This platform is not compatible with Intel Wifi

Q: This platform is not compatible with Intel Wifi

Hi, I'm trying to install Intel Wireless Display Software (American, International) 4.2.19.0 Rev.D 23 Sep 2014 downloaded from the HP support center for my computer. The installation starts but after a few seconds a message comes "The platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi. The Driver for wireless access can't find or download the necessary components for Intel WiDi". From the Intel website (http://ark.intel.com/products/81015/Intel-Core-i7-4510U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz) I can see that WiDi is supported for the processor I have. Do I need to change my driver for the Wireless card? Which one should I change to?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Guys,

I'm currently trying to work out a problem regarding my WiFi card on my L670-14M.

The old Wifi card died on us, so I decided to buy a Intel 7620 card to replace it. This installed fine, and is recognized by the device manager, and I can now find the wifi card in the adapter settings menu.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to go any further. The wireless logo in the corner appears, but with a red "X" through it.

I've tried:
Disabling and enabling the cardUsing the FN+F8 key combinationUpdating the BIOSRunning the troubleshooter (It tells me to switch on the WiFi capabilities via a switch on the computer or the FN keys. I have no switch and the FN key combination doesn't work.I've also attempted to clear the TCP/IP stack to no avail.

All I can guess now is that the card is either incompatible with this laptop, or maybe there's something in the registry that could be changed/removed to help? I've tried several different cards too (as this is a work laptop and we've bought the cards in bulk) and it's not due to a faulty card.

Thanks,

YoYoMachete

I think that Lenovo only offers 12gb maximum.  But can the S340-15IWL (Intel) platform handle more than that.  4gb is soldered to the board and there is only one slotS340-15IWL Intel Platform

A:What is Maximum RAM for S340-15IWL (Intel) platform?

Hi g725s,

Greetings.

It is true that manufacturer max supported ram is 12 GB and having more is not offered or not been certified for the system.

I was not able to find any confirmed case yet for placing a 16GB on the single slot but you may want to check with other resellers that may offer it with a good return option just in case. It sure is nice if a spare 16GB DDR4 ram can be checked on this model.

I have done a clean install of Windows 10. In Device Manager all drivers are present except for the Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Manager (see attached picture). There are three other drivers present for DPTF, but the DPTF Manager has issue. If I double-click on the entry, a message displays saying the device cannot start (error 10) and the process hosting the driver for this device has terminated. I have tried updating the driver to no avail. I have also downloaded the DPTF driver from the Lenovo website. However, when I try to install it a message displays saying the Realtek bluetooth device will not work on this version of Windows. For information, every chipset driver reports this message on installation.I would be grateful of some help to get the driver for DPTF Manager installed/working. Before the clean install of W10, I am pretty sure all was OK with DPTF drivers.Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you.

For my XPS 12 9250, under the power scheme, there is only one setting for Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Settings, which is [email protected] This is the only setting for both on battery and plugged in.
The Intel m5-6y54 has a TDP of 4.5w and can be configured up to 7w or down to 3.5w. I believe in other mobile systems, users have the ability to select a lower power mode while on battery to extend battery life (at expense of performance).
Given that the XPS 12 has short battery life (when comparing to its peers), shouldn't it make sense for Dell to enter a setting within the chipset thermal framework to allow the cpu to operate at a lower power setting for longer battery life?
I certainly would want that option. Is that something that Dell can implement?

The two recent driver updates to Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Driver both fail to install on my XPS 9550. Specifically the drivers packages Chipset_Driver_YPN7Y_WN32_8.1.10605.221_A02.EXE  and
Chipset_Driver_KDDXT_WN32_8.1.10604.207_A01.EXE the original driver
Chipset_Driver_7TWNH_WN32_8.1.10600.150_A00.EXE does seem to install correctly.  Really only the thermal manager portion fails.

