking report from GUI only, but it is too much time taking when you have to make a summary of missing updates of around 200 computers at a stretch.

Can someone throw some light on mbsacli options to generate reports for remote scanning from a server. I read that detailed report cannot be generated using
mbsacli for multiple machines scan. If anyone can provide a command for generating report (incuding all the details available in GUI) for a single host, I can create a batch script to do the rest.
P.S.- I am using MBSA for remote bulk scans, not local scans.

Thanks,

I like short answers.

Nope, activation codes only work on one Machine at a time (if Seven came with a PC it can only be installed on that PC) and installing it on another machine would be illegal and against the EULA anyway.

I've got two Win 7 machines that don't have working online Help and Support.
One is my signature machine with Win 7 Pro 32-bit, the other is Win 7 Home 64 bit.
The 32-bit machine is updated monthly. The 64-bit machine hasn't been updated since before Win 10 was released.
Both machines are connected to a common Linksys router to my DSL ISP.
When switched to Offline Help, I get results. Online help, nada.
I did search this problem here on Seven Forums and at Google, but no solution was ever found.
The fact that it's TWO rigs affected is making me wonder if Microsoft has shut down online help for 7.
No viruses, no malware, sfc /scannow was run on both machines with no errors found.

Does anyone have any ideas what's going on? I'd appreciate any input.

Hi All,

Not sure this is the right spot but here goes. I have my own business, domain name, etc. I use multiple machines - laptop, workstation & handheld (iphone3GS). Is there a way to to have all my email, calender and certain directories of files, etc stay synchronized across the laptop and workstation? Also, it would be nice to have the email and calendar synch'd with the handheld as well. I used MS office 2007 on a win 7 laptop and a Win XP 64 workstation.

I currently have a pop email protocol but I believe I could switch it to IMAP (of which I know nothing) if that could help.

Any help or a link or a search criteria would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Hey there

I have an ADSL connection, with a wireless router attached. Then have two laptops both connected via the wireless connection. When they are both being used, they usually cause an IP conflict causing one to drop the connection. I beleive this is because my connection has dynamic IP and both machines are trying to connect directly.

One laptop is my work machine and the other is my wifes home machine. Neither machine is on all the time so I havent tried setting up the internet connection sharing.

Any suggestions on how to set this up? I am thinking of using an old PC box as an always on directly connected to the ADSL line and then sharing the connection through there. If that is an option, what kind of specs should it have? Or is there an easier way?

Thanks!!!

We have tried force uninstalling with the installation setup of vcredist via cmd, but that does not work.
