I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I am attempting to install ubuntu 16.04 on my yoga 900. The bios can see the 512 gb samsung hard drive and so can Windows. The ubuntu installer can not see it at all. I believe this has to do with the sata mode on the bios. Unfortuneatly there is no option to change it from RAID to AHCI or disabled. Will there be a BIOS update for this in the near future? Or is there another work around?

Hello to the BleepingComputer community,First of all I'm sorry I haven't finished some of the steps from the Preparation Guide. It's because these steps require a reboot (e.g. Step 6: Disable your CD Emulation Software - DeFogger will ask me to reboot the machine), and I have a bad feeling about the question if it is safe to reboot in my situation: I'm not sure if I have a type of malware which is ready to infect the BIOS - if it is so, then it could infect it much easier during the reboot process.- If there is a good way to find out what is the problem (and fix the BIOS threat part if it really is present) without rebooting / shutting down this PC, or at least without booting from this hard drive (which I feel is probably infected), then please tell me what should I do.- If you know a place / forum where I can get a specialized help for this (seemingly BIOS-malware related) situation, please tell me where I could go.- If there is no way to move forward, I'll go ahead and risk the reboot, and follow the other steps (steps 6 to 10) in the Preparation Guide, no problem.I kindly ask you to please read below the details of the problem as it occured to me, and the things I have tried so far.The PC is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core BE-2350 2.1GHz, Motherboard Biostar TA690G AM2 (with AWARD BIOS), 4GB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, and an ASUS EAH4870 card added a few years ago. It's with WinXP SP3, AVG Free 2012, (standard) Windows Firewall, and it's behind a router.I ... In order to follow a guideline provided on this forum, I went into BIOS and pressed Fn+F9 keys to set BIOS to default settings. After that used Fn+F10 to save and exit. The laptop was supposed to restart but it is not going farther than Lenovo logo, it is trying to boot windows and after a few seconds shuts down and automatically tries again but doesn't go farther than logo. It seems that a certain setting changed in BIOS that doesn't allow windows to start. See below the default settings of my BIOS now. Please help!

Hi.

My Sat M30 laptop start with an bios error. The error says "Resource conflict, edit bios setting or boot" If select "boot" computer hangs before windows completely starts. I remove the wi-fi and the modem module and the same error appears. I can't upgrade the bios because the windows don't start. The bios version is 1.7. The laptop is UK version. If select "edit bios", bios start but I can't find any resource management.

Thanks

(sorry for my english, I am from Spain)

A:Satellite Pro M30 Bios error Resource conflict - Edit bios setting or boot

Hi

I think the error ?edit bios setting? means that you should access the BIOS and should set the BIOS back to the default settings.

Please do this, save the settings and try to boot up!

Hi everyone, I have a Yoga 720 model 80X6002JUS. I recently downloaded the new BIOS that was posted yesterday (April 3, 2018) 1YCN30WW(V1.07).  When I ran it, it said it was older than the version I was running. I was on version 2.05 or 2.06. I figured it was just labeled incorrectly, so I went to my BIOS and allowed older versions to be installed. I ran it, and now my computer is "bricked". The power button light turns on, I can turn the keyboard backlight on and off with fn+space, but nothing shows up on the screen. I can't get to the BIOS or picking a boot method to re-install Windows.  Is there any master way to reflash a BIOS? I can send the laptop in for repair, but would prefer to try and reflash it myself.  Worst case, does anyone know the best way for me to plug the SSD into a different computer to take off my personal stuff before I send it in? I have IntelŪ SSD 600p Series which has a PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 interface. I checked Amazon and I don't see any USB enclosures that will fit that. Note to Lenovo: I would consider taking the new (or old?) BIOS offline if this happened to anyone else.  Thank you for any help you guys can provide

I got this update to the bios today.   After reading the text in the pop-up saying at the end of a long list of scray things to do it said  "please load bios default in set-up menu .... " I cancelled it. I do not want me messing with the bios.  How do I un-do or get help without a laptop, or with one that is wounded. Lenovo, you have to make this less scary, fully automatic and error proof, and easier to do.  Most of us know nothing about any bios or bios menu, and I don't want to know.  No benefit really stated from doing the update.  Things are working fine, don't need it.

I updated my bios awhile back to version 8MCN46WW - I check back fairly regularly to see if there have been any further improvements, but for over a month it has said on the download page that the bios was being worked on and to check back later. Finally I can see a bios file has now been made available on the support page for my laptop but weirdly it is a version down from the one I installed on mine a few months back (version 8MCN45WW) What's going on with this?  Should I be worried that the 46 version has a problem which is why they have rolled back?!

Hi, I'm getting recent prompts to update the most current BIOS on my machine. I've put it off a few times. I'm wondering if anyone that's updated it can comment how it went, if there were problems what were they and if there were issues after the update. I'm not finding anything in this regard on all sections of Lenovo's Support site. I have concerns about updating due to BIOS issues that are well known throughout the year, such as the Spectre/Meltdown Side Channel Attacks fixes, and other BIOS problems I've read on Lenovo's site. I really appreciate any feedback you have before I do the update. Thanks!

Hi, attempted to upgrade my Yoga 920's BIOS using this BIOS version (link to README):https://us.download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/5ncn41ww.txt After running the executable, Windows 10 restarted but never came back and the Laptop will not boot. The keyboard and power button flash for about 1 second and then it turns off again. The screen remains off and the same thing happens over and over again until I press and hold the power button for about 8 seconds to completely turn off the system. I tried pressing the "recovery" pin-hole button next to the power button with a papaer clip but the same behavior occurs. I guess it's bricked so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to force the Yoga 920 to flash a recovery BIOS or something from a USB stick. Thanks.

I got a notice on my laptop saying there was a critical update, so I clicked ok go ahead with it. Now that this problem has occurred and I've been hunting for a solution I see that people generally warn against doing BIOS updates. Unfortunately I didn't know about that and was just naively letting the laptop go ahead with whatever updates it wanted. Too late now. My laptop shut itself down like it was going to restart, when I looked back over ten minutes later it was still sitting with a black screen and LED light on. Unresponsive to anything. It's been two hours now.  To make matter worse, I'm trying to contact Lenovo customer support and keep getting a "document not found" page error when I try to get to the contact information on Lenovo's website. This forum is apparently the only thing I can access. So.. any advice? I'm in a complete panic here as I heavily depend on that laptop for a number of things and having it not work puts me in a really bad situation.