After downloading and reviewing the inf files I can see the A01 and A02 driver have smilar inf files (save the driver version numbers) but the A00 (working driver) is different from the two.

in A00 I see

in the [INTEL.NTamd64.6.1] and [INTEL.NTamd64.6.3] sections
in A01 and A02 it is

Related symptoms, often on Dell Latitude Laptops: a couple of minutes after you turn the computer on, you see warning windows on the screen,:

The typical "answer" to this "problem" if you ask google is 1) reinstall windows or 2) uninstall the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) software. You may read that it is an "extra" driver you accidentally installed.

Not true.

These errors come when you have installed the TPM but have not enabled the BIOS settings that activate it.

To get rid of these errors and take advantage of the added Trusted Platform Module (TPM) functionality, you need to activate TPM in your BIOS. Instructions are here:

When I undock the laptop by pulling the USB-C cable out (either sleeping beforehand or not sleeping first) then I am getting an intermittent issue where the wifi claims to be disabled. The only way to resolve this is a hard reboot.
Toggling airplane mode doesn't help. Disabling and reenabling the wifi network connection doesn't help. Toggling airplane mode from Fn-PrtScr doesn't help.
It is acting as though the hardware radio is turned off (like when laptops used to come with a hardware radio switch), but with no method to turn it on again.
Looking in the system event log I can see entries from source Netwtw04, Event ID 7012 stating "radio OFF"

Good afernoon,
yesterday in the evening I got a BSOD which consequently generated an Error Submission to Microsoft, whose answer to that problem was that the ACPI system missed a driver for the Power Management of... the AMD Phenom processor.
The funny thing is that the platform could not be farther from AMD family of hardware, being an Intel i5-750 on Asus P7-P55D motherboard.
Everywhere in the system (Vista Business x64), the processor is correctly recognized.
So where could this come from?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hey Hey Peeps,

I am starting to think about building another rig, but i want to use ATI Graphics Cards (The new 5970 series) and possibly X-Fire.

I know it might seem a weird question but my current setup is Nvidia with the 790i Ultra Chipset so that is all i really know, and as ATI seem to be getting a bit better i thought it was about time i started using theirs.

If anyone could point me in the right direction would be so much helpful and most appreciated. I would prefer Asus, but if there are any other choices then i am keeping an open mind and will try.

A bit of other info, if helpful at all.

Needs to be a socket 775 and DDR3.
This will be used for gaming, OC-ing, browsing and word processing
Budget would probably be in the region of ?200 - ?400
This will be all going in a Coolermaster HAF932 (ATI Edition)

Not sure if i am missing anything.

Thanks a bunch in advance

A:ATI and Intel Compatible Motherboards

If your sticking with Socket 775, your choices will be a bit limited with DDR3 capability.

For socket 775/ DDR3/ and crossfire support, you best option will likely be a X48 or X38 Chipset.

Sadly, your choices are going to be rather limited for DDr3 & Socket 775.

Maybe something Like:

ASUS
Newegg.com - ASUS P5E3 PRO LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

DFI
Newegg.com - DFI LANPARTY LT X48-T3RS LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

DFI are excellent boards. but a word of warning. If you plan on OCing, they are not at all beginer friendly.
They do however, have excellent bios, with a incredible amount of options. So unless you want to get really intimate with the bios, DFI may not be a great choice.
It really comes down to how much experience you have, or how much you want to learn all the ins and outs.

With socket 775, it might possibly be a better route to stay with DDR2, (IF you already have good DDR2 memory) simply due to the limited choices of DDR3/775 boards.

Hi guys, I'm new here, looks a great forum!

Hope I can be of assistance but right now I need some of my own.

I am running dual monitors on an ATI Radeon 7000 and have recently purchased an Nvidia quadro fx 1400 to run another 2 monitors.

So, i found out I am having compatability issues as the new card is only running 640x480 resolution and 4 bit colour, it will not allow me to change this.

My ATI controller now won't let me adjust my first 2 monitors and does not pick up the third.

My chipset is the - intel p35/g33 - If i purchase another ATI Radeon 7000 will this solve my problem? is this chipset capable of running 4 monitors? well, it's running 3 now (one on the nvidia with low colour and res) so i'm sure it can? Will I need to upgrade my power supply? Am I damaging the PC if not?

My board is a Asus P5KC if that helps..

Thanks, James!

A:Intel p35/g33 compatible with multiple monitors?

Welcome James,
I would recommend not mixing multiple video cards, so installing another Radeon 7000 is a good idea. Besides, only one video driver would be needed

I'm looking to replace the logic board in my desktop system with a PCI Express-capable model. The current logic board is an Asus P4C800-E with a 3.4 ghz P4 CPU.

What I would like is:
1 16x PCI Express slot (two would be better)
at least 4 other PCI slots
USB 2.0
FireWire
Onboard gigabit Ethernet
Has to play well with the current processor

My upper limit is around $250 for the board. Suggestions?

A:PCI Express Intel-Compatible Motherboard Suggestions?

A socket 478 p4 board with pci-e is not too common.
I also doubt you'll find one with 4 pci slots as well(although they have some pci-e x1 slots too).
Here're two I could find w/ pci-e and socket 478.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157075
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813170143
After looking at both, I'd definitely go with the albatron model of the two, it has 1 more pci slot, and also has full pci express x16(not the asrocks "agi express", which is limited).
The downside to the albatron is that it only has 1 ide port, so you could only have 1 ide hd if you have one cd/dvd drive, or no ide drives if you have 2 cd/dvd drives. It basically means you need to use sata hard drives with the board, (or you'd have to get a pci/pci-e x1 ide controller to add 2 more ide connectors).
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815150049
^that has 2 ide connectors if you'd need more ide connectors. It also adds usb and firewire.

If you need firewire you can add a card like this(or if you need ide ports and get the above, firewire is already built in).
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1681512400
Or if you don't want to tie up a pci slot, you could get a pci-e x1 model like this.
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.a...rm=10412677&Type=PI&Category=Comp&dcaid=17194

And if you need gigabit ethernet, same situation, you can get pci or pci-e x1.

Can I upgrade my Intel chipset to 4th generation for my Dell OptiPlex 780? I bought the machine as a refurbished unit which was updated to Windows 10. My goal is to be able to create Minecraft servers which I can't do with my current chipset. Intel said that they aren't creating the necessary drivers.

A:Intel 4th generation chipset - Is it compatible with OptiPlex 780?

There is no such thing as CHIPSET upgrade on any machine any vendor.
You cant put a core I3 I5 I7 chip into a 780.
Minecraft requires JAVA and a GPU  Radeon HD5450 is minimum requirement.
Minecraft on a 780 with linux or windows 7 or 8 or 10 works fine when you have a radeon 5450 minimum.
Radeon HD5xxx series is legacy so it requires legacy amd driver,

ASUS Silent Radeon  EAH 6450 is what i use.

You can only use Single slot low profile cards.

The EAH 6450 fits in all sizes except USFF because USFF has no slots.

Manufacturer Part# : EAH6450 SILENT/DI/1GD3  Dell Part# : A4996444

i have intel 845 chipset with gr cadr 82845/G and i have upgraded my system from XP to vista. since then the resolution cannot be changed for the monitor. Tried downloading (through upgrade under device manager) but no joy. Help me somebody..do not tell me to upgrade the gr card...
satish

A:intel 82845 gr card not compatible with vista

You can go to Intel site and see if there is a Vista driver and if not reinstall the XP driver. To do the XP driver you may not be able to autorun, but instead right click and "explore" the video driver to go inside and use setup for XP. The only other solution would be add a new video card to either pci slot or agp if you have one.

But Intel(R) Network Connections 16.2.49.0 is not compatible with win8, so is there any update or any other software or i don't need this driver?

Ok here's the situation, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a possible solution as ATI customer support hasn't been of much help.

I have a Micron PC that has an Intel D845HV motherboard inside. According to what I read from Intel's site, it only accepts AGP 4X cards. Also, according to ATI's website the Radeon 9000 should be compatible with AGP 2/4/8X slots. However, when I try to use this card in the Micron PC, I get no video signal, and just some bios beeps that probably mean something like no video card installed. I can verify this as another AGP card, an nVidia TNT2 m64 card works fine, as well as a PCI SiS 4mb video card works.

But here's something else that's interesting. I know the Radeon 9000 card works because I have another PC that was custom built and has a Gigabyte GA-7IXE4 motherboard inside, which apparently only supports up to AGP 2X (according to the manual and what SMARTGART allows me to go up to for the highest AGP setting).

So with that all in mind, any ideas as to why this card won't work with the Intel motherboard? Shouldn't the card automatically detect which of the AGP speeds the motherboard supports and use one of them? Neither of the PCs have any of the special AGP settings in the BIOS setup either, aside from AGP aperature size.

Thanks in advance

A:Radeon 9000 AGP and Intel motherboard not compatible?

The BIOS beeps are probably more along the lines of an address conflict... and likely the real problem.

Do you have any PCI devices in the PC? Many of those Intel motherboards have shared resources between the AGP slot and the first AGP slot. I''d suggest removing all PCI devices for a test, as well as disabling any PCI address space devices in the BIOS(such as USB, on-board audio, serial, etc.etc.) then save/exit and try the swap once more.

If your system suddenly posts with all hardware disabled and PCI slots empty, it'll then be a simple process of re-enabling to find the culprit... which should lead to a work-around to reallocated it somewhere else (or different PCI slot if its a card).

On my Pavilion dv6-7043cl, with Windows 7 (64-bit), I had been using the Intel WiDi successfully to view my computer screen on my 50 " LG 3D Smart TV, except for the display of 3D images processed into the correct 3D TV format by a well-tested program (Stereoscopic Player).   In order to try to solve the 3D problem, I updated the Intel WiDi with the latest version on the Intel Website, only to find out that I had missed a message stating that a different HP OEM version of WiDi was configured by HP for the maverick graphics processor on my dv6, requiring update by HP software.  As a result, subsequent attempts to use the Intel-updated WiDi failed;  the computer to TV connection was detected, but on the TV screen, instead of getting a duplicate of my computer screen, I got a box in the lower right corner, stating something like "Miracast connecting".  After that box disappeared, nothing happened on the TV, and the connection message on the computer changed back to "disconnected."  I tried rebooting -- tried again, same result.  Went through HP Support Assistant, drilling down to my computer description and looking at the update list.  Under something like "Displays and Multimedia." I found the HP update for Intel WiDi, and tried to apply it.  Unfortunately, the result was a message that I had "already installed a more recent version" (apparently the update I had applied from the Intel web site).  Accordingly, I th... Hi: I found the Intel Wireless Display Software under the Multimedia driver section on your notebook's support and driver page. Naturally, I would have thought it would have been listed under the wireless driver section... This package contains the Intel Wireless Display Software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The Intel Wireless Display Software enables users to display information and video on a remote monitor or TV that is equipped with a device that supports the Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) technology. This software only runs on systems that meet the prerequisites specified by Intel. File name: sp63552.exe Moral of the story...expect the unexpected.

So, I've got an HP dc5100 MT. It's got an Intel 915GV Video Controller on a Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Chipset, or so I've been told. The chipset info visible on the mobo seems to corroborate that. I recently went from 32-bit Win 7 to 64-bit Win 7. Video used to work fine. Now, in 64-bit, I can't load a video driver that will let me select the proper wide-screen resolution for my monitor. It will only let me go up to 1280x1024. All sorts of info say that Intel never released Vista or Win 7 drivers for this chipset, because it was too old. Yet, I know that whatever I was running on 32-bit Win 7 was working fine. Either way, I found the old post below about apparently the same chipset.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-7/943982-solved-windows-7-driver-intel.html

I tried following that, but when I go to the device manager to update the driver, it won't let me - even if I tell it to browse to a specific folder where I download some driver, it says, "The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date." And, it won't let me move forward. See - Windows doesn't tell me I have a 915GV video controller - it just tells me it has a 'standard VGA graphics adapter'. But, I figured that's just because it's running the generic driver. Anyway, it doesn't seem to want to let me fix it. Any suggestions?
